Who doesn't love an old fashioned swap meet?! I know I do! Love how there's so many hidden gems, great deals, practically steals and you can haggle your way to basically paying nothing for anything that cost way more online. Most of the vendors sell brand new things that are auctioned on Ebay. I've bought my son's swords for cosplay for cheap, when online they were asking for triple the price I paid. Costumes and anime collectibles and so much more. If you don't come here to shop, at least try out the food. I know what you're thinking..."it's the swap meet" but in all honesty the food is awesome! If you grew up in SD you'll definitely know where to go for supreme nachos, loaded with Pico de gallo, shredded beef, nacho cheese, beans and jalapeños. I have been going to the Spring Valley swap meet for over 10 years now, and I must say that it is my most favorite swap meet. If it is a Saturday or Sunday and I'm hungry, want to just walk around and do a little shopping, or am in desperate need for an Agua De Fresa (yes, this happens!), I just head over to the Spring Valley Swap Meet. If anyone is reading this and you are trying to figure out what to eat, head over to the center isle by the "office" and get some beef nachos, pure deliciousness! They also have bacon wrapped hot dogs which are bomb. To drink, get one of the aguas frescas from the food truck at the very corner by the north/east entrance, my favorite is the agua de fresa but they are all perfection, especially on a hot day. On a side note: I got my iPhone 5 screen replaced by SD Fix It (spot 333) for only $80.00! Awesome deal! read more

My family loves this swap meet!!! If you love going to markets when you travel, especially in Latin America, then you'll love this event!! It's like being in another country. A very strong Latin atmosphere - with music and food. We go there sometimes just for the beef nachos. THE BEST IN TOWN!! This swap meet is part farmers market and part swap meet. We get inexpensive clothes for my kids (socks, leggings, shoes...). Everything from produce to furniture, windows, tools, music, pets supplies, and pretty much anything you need. We just got floor mats for our car today for $4!! Other swap meets seem to sell stuff they bought at the dollar store. This is a real market that's just fun to wander through. read more

Pretty big swap meet. Be prepared to walk a lot. Lots of new items that are generic or fake in the starting point of entrance to about halfway. If you want a bargain for these kind of items this is your spot. Lots of plants to choose from if you are looking for plants. Food is pretty good if you want to snack. One of the biggest swapmeet in San Diego. They only opened on the weekends. There are many sellers whonare 1st time, regulars...etc.

Came to sell and as a previous poster said it's just ridiculous that they don't let you set up before all the people are let in because you have to have at least two people with you if not you'll get some stuff stolen. People were yanking things out of my truck, I had to tell them to wait. I was a bit mean because they didn't listen at first. So my sister in las was setting up and I was just watching people not grab things from the truck. Besides that wait in the car and the people yanking things I made really good money! I made really, really good money. I sold used and new stuff. And yes, for the used things people would try to give you the bare minimum but it's up to you if you sell it or not or wait till the day passes and see if you get what you want or just sell it at the end. read more

First of all this is THE swapmeet in SD. Do you know of others in the area with a beer garden!? We love this place but we LOVE swapmeets, so it doesn't bother us that its dirty and like TJ. I can have my TJ dog and a beer or I can have a killer fish taco and a beer. Beer garden on Sundays only, they play the Chargers games and there are a lot of regulars. Found some killer deals and some totally unnecessary crap (too long in the beer garden) one time I even bought a baby duckling (another beer influenced purshase), his name was Ping...the old man made me take him back :( This place is awesome if you like real deals and digging through crap but we go to Kobey for more quality antiques and such... give it a try! read more

Had a very serious problem with the people at one of the entrances. I have a service animal and was denied entry because my dog did not have his vest on at the time, I informed the staff that the ADA federal law stipulates that the owner of a service animal need not provide any written or other type of proof to prove that the dog is a service animal, all one is required by federal law is to state that the animal is a service animal. I went back to my car got my dogs vest, papers and a copy of the ADA, American Disability Act Law and showed it to these people and they still did not want to let me in..... I became very irritated with their ignorance. The staff told me that the swap meet has its "own" rules and that dogs were not allowed.... This upset me very much and I just wanted to slap these people into sense..... After arguing with them I forced my way in. So don't expect any special services héroe if you are handicapped in any way shape or form. I did not enjoy this swap meet for their lack of respect towards handicapped people read more

