I went with a couple of friends for dinner- we were around the area and thought it was an opportune time to show them a place they weren't familiar with! I've been here since I was a kid, and though some things changed, alot hasn't! This was during a world cup game, so it was very lively at pub areas as they were broadcasting live. Everyone was so invested, from the patrons, chefs, servers, and even line cooks! Went to a stall selling the 'best corned beef sandwich' from Magee's kitchen. The servers and cook were super nice and the corned beef on display made my mouth water! It was very good, and paired with their blood orange soda, wasn't too heavy! It was a big enough sandwich that I took the other half home! I also got a cornbread muffin from Gumbo pot- which was good but a little dry. There's plenty of shade, though the area is mostly outdoors- lots of trees and buildings with covers and awnings. There's a fancy French market in there and plenty of eating options (though open hours vary). Come by this historic stop, walk through the Grove, and enjoy the hustle and bustle!

You can also park in the Grove's multi-story parking structure, but they will not accept validation from Farmer's Market businesses. The Grove also has Valet parking on premises. Everyone is so welcoming and it is such a great time supporting vendors. There are tons of vendors to choose from, and so many healthy and delicious options. Did I mention that some vendors also offers samples of their delicious fruit? If I am not mistaken, they accept EBT vouchers or have a system in place for those who do receive it. There are some vendors selling food like pupusas and sandwiches which I have yet to try, but the line is always long which is definitely a good sign. Definitely recommend grabbing a bag (or many) of popcorn from the vendor who sells them. They are delicious and always a wonderful snack. I really like how there are healthier options being presented in my city and wish there were more of these farmers markets in Southeast Los Angeles. It does get a bit busy around 10 am and most items like the baked goods are gone by 1 pm so be sure to plan accordingly. My current favorite here is Solis Bagels, which is a pop-up bagelry with what I consider to be the best bagels in Long Beach. They have really good bagels and schmears, but what brings them over the top are their farm-fresh ingredients. The nice subtle touches are the sprinkling of salt, a light pour of olive oil, and a squeeze of citrus. It, for good reason, has the longest line in the market. There are other food vendors here like Colossus bakery that are staples. I want to come back next week for the tortilla Espanola vendor. Being the end of summer, there were some amazing hybrid fruits that were in the market. I can't even tell you what the fruits were because the farmers cross pollinated a bunch of stuff to make delicious stuff.

It happens each Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM. This market is filled with all your essentials. Tons of fruits, veggies, cheeses, meats, baked goods, flowers, house plants, dips, and more. There was even a bagel spot with a line about 50 people deep. I am my best self at a farmers market, but often leave with an empty wallet. I snagged hummus, kombucha, green juice, and a floral arrangement in one visit. A few things that make this spot incredibly special: 1. there's a plethora of parking and it's free for the first 2-hours. 2. They literally have a dog valet where you can drop off your pet before shopping the local vendors. Quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. 3. It's literally hosted at the marina with a gorgeous view of the boats and water. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon picnic with your farmers market goodies. Highly highly recommend adding this to your weekend itinerary.

You'll also find the same sourdough bread sold across all the farmers markets and I even saw fresh fish. I arrived around 9am and it was somewhat busy. There is plenty of parking available. Bring cash, you'll avoid the 50 cent transaction fee that most charge. I'll definitely make this a repeat stop. I also loved that Trader Joe's is right across the street in the Cerritos Towne Center.
