We've been here dozens of times, always good, but not last night. I ordered the Carnitas with Mole, I've had the regular carnitas many times so I figured adding mole would just make them better. What I got was a lump of overcooked, dry, unsliced, unseasoned pork roast with the mole poured over at the table. I spent the first five minutes just trying ti cut and tear the pork baseball apart and stirring it in the mole. I kept picturing Chef Ramsey taking a bite, spitting it back on the plate and flagging down the waiter,. "This is disgusting!" You know meat is dry when you must drink something because it keeps getting stuck on the way down! What I should have received was seasoned carnitas that spent at least some time with the sauce in the pan. I had to stop it was so bad! If it hadn't bern Valentines Day weekend, and if we hadn't already waited an hour to eat because it was busy, I'd have asked the waiter for something else. When the waiter came to check and asked, I was honest, he apologized and offered to have them prepare something else, but by this point I was just ready to leave. The Manager came, apologized and took my dinner off the bill, the right thing to do. We used to live in Kuna, but now it's at least an hour drive round trip, so I doubt we'll be back. Maybe if we are meeting friends/family in Kuna, but just us, I don't think so. Time to find good Mexican closer to downtown Boise! read more

This review is for the Taco Tuesday evening buffet. We'd been wanting to try this offering for years and finally made it. Sadly, the food was just ok. The pina colada was good, just as remembered, but drinks arrived half way through dinner. It's odd we were charged for chips we requested, instead of being told they were part of the buffet. We were told the new Friday lunch buffet (11am-2pm) had more selections, including dessert. Next time, I'll stick to the regular menu and get exactly what I want. Lesson learned! read more

We love Enrique's. They've done such a great job of carving out a niche in Kuna. It says a lot when people drive from Boise, Nampa and Caldwell to enjoy their food. Owners Enrique Contreras and Ana Paz worked for El Gallo Giro for 10 years and then bought the restaurant. Eight years ago they moved to a larger building. We enjoy their special occasion celebrations. We visited last night for their Dia de los Muertos -- Day of the Dead -- festival honoring families' ancestors. The regular menu features a lot of traditional dishes and not just the Americanized ones found in most area Mexican restaurants. On special occasions they roll out even more dishes. This place is simply the best. We came in again last night for a family dinner and had such a wonderful time. We sat in the back area this time and the view was beautiful! What a nice resturant! Was all dolled up with beautful Christmas Trees and nice music in the background. Service was good. Got seated around 5 pm as a walkin with no wait. We started out with Gaucamole, table side, then my sister ordered the queso con chorizo, that was so delish! Then came the food, I ordered the Chile Colorado, again it was yummy. We've been coming here for years. But, it's really gone downhill. Salsa tastes like tomato sauce, no flavor. We got the next spicier salsa and it also had no flavor. Food was dry from sitting in the window. They weren't busy, so there was no excuse to not bring out hot food. It seems like Enrique isn't involved in the business any more. Service was very slow. I visited here while in town. One of the highlights of my trip! The entire experience was 5-stars. The restaurant decor is beautiful and feels upscale. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and helpful, but I was also wowed by how everyone who walked by our table offered to take dishes or refill our water. A true team they have working here. The table side guac was delicious! The drinks were huge and had the right ratios. The Molcajete was truly the best I ever had. The flavors were incredible, and don't knock the cow tongue til you try it. So tender and flavorful. Enrique himself visited our table and we were able to personally compliment him for a fantastic experience by way of food and service and atmosphere. We were invited for a birthday dinner here and never knew about this place. Upon entry, this place has a nice vibe. Cute decors. We ordered: Coctails: Mezcaltini, and the Flor De Oaxaca - both were presented in a fancy cage and the drinks were delicious! Another drink was the Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita - it was good. I got the large size and maybe next time, will add an extra shot or tequila. The Jalapeno poppers were very tasty! Be cautious though as our peppers were on the spicy side. It was still yummy! We also got some guacamole and chips and salsa which were good. Main dishes: Molcajete - where it was a combination of shrimp, beef and chicken. Very flavorful and came with rice, beans and your choice of tortillas. I wish I ordered it with either all shrimp or shrimp and beef only. The chicken was on the tough side. This portion was tons so be ready to share! We also got the Plato De Cabrito - very flavorful as well. Dessert was churros and ice cream I was a bit disappointed with the churros as it was still doughy inside. Just ate the ice cream instead. Service was great! Atmosphere is really nice. I have been wanting to try this upscale southwestern Mexican restaurant located in Kuna. We made the drive from Star on a Saturday afternoon. The interior decor is very modern and tastefully done. We were coming for a lunch and the menu was extensive. Our server was helpful, kind and very attentive including redoing our bill to take advantage of a senior discount (55+). We started with the table side guac and chips. Guac could be tailored to your spice level and we asked for hot. It wasn't that spicy but that could just be the jalapeno pepper that day. I ordered the birria beef tacos with consomme, beans (I chose pinto) and rice. The serving was large 3 tacos with plenty of beef. The tacos were soggy not crispy at all and couldn't be picked up to dip in consomme so I ate with fork. The consomme was bland and had no flavor. The beef was tender (probably chuck roast) but also had no flavor or spice to it. The beans were good served in its own tostada shell. The rice as expected. I had 2 tacos to take home and my husband appreciated the leftovers and once he added his own salsa and heat he was satisfied. My friend opted for veggie quesadillas and a side salad. The quesadillas were filled with some onions and peppers they weren't charred at all and they could have added some cactus , tomatoes. The quesadillas were covered in melted cheese my friend was satisfied. I really wanted to love this place and maybe would return to try some other dishes. My 4 stars is because of the interior and great service. Birria Tacos were a 3 star rating no real depth of flavor you should get with the various peppers used to make a good birria taco. read more

