This Hampton Inn was one of the best hotels I've experienced in terms of comfort. It ticked almost every box to meet an excellent stay. The room was spotless, all amenities were stocked. The mattresses and linens felt brand new, crisp, and clean; and, finally a hotel that gets the pillows right! They weren't flat or too full, and there was a nice assortment of pillow lofts. They also seemed new. A fridge, refrigerator, and coffee maker in the room was nice. The bathroom was updated, with hot water at a good pressure. To be super picky -- no safe in the room seemed like an oversight, and the towels were too thin for my liking. The breakfast was standard hotel buffet fare, but they did offer hot food (omelets, sausages, etc.). We did hear the train, which was VERY loud in the afternoon, but heard nothing during the night or morning. We were there on a weekend, so there could be a limited schedule? Might be a good thing to inquire about before you book. read more

Nice Hampton, tucked in the back of a large shopping mall with all the amenities you could want. Behind the hotel is a railroad which being a rail fan, loved the sound of an occasional freight train. Room was fine, clean and neat, ice machine right down the hall. Pool was out of service but the fitness center was available 24/7. Rarely saw an employee at the front desk after checking in, but since the bill was emailed that was no issue. Parking was always available and we'll lit. read more

I stayed at this hotel while visiting family in the area and while it is a nice, clean, and well located property, I must rate it one star based on the horrid quality of sleep. Some genius decided to build this hotel mere feet away from a busy train track, and a route where there are trains all hours of the day and night. The train tracks run under a tunnel, meaning that when a conductor blows the horn, it's amplified. And yes, trains run through and blow their horns well into the wee hours. I was woken up SIX times the first night, at 1:13 am, 2:12 am, 3:34 am, 3:58 am, 4:24 am and 5:33 am from blaring horns and rumbling trains. The entire room would shake like I was in an earthquake. Same story the second night, but at different times. To make matters worse, I was given literally THE worst room for train nose, room 300. It was at the end of the hallway basically even to the train tunnel. I am far from a light sleeper, but the noise was deafening. Yes, the hotel provides earplugs in the room, but I am still super angry that I was shoved in the worst room available at the hotel. I'm not one of those "I'm an elite member so I deserve better," but come on! I'm a longtime Hilton HHonors Diamond member, and you'd think at least the hotel would treat us a bit better than guests walking in off the street. The hotel staff left much to be desired, as I found them to be unfriendly (especially those working the front desk late at night). The housekeeping staff was great. For the positives, the rooms are clean and have refrigerators, and there's plenty of free parking and free breakfast. Shopping and restaurants are steps away and easy to reach by foot. But all the good is strongly outweighed by the awful train situation. Avoid this hotel AT ALL COSTS if you want to get some sleep. read more

One night here at the Hampton and it was clean, quiet and efficient. I simply used my hotel room and never visited the fitness or business center. I did not stop for their breakfast. A large room (I may have been upgraded) with wifi that worked well. Bed was comfortable and the shower/tub was big enough to get myself squeaky clean before heading on to work. Plenty of parking and easy access to get onto the Interstate in either direction. read more

Here for a night due to travel into West Virginia, and wasn't disappointed. This property is like many other of its modern contemporaries across the country- clean, updated, and with a design & structure that seemingly puts you at ease right away. First off regarding its location- the property is not that far from Route 29 and I-66 (the closest Metro stop is the Nutley Street orange line stop in Fairfax). Folks, for those of you who write that this property isn't located near anything are clearly not looking carefully. The front of the property faces quite a bit of small restaurant venues and a Starbucks, all within walking distance. I venture to say that Starbucks alone is within 100 meters of this property. There are grocery stores and other restaurants surrounding the hotel that are also within walking distance in the Gainesville area, as well as being a very short drive for those that don't choose to walk. Worse case scenario, drive 10 minutes into Manassas between the Wellington & Route 234 areas. Further, the infrastructure within the Gainesville area is fairly new (between 10-20 years old) compared to the Manassas & Centreville areas. To say that there isn't anything such as restaurants & other venues close to this hotel is 100% FALSE. This isn't 1988, when there really wasn't anything around (the hotel + the surrounding area didn't even exist then). The property itself is probably a few years old, yet its very clear that it either is well-maintained, or recently renovated. It is not that old as its sister property in Manassas that was built in the early 90s, yet that property has also been renovated. I know the Manassas property extremely well, considering that I witnessed its foundation being poured so many years ago. Back to this property though. Customer service here is fine, yet slightly pretentious. But that's just how Gainesville/Manassas people are (I should know), so don't get offended. Welcome to Northern Virginia, home of some of the most pretentious people in America (I love it, though!). The breakfast is the standard Hampton Inn carbs & coffee that you'll find at other properties, yet this property seems to have a few additional options on the menu for some reason. Parking here is interesting. The front of the building faces the aforementioned Gainesville businesses (i.e., Starbucks), yet the rear of the property faces Route 29 and looks to be only used by the employees. The feeling that the rear of the this property (like any other property) is that there was greater privacy to load/unload luggage and other items that you don't want other pedestrians to see. Overall, this is a good Hampton Inn property. While I would have preferred to stay at the Manassas Hampton Inn location due to being close to the neighborhood that I grew up in for familiarity purposes (Stonewall Jackson HS, Class of 93'), the Gainesville location is conveniently located to access I-66 West quickly while heading towards locations such as I-81 and other roads that would allow for westbound travel. This Hampton Inn is very clean, modern, and the staff is about as nice as humanly possible. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little nervous about the trains; I'm not a light sleeper, but I never know how fully I am going to sleep in a hotel room... But it was fine. Actually the lady at the front desk offered ear plugs, and they had a set in the room, so I am content that they do everything in their power to make their guests cozy. Since the hotel is located in a fun area in Gainesville--right in the heart of the VA Gateway shopping promenade--if you are looking for something to do in the area, there is plenty. They also offered breakfast, a nice gym and a business area, although due to the nature of my stay, I didn't use any of these services. I would absolutely stay here again if I need a hotel in the area. read more

