The pros of this place is it is clean and the staff are friendly. The dental work is very good. The cons is make sure you get your information on what your insurance covers up front. I was quoted a portion paid by my insurance and another portion I owed. I paid in full. The staff had called to see what insurance covered before I let them touch my teeth. I had to come back for my final dental work of permanent crown placement and was told I was all set. Two months later the bill was run thru my insurance and it was off by 200 of what they thought my insurance would pay. But this bill said I owed an additional 1200. I called and they indicated to me the bill was quoted both for insurance portion and the amount I would owe the dentist portion. The document they had me sign first appointment was false. Thank goodness I saved it: At no point would I have signed off on having all the work done at once because i did not financially had it. If I knew I owed 1900 on top of the 2000 my insurance paid Finally got everything straightened out with the office to get a letter in the mail with the bill saying paid in full with quite the note from office staff that I should call insurance to see what it covers before dental work, etc needless to say I will never feel comfortable stepping foot in their office again. The dentist and her immediate staff are amazing but the way I was spoken to and treated by office staff was not appropriate.

I'm still in shock at how badly I was treated at Sage Dental in Alcoa!…read moreI had a hole in upper front of my mouth due to a dental surgeon having to remove a loose implant. My insurance approved the surgery and was well aware of the issue. Next step was to get a 1 tooth partial to fill the hole. I had never been to Sage Dental before, but they were on my DHMO provider list. So I made an appointment for 12-3-25 - ONLY to get an impression made. The assistant started to do x-rays and I explained to her that I had a history of 25 cancers on my face from radiation. Then, I gave them a doctor's order from my Dermatologist which stated: "MS HALL HAS HAD MULTIPLE SKIN CANCERS ON THE FACE. PLEASE AVOID X-RAYS UNLESS PROBLEM FOCUSED AND ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY". It was not at all necessary to do x-rays just to do an impression! After I showed them the doctor's order (assistant & receptionist) then THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME AT ALL!!! I never once saw the dentist and don't even know what he looks like! I reported this incident to my insurance company and they filed a complaint. Sage Dental should be removed from Cigna's provider list!

I would not recommend this office as they are not patient oriented, it is overpriced, and the staff…read morelacks empathy. I went as a new patient due to pain of a crown. The staff was attentive when I first went in and did not have to wait long to be seen by the Dentist (Dr Vilensky). The Dr could not find anything wrong and suggested I see another specialist(endodontist) for a root canal. I was skeptical since the Dentist has not been in practice long and did not consult anyone else in the office. However, I was willing to give it a try due to the pain. Then, they quoted my insurance for $8,000 with over $2,500 as out of pocket payment (what I had to pay). I spoke to the front desk lady several times about ways to lower that amount (like paying with cash, or monthly payments ), but she seemed very uncaring, bothered even, and did not want to do anything extra. She said it's all about my insurance and directed me to a loan page. After talking to my insurance, they said I was being overcharged based on their contracts and should not have to pay until after treatment and when they have the final amount. Also the endodontist from their office was not contracted with my insurance. When confronted with the information, the front desk lady admitted she knew my insurance did not work with their specialist (which she did not tell me) and that I could find my own specialist if I wished. She also explained that paying upfront is how they conduct business and if there is an overcharge they will eventually return it. I ended up going for a second opinion to another office who quoted me for an out of pocket of $1200 for changing the crown and no root canal was needed. All that to say they lack experience to diagnose and treat. They are money oriented and overpriced. And the staff is uncaring and will not look after the patient's best interest

I've had $6,000 worth of surgery except it wasn't explained to me what I was getting so some of the things I thought we were correcting - were not correct. When questions are asked they are brushed off and not answered. I'm sure I will have to pay a few grand more for additional work I thought I was getting already. Taking more time with the patient and working on bed side manner with clients would do these dentists a favor. Overall attitude is cold and hushed not concerned or caring. The work I've had done has been fine but again not what I thought I was getting completely which is frustrating... Also last time I went in they put a dirty blue bib on me..it had a few drops of blood on it already.

The problem I ran into was I had a chipped tooth. They repaired it, but it didn't last. They proceeded to tell me that I may be grinding my teeth and havee sleep apne. Then they offered to rent a machine to me that will not be covered by insurance. I replied no to all that and decided to go somewhere else. I've talked to other people have said that the business is a big money grabber. It's sad to feel cheated.