This place isn't as great as it used to be. Let's start off with the building. It is gorgeous inside. They put a lot of work into this new place. Bbuutttt it has been gentrified so much. It is so big, it has lost the nostalgia. It is just like any other commercial restaurant. So, on to the food. Have to pay $1.25 for chips and also $1.25 for salsa now. It is what it is. Every thing is expensive now. The chips taste so weird. They have this smokey/burned smell and flavor. It is super weird. They have a great crunch. Chips ya know. The salsa was really good. Had a nice kick to it. My two colored enchiladas really had no flavor. The chicken one is a mix of dark and white meat. I think it was a verde sauce(?). Not sure. The cheese had no flavor and I think it had a sour cream sauce. The beef one had the red sauce. Sauces had no flavor. I was super disappointed. We also got the Colorado burrito. The meat and beans weren't spread evenly. Half of the burrito was beef and the other half was beans. The meat looked like it was in some pretty big chunks. We made sure to get a lot of soda refills because that was the only thing that was complimentary. Maybe after this they will see this and start charging for refills. They charge for chips I don't see why not. I probably won't come here again, if you like it don't let my review deter you. I did my review and the owner responded. I said a small part about the chips, but I guess he didn't see how I described the quality of the food. I never once mentioned anything about his staff. Enrique's is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Southwest Idaho and beyond. The food is excellent with a large variety. Quantities are more than enough and I usually take food home. Service is always top notch with a waitstaff that seems to anticipate your needs. The facility is immaculate. With several choices for Mexican food in Nampa. First of all. I like the atmosphere and the music. We went here for a special anniversary celebration. We made reservations and only had to wait for about 10 minutes. Our server was very accommodating and personable. We ordered an appetizer and some entrees served in the stone bowls, and a chili relleno. We ordered a lot of food because we were planning on taking the extra home. Also ordered some special lemonades which were good. I love the orchids they serve on the drinks. The entrees were okay. Mine was a shrimp dish with jalapeños and some other veggies. I think the jalapeño flavor overpowered my shrimp, but I still thought it was good. My husband ordered the ribeye with jalapeños and veggies. There was so much fat in the ribeye strips. The flavor was good, but about 1/3 of the meat was fat. We ordered the jalapeño poppers. I wasn't used to having meat in the stuffing. It was good though. The bacon was undercooked. I wouldn't order it again. I also ordered a chili relleno. It was served on a warm plate which should have helped to keep it warm, however, we were seated at a very small table and they had to take the chili relleno off the warm plate and put it on another not warm plate which had rice and beans on it. The reason this mattered was because there is so much cheese in the poblano pepper, if it is not warm, it just becomes and solid mass and is hard to eat. Then there is a solid mass of cheese of the top of the chili relleno which is also hard to eat. Maybe mix the cheese with some white sauce to make it more palatable and easier to cut with a fork. We had the dolce de la leche cheesecake to take home which was very good. A couple of points that made the meal not as enjoyable as it could have been was the small size of the table. We could not fit all the food on the table. The food spilled off the plates and onto the table which made a huge mess. I had to make sure not to touch the table in order to not get any food on my hands or clothes. And the fatty rib eye. Towards the end of the meal, we were feeling a little grumpy and then the staff surprised us with a celebratory light and song, which was fun and lightened our mood. Then when someone came to clear off some of our plates from the table, he asked how the food was. We explained that there was a huge amount of fat in the rib eye. He said it was because it was ribeye which has a lot of marbling in it. We said no there were huge pieces of fat, not marbling. Then I think they must have seen all the fat we put aside on our plates and when we got the check, they took of a substantial amount of money from our bill. We appreciated that and it eased our minds a little. I gave this review 5 stars just because I usually have a good feeling when I eat here. And our server was lovely and helpful. But I think the next time, I will just have a dish that doesn't have a lot of sauce, (the meat is not hiding in the sauce) just maybe carne asada or tacos or enchiladas. We happened to be out that way after going to the pumpkin patch with our granddaughters (2 and 19yr old). Looked for something close to where we were and Enriques came up. Got there before the mad rush so we were seated quickly! Got the table quac, plus chips and salsa. I have to agree with the other reviews that you shouldn't have to pay for basic chips and salsa. Our meals came and we weren't disappointed. Loved the restaurant decor both inside and out. We will definitely go back with our friends to also enjoy the adult beverages! Service was excellent. Enrique's is a fun place to stuff yourself silly. Grab a margarita (on happy hour is a screaming deal), munch on some chips and salsa (first round is complimentary and you have you have you ask for them), and enjoy your friends/family around you. I recommend planning ahead. We went on a Saturday and we waiting for about 2 hours for a seat. We sat at the bar sipping drinks to pass the time, no food was available at the bar that day. Don't be in a hurry if you show during a busy time. They don't really give you an estimated wait time which probably means a long wait. I suggest going during the week during happy hour (earlier the better)! We never have to wait and we often get a marg or two on happy hour. Yum. There is a downfall of going so early, no table guac but we always survive that obstacle. They just make it for us in the kitchen. No matter what you order, I am pretty sure you will have a happy belly. If you always wonder, like me, if you will get enough to eat, you will and I have decided that I probably need to split with someone. I have leftovers every time! Like, EVERY-TIME! So while the prices are a bit steep (I get that things are just more expensive now), I do think I can split that cost by sharing my meal to make it more affordable... which means I can eat here twice as much. Double win! Big, busy parking lot, seems to be enough parking. When you wait, they have outdoor games to keep you occupied. read more

