Nice size patio but COVERED in spiders webs, spiders, doesn't appear to ever have been cleaned or hosed off. Rooms are nice and seem clean, but they should pay at least a little attention to the patios for how big they are. This one happened to have a pool view, so much for that. read more

It was clean. Other than that, this place is an extreme disappointment. Sketchy area, unfriendly staff, hard beds, slow WiFi, pool closes at 6 pm (seriously?!?) sugary, carb laden, cold grab and go breakfast. We've stayed at many places recently that at least offered a breakfast sandwich or burrito ... not here. Bagel and cold cereal. For what you pay, a terrible value. read more

I really like this hotel. Love the cute lobby. I've never experienced a Springhill Suites with this decor. It's totally updated with the cutest theme. The room felt clean. The mattress and pillows were super comfy and I got a great nights sleep. It had a mini fridge and microwave in the room. The sitting area and bedroom were divided by a cute half wall. The vanity is separate from the tub/shower. The halls and parking lot felt fairly safe, were clean and well lit. The staff seemed nice. I would stay here again if I'm in the area. read more

SpringHill Suites exceeded my expectation for a 3 stars hotel in the middle of nowhere. The lobby and common area has a cozy colorful vibe. I am definitely a fan of the aqua scheme. Checkin process is quick and easy. The rooms are all suite size with a small living/work area, a kitchenette with sink and microwave and a decent size bathroom. The room was quite clean. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but at least it didn't give me a back pain like some others. The spa and swimming pool area are well maintained. There is no better way to dissipate the fierce summer heat than jumping into the pool. They also have a basic gym there if you really need to work out. The complimentary breakfast is foodie approved. They have good pastries, sausages, eggs, waffles and many other basic stuff. Definitely one of the better breakfast I have had in a 3 stars hotel. My only complaint for this hotel is the noise. The wall seems thin and not really sound proof. I could hear the conversation next door if I listen carefully. The noise of doors slamming closed and people stomping on the floor could be annoying for light sleeper. read more

Who gets married in Madera? Went down for a wedding recently and was pleasantly surprised, at least by the hotel. Not much to do in Madera, so I'm glad the rooms were comfortable! The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was tasty and had a good selection. If I have to visit again, I will definitely stay here. read more

This hotel seems like it was built pretty recently. The lobby is nice with a modern waiting room that doubles for seating during the standard hotel breakfast eating room. The rooms are clean with a functional layout. In the single king sized room we stayed in there was an extra comfy sectional couch and desk. The only issue is that although the hotel is located across the freeway from the railroad tracks, when the train rumbles through, twice during the night I stayed, it still feels like theres an earthquake going on. I swear I thought the "Big One" was going to happening during my stay in Madera.... I would completely recommend this hotel, just ask to be away from the freeway if you can. read more

This is a fantastic hotel in the middle of nowhere! In November 2009 I was working for the Western Band Association and this hotel was a short drive from Fresno State. I was working long, extensive hours...from 7am to midnight and running back and forth up and down bleachers and it was thrilling coming back to a cozy hotel room. Now, without even acknowledging the fact that this was indeed a hotel in the middle of nowhere (ahem, Fresno area), this hotel, and any others affiliated with the Marriott and applies to their Associate Discount Rates, did not go along with the typical Tuscan/Italian theme. This hotel was fresh and young and hip. With modern lighting and a color scheme of the ocean. Tealsl, blues, green, and white. The receptionist was so kind, courteous and warm when I checked in at 1am. They upgraded us to a suite with the queen sized bed and pull-out sofa since a marching band was also staying at the same place. My room had a fantastic little nook with a blue-green couch and coffee table, a pretty good bathroom, and the coziest bed. I've been a lot of places and this was quite possibly the cutest hotel I've ever passed out in. PS, The hallways feature a pretty elaborate wallpaper and carpet that follows that blue-green oceanic color scheme. For someone as exhausted as I was, stumbling back from to my room at 1am took a while; the wallpaper and carpeting disoriented me, haha. Breakfast was pretty decent. Waffle maker (which unfortunately, those damn band kids took over) coffee/tea, assorted pastries, cereal, etc. If I'm ever in the Fresno area again for band championships, I'd totally beg my mom to book a room here again. read more

