Watch out for the Potholes !! This Marriott property is located near the Pittsburgh Mills mall. Once a thriving shopping mall, it is now close to its end, with many of the stores and shops closed permanently. The SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh is a very modern and clean hotel near the stores and restaurants still open in the area. Be careful driving into the hotel, as the roads leading into the hotel are full of massive potholes, so you have been warned. This hotel is a suites hotel and has most of the amenities that the brand usually has. This includes meeting rooms, a large lobby, a pool, a well-equipped fitness room and a very good free breakfast. My King suite was laid out in the typical SpringHill Suites format. The room has a living room that separates the bed from the desk with a wall. The bathrooms are clean and bright and have a good ceiling fan. There is a small area when you enter the room where you'll find a mini-refrigerator, coffee stations and a microwave. The rooms also have some modern touches, such as USB outlets and other easily accessible electrical outlets for more devices. The wifi is your standard Marriott Wi-Fi, with an additional tier for Gold members and above at no charge. The breakfast included hot and cold choices as well as fresh fruits, cereals, oatmeal and other items. During my visit, I had a good selection of eggs and meats to choose from. Bait and switch tactics at this location. The front desk informed me after check in the hotel was under renovations & with completion by November?!? No freaking way will it get done in time especially when your contractors are not doing anything but smoking outside and taking up parking spaces. I was duped at check in! Please go elsewhere. There is no notice of renovations going on the hotel website. Plus this hotel operated without water. In other words fire hazard!!!. My first night was ok, place was noisy with all the work going on, contractors loud music playing all hours, hence no sleep. I endured 3 nights w/o water, one in which was off all night. The management gave guests a gallon of water and no apology. Yet told me that if I checked out early would be charged for the full week stay. Geesh. I'm in town for work and this is all you can do when all hotels are sold out due to the Little League World Series was going on the 13th thru the 24th. Corporate needs to retrain all staff and front desk management with a remedial course of what customer service is all about especially in pleasing your paying guests. All staff had a negative and condescending attitude to guests. No apology, no water. Horrible experience. I will not be staying here in the near future. read more

We went to a birthday party in one of the event's rooms and it was such a great idea. There were games set up, cake, food, room for presents. The kids had fun and they were all contained in a spacious room. And this hotel looked pretty nice and everyone was very friendly. I know where I'm going if my water heater ever breaks. read more

What I hate about this hotel: 1. Dropped my stuff in the room and went to the gym. Very small with one treadmill which was occupied. When I got back to the room the door was not entirely closed or locked. Nothing stolen. 2. The mattress is very soft. My back is killing me. I changed rooms but the mattress in the second room is about the same, very soft. 3. Water comes out of the shower super hard and it pools to 3-4 inches at your feet. The stafff are very nice. I travel alot. This SpringHill Suites is on par with most. Service was good, property appears well maintained. Breakfast could be better... seems to be a theme post- Covid for some properties. Pool and exercise room are both decent and easy walking distance to mall, shops. Fairly quiet, no road noise in my suite facing the front. Stayed 5 nights, 1 of my weeknights was priced at $270+ with taxes - quite high for the type of property this is, but they were sold out. -Shrug-- read more

Also, it was in the shopping plaza so if you would like to get there early and shop around, it's a great place. Ross is literally in the same parking lot. This was our second stay at this hotel, and while I was not 100% pleased, it was mostly a result of the bed. I am pretty picky about matresses, and I would have liked something a little more soft. My husband was tossing and turning all night which kept me up all night as well. Other than the bed, I would give this hotel a 5 star rating. It is clean, the staff are friendly and competent. There is a fabulous breakfast included down in the dining area. I was quite pleased with the selection and assortment of things like toppings for the oatmeal and spreads for toast. We planned ahead and brought swimwear. Took a dip in the indoor pool. It was a tad bit chilly, but it was refreshing. The room itself was nice. Separate toilet/shower area from the sink. And a separate seating area with desk, couch, and kitchenette with microwave, fridge, and sink. Again - everything was clean. I just wish the bed had been more comfortable. I'm pretty sure it was better on our last stay because I wouldn't have booked again if I had any doubts. Location is great too - we actually spent most of Saturday down in Monroeville, but made our way up to the north side for proximity to shopping. The mall next door is nice, and there are adequate options for food (though mostly chain restaurants). read more

