Came in to redeem a birthday coupon. It was Saturday morning at 9:30 and I feared that we would have a long wait. We only waited a few minutes and the place was packed. Our sever greeted us in a few minutes and food was quickly served. Everything tasted fresh, hot and delicious. It was extremely packed when we left. They do a good amount of business on weekends. Haven't been to First Watch in a few months. The food and service has always been good every time I've dined here. The coffee is delish! The Avon restaurant is open and airy - not overly crowded. The decor is modern Farmhouse with blue accents. I've never tried the Million Dollar Bacon until now. Omgoodness! The bacon is cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of spice and sweetness. Yum!! My friend had the elevated egg sandwich - she loved it! I opted for the Farmhouse Bowl. The bowl included potatoes, eggs, and of course more bacon. Oh, and toast. We came right before the crowd and were seated right away. One downside is that the tables are pretty close together, so we didn't have much space and could easily hear nearby conversations. I'm a longtime fan of the First Watch chain. I'd been eyeing this particular location while handling some family issues in nearby Putnam County that have had me driving through Hendricks County multiple times weekly. I simply haven't had time to stop. Yesterday morning, I finally made it. This seems like a newer location and is quite beautifully decorated. The ambience is casual and welcoming. It's in a strip center and there are ample accessible parking spots and curb cuts. The glass door entry is a little heavy, however, employees are nearby and fairly quick to assist if needed. The hosting station is right inside the door. First Watch has both indoor and outdoor dining options. They can accommodate smaller parties and larger parties fairly easily. As is always true with First Watch, this is a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot that closes at 2:30pm. They lean toward healthier fare. They have a juice bar, teas, Project Sunrise Coffee, and the menu includes organic, gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. They do not serve alcoholic beverages at this location (some First Watch spots do). I was seated at a comfortable table. I ordered my usual unsweetened iced tea. I ended up with a usual of a single pancake and roasted potatoes. I'm a huge fan of First Watch's potatoes - I quite literally crave them. I wasn't looking great, but I was treated well. It has been a very long month both working and dealing with my father in hospice. I'm exhausted. Food was great. Service was great. Price was fair. Here's where First Watch really earned their 5-star. On Tuesday night, my father died after a modest hospice journey. Yesterday, I was on my way to begin planning the funeral and to start addressing issues at his home. I was tired. I was stressed. I was, for the first day, without immediate family (my mother and only brother preceded him in death). I needed a healthy meal. I needed connection. I was lingering. One iced tea. two iced teas. "Do you mind if I stay a few more minutes?" Third iced tea. I was encouraged to stay. I finally acknowledged to my server, Ashley, that I was on my way to begin clearing out my father's home and plan his funeral. It could have been awkward. It could have been a momentary "I'm sorry" response. Instead, she sat down at the table. Looked me in the eyes and spent 1-2 minutes being human and kind. It was a brief but deeply appreciated act of compassion. I got the spark I needed and went to handle the business. So, bravo First Watch. I have to say I was impressed by this place and that's not an easy thing to do. I was greeted and escorted to my table. The server brought some water right away and took my drink order. BTW the coffee here is fabulous and you get a whole can, which is nice for your no-wait refills and warm-ups. I took a minute to peruse this rather large menu with so many delicious options. It was really hard to choose. In the end I decided on an omelet with a side of cheesy grits. Now mind you the omelet already comes with toast and a salad, which you can swap out for potatoes or fruit. So there is a good amount of food. I'll know next time. The omelet was delish, well made with fresh tomatoes and sour cream on top... yumm. The greens were plentiful and the dressing on it a delicate vinaigrette that I really enjoyed. Even the bread, which I was worried I might not like. It just sounded way too healthy to be any good, but I was proven wrong. It was quite good and the jelly was perfect. And the cheesy grits were pretty good also. A little bland, but that's a grits thing anyway. Altogether I have to say that I will be back for sure. First time in. Food wasn't really great for the experience I had. Potatoes were alright, eggs terrible. Went there this morning, June 23rd, had an elderly lady as my server. A bigger lady with wavy dirty blonde/gray hair. As soon as I got there, menu in hand, haven't read anything yet, she comes up. Impatiently she stares at us for not even a second and then says in a rude tone, "I guess I'll just have to come back." This was not the only rude thing she said or did. Rolled her eyes constantly, threw napkins on the table like we were peasants. Asked for a double serving of sausage, which I was happy to pay for until she said as she served them, "I guess you got a free serving of sausage." Again, in