My niece wanted to thrift and chose Team Amvets as our destination! They have an array of clothing, furniture, home goods, and more. I walked away with. 99 green pants, and blue docker pants for $4.99. The prices were extremely reasonable, and I loved that everything was color coordinated...only downfall is that it wasn't in order of sizes. Otherwise we had fun thrifting! We weren't able to score a stall in the parking lot out front, so we had to settle on metered parking in front of the building. Happy Journeys

New from store tag with $1.97 price ... amvets thrift store price $9.95

I've been here a couple times and things have holes in them and are pretty dirty. Prices usually are pretty good IF it's the right color tag for 50% off that day. Today was super bummed to find they are over pricing things intentionally. A brand new pair of gap jeans with the tag on it. The tag from gap was on sale for $1.97 - I have gotten these good of prices from the outlet store - rarely but I have. So someone gave these to amvets for free and amvets priced them at $9.95. I showed it to an employee behind the register and they said that must be a mistake someone must have just stuck a sticker on it because gap would never sell for that price ... I said yes they would and that is the same sticker the outlets use for their clearance items. There was nothing she was willing to do to drop the price even a little. Frustrating to see places take advantage.

The stars are for the great deals, took one star away for it being messy and dirty. I always find what I'm looking for and priced very well.

The quality of the items is impressive, and the store is well organized, which makes browsing enjoyable. That said, the pricing feels more like a boutique than a thrift store. While I understand that proceeds go toward a good cause, I often leave empty‑handed because the prices are just too high for what I'd expect at a thrift. For me, part of the joy of thrifting is finding something wonderful and feeling like I scored a bargain -- not like I overpaid. If you don't mind paying a lot more, you'll likely find unique and quality pieces here. But if you're hunting for that classic thrift‑store bargain, be prepared that prices may not match the typical thrifting experience.

Recently, I drove to the La Mesa store with a car full of donations during a very heavy rainstorm. I pulled up to the marked donation drop-off door but was told I could not park there and needed to move across the lot, get a cart, and bring everything in myself. I explained that i was not parking, I am handicapped and offloading since it was pouring rain, but was still told no. I ended up leaving without donating or shopping. As a loyal supporter of FJV, I was very disappointed by the lack of understanding and outright rudness.

I was browsing the blankets,, books, workout and business clothing and office decor. Some items still had original tags and were unused. I saw an unopened box of affirmation cards but the date was 2015. I laughed with my friend because technically motivation doesn't expire but I still didn't get it lol. I purchased a cute pink sign that says "Dream Big" for my office. It was $4. The pricing has gone up at goodwill. I always look for deals and compare prices. Seeing the asking price for DONATED items and knowing how much things cost brand new really surprised me. I know more people thrift shop but I thought the store was meant to be affordable than purchasing new. Some prices were ridiculous. Clothing from fashion nova and shein were there and the price is what you can pay online. So, just be mindful and shop smart. It's useful if no credit card or no time to wait for shipping. Nothing stood out about service. I only spoke to someone at checkout and he was nice. It was a brief interaction. I don't know if the specific store sets the price or the brand has some required go by pricing sheet. I'm going 3 stars mainly for pricing. Everything is not affordable to all and for free items, it should be.

Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. About three and a half weeks before we needed to be out of our rental, Steve came to review what we had available. We showed him many higher-priced, quality items and asked specifically about everything -- including food, supplements, furniture, a heavy fountain, and more. He indicated he would take it all and that we had enough to make it worth his time and effort. As agreed, five days before the scheduled pickup, his employee did a final walkthrough. We provided a detailed list of items we had already discussed with Steve and had even added additional items he had previously said he would take. Then, just two days later, we received a text saying this was now considered more of a cleanout -- and that we would need to pay him over $1,700. During a follow-up phone call, he said the items we had previously discussed were not worth his time to take. This was especially frustrating because we had offered to let him take only what he felt was worth selling. This sudden change completely disrupted our timeline and plans to be out of the rental by the end of the month. We feel the expectations set at the beginning were not honored, which put us in a very difficult position on a tight schedule. Based on our experience, I would advise being very cautious when making plans, especially if you are working within strict deadlines.

This location is flanked by a target and has Starbucks, T-Mobile, and other businesses in the same center. The value is pretty decent. Sometimes I think the clothes might be a tad bit higher in price than what I expect a Ross to be. But it's hard to find anything for less. It also cool that they have a lot of items that use sustainable or recyclable materials so you're doing the earth and its resources some justice. Service is simple and quick and efficient. They get you in and out and if you ask for help they'll be more than happy to help you.