The hotel is next to the 2nd biggest mall in PA and walking distance to a Starbucks with many restaurants also a couple minutes walk. It has a big parking lot and is in a safe area the rooms were nice just like any other Marriott. The comp Breakfast was really good with a big seating area they also sell snacks if you forget to bring some. Pittsburgh is only about 20 minutes and you don't have all the traffic. read more

As a Marriot gold elite I expected a bit more out of my room, maybe a free bottle of water or something. Not to be found. My keys also did not work the first time I went to the room. Overall the room was clean and nice, with a small kitchenette, a work area, and a sofa. Plenty of room in the bedroom area to set up an ironing board. The breakfast was well stocked, even having lunchmeat items and waffle omelet makers. There's an Eat and Park about 200' from the main doors and almost every other fast food join in a square mile radius. In short, room was clean, staff was polite, nice breakfast. I was shocked at how much the hotel had changed in a little over a year since my last stay. Marriott rebranded springhill suites into marriott bonvoy, the wifi is still bad on the top floor, there's a $7 fee to park your car in the lot. it was very unkempt from the outer walls of the hotel needing a good power wash to my room being less than ready. There was hair on my bed The ceiling and walls showed very obvious signs of water damage There were flies in my room I had a pretty bad allergic reaction to something in my room so bad I needed to buy benadryl. The shower head was all corroded and had some nasty green gunk all over it. Overall cleanliness was bad, it was a big drop compared to a year ago. And the elevator was strange. The one on the right when in the lobby would jerk badly once you chose a floor. I go to check out and the clerk seemed not interested in how my stay was. Didn't ask me a single question. My money is green like everyone elses, I'll take it elsewhere and be better for it. I'll also tell my union brothers and sisters to avoid marriott all together. read more

We stay in this Marriott every December and I have to say, it keeps getting better and better! Were it not for Jesse and D'Shay, I don't think we would've had as good of a time! Jesse took my phone call on 23 December as we were flying in from California and I asked him if we could get into our room early. He actually blocked the room for us! Now that's customer service! When we arrived, D'Shay was there and she was awesome! She checked us into the room that Jesse had blocked for us and we were able to go rest at 7:30 AM after taking an overnight flight. I am a Marriott elite member but this customer service would have been given to anyone! That's how good D'Shay was! The beds were comfortable, the rooms were very clean, there was a couch and a bed which is always a pleasure, and the breakfast was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this hotel and especially recommend that you ask for Jesse or D'Shay! See you next year! read more

I will begin with saying the breakfast staff is amazing. They work so hard and are so kind! Also the girl who worked the front desk (Christina I think was her name) was super sweet and hard working. The problem lies in the rooms. They are super dirty and dated. The sheets were dirty, towels had trash under them, and the couch had stains. The assistant manager is rude and unprofessional. Stayed here because it's the only non-dive near my relatives. Amenities claim "silverware". You get one plastic knife/fork/napkin and two foam plates. Fridge has no separate freezer section and no temp control: everything freezes. Ever eaten frozen lettuce? Doesn't make an appealing sandwich. The promised breakfast is an insult. All meat all the time. Dry cereal, with only bovine lactation. No soy milk, no nothin. There may be oatmeal, which is unmarked, so no way to know if it contains butter or bovine lactation. If there is fruit, it's half rotten. Two stars not zero because the bathroom works, though the exhaust and light are rudely on the same switch. Pool is okay for kids; hot tub is conspicuously missing. read more