a rude tone. This was weird because that is what I ordered initially. I typically don't review anything, but for what I was served, the waitress I was given, and to top it off, the front desk lady also being rude (young lady, dark hair), I had to say something. We got back from a vacation and needed to get our rental car lightly detailed before dropping it back off, but the detailing didn't open until 8 AM. It was only 7:30, so we decided to stop in at First Watch for some coffee + a hot meal. It was so nice being there that early because there were maybe only 4 other tables eating while we were there, so it was nice and quiet. Our server was very friendly and brought over an entire carafe of coffee so I could keep my cup refilled. The table was already well-stocked with creamers. We both ordered the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with (over easy) eggs and split a large fruit bowl. The biscuits and gravy were hot, savory, and more than we could have hoped for after driving 18 hours back from Florida lol The fruit bowl was refreshing- the kiwi was a nice touch! It also had a lot of pineapple, which is my favorite. This is my second time dining in at Avon's First Watch and my husband's first. We both agreed we'd be coming back together again soon. read more

First Watch is one of my favorite venus. The food is always delicious and appetizing. The Cobb Salad is amazing! Unfortunately, they could use a little more care in the area of sanitation. I have mixed feelings about the AVON first watch. If we order something unique, it is always perfectly prepared and piping hot. But when we order the traditional breakfast of just scrambled eggs and bacon, the last two times the eggs have been cold. The toast is almost always cold. Finally this last time I spoke up and they cheerfully and quickly replaced the cold eggs. I just feel like getting food out hot should be a minimum. But I don't think I'll keep ordering the same regular items because they must be prepared ahead of time. read more

Terrible experience. We've been to First Watch multiple times before (and those times it went well) but this time was beyond bad. Our server, Ashley, took our orders and we waited for over 30 minutes. She then proceeds to tell us that they lost our order and they didn't realize. Keep in mind that the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We waited for even longer for the food to arrive (which is unacceptable considering barely anyone was in the restaurant anymore) and we finally got our food. However, they had put the wrong side on one of our dishes, AND they somehow forgot the Belgian waffle and pancake we ordered. (that's three strikes...) They decided to only take off one item from our bill. They said their computer was having problems, but I also noticed that none of the other few people had any problems. The ambiance and food was good at best. This experience also made us late and have to end up cancelling some things that we were supposed to do. My wife, my daughter and i had first watch for breakfast this morning. My wife had a sandwich with egg, avocado, bacon, and a few other things. She really liked it. She got the million dollar potatoes as well, and she said they were very good. My daughter got a chocolate chip pancake with bacon. She said it was the best pancake she has ever had. I've been on a kick for First Watch lately thanks to their egg white breakfast turkey wrap that is fairly healthy and even better accompanied by the kale juice. I'm not one to frequent chains but First Watch does an exceptional job and I appreciate the healthier options that are available. This particular location had slower service than some of the others. It was a busy Saturday morning but it still seemed like orders were taking awhile and they were having a hard time turning tables. In the end, my wrap filled with egg, cheese, Turkey, tomato and spinach hit the spot yet again. As did the kale tonic juice (real deal- no added funny business). Solid 4 1/2 stars but I rounded up to five! I don't believe this FT has been open for long. It sits on the east edge of a strip mall conveniently located just in front of Costco. I stopped for a late breakfast on a weekday and it was quite busy! I elected to be seated at the small outdoor bar area, which has two open windows into the main dining area. There is another bar top seating area inside, as well. My first impression was that this FT was very nicely designed with a farmhouse theme that seemed appropriate. Although the outdoor patio is small, I appreciated that it is shaded and actually seems quite quaint despite facing the parking lot and Hwy 36. The only drawback to sitting at this outdoor bar area is that it is somewhat breezy. The waitress told me it's designed this way to prevent flies and other insects from entering the building. No real problem for me as it was a warm day, and I appreciated the air movement...however, it's worth mentioning. I ordered coffee and the frittata rustica. The waitress was kind enough to bring me my own insulated carafe to refill my own. My order arrived timely just as the restaurant crowd was beginning to pick up. My server was busy but attentive and friendly. The frittata was light and flavorful, the salad crisp and fresh. I'm not a fast eater, and due to the breeze my food and coffee didn't stay warm for long. Again, very minor inconvenience though and overall I was very pleased with my meal at this location.
