This is a good "dive bar". Dont expect artisan martinis and gastropub fare. Its mainly a place that serves up bottled beer and well drinks - for cheap. They always have good specials and a friendly staff. The crowd can be a little crude sometimes but they're nice people. Food is ok. Nothing too creative but it tastes good enough and the price is right. They routinely have karaoke, poker, and an occasional live band. They provide a fun night out without spending too much and thats a good thing in my book. read more

It's an okay place to go to for a cocktail and it's close to home. Prices are ok. Always check the board for the specials!! The bartender who used to be there was nice,but left. We meet a friend there occasionally. The food is decent. Don't sit in a spot where you can see the food prepared, it may alarm you. They have a regular crowd and anyone else is really an outsider. I was absolutely shocked honestly. Our friends were in the process of moving to Grand Rapids and this was one of their favorite bars, so they decided to hold their event here. Of course this bar is WAAAAAYYY out there in Clermont, on the border of Hendricks County. So we were being super lackadaisical and whiny about having to drive what seems like 24 hours from Downtown/Fountain Square, but then we came to a realization. Any time we are, for a lack of a better word, bitching about doing something, we have the time of our lives. This is a bar you can smoke inside of, which I don't mind. I can see some people having an issue with this, but it is a fairly ventilated place. Beware if you do decide to use some TouchTunes credits to play your favorite tunes, make sure to choose the right jukebox, because there are two. My friend accidentally bought them for the wrong one, so we made sure to play the silliest of songs for the people in the back trying to have intimate moments with their dates and friends. In the end, the credits on the wrong jukebox ended up being totally worth it. Stephanie was her name, but I think she spelled it like Stefani on the receipt, was an exceptional server. She immediately memorized all of our tabs by our first names and was able to get super quick service throughout our time being there. The drinks are very cheap, so there is no issue there either. They do serve food! My friend got the fried cheese cubes, she says they are about on the same level as Olly's cheese cubes if you ever had them. So that means they were pretty good. She also had some chicken tenders that were covered in buffalo sauce that everyone was raving about. It is a little out there, but I do recommend giving this place at least one try. Spykes has traditional bar food and everything I've had so far I've enjoyed. There are daily drink and food specials. Friendly bartender, Jennifer, took great care of us. I haven't been here later in evening but bar clientele varies from early 20's to retirement age and appears everyone enjoying themselves. Chicken wings were crispy with a very tasty hot sauce. Wings are larger than several places and I'll certainly order again. My husband had the Sypkes Tee Pee burger smoothed in chili with onions and jalapenos without the cheese normally served on it. He found it to be good but would try something else next visit. Nice place for Saturday lunch with good music and folks sitting around laughing, having a brew or Bloody Marys together. This is a smoking bar but the smoke was at a minimum even with about 15 or 16 people around bar while we were here today. Games, dart boards, pool tables available for your entertainment pleasure with a different local band on Friday and Saturday night's. read more

I wish I could post old photos. I've been going here since 2008ish, when I bought my home. Today (NewYears) my friend was murdered. I was the person to tell everyone. Spykes has always been a reasonable place. Its been friendly, polite and professional. Though tonight someone I never met decided it would be a good idea to try to embarrass or humiliate me in front of everyone. I paid a $5 cover, I was carded and did not mind, though I am 42, I just do not get carded. I was ridiculed for what I called my normal shot, "Cuervo 1800 gold". Then I was ridiculed for requesting Rumple Minze, I was asked "do you know what that is". No, I just ask for random things. I was belittled, ignored and treated like a child. She lost a customers credit card at 10:51pm. She was loud more than twice, I get it - I am an ignorant drunk. Except for the fact I am not. I just expected a place of semi comfort or respect. It is what I ALWAYS FOUND here. I did not intend for this to happen to my friend. My experience was disgusting and horrible. No one should go back. I get it, it was busy. This was not ok, I am a customer, not I am reduced to crying about it on yelp. It is frustrating & difficult. read more

The menu is undesirable, if you can get the bartenders attention long enough to order food. It's gone severely downhill in the past year. Not very inviting if you don't know locals. Like at all. Kind of awkward actually. Being a younger couple with my SO and walking in (though it's no ones duty) no one said hi or anything but everyone kept in small circle. Everyone there was prob 35+ and cheered for others they knew as they walked in. All the people that knew each other ran out of seats so we kindly moved to back away from bar. Back there even more alone we try to play darts on dart machine. The machine ate our money and didn't have any darts. On another note it's super casual and has a cool ass cigarette machine! Good for a quick drink but not for hanging out unless you bring your own crowd. I had a bahama mama for a drink and it was SO GOOD. Really cool set up too. Very relaxed. So don't over dress like I did. Saw someone order wings and they looked super good, but also didn't see any menus set out. read more

Every time I come in here I'm treated right. Absolutely love the bartender on Friday nights. That man is always busy but he has a way of making you feel like he's not. this bar is usually our go to on friday's. never had an issue before, but the other night my husband decided to join me and my group of friends. not sure how it got so out of hand quickly, but once we paid our bill and were going to leave we left our nice waitress a 20 on the table and paid with our card and put 0. the older waitress rudely asks my husband 'was something wrong with you service?' and he said, 'no everything was good, thank you we had a good time.' and she tells my husband 'Ok, well we don't want you to come back anymore.' And no one wants to answer any questions. of course they already cleared the table and took the 20. my husband barely comes out as is. we tipped generously and the waitress was extremely rude. each time i've called and asked for a manager the same hateful waitress is short and when i ask when the manager will be in she just says 'no.' LMFAO. nice to see how y'all treat clients of color! won't be back. i'll gladly spend my $80 at a bar that isn't rude as fuck. read more
