I fortunately have an ice cream date with my youngest neice so we headed to Soft Landing, Eagle today. Last week when I walked in, I was in awww at how cute this ice cream joint is. I didn't really get to check it out last week since I was in and out. Today, I really got to see all the fun details of the place. I just adore the coloring, the soft pastels is such a delicate way to brighten the venue without being too overwhelming. The big windows add so much natural light in. A small venue that's intimate and fun to enjoy your soft serve. My niece and I were instantly greeted by a handful of sweet girls behind the counter. All smiles and eager to help. I hope they maintain this kind of service. It was delightful to be greeted that way. I saw that they had pistachio last week which caught my eye! So, of course I had to have it today! I did ask for a sample just in case. It was delicious so I grabbed a kiddie pistachio and chocolate mix. My sweet niece got a kiddie strawberry with brownie pieces. The tables were actually full when we were ordering. We must have came in at the right time cause quite a few tables opened up after we paid. We got a little table by all the merch. I noticed a little fridge with pre made ice cream sandwiches to go. Sprinkles, caramel sauce, bags and of course those soft t shirts were nicely organized on the wall. You know I had to check it all out after I was done. Everything was too cute not to look at. My ice cream so was good! The pistachio and chocolate combination was chef's kiss. I always have good intentions on grabbing a kid's size to be mindful of my diet. But I always regret it cause I totally could have eaten a bigger cup of this combination. I probably should have added the brownie pieces like my neice. Adding brownies to ice cream is always a win. My neice's cup was completely cleaned out so I will take that as my neice enjoying her treat as much as I did. I'm so happy that this local business opened up a second location. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a local business thrive! I love that this location is so close to my house. I have the downtown location by my work. The best of both worlds. Today's visit couldn't have been any better! Staff is lovely. Location is prime. Our soft serve was fantastic! I look forward to coming back and seeing what new flavors they have next month. The way the toppings are displayed is very high-end and makes them appear almost like a delicacy. So, great presentation! Nice menu up on the wall with clear pricing and instructions for how to order. The workers were polite and although a little frazzled because it looks like they're still learning, they were fairly efficient and knowledgeable. The reason for the missing stars is because of the most important part of a place like that, and that is flavor. I've tried multiple flavors, and all of them are extremely bland, even the vanilla which is a basic flavor, easy to create. I have to say the one that left me lacking the most was the pistachio. It was almost as if there was no flavor at all. Yes, this place will remain popular for a while because our town has been yearning for a quality ice cream shop since Scoops closed. But once the buzz dies down, I recommend that they start offering quality real scooped ice cream in addition to the soft serve. That is, if they can find a way to give those flavors of flavor boost.

But holy ass if you can't scoop out a full size scoop out of the bucket in one try don't open a creamery. For one it was so hard to watch. The ice cream is supposed to be a scoop that's velvety and easily placed into a cup or cone as a choice. To see people get their first lick in and have it be on the floor within seconds is horrendous. It would crumble at the touch. It was not soft or creamy. It was overly frozen. It was given "freezer burn" vibes and taste. It would not scoop out of the bucket you had your employees give up after two scrapes and tried to hand me a 20% full cup of crumbled ice cream pieces and was still under the impression like I was going to pay for that? No! That's hilarious to me actually because the amount of patience I had standing in line knowing I should have walked out was purely on me. 5$ per kiddo scoop? Oblivious.