First time here today. I was so happy to finally find authentically good Mexican food in Idaho after living here for five months and being disappointed at other places. My husband and I shared a fajita plate with carne asada and shrimp. It came with a side of refried beans. Plenty for both of us. We ordered a side guacamole that was huge and made in front of us. Delicious. $15. Jose was our server and he was excellent . Professional, helpful, courteous. The only reason I'm not giving Enrique's 5 stars is because they charged $2.50 for chips and salsa. That's ridiculous. Also it was off putting to see a huge tip can on the cart of the guy making the guacamole. The restaurant has a classy vibe and expensive bottles of liquor all over the place on display. So they can spring for the $2.50 for chips and salsa like other restaurants do. This restaurant has gotten too big and in so doing lost its authenticity, quality and the prices are way too high. On top of that they charge for chips and salsa! Who does that?! It's unfortunate to have a nice place with such disappointing food. Don't expect any food from scratch. Everything we had was "store bought" or out of a can. For the record, I have been more than once to see if there was any improvement and it only got worse. read more

Our family visited this restaurant for a birthday party last night. We decided to share the fajitas, because usually when I go to a Mexican restaurant they serve you a very large portion. This wasn't the case and not even enough for one person. It was ridiculous. Plus, we ordered a shrimp for an extra charge and $9 for extra plate. We received 4 pieces of shrimp, five very thin small pieces of steak, and three tortillas. No extras. So forty some dollars we barely ate a full meal. With the portions being so small, I would not go back to this restaurant. read more

This restaurant is top notch. The inside look is very elegant but yet inviting. I am usually very critical of Mexican restaurants but this place is legit. I ordered a michelada and it was good. The molcajete was good as well. It was a lot of food. I am glad they don't cheat you out of meat in the molcajete as I have experienced from other restaurants. The service was outstanding, the staff is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend getting the table side guacamole, you can tell them the heat level but I recommend going more on the spicy side. It's well worth it. My only complaint or issue was the signage outside of the restaurant. It was not very clear where the restaurant was. It takes a lot for me to have the energy to write a review - it's just not my thing. But I have to share about our experience at Enrique's. We've been wanting to try this place for the last 5 years but haven't wanted to make the drive. WE. WILL. BE. MAKING. THE. DRIVE. AGAIN. We went on a Tuesday and their taco Tuesday buffet is amazing and crazy reasonable in price ($15 all you can eat). Plus, they had cochinita pibil which I haven't seen on a menu in this state that I can recall. However, the true reason for writing this review is the service. Ron, our waiter, was one of the most phenomenal, memorable, attentive servers we've ever had. We said it was our first time and he made such an effort to point out specialty dishes as they passed by our table. He frequently checked in on us, he was so friendly and personable - we were all blown away. It has been too long since we've had a meal that held up as far as taste, quality, AND service.
