Nice Hampton, tucked in the back of a large shopping mall with all the amenities you could want. Behind the hotel is a railroad which being a rail fan, loved the sound of an occasional freight train. Room was fine, clean and neat, ice machine right down the hall. Pool was out of service but the fitness center was available 24/7. Rarely saw an employee at the front desk after checking in, but since the bill was emailed that was no issue. Parking was always available and we'll lit.

View of the train tracks from the third floor. SO close to the hotel and SO loud. I was woken up at 3 am!

I stayed at this hotel while visiting family in the area and while it is a nice, clean, and well located property, I must rate it one star based on the horrid quality of sleep. Some genius decided to build this hotel mere feet away from a busy train track, and a route where there are trains all hours of the day and night. The train tracks run under a tunnel, meaning that when a conductor blows the horn, it's amplified. And yes, trains run through and blow their horns well into the wee hours. I was woken up SIX times the first night, at 1:13 am, 2:12 am, 3:34 am, 3:58 am, 4:24 am and 5:33 am from blaring horns and rumbling trains. The entire room would shake like I was in an earthquake. Same story the second night, but at different times. To make matters worse, I was given literally THE worst room for train nose, room 300. It was at the end of the hallway basically even to the train tunnel. I am far from a light sleeper, but the noise was deafening. Yes, the hotel provides earplugs in the room, but I am still super angry that I was shoved in the worst room available at the hotel. I'm not one of those "I'm an elite member so I deserve better," but come on! I'm a longtime Hilton HHonors Diamond member, and you'd think at least the hotel would treat us a bit better than guests walking in off the street. The hotel staff left much to be desired, as I found them to be unfriendly (especially those working the front desk late at night). The housekeeping staff was great. For the positives, the rooms are clean and have refrigerators, and there's plenty of free parking and free breakfast. Shopping and restaurants are steps away and easy to reach by foot. But all the good is strongly outweighed by the awful train situation. Avoid this hotel AT ALL COSTS if you want to get some sleep.

One night here at the Hampton and it was clean, quiet and efficient. I simply used my hotel room and never visited the fitness or business center. I did not stop for their breakfast. A large room (I may have been upgraded) with wifi that worked well. Bed was comfortable and the shower/tub was big enough to get myself squeaky clean before heading on to work. Plenty of parking and easy access to get onto the Interstate in either direction.

If you're looking to sleep LITERALLY next to the highway, railroad & construction... THIS IS YOUR HOTEL. The front desk is courteous which is why they got any stars to begin with. Rooms clean, felt clean and sanitary. But the location is ZERO STARS

Here for a night due to travel into West Virginia, and wasn't disappointed. This property is like many other of its modern contemporaries across the country- clean, updated, and with a design & structure that seemingly puts you at ease right away. First off regarding its location- the property is not that far from Route 29 and I-66 (the closest Metro stop is the Nutley Street orange line stop in Fairfax). Folks, for those of you who write that this property isn't located near anything are clearly not looking carefully. The front of the property faces quite a bit of small restaurant venues and a Starbucks, all within walking distance. I venture to say that Starbucks alone is within 100 meters of this property. There are grocery stores and other restaurants surrounding the hotel that are also within walking distance in the Gainesville area, as well as being a very short drive for those that don't choose to walk. Worse case scenario, drive 10 minutes into Manassas between the Wellington & Route 234 areas. Further, the infrastructure within the Gainesville area is fairly new (between 10-20 years old) compared to the Manassas & Centreville areas. To say that there isn't anything such as restaurants & other venues close to this hotel is 100% FALSE. This isn't 1988, when there really wasn't anything around (the hotel + the surrounding area didn't even exist then). The property itself is probably a few years old, yet its very clear that it either is well-maintained, or recently renovated. It is not that old as its sister property in Manassas that was built in the early 90s, yet that property has also been renovated. I know the Manassas property extremely well, considering that I witnessed its foundation being poured so many years ago. Back to this property though. Customer service here is fine, yet slightly pretentious. But that's just how Gainesville/Manassas people are (I should know), so don't get offended. Welcome to Northern Virginia, home of some of the most pretentious people in America (I love it, though!). The breakfast is the standard Hampton Inn carbs & coffee that you'll find at other properties, yet this property seems to have a few additional options on the menu for some reason. Parking here is interesting. The front of the building faces the aforementioned Gainesville businesses (i.e., Starbucks), yet the rear of the property faces Route 29 and looks to be only used by the employees. The feeling that the rear of the this property (like any other property) is that there was greater privacy to load/unload luggage and other items that you don't want other pedestrians to see. Overall, this is a good Hampton Inn property. While I would have preferred to stay at the Manassas Hampton Inn location due to being close to the neighborhood that I grew up in for familiarity purposes (Stonewall Jackson HS, Class of 93'), the Gainesville location is conveniently located to access I-66 West quickly while heading towards locations such as I-81 and other roads that would allow for westbound travel. I would certainly return here once again! Wonderful, wonderful property.