The Hampton Inn in Gainesville, VA is very clean and comfortable. They serve a hot breakfast and grab and go foods. Coffee and hot tea is always available. The rooms are equipped with a mini refrigerator and a microwave. The bathroom is large with tub and shower . A hairblower is available as well as shampoos, conditioners and lotions. The front desk workers were friendly and helpful. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the pool. I was told it was being serviced. When I asked when it would be available I was told it had been out of commission since last year. read more

I am so impressed by every aspect of this facility. It is clean and comfortable. The rooms and common areas are well attended. The staff was amazingly nice and helpful. I was here for a Taekwondo training conference and this was the closest home- but it was a great choice. It is also centrally located to a lot of shopping and food. I arrived at the hotel at 4:30 and was told that no rooms were ready and to come back in a half an hour. Mildly frustrating, seeing as I was trying to leave to get to a concert. The front desk was eventually able to get me into a room after a few minutes. The hotel was clean and in good repair minus a crack I'm the bottom of the shower. It is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. However, it is right across from a train station. The room shook and the trains were so loud. I woke up several times during the night and didn't sleep well. The blinds won't close completely and the room did not get very dark. read more

I stayed here for my best friend's wedding from Fri-Sun and myself, the other bridesmaids, and family had a terrible experience. Staff was not prepared for multiple wedding parties, were disorganized and sporatic with communication, and weren't very accommodating. Many rooms, including the BRIDE'S SUITE, were not ready at 3pm as promised; they required us to go downstairs for anything we needed in the room (including bedding, toiletries, etc.); they charged multiple credit cards on our account; they refused to provide additional key cards without proper ID, even after listing the names on the room and showing confirmation emails leaving one of our friends to stay in a different room; just horrible. The rooms themselves met our expectations and were cleaned daily, and the breakfast was full of any food/beverages you could imagine, but the professionalism of the front desk ruined the entire experience. read more

From check in to check out it was seamless. Front desk was really quick to get us checked in. We got a complimentary cup of hot chocolate (hubby got coffee) on the way to the room. I'm not sure what would bring you out to Gainesville, but for me it was work, and this is where I stayed. $150/night, very pricey considering I was 23 miles from DC, which equates to about an hour, but I wasn't paying. The hotel is very new and really nice. They even had toothpaste unlike the last Hampton I stayed at. Hampton does great free breakfasts in the morning too. Location of this place is in a busy shopping area, so getting to and from it requires being careful with so many cars turning and people getting impatient. Given Covid issues we felt safe. Lots of hand sanitizer and room door is taped showing that no one went in after it was sanitized. Staff was friendly and helpful. The usual coffee was absent and while I understand the problem with self serve coffee stations given the pandemic, there should be more available to brew in your room. This would be so easy to add and would mean so much more than lotion in the bathroom. We had a corner suite which The felt light and airy however it would have been nice if there was some sort of visual barrier, between the beds and the living room seating and adjacent kitchen area. The bed was wonderful and I slept ok, though freight trains on the tracks a few hundred feet away. During the day it's ok. Ear plugs are supplied at night, though the trains are long and loud. At least we weren't surprised as we'd experienced this while it was still light outside. actively though I don't usually when traveling. There are a few places for a quick bite within walking distance. We really wanted a nice sit down dinner with a brew so we did drive to one of the places a few miles away. Sad though that there wasn't such an option we could walk to. Admittedly if we'd done more research we'd have known that but it's a large hotel so we did assume there would be something! The breakfast options option seemed good, as they have a server providing some hot options. I asked for a scoop of scrambled eggs and honestly couldn't eat them. The first bite was hard . The best description I can give is it tasted like a chopped up yellow sponge. I don't like to throw food away but I was done with those. I did then have a yogurt and banana the. Walked to the nearby Starbucks for a good coffee. If the room was stocked with more than 2 pkgs or kcups of regular it would have been nice as the usual precovid coffee bar wasn't available. We'd had those the night before. Honestly, it's a point I haven't found the Hilton/Hampton at this price point responding to. Bottom line, while I wish I could have had fewer negative comments the staff and bed were such that enough we'd consider coming back if we were in the area again. read more