I chose this hotel since it was moderately close to Yosemite without having to pay an arm and a leg for 2 nights. I was very happy that I chose this hotel! Very competitive pricing and great value. Staff - 4/5 Stars I checked-in to the hotel around midnight and was pleased to see that there was a staff available to help me out. Thankfully the check-in process was smooth and I was able to get to my room in a few minutes. Breakfast staff was very quick about refilling the food, housekeeping did an excellent job about cleaning my room, and the front desk staff helped me decide on the best route to take to get to Yosemite. Room - 4/5 Stars Although it was about 100 degrees outside, the room was set at 70 degrees and was a small oasis from the blazing heat. Bed was very comfortable, shower was great, very clean room but could get very noisy when the hotel is at a full house (especially during the holidays). I was facing the freeway so you do hear some road noise, however it wasn't loud enough to keep me from sleeping. You can step outside the room from the balcony, however I highly doubt people ever do due to the extreme heat around the area. Other Amenities - 3/5 Stars Breakfast included a very generous selection, including yogurt, sausages, eggs, bread, fruit and waffles. Everything is refilled constantly, even on a busy morning which I thought was amazing. Not much else is offered at this hotel which was why I had to remove a star from my rating. This hotel is located right next to the highway, but note that there is really not much available walking distance other than a Black Bear. It can get very dark around the parking lot at night so I did not feel safe having my car parked outside without security cameras in place (which I didn't see any located at the parking lot area). Other than that I really enjoyed my stay and will most likely stay here again when I decide to go to Yosemite. read more

Checked-In online 9-17. We were running several behind schedule and I probably should have cancelled the reservation but we didn't. When I arrived at 0300 on 9-18, I was informed by the night clerk I would need to wait 5-10 minutes maybe more to get my key, because their computer was running the night audit. I was the last room in a SOLDOUT hotel with an online Checkin through the Marriott app. A Marriott rep told me my key should have been waiting if I checked-in online. Poor planning by the Springhill night clerk. Didn't follow Marriott procedures and so I had to wait. I will avoid this location in the future. There are many other choices. read more

When you cancel someone's reservation you think calling the person would be nice? I guess the management at this hotel doesn't think that's necessary. They say we were going to be sent elsewhere but that reservation was also canceled by someone. Every time I stay at a Marriot I have problems. Stayed here overnight on a Sat for my niece's wedding on a group discount - there were a total of ten familes/rooms occupied. I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel is really clean and spacious. It is great for families; and we are a family of 6 so the double beds and pull-out couch was perfect. Breakfast was complimentary from 7-10 am and was fine - cereals, bagels, make-your-own-waffles, sauges, etc. It's free, easy and convenient so can't really complain. Kids took advantage of the outdoor pool and we were pretty much the only ones there. There is also a restaurant across from the hotel, maybe 20 steps away. The only bad review I have is that their elevator was broken and it would have been courteous to provide a discount since all guests (even my 86 year old mother with a bad knee and walks with a cane) had to take the stairs. Thankfully, we were on the 2nd floor and there were plenty of family to help her with her luggage. If the elevators get fixed, I would stay here again. read more

We've stayed here before a couple of times. Having the Black Bear Diner next door is great for dinner. In the past, we've been quite pleased with our rooms. This time, in order to get a king suite on the top floor, we were assigned a handicapped room. Presumably this is why the placement of the TV made for a very inconvenient entertainment. It was virtually unviewable from the couch. The couch itself was so deep that it was terribly uncomfortable. We'd stay again, but not in this particular room. One perk worth mentioning was their free on demand premium movie channels. A couple of other internet options were available (Netflix?) if you were a subscriber, or chose to become one. read more

Used to be a great place to stay when visiting but unfortunately they have not been up to par the past few visits. Do not get a room on the 3rd floor as it smells like mildew has invaded or something foul has happened in one of the rooms. There is also a lack of accountability when you complain to management. For someone who has stayed there faithfully since they opened, it does nothing to accommodate a frequent visitor when they have a valid complaint...will look elsewhere when I visit family. It's also too pricey for a town in the middle of nowhere and that has nothing fun to offer. Prices should not be compatible to prices that the Bay Area offers its customers. read more