Nice hotel. However the train horn noise is awful. The tracks are 50 ft away. Find somewhere else to stay.

This will be our go to hotel from now on. Service was excellent, the room was gorgeous and the facility is very nice. Breakfast was so good each morning we even tipped our breakfast lady because she was amazing!!! High recommend and have you ever stayed at a hotel that had a walk in closet? We had not until now! BONUS!!! The pool is kinda tiny but the gym was nice.

While I considered rounding up for the breakfast offerings, I'm rounding down because I didn't have the restful stay that I was hoping for. Pros: - clean hotel with complimentary continental breakfast - decent breakfast spread - scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a protein were served each day. There was pork sausage on one day and bacon on another. There's also a DIY waffle maker, cereal station with a few dispensers, and oatmeal bar with a mix of toppings to add in. On Sunday, there was also French toast sticks (these were dry but you can drown them in syrup). On Monday, instead of French toast sticks, they had hard-boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Both days also had a basket of apples and bananas (the bananas looked much more appealing than the apples). They had a good condiment section (jellies, butter, peanut butter, cream cheese, Nutella, etc.). I also liked that they had salsa and shredded cheese for the eggs. There was also a fridge of milk and yogurt, a juice machine, and coffee and tea station, which included flavored syrups. They do take the coffee away after breakfast, but there is a coffee maker in the room. - room had a microwave and mini fridge, iron and ironing board, and hair dryer. No safe. - fitness center and pool are included amenities. There was also a computer in the lobby for their "business center" - luggage carts were easily available - plenty of parking available - good location near several shops and other shopping areas Cons: - check-in is at 3pm. We came around 4:30 pm and the room (executive suite) was still not ready. They estimated a 45-60 minute wait. We debated unloading the car, sitting in the lobby and waiting, but decided to leave and check out the shops nearby. The hotel didn't offer anything for the inconvenience, only their "apologies." - Super uncomfortable beds! I did not get restful sleep at this hotel. I felt like I was sleeping on a cot (it's not ~ I checked... but you could have fooled me...) - minimal toiletries available. Aside from the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner pumps in the shower, the only toiletries on the counter were one make-up remover wipe and a cleansing bar. No lotion, supplemental facial soap, mouthwash, etc. - water from the water station in the fitness center tasted stale - front desk staff was not super present. Whenever I was in the lobby, the front desk space was often vacant. We didn't have any issues to address, but staff did not seem very accessible The property is nice overall and the facilities are clean. Call it a princess and the pea scenario, but these beds are not for me.

Maid service every OTHER Wednesday. Trains, trains, and more trains. This place is located basically on the train tracks of a very active and horn-heavy line. You will wake up a few times every night to the roar and honks of the trains. Construction workers make up the bulk of the customers. I was the only one wearing a tie and would often suffer daily heckles as I came home from DC. The "bed" is more of a 2 inch pad on a board. Safety? Lock the door. The facility has plenty of cameras, but during the course of my 3 month stay, the police showed up no less than 4 times. Twice for very obvious domestic violence calls. A man dragging his "woman" through the parking lot by her hair. And a separate couple reversed the roles by having a woman chase the man with a kitchen knife. The other two times I'm not sure what happened. The scariest event involved a full swat team visit late one night to a felon a few doors down. Price is the only reason to stay here. It's one step away from being homeless. And in some respects, I'd prefer living under a bridge.