My family booked a room here for 5 days months ago. Last night when they checked in they were informed they would have to change rooms 3 different times in the course of 5 days. They have 3 young children (7, 3, and 1) and Hampton inn is not being courteous to their reservation at all. They even requested a room with a bath tub (remember...3 small kids!!) and were given a handicapped room without a tub. Also, one of the rooms they are supposed to switch to is going to be a king bed. With 2 adults and 3 small kids. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't spend your money here if you want to be treated with courtesy and respect. Or if you want them to be accommodating. So ridiculous because they booked this hotel stay (for a standard room) back in March. read more

The pool was clean and pleasant to swim in. The breakfast was pretty good for a free breakfast. I would stay here again. This was a typical Hampton Inn. The hotel seems new, and the rooms are in great shape. I was a bit surprised that we were warned by the hotel staff about the train that passes throughout the night. It is a freight train, and I only heard it while I was still awake. My wife is a lighter sleeper, and she said it passed four times throughout the night. If you are a light sleeper, I would avoid this hotel. If you are concerned, they do provide ear plugs in the bathroom. One of the best parts of this hotel is the location. You have unlimited options located around in terms of food and conveniences. If you want to eat out, there are sit down restaurants or carry out type places. If you want to shop, there are small boutique style shops as well as a Super Target. Easy on and off the expressway. read more

I stayed here for three nights while on business. This is overall a good location, with just a couple exceptions. Starting off with the good parts: The rooms are incredibly clean and well maintained. They have a pretty good complementary breakfast available with excellent variety. The staff here are incredibly friendly and even watched my luggage for a day after check-out because of my transportation situation. They have coffee available all day, so I can get my fix at any time. The only negatives: First, the bed itself is firm for my tastes. I can't totally blame the hotel though as this isn't a luxury property. The other issue is one that most others have mentioned: the noise, particularly trains. It's not awful, and they have done their best, but that combined with highway noise could be an issue for some. The hotel is adjacent to a shopping center, and there are plenty of dining options in the immediate area. I can see why my company continues to use this location for business purposes. read more

Who would build a hotel next to a freight train? The location is great. You can walk to food and shops, get gas. It's right off of main roads. Clean inside and out but the train woke me up twice. We booked a block of rooms for iur daughter's wedding. The process for booking became much of a hassle as the booking was done orginally through the hotel but then a central booking took over and every person who tried to book were told there were no rooms. After finally getting that fixed (which took over 2 hours), we had reserved 2 rooms from the block. One was for a family member, the other was for the minister and her husband. When we arrived at the hotel to deliver goodie bags for our guests we had one room changed to the relative, the other we wanted the name of the room changed but that we wanted our credit card billed for the room. Well as you can expect, they billed the room to the minister. What an embarrassment. The issue is still not resolved. read more

The facility and the rooms were very clean. Check in/out was simple and quick. The wifi is free but it's the slower version with no an option to upgrade which I find hilarious. The breakfast was a normal buffet breakfast. Unfortunately there was steak mixed with the eggs. After eating a steak dinner we weren't really interested in having steak for breakfast again. I can see how some people enjoy that. It would have been nice to have a non steak option. We walked over to the gym and there was a sign on the door that said pool is temporary closed. so I walked over to the gym used the phone in the gym and called the front desk and asked when will the pool reopen. She quickly barked "Are you in the pool." I said no I'm in the gym she said, "if you're in the pool area you better get out." I said so... What time are you reopening the gym. She replied, "soon". Stayed here for 2 nights while in town for a wedding. It's just ok. The good: The hotel is quite clean and looks rather new, especially the lobby, which has a nice snack shop to boot. They also have a pool!! This is quite surprising and a nice benefit. The bad: Their exercise room is sub-par (small, with dumbbells and ~3 cardio machines). The blinds do not quite fit the window, leading to a lot of light coming in. This is especially difficult if you are trying to sleep in, like the morning after a wedding, for example. All in all, this is your run-of-the-mill Hampton Inn. I'd potentially stay here again, but would bring an eye mask next time. read more