Half the stuff being sold there looks like it was dug out of garbage bins, so much trash and food rubish, stinky, unorganized, etc. The food is all gross and over priced. But for some reason so many people crowd this place likes flies on horse shit. Parking is awful so if you *really* feel like you need to browse rejected thrift store donations, get there early. I originally went just for dog name tags and collars but they don't make tags like the Kobe Swap Meet. And their selection of pet products is few and far between. This place is a garbage dump. The parking lot is a nightmare no matter what time you come. People drive through here without any caution of the people walking. The people who come here are inconsiderate of others, standing in the middle of aisles as they eat and block the way with their huge families. People throw trash all over the ground. It was only 10am when I went today and cars are constantly leaving so you have to be cautious if you don't want to get ran over in the swapmeet. There are way too many people inside, they really should limit the capacity because it doesn't seem safe honestly. Today reminded me why I have not been here in 2 years. This place is an institution in the South Bay/East County area. It has been there as long as I can remember (and I have been in the area 41 years) and has changed a little as the vendors now seem to be about 50/50 professional vs yard sale types- there is some real crap there, but there are also some great bargains to be had especially on women's clothing (especially the hoochie type stuff) and shoes. There are a bunch of TJ style food options and the ones we have tried are great- bacon wrapped hot dogs, massive plates of nachos, and the like. There is a beer garden in the Southwest Corner and right net to the beer garden is the only place in San Diego that I am aware of where you can get REAL TJ style churros- not those frozen awful things but fresh from batter deep fried awesomeness. Parking can be a bit of a problem- do yourself a favor and either come in the back gate near the Spring Valley Park by the McD's on Jamacha Blvd or park in the South lot- getting in and out of the lots immediately adjacent to the seller's area can be a pain. It costs a dollar to get in, but you save that much easy on almost any purchase. Most vendors are cash only, but we have noticed lately there are a growing number of people who accept cards via the "cube" thing on their cell phones, so that's a bonus. As I said, it's an institution- they even shoot the 4th of July fireworks in Spring Valley from their parking lot every year- go check it out! read more

I have been going to this swap meet for 30+ years. I used to think it was a good swap meet but it seems to have gone down hill. I cant deal with crowds as everyone seems to have a cart or something which makes it really difficult to get up to the vendors. I have also noticed the quality of items for sale are going down hill as I have never gone to this swap and come home empty handed and the last 2 times I went I didn't find one thing (other than their coffee and donut) which are always good ! Hopefully it will get better again someday... read more

The Spring Valley Swap Meet is EPIC! It's been around a long time, too, because, as a native San Diegan, I can remember when it was actually a drive-in. My Dad bought my first bike there, I got my first motorcycle boots there. Not to mention a wrought-iron bird cage from Mexico, lots of kids clothing, jewelry, car parts, etc. it's the best! Just came here to do some shopping and was turned away because we had our Yorkie but the Hispanic couple about 5 people ahead of us who also had a dog went in without a problem. I will never come here again and the woman at the ticket booth was extremely rude. Discrimination is not okay. As crowded as this place gets its always an adventure. You can find pretty much anything your looking for, some new- some used. I always get the clamatos when I go! I crave them like no other. I always make sure to go to the stands that are towards the front because they make them for me without cueritos (pig skin...gross) there. The horchatas and other agua frescas are amaaaaazing. The Mexican food also looks bomb but I haven't tried any of it because I'm vegetarian. Make sure you put some sunscreen if you come during the summer because you WILL burn. read more

Only $1 for entry! Went here to make a spare car key for my cousin's car and we came across Pepe. He was super friendly and even went with us to her car to make sure it worked. He only charged her $120 for the spare. Other than Pepe, we also shopped around and I loved the variety of this place. I ended up buying more than I expected to haha but we ended up staying till it closed at 3pm. There are two parking lots from what I saw and they were both dirt lots. I heard they have great nachos, but I'll have to try it the next time that I go. I definitely recommend this swap meet! read more

This is the spot. I buy all my tools here. Like everywhere else, you need to arrive early to get the best choices. Parking is easy and it's only $1 to enter. I start at the bottom and work my way up. I like to grab a large Horchata before I make my rounds. Lines for the Super Nachos are way too long for me, but looks really good. Towards the bottom are the garage/yard sale type sellers, then half way up are the discounted new type items such as clothing, hats, toys, etc. This swap meet is no dirtier than any other place and the bathrooms are good enough for a number 1. I visit about twice a month and the experience is always fun. read more

I love the Spring Valley Swap meet! Yes it is crowded and dirty but aren't all flea markets? I love sorting thru stuff looking for that one special item that I didn't know I just had to have. Most people are flexible with their prices and I love to haggle over prices. I have sold there 3 or 4 times, mostly baby clothes and odds and ends around the house that I would otherwise donate to goodwill. My husband's old tools sold very quickly at premium prices. If you truly love flea markets and tag sales this place is heaven! If you're afraid of getting dirty or your a newby maybe you should try the other open market over by the Sports Arena. read more

Don't waste your time here. Parking is MUCH easier at Kobey's Swap Meet and Kobey's has a much better selection of merchandise. All the booths and vendors at Spring Valley Swap Meet sell similar merchandise. I did notice that Spring Valley has a larger selection of tools for sale. But the drive here and the parking make Spring Valley a waste of time for this shopper. read more
