The lady at the desk was very nice and apologetic. She saw we had prepaid ( if we hadn't i would have went elsewhere). We were on the second floor so we ( due to no elevator) hauled all of our luggage and suitcases up 2 flights of stairs in the pitch black also. The halls upstairs were long and dark. We got in our room and not only was it dark, there was also no heat or hot water. No food places would deliver to us bc their drivers didnt feel safe delivering to castle greyskull. I wouldn't have either tbh. I didnt have a battery pack so with my 10% phone battery, I ordered a cab for the next morning plugged in my phone and prayed it would come on sometime in the night. And it did sometime between 2 and 4 am. Pros: the front desk lady did a good job considering the situation. Cons: nothing around, ominous to pull up to w no power, no elevator, no heat, no electric, no food, no hot water. Gave me a few points on my account but tbh there should have been a refund or a complimentary night. Also curious if this was a problem of having no electric and we hadn't checked in yet, couldnt someone from hampton have contacted us and redirected us to another available location w power and water? I probably would not stay at this location again due to the lack of stores nearby but I love hampton so...ill stay at other locations under this brand.

It's located next to a train yard in what feels like an industrial zone, with absolutely nothing within walking distance. To make matters worse, they charge for nightly parking... in a massive lot in the middle of nowhere. That was never disclosed at check-in, so it was a shock to see it added to the bill at checkout. The condition of the hotel was unacceptable. The room was not clean--cracked and missing tiles, dirty bathroom, and an overall unpleasant smell. On our first night, we even documented large sections of missing tile and brought it to the front desk so we wouldn't be held responsible. The staff response? Cold, dismissive, and they actually laughed at us. Common areas weren't any better--the stairwell smelled like dirty diapers, which says everything about the upkeep. Between the location, hidden fees, poor cleanliness, and unprofessional staff, this place is a total joke. Would not stay here again.

The room also has a microwave, good-sized refrigerator, and a Keurig machine. Plenty of pillows are provided but the bed was way too firm for me. In general I found the hotel to be quiet even though a wedding group was staying here. Breakfast is so-so and it is 7 miles to the nearest Dunkin Donuts and no Starbucks in sight.

The ravine seems to be filled with a nature preserve/wildlife area, and it's a very short walk down into it if the weather is nice. The hotel itself seems to have been built right before the last big tech boom. There are no USB chargers in the rooms. There is no EV charger (a hotel automatically loses a star for that. You've got parking spaces. You've got power. It's not 1987 anymore. Install chargers.) The walls aren't super thick, so if you're lying awake at 11:15, and you've got neighbors who are banging, you're gonna hear it, but I've rarely been here when it's crowded, so hopefully that's not a problem you have, or I have ever again. One of the biggest perks here is the breakfast buffet. It's got premium waffle makers, fruits, breads, eggs, sausage - all kinds of good stuff. They really take it seriously for a small hotel buffet. The eating area is ample, has tables, couches, AND an outdoor area that overlooks the previously mentioned wildlife area. There's even an outdoor pagoda-type area, and a basketball court.

I stayed here one night because I thought the trendy Bloomfield neighborhood would provide a nice change-of-pace from the more established downtown area. I was also planning to drive to upstate New York and thought this would be a convenient location for a faster getaway. Well, a sudden winter snowstorm forced me to cancel the side trip to New York, and I ended up spending very little time exploring Bloomfield because I took a long nap in my room after a sleepless night in the previous hotel. Even though it was bordering on pointless to shift to this hotel, I still enjoyed the studio I reserved for $152. There was a comfortable king bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a corner sofa, and a 360-degree swivel flatscreen TV. It was a lot of amenities I didn't need, but hey, it was freezing cold, so the apartment set-up made it feel cozy. One other advantage was a sizable lot to park my rental SUV. Even though they offered a happy hour and continental breakfast, I skipped both. Instead I braved the cold and just strolled on Baum to find a decent greasy spoon for dinner and a quiet gay bar for a drink. Not a bad stay, and I'd consider a return to explore Bloomfield. The lobby area was really pretty and so much larger than it appears from outside. Free breakfast! The pool was nice and heated. We had it to ourselves both times we went in it during our stay. The hotel is located is a great area. Cons: It seems like the furniture was poor quality. Multiple times during the stay there was a panel that kept falling off the table in the kitchen area. The parking is pricey. I absolutely hate paying for parking. I wish this came with the hotel stay as it was also already priced on the higher end. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. I would probably pick a day that didn't fall on a holiday weekend for a less expensive stay.