During these lean economic times, hotels will nickel and dime you for everything from parking to storing your luggage (!!!) .... not here! Marriott's new little sister is this frequent vacationer's FABULOUS find! I hestitated a long time before writing this review, not wanting it to get booked up! My hotel-phobe husband even exclaimed, "This is the BEST hotel ever! Can we vacation in Medera every year ????" (You don't actually vacation in Medera, it's a truck stop between LA and SF for heading to Yosemite) His Loves 1) Sweet fffice set up, free wi-fi, ready to for all his plug and play work toys. Separate sitting area/office with a room divider. FREE COFFEE IN LOBBY 2) Generous hours on everything,everywhere! Pool open 'til 11PM, check out is a nice late noon (when other chains shove you out at 11am!) FREE COFFEE IN LOBBY 3) Hot breakfast (why no bread?). Nothing off the charts here but again, scrambled egges and sausage beats stale danishes anyday! Her Loves 1) Kid friendly pool area and pool hours, staff very accomodating, professional (but couldn't advise on simple hours of resturant across the parking lot, the ONLY resturant nearby really). 2) So clean, room and public areas, you could eat off the floor 3) CONTEMPORARY boutique hotel decor, an unexpected upper scalish look. 4) Convenient breakfast in lobby. Nice, clean, modern decor, and friendly staff! Much more than I expected when booking this hotel (this is my first time staying in madera). I would definitely stay here again. The rooms have a separate couch/desk area which is convenient, so you can sleep while someone else I working. The beds are comfy with lots of pillows. Free breakfast! Bagels, pastries, oatmeal, cereal, waffles, eggs and bacon! Yum! They also have complimentary tea and coffee 24 hours/day. A very nice find for lodging. It was very clean with a polite and attentive staff. While going down for a cup of morning coffee, I must have been greeted with five "good mornings" from staff. Awful filthy ! I stay here several times a month and have to look for a different hotel. This time my bathroom sink had hair shavings. Also, front desk old lady does not have a clue of the Marriott Way hospitality. She sees me every other week and still ask for my ID and credit card even when I checked in using the BonVoy app. She also disappears and hides in the back so no one is manning the front desk. Great place to stay, still relatively new. The rooms are exceptionally spacious. While the check-in was fast and efficient for me, I did notice some people waiting for service later. The hotel has a nice outside pool and hot tub, with chairs and pool towels. Did not use their exercise room but they have one. The breakfast included strawberries, cold cut meat, nectarines, walnuts, toast, cereals, scrambled egg, had-boiled eggs, bacon,... and was very well attended and taken care of. Stayed last night in a studio room with a king size bed. Great rate, outstanding room, and an excellent breakfast. This is a newer, clean and quiet hotel with a friendly staff. Location is good off of Highway 99, but a bit hard to find while northbound. Overall a great place to stay. read more

This is a fairly cheap priced hotel with a less than ordinary free breakfast. It is a good place to stay if you are going for the day at Yosemite but that is about it. The location is anything but attractive.... "Unless you plan on remaining within the hotel". For the price however, it is the best you'll find in these parts. One thing that you may want to do, should you make a reservation at this facility, is to make an additional reservation at another hotel in the area as they do not seem to care about a persons reservations very much. "At our last visit, we had made reservations over 2 weeks in advance for a specific room type (For our family of 4). We also called to confirm that room 10:30PM the night before coming.... Long story short our room was givenn to someone else and all we got was a bad apology and an offer to help book us into a hotel in another city"...... I have stayed at many Marriott Resorts and have never had such an issue....... "OK place to stay but do not count on the staff or management to care about you".... PS: Would like to have given "2 Stars" but the excuses I received from both staff and management were worse than the breakfast..... read more

Breakfast included a muffin and coffee nothing else. Fire alarm went off almost at midnight with no indication from staff regarding what happened, or when to go back inside. Other hotel guests gave us the ok to go back inside. It seems like they forgot exits exist on all sides of the building and only had people in front of the hotel go back inside. we would still be standing there today if the kind hotel guest didn't inform us it was safe to go inside lol The least they could do was give us an explanation. We stayed for two nights. Our check out morning we were surprised by nine vehicles having their windows broken, including ours. That's not the hotels fault, however if you're going to serve your guests muffins, only 1 bottle of shampoo and conditioner for two guests during a two night stay (hotel staff at front desk didn't even acknowledge us when they were checking staff in, how could we ask for anything, we decided to just leave) the least they could do is invest in cameras. Again, not their fault but it just made our experience here worse. My $200 two night stay became a $400 window headache. You get what you pay for. Never coming back. read more