Yes, it's by the train tracks but you hardly notice the train. It's not a big deal. I like that they have laundry cards instead of messing with quarters. My only issue was the tv. It's an old bulky tv that can't be hooked up to a Blu ray player. They had a ton of new tvs stocked up and wouldnt let me switch for a new one to be able to use the Blu ray player I got for Christmas despite the fact that we spent thousands of dollars there. It's located close to everything you could possibly need. Gavin was always friendly and super helpful. We really enjoyed out stay here. The other comment on here is just being picky. The price is the best you'll find in the area and no one messes with you. I walked around with my baby a lot to let her play and do laundry. No one ever messed with me.

Our dog is part Husky, and is a talker which a lot of guests loved him there, but Sandy was afraid of dogs and every time we crossed paths, whe called him aggressive and that she was going to make sure we didn't stay! My husband and I paid the $200 pet fee which my dog is my registered emotional support animal, so the fees should have been waived, but weren't. We were also charge the $10 a day pet fee which we should not have been charged either. Then, when I talked to Sandy at the front desk about the internet, we got on the topic about my dog once again, and she said that my dog had to be with me at all times. I explained that I cannot handle him pulling me when he walks, so my husband does that. She said nope, not going to work. I said I don't understand because Kane (my dog) hadn't caused any issues! She said it doesn't matter. Then she had thr audacity to ask with one between my husband or I had the disability with an attitude as if she questiined my disability!!! I said I do, and it's my back, as if I had to explain anything to her!!! IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO QUESTION A GUESTS DISABILITY!!! I CRIED FOR DAYS AFTER THAT!!! My husband told thr GM Jason, and he apologized and wanted to make sure the roaches were taken care of. I was not happy about staying there, but we had no choice because we didn't have a vehicle to just leave. So, a month goes by, and I go to the front desk to ask about extending the stay because we paid weekly, and I was told by Amanda that I was not allowed to extend my stay and I was being asked to leave per Jason the GM!!!!! I asked why and she only shrugged her shoulders and said I don't know, you need to speak to him. I said okay may I speak to him now and she said no mam, he won't take your calls. This is memorial day weekend mind you, and he was off until Tuesday, and this was Friday. I said how am I supposed to talk to him on Tuesday if we have to leave tomorrow morning. She said not my problem! I said we haven't done anything wrong!!!! She said I don't know. I said I have no vehicle, am disabled by the state of VA, and have a lot of stuff here what am I supposed to do? She said we'll you left us annsty review when you get here! I said we'll yes, what was I supposed to do? I was harassed and my disability was questioned!! She said well moost people who leave bad reviews leave, i said everyone that lives here leave bad reviews. She said we're not talking about them. I said so you're going to give me not even 12 hours to leave without a reason, she said yeap with a tiny smile on her face. So I go to me husband who calls corporate and they do nothing. Then my husband bega to get some time to get everything out and was given until Monday at 12 pm. He goes over to get our things out with my mother's help, and has one last load to do, not to mention Amanda's husband Shannon who acts like he works there but does not, follows them everywhere harassing them, gets almost everything, when they ask for 20 more min for the last load and the room would be clear. Amanda said NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of place is this???? My disability was questioned!!! I have contacted corporate who pleaded with me to get my lawyer involved which I do now have. Oh, and after we left, woodsprings TRIED to run my card for $200 more!!!!!!!!! Seeiosualy?!?!?!?!! I have never in my life been so humiliated and treated so badly by professionals!!!!!!! This stay hurt my mental state and I'm going to do everything possible to make sure something is done because everything about it is illegal and just WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!
