This property is easily accessible from I-40 at Durham NC. About 20-30 minutes from the airport and conveniently close to malls, hospitals, bookstores, area universities. It is also close to I- 85. The checkin was very easy and my husband and I enjoyed being on the first floor and our suite was very clean. I was concerned that certain items we needed was missing in the suite - the iron, ironing board, light bulbs for the lamps, forks, cooking pans, microwave rack bracket broken, ice machine didn't work. The customer service representative offered to move us to another room but the room available was missing items also. I was really concerned that only one person was on duty in the entire hotel. There was an issue with the WiFi necessitating me to to go up to the lobby very late at night to get the WiFi going. All these gaffes, just hampered my sleep- I felt so tired by the morning. However, I must say - the breakfast was phenomenal/ food was freshly prepared- area very clean, there was spinach, egg omelettes, cutup tomatoes, to name a few. The chef was very nice and helpful - letting me know some of the food available. Covid protection protocol in place- just a wonderful breakfast experience. I feel that the deficiencies in the hotel was a management issue and I take in consideration staffing issues- so the suite was very clean- I would book a reservation again but would take an iron and other sundries.

Kitchen was fully loaded with pots , pans ,silverware clean counters ,cabinets and fridge. Good size kitchen

Nice ,clean and friendly hotel and staff there is always someone ready to help or answer any questions you have. Laundry room is clean as well as weight room. The rooms are nice as well.

Sampling of one of many of these bugs in the hotel room.

PROS-Exterior was very clean, check in and checkout were easy and employees were very friendly. Breakfast was great with many options. Beds were fluffy and very clean. CONS-Bugs!!!!! Bugs were in the kitchen area and bathroom. Kitchen has not been remodeled. Floor board was not properly done so you could see gaps in the wall. Bugs were all over the kitchen laminate and quickly scattered as soon as we turned on the lights. Then they were found in the bathroom, as well. As much as I wanted to like this hotel I was scared that bugs would crawl all over me.

There seems to be two interior dining ares (one with an upstairs balcony) plus a patio and then an open grassy area. It looks like they host many wedding receptions and other special events. I won't comment on the food or service since ours was cooked by a guest chef and served by volunteers, but I can say from what I saw, the owners/staff would do a great job with any event.

The cookery looks great from the outside: color mural on its side-wall, fancy metal, grillwork up front along with a cool sign are the only hints of what lies inside. For this charity dinner they had a bunch of long tables set up family-style for a communal dinner. In back the bar was busy and buzzing with action. And the overall space is not huge but comfortable and lit really well. Accent lights on the rough brick walls created a lot of visual texture for the eye. The space is open but still very personal. A landing area at top was unused and a storage area up front near the ceiling housed what looks like brewing equipment for Ponysaurus (?) Overall the Cookery seems like a great space for a corporate or personal event if you don't have a huge headcount. While there isn't much else right around here, the Cookery is worth the drive out if you've got an excuse for a visit...

If your type is big, strong and handsome [BUILDINGS!], Full Frame Theater's Boiler Room has YOUR name all over it (him? her?). This incredible space welcomes guests entering Full Frame Theater, as well as sometimes its neighbor, The Power Plant Gallery. It's a VERY unique event venue flanked by mammoth coal-fired boilers that were used in the original building. You can admire the elevator shaft to the right of the front door, or envision the unseen inside (but very visible outside) base of the Lucky Strike smokestack which The Boiler Room "horeshoes" around. Enormous windows, concrete floors and brick walls give this space the perfect impression for any event [can I plan my next birthday party here?!] No space has ever scream contemporary meets historic so clearly! Plus, doors are open 9am-midnight, SEVEN days a week, so there truly is no reason to miss this drool-worthy space. Secret tip: it's air-conditioned and they've got tall-topped tables and chairs inside along the massive windows. This would be the perfect get-away from the office or {indoor} picnic lunch spot.

Our room had an amazing "fresh linen" scent of actual clean, as opposed to the telling cover-up scents you sometimes get w hotels. It was like walking into a suite no one had ever used. Every inch of it was spectacularly clean and lovely. I'd say the cleanliness of this room was unsurpassed by anywhere I've stayed previously. The bed was luxuriously comfy, soft new-smelling sheets & pillows. Sleep came easy thanks to the blackout curtains and true silence that lasted the night. I really appreciate the layout of the room where the shower stall & vanity are apart from the toilet & corner sink, divided into separate rooms, w gorgeous wooden-framed sliding frosted glass doors. A unique and pleasing look. The desk was such a nice addition, very practical but also aesthetically pleasing. We actually had a bit of paperwork/ laptop business to attend to and the desk facilitated that requirement nicely. Dining options in the immediate vicinity are too numerous to count. You will absolutely find what you're hungry for w/i a one mile radius. In short: stay here, you won't regret it.
