SpringHill suites by Marriott in Durham Carolina very close to the Durham and chapel hill border. My buddy and I was on a small road trip through Carolina to see mount airy and checks out some of the ACC schools stadiums and campuses out when we decided to layup in the area after checking our Duke and North Carolina. Like majority of Marriotts they had the complimentary breakfast, a pool, 24/7 fitness centers and spacious and comfy rooms. My only small complaint I would have is we got a handicap room and for some reason the bathroom and shower were separated by a wall into separate rooms. Overall as a long time Marriott member and frequent stayer this location meets the traditional Marriott standard.

There's a pretty nice hotel we stayed in while we were in Durham. I had a nice little view. Shower was decent. Room was good. Price was good. I'd stay here again.

Nice clean hotel! It's a little older than it first appears, but they gain a lot of points back for everything you can walk to. Tons of restaurants and shopping! I was checked in quickly with some waters for my membership. The rate was great

Thanks for the 3 night stay. The room was clean, plenty of tv channels to watch and most of all the bed was comfy. The hospitality personnel was awesome and helpful. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in walking distance as well. This will also be my first option if I am ever visiting the area again! Thanks you for the safe, comfy night stay with COVID policy in place.

A clean, modern, and overall fine motel however with a few seemingly unnecessary issues. For one, the design of the rooms is quite odd. The toilet and the rest of the bathroom meaning the main sink and bathtub are in separate rooms from each other I suppose so different people can use them at once but it's a very odd design and makes the whole room seem a little off-kilter. The sitting area is all right but the small area with the mini fridge and microwave also seems a bit odd how it's situated just inside the door. There's just something about the design and decor of the room that I did not really care for even though the room was quite large especially for ordinary room that's not even a suite. The staff is courteous although they seemed a bit disorganized during the complimentary breakfast and were not refilling the breakfast items as quickly as I would have expected and as usually I find at Hampton Inns and other hotels or motels of the same caliber or maybe even a step below.

    DISGUSTING couch

Visited this weekend from another state on a weekend where they had a lot of out of state tennis teams in town. It wasn't too noisy or congested in the hotel shockingly. Our room included a fridge, microwave, desk, 2 queen beds, 1 tv, & a pull out couch bed. The couch was DISGUSTING & FILTHY. The toilet was in a separate area away from the shower. I get the idea, but it didn't really flow well in my opinion. The beds are extremely hard. It felt like I was laying on the ground. The tv barely worked. Trying to watch HBO proved impossible because it kept buffering or freezing up. I had to entertain myself on my iPhone. I will probably not revisit this hotel. I'm being nice by giving them a 3 star when the stay is more like a 1.5.

There seems to be two interior dining ares (one with an upstairs balcony) plus a patio and then an open grassy area. It looks like they host many wedding receptions and other special events. I won't comment on the food or service since ours was cooked by a guest chef and served by volunteers, but I can say from what I saw, the owners/staff would do a great job with any event.

The cookery looks great from the outside: color mural on its side-wall, fancy metal, grillwork up front along with a cool sign are the only hints of what lies inside. For this charity dinner they had a bunch of long tables set up family-style for a communal dinner. In back the bar was busy and buzzing with action. And the overall space is not huge but comfortable and lit really well. Accent lights on the rough brick walls created a lot of visual texture for the eye. The space is open but still very personal. A landing area at top was unused and a storage area up front near the ceiling housed what looks like brewing equipment for Ponysaurus (?) Overall the Cookery seems like a great space for a corporate or personal event if you don't have a huge headcount. While there isn't much else right around here, the Cookery is worth the drive out if you've got an excuse for a visit...

Like how they changed up the complimentary breakfast in the sense that the next day is a bit different from the day before. For example, one day had sweet potato hash vs regular hash and one day they had the pork frittata. The mini scones were really good. Wish the brekkie manager would replenish the fresh fruit (the berries) more often. Coffee was kind of average. Appreciate that the soda machine was available during brekkie. Apples seemed to be the "to-go" fruit being offered and liked how they have citrus water out by the front entrance. Not sure if it's North Caroline or just certain establishments. For some reason, there was a lot of disposable tableware being used (cups, utensils, plates). Not very green.