Would like to give a better review, but just spent a week there and got almost no sleep at all. FIrst, the hotel is built about 20 feet from a very active railroad. Every 2 hrs trains go by at 40 mph, blasting their horms for the nearby crossing. My 3 yr old thought it was cool, but it drove me crazy after 3 days of sleeping only 2 hrs at a time. Second, there is an open-air shopping center 100 ft away. They have outdoor speakers that blast the worst jazz music all night. I first thought it was in a nearby room, but when I left the hotel at 0445 the last day, I realized the music was coming from the mall. The hotel said they've asked the mall to shut it down, but they still play it. I will say that the hotel is spotless and the breakfast is good. The one business center computer has issues. Pool is clean and not too chlorinated. Parking is free. Convenient to the loud-as-hades mall across the parking lot. read more

WiFi average speed. Only complaints are a slight odor in the hallway (not an issue in room or other parts of hotel) and peeling paint on back of bathroom door. Otherwise I fine place. read more

I laugh because this area is where the residences did not want Disney to build a theme park and kept out Disney because it would ruin the area, sorry this area has been ruined by an overrun of shopping centers, houses, malls and highways that are always under construction, I think the area would have been better off and protected if Disney was allowed to come in. I stayed here for business conference. Not even sure what to say. The hotel has no shuttle to take you at least to the nearest metro station or bus station. The receptionist who checked me inn was a little clueless and spacey. The plus is that there is a shopping center all around the hotel a big shopping center with chain restaurants. There's a big target and a "Giant " Market. Other than that there's nothing else near. The room was very loud at night. I'm not sure if it was a train like other reviews stated or the freeway that runs parallel to the rooms. I wish I would have known this before I checked in on my app. its just was not what I expected. I thought at least it should offer a shuttle to the airport, shopping areas, or even the nearest metro. Room was clean bed was comfortable I did see laundry facilities, a gym pool. The location is convenient about 30 miles from DC and everything else 30 miles from Dulles. I used the hall/banquet room for a birthday party. The staff was beyond helpful considering this was the first party I had done at such an establishment. They lay out all my options and assisted me every step of the way towards having the perfect birthday party! From beginning to end, they were amazing! The price was very fair. They were honest and truly tried to help me save money wherever they could; especially providing me with the senior discount for 2 rooms which I had forgotten all about. The hotel is in an outstanding location as well. Literally walking distance to many shops and restaurants! HIGHLY recommended for partys and for needing a room to stay! Truly exceptional! read more

I recently stayed here for a 3 days. I can echo the other comments regarding the cleanliness of the hotel. It was spotless and the breakfast was awesome. Now for the train... I stayed in a room that was really close to the tracks. It was not bad at all. We could barely hear it. It didn't vibrate the walls or anything and I didn't wake up once during the 3 nights we were there. The hotel has earplugs in each room if needed. Obviously, the train will be bothersome to some that are light sleepers but I found it to be pretty nonexistent. Would definitely stay there again. This Hampton Inn is by far the best one I have ever been to. I tend to be a fan of the Hampton Inn in general because I know I'm going to get a clean and comfortable room after a very long day, but this one definitely goes above and beyond the greatness that I normally experience with them. First of all, it's in a fantastic location; there are a ton of stores and places to eat in the area. If it hadn't been absolutely freezing when we were there, I'm sure we could have walked to pretty much everything without even the slightest bit of an issue. You can easily check-in and then walk right to dinner and a movie (and then back again!). The rate per night here is definitely a bit high, but so was everything else in the area. However, at least with this place you most definitely get your money's worth. The employees at the front desk were all incredibly nice, and the free breakfast in the morning was fantastic. This Hampton Inn even goes above and beyond with the free toiletries! Along with the normal shampoo/conditioner/soap, they also include two sets of ear plugs, two shower caps, and some make-up remover wipes so that you can be as comfortable as possible when you drift off to sleep for the night. I would most definitely stay here again if I ever found myself in the area. I just really do wish it didn't cost so much money to do so. read more

We stayed a couple of nights at the hotel along with our out-of-town guests for a wedding in the Haymarket area. The hotel was quite nice, clean and well maintained. The Breakfast buffet was nice though the hours could be adjusted a little on the weekend. The front desk staff especially Talayya, helped make our and our guests stay a very nice experience. Even the housekeeping staff was courteous and friendly. The Hotel staff was very open about the train including providing ear plugs for sleeping if needed. I heard it but wasn't awakened.