This place is spotless. Rooms are large and new. All is brandnew and nothing to add on that. Coffeemaker was broker and wifi did not work. Both things could not be fixed by frontdesk and was disappointing. Breakfast was good and refilled constantly. The pool was small but clean, towels provided at pool side. The area is not so nice, only place close by is black bear dining but more options would be nice. Felt safe and although close to highway not bothered by the traffic at all. Usually I prefer Marriott over Hampton, but in the case of Madera, they are swapped. The usual quality I have come to expect for Marriott is missing from this Madera SpringHill Suites Marriott hotel. The problems started in the beginning: not only does it have cheaper entryway, which itself warned me to the rest of the stay, but the guests themselves were more rough than I expected having just visited my friend at the competition (Hampton). Then, the elevator reminded me of a dingy dungeon. The first room I tried was compact, so I went to the second room, much better. But I soon learned part of why the fresher generations and classes of people stay away from this place: wifi sucks. That's right -- not only does wifi have an average of 343milliseconds of ping latency (that's a third of a second!), reminding me of microwave or old modem days, but the bandwidth sucks, and the usual Marriott ethernet port at the desk in this hotel is non-functional, meaning my desktop was forced to share the already overloaded wifi. Also, it seems like the Marriott was first built before the Hyatt, so it sort of got the "creme of the cake" so to speak, and took that for granted, and got worn out, and then when Paris Hilton showed she couldn't manage her affairs, the local Madera Hampton was built by new fresh management that did a really good job this time. So, in an unusual twist, I'm jealous of my friend who is up the street in a suite of the same price that is 5x better. This in no way detracts from the usual character of other Marriott hotels. To each their own. For instance, I plan on staying in their Fresno Residence Inn, which I love, pretty soon. But, I may just take one night in that Hampton down the street here in Madera for their wonderful looking beds. As I sit here writing this, I hear my neighbors entering their room through the hallway. In this Marriott, the walls are paper thin. Now, as I'm trying to focus on getting ready for my studies, I hear the daughter next door using the toilet, flushing it, discussing some matter with her mother, clunking things around, exclaiming "Ouch!", and all manner of other things, and they don't strike me as loud people. Now, they're opening a wrapper of food, and talking about it. Now, in my room, I hear them chewing their food all the way from the other room, even though my door is shut. I continue to hear her chew through her food, talk through chewing, crumple the paper over and over, and have a normal conversation that here in my room sounds as loud as hell. This is not the proper type of accommodations for good hotel money. The people next door are so loud that I am going to start the process of not staying here tonight. This is very unfortunate. Maybe, I didn't understand the branding, that the "SpringHill" part means half-cocked -- I should have clued in on that. But it's the same price as the excellent place down the road. What gives? I'm decided: I'm going to break habit and stay at the competition tomorrow just so I can enjoy it. read more

It's clean, affordable ($105 for our room) and they serve a big breakfast (think eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, Nutella, etc). Not sure I'll be opting to head back to Madera anytime soon, but it's not because of a bad night stay. read more

I'm a needy person with last minute check outs to extra email confirmations. They always accommodate AND do it like it is no big deal! The room was nice and clean, the layout was a bit weird though. Not exactly a "spacious" room because of the strange way they put the bathroom in. Not a deal breaker but I wouldn't stay here with family. The real deal breaker was that the AC unit completely shut off at around midnight while I was sleeping. The system would't work at all until about 7am it came back on. My guess is that the hotel must deactivate the AC system overnight to save money?? I hope to highlight the lack of service and customer care at this business and save someone else the time and trouble. I contacted them via phone and email to reserve 4 rooms that were set aside for a special event. Two weeks later, I still haven't received an answer. What do you know? All the rooms are booked, but they claimed to have replied...only their email didn't arrive due to a glitch in their system. Wait there is more. They gave me the run-around and wasted my time. When I inquired about other rooms, their response was, "sure, we have other rooms at the regular price, but only King size." Ok, well, I was still willing to book 5 rooms, but asked for the group rate since it was their technology that failed and not mine. Right after I asked about that rate, they changed their response to, "oh, let me check with another group to see if they are still coming!!!?" Wow, so, I'm ready to pay right now, and they want to wait for another group to confirm? Oh, right, this other group was paying at a higher rate. Oh, and did I mention, last year, they refused to take a check issued by a business for payment upon check-out? Made me wait an hour, which made us late to our event. I should have learned my lesson from last year and just admitted my mistake then. The silver lining? They did refer me to the Holiday Inn Express down the street, to Susie, one of the managers, who saved my day by giving us the group rate and the rooms we needed. read more

This place was amazing, love the customer service. Great rooms, very comfy. The only thing i didn't like was a bed bugs. I am not sure if it was the crib or the room. Overall it was a great stay, love the rooms, balcony AMAZING BREAKFAST....I woulds stay and recommend this hotels to family and friends....Just word of advice double check for bedbugs , i probably got unlucky that day. The reviews are true. What a cute little find! The decor is fresh and updated. The breakfast = not gross, which is saying something considering it's free (oftentimes the choices are icky). The service was great. The only thing I'd recommend is asking for a room that does NOT face the highway, unless you want a built-in sound machine to lull you to sleep. Lull may be too strong of a word there, actually. Cute, cute hotel. I'll be back! read more