We attended a wedding nearby and this was the hotel that the bride and groom had blocked rooms in for their overnight guests. We live in the area and weren't going to stay over night. We decided not to drive back home so we could stay and celebrate a little longer. We called the hotel to see if a room was available. We were able to book a room last minute and every staff member we dealt with was exceptionally helpful and courteous. About 4 hours after checking out of our room and arriving home, my husband realized that he had left his (gold and diamond) wedding ring on the nightstand. Panicked, I called the hotel and was immediately connected with the manager. I told him our room number and asked if the ring had been found/turned in. He said that the housekeeper (Amy) had indeed found it, as well as my husband's belt, and that both items would be waiting for us at the desk. It so refreshing to see an honest employee who cares about customer service. Thank you Amy! Once again, every person we interacted with at the hotel was absolutely helpful, honest, friendly and courteous. Aside from our unusual "lost and found" experience, the room was also spotless, modern, quiet (even next to the elevator) and a really pleasant experience. I was coming into town for my fathers funeral and made a reservation so I had a place to stay. As plans changed, I called the hotel to cancel the reservation. The women on the phone told me there was nothing she could do as it was less than their 48 hour policy. I explained my situation and politely asked if she could make an exception since my father had died. This is where she got rude and was asked why she should help me for my mistake. I asked if there was someone else I could talk to if she couldn't help. She told me to hang up and call the same number and figure it out. When I tried to talk, she promptly told me she was going to hang up on me and did! I will never stay there again in my many trips to Pittsburgh to visit family! read more

Horrible customer service. I came to check-in at 10:40 pm and the front desk tells me "sorry room is not available there was a leak" and asks me to go to a different hotel 10:40 pm at night. They offered to pay for a cheaper hotel 15 min away. But no one had the courtesy to call me before hand if they knew this was the case. If I did not show up they would have gladly charged me for the night as "no show", then they would've automatically had information about me. read more

Nikki is assisting us in coordinating a block of rooms for our May 2014 wedding. She has truly gone out of her way to make this experience better than I had ever expected it would be! Her level of expertise and quick and efficient communication has eliminated much of the pre-wedding stress that I suspect I may have had elsewhere. Newer contemporary hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I like the Paul Mitchell toiletries which are better than most other hotel chains. The separate living area makes the room feel spacious and less confined than a standard hotel room. Complimentary breakfast is pretty basic but sufficient-fruit, yogurts, oatmeal, pastries, eggs, cereals, juice, etc. I will be staying here again when in town for business. read more

Nice clean hotel for a brief business stay. Unfortunately it's located in Tarentum, PA, about .3 miles from hell city center.

We got a great room at a great price (165). We just needed an overnight stop on the way to our destination and we fit 6 of us in one suite-like room. It had two queen beds and a fold out sofa bed. It was perfect for an overnight, however, it may have felt cramped for an extended stay. A wall divided the sleeping area from the sitting area. The one TV was on a swivel and served both areas (but not at the same time--but not a big deal for us). The bathroom was clean. Only problem was the toilet paper was affixed to the wall opposite the toilet. Not a problem for adults, but definitely an issue for a 7 year old. There was also a tiny kitchenette equipped with a sink, small fridge, microwave, and small coffee pot. Beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet. We didn't have breakfast there, but opted to eat at the Eat-n-Park adjacent (a tiny walk across the parking lot). This hotel is part of an overall mall complex, so there are plenty of restaurants and shopping very nearby. read more

Made reservations for a 4 night stay, Sun - Wed. Drove from Jacksonville, NC, brother arrived from Lawton, OK for sister's retirement. Check in was as usual, except young lady at front desk ignored everything we said or asked, as if she had her own agenda. Was told limited breakfast (due to covid-19) was in dining room from 6-9. Was never informed of a $6.50 charge per day for parking or would have parked next door at Eatn Park. Morning came, no breakfast or coffee downstairs in dining room. Inquired at front desk to be offered a paper bag and "cold" coffee. Turned down the bag, ran cold coffee through room coffee maker to make it hot. Evening came, returned to room, no room service. Called front desk, was informed Manager and co-worker were still cleaning. Never happened. 2d day, still no room service. Was informed that only rooms they are cleaning are for customers getting ready to check in. Turns out, spent 4 nights, no room service, no clean bedding, had to go to front desk for towels, coffee, and other supplies. Could have, at a minimum, have customers place towels in hall and replace daily. Better yet, how about a small checklist for occupants to complete and hang on door, listing what they need. I understand difficulties associated with COVID, but this was unacceptable. Should have been informed when checking in. Will stay at Holiday Inn, Harmarville when visiting in the future. read more

I need to say that hotel staff were very courteous and the room was clean. Problem was, there were a host of rooms occupied by unsupervised minors on some kind of travel sports outing, and they were playing baseball in the halls in the middle of the night, running rampant knocking on doors, and being very loud and confrontational to guests, including myself. I complained three times to management and then canceled my remaining reserved days, forcing me to get another hotel. There does not appear to be a satisfaction guarantee, so I lost the money for the night I couldn't sleep and spent downstairs talking time and again with the manager. I would say that the amenities were less than I expected quality-wise for a Marriott, with the bed being more like a springy box spring and some stains on the sheets that I wasn't sure were cleaned properly, but I would have been satisfied with a good night's sleep or even a fair night's sleep, which I didn't get. Again, staff were very courteous but the lack of a guarantee for satisfaction and the policy of allowing rooms to be given to unsupervised minors who then wreak havoc is unacceptable. read more

The customer service in this place is terrible. After visiting my grandparents who live in the area for 20+ years, my family overgrew their house long ago. We were extremely excited for this hotel to be built as it is a quick 10 minute drive from their house plus basic (I mean very basic) stores near by. However, every year it seems they treat us with more disrespect despite my family being Marriot rewards members. This year started small, we went just a few days after Christmas and I stayed just a night. Took a shower the next morning and the drain was completely clogged. By the end of my 10 minute shower the water was up to my ankles. GROSS! When checking out I informed them of the problem, politely saying it's not an issue, but something they should be aware of. We came back a few days later for my grandfather's funeral. After much traveling (my parents live overseas and came 8,000 miles for a few day's trip) my father asked for a late check out. He had to drive to JFK after burying his father and wanted to stop back in the hotel to pack up and shower before leaving. Without any consideration the concierge was completely dismissive and stated No. After my dad tried to explain the situation, she would have none of it and refused to even check with a manager. Now this was after the holidays, they were not completely booked the next day. Thankfully, someone over heard the conversation and did say they would leave a note for the manager, but after the disrespect was shown my dad had enough. Hotels are in the business of customer service and this girl had none of it. Completely dismissive and in no way accommodating. I checked into my room after the funeral viewing for my grandfather, I noticed a smokey smell. It wasn't very strong, but I thought it strange especially since the gold no smoking placard pasted to the wall. I figured must just be musty, hotel smell I'm too tired to say anything. I'm in this room to sleep and I'm leaving the first thing in the morning. Two weeks after my return from my trip I've found I've been charged $250 for SMOKING! I have never smoked a day in my life, I was never informed of this charge, it just simply appeared on my credit card statement. We called to dispute the claim and they are "going to show us photo evidence". How can you show photo evidence of this bull shit. And the way the concierge speaks to you is dismissive and belittling. Absolutely disrespectful. My family has become so fed up with this place. They have caused undue stress during an emotional time and need to learn a lesson in customer appreciation. TL;DR--no customer service. Make sure to photo shoot your room so that you can't be accused of smoking and charged $250 read more

Had a nice stay! Place was nice and the staff was friendly. The blonde girl at breakfast was so pleasant and cheerful and the area was the most clean I ever saw at a hotel breakfast. The food was hot and everything was filled. Even when someone left a mess or spilled the cereal, it was cleaned up immediately and the girl was always smiling. It made for a very pleasant morning. I would stay here again without hesitation. Convenient location and shopping area, although the mall needs a lot more regular stores to shop at and not businesses or schools or churches or kids activity places.
