Yesterday, I took my son to this salon for a haircut. Prior to the appointment, I confirmed over the phone that he would qualify for junior pricing, given his age. However, once the haircut began, the owner, Kiran, abruptly stated that adult pricing would apply (guessing due to the length of his hair). If hair length impacts pricing, that should be clearly communicated upfront--not once the client is already in the chair. We brought a reference photo of a Korean men's haircut, and Kiran mentioned that she was familiar with the style. Trusting her confidence, we allowed her to proceed. Unfortunately, the result was nothing like the photo and, more importantly, not at all what we expected. As the cut progressed, I became concerned with how much hair was being taken off, but hoped the top layer of hair that was still remaining would redeem it. That was a huge mistake. The end result was by far the worst haircut my son has ever received. I had planned to get my hair cut as well, but after seeing my son's, I decided I would never want Kiran to touch my hair. For someone who is marketed as a master stylist, the outcome was incredibly disappointing and certainly not worth the $60 we paid (she was charging $65 but I was able to use the 20% first time customer coupon to reduce the price). Frankly, I wouldn't want this haircut on my son even if it were free. Confidence in your craft is one thing, but it should be paired with careful listening, clear communication, and a willingness to double-check before making irreversible decisions. This review is for Mina's eyebrow threading, but also to talk about the fancy new location and the precautions the business owner is taking. I was able to make a last minute online appointment through the new booking system for eyebrow threading so I walked over. I arrived and the business owner told me where to put my coat. Then she sprayed my hands with hand sanitizer and took my temperature. Mina brought me to her room and pulled fresh paper onto the table. I laid back and she got to work cleaning up my horrendous mess of eyebrow hairs. I came in looking like Frida Kahlo and left looking like Kim Kardashian. Okay, not really like Kim Kardashian, but a girl can dream, right? Anyway, I feel fancy and pampered and I felt safe while in the salon. I was looking for a local salon to support and was truly blown away by my experience at Sringar. The salon is gorgeous. I had an awful experience at this salon. I asked for a 3-4 inch cut and the woman cut double. She began blow drying my hair without putting any product in it. I had to ask for heat protectant. As soon I stepped out of that place, my hair became so frizzy. I should've known she didn't take hair care seriously by the looks of HER hair. Bleached and brittle. I'm updating my review, as I went back a second time to get my eyebrows threaded. That back room where they take you for waxing is GROSS. The table where you lie down is dirty and stained and I sort of stood by it waiting for the employee to lay down a clean towel for my head (like she did last time)... but this time she just grabbed a sheet from a paper towel roll. Uh..... I did not want to put my head down. She also went to grab her spool of thread and was like: "Where did that thread go!?!" And then left for a few minutes while i heard her rummaging around in a closet area for more thread. The threading itself was perfectly fine, and the service was alright (I could tell that she was talking a lot to maybe distract me from looking around the room)...but I just don't think I'll be coming back. I came in with hair that desperately needed some freshening up, but with very little ideas-- I left the creative beauty expression up to Kiran and she did a fantastic job! While looking at my hair, she thought it would be nice to update the color with some highlights so I agreed to it. Those came out looking very natural, which I like. She gave me a cute and simple cut, perfect for my new "professional" jobs. She was very pleasant and interesting to talk with while getting my hair done. There was no forced conversation and I got to relax. The Indian music was a nice touch, too. I had Mina as a hair dresser. She was absolutely horrible and rude to me. She splashed me with the water as she was washing my hair. She did it to me twice- the experience is so bad I feel like people will think it is untrue. She gets me wet and is laughing about it. She keeps commenting on how thick and curly my hair is, like it's a bad thing. She was commenting on how long it was going to take her to blow dry. She said on my next visit to get it cut, to which I responded by saying I am instead going to grow my hair. Mina responded that it would take a whole day to do. No offense- I go to Fernanda's in Somerville, they know how to do hair. I am in and out in an hour. Mina has no idea how to do hair and to compensate for not having talent she likes to make you feel bad about yourself. Avoid this place, especially if you have thick, curly hair because Mina will make you feel like you are bothering her. read more

Let me start by saying I do not write yelp reviews but I felt this experience warranted a review. Yesterday, I was apart of a bridal party that went to Sringar Hair Design for our hair and makeup. I have a salon that I typically go to for these appointments, but I went here instead since the bride wanted us all together. In addition to the bride, there were six women and throughout the morning/afternoon our appointments were spread out between a few hours. Once I arrived for my appointment, I had to wait about 20 minutes before the stylist was ready for me. I started with makeup since the other employees were still working on several of the bridesmaid's hair. The young lady that did my makeup did a fairly good job, but the process was not very sanitary. The stylists used the same makeup brushes on all of us, including the wands for both the lipgloss and mascara- GROSS!!! Overall my makeup came out okay but, my eyebrows were done a very dark brown while my hair is auburn. I looked like a clown and later used makeup remover to take off most of it. Next, two women began to do my hair. At this point, I had already been at the salon for an hour and a half. In addition to our bridal party, the salon also had other clients scheduled. This resulted in many times where they were bouncing between the wedding party and other customers. I showed them a picture of a simple hair design (picture below). During the process of curling my hair, one of the ladies was curling my hair so horribly that I later realized there were marks throughout my hair from the clamp of the curling iron. Oh and not to mention, my hair felt fried because each piece of hair she curled she held on the curling iron for what felt like 60 seconds (clamp mark pictured down below). I told them that I did not like the style of the curls, but they insisted that they needed to make those specific curls to make my hair look like the picture. After my hair was done, they gave me a mirror to see the back of my hair... there was a large bun on the back of my head, and barely any hair was left down and curled. When they asked how I liked my hair, I told them that it did not look anything like the simple picture. In the picture, the hair was teased at the crown for volume then some of the front pieces were pinned back. The woman told me that you can't always match the picture exactly- this I understand, but the hair design did not even resemble the picture at all; instead, the stylist decided to do a design that she wanted to do. In all honesty, a 5-year-old could have followed the picture better. At this point, I was over an hour late for the wedding pictures, and I did not like how my hair looked. I asked her to pull down a few pieces of hair in the front, so it at least looked like I had hair. She pulled down a piece and I simply paid (which also cost more then I was quoted since my hair was "long"). In the car ride from the salon to my house (about 5 minutes), 10 bobby pins fell out of my hair while I was driving. I then picked up my dress and headed to the venue where other members of the bridal party were also late and upset with their results. By the time I got to the venue which was only 15 more minutes away, my hair was straight, and almost all of the bobby pins holding in the hideous bun had fallen out. In all the other times I have gotten my hair done at a salon for a prom or wedding, my hair stayed intact and curled for hours- but not this time. I brought a curling iron to the venue, and we all had about 30 minutes before the wedding started for all of us to salvage our hair. All 6 of the bridesmaids were extremely unhappy with either their hair, makeup or both! After speaking with the other bridesmaids, they all had also told their stylists that they were unhappy with their hair, but the stylist said it looked good. We then all had to help each other completely reconstruct our hair before the ceremony since we all were so unhappy. The bride was so upset that everyone was late and that their hair did not come out right that she decided to contact the salon before the ceremony even began. When the bride is that upset, you know the salon did a horrible job. This was an awful experience for every single bridesmaid and a complete waste of money. Moral of the story if you are having a wedding and you would like a stress free afternoon of getting ready- do not go here. If I could give negative stars for this salon, I would. read more

I was on a time crunch to get my brows threaded (I refuse to get them waxed anymore -- premature sagging skin? Not for this vain A-Z-N, thanks), so I braved the rain and crazy parking (I literally had to climb in through the passenger side to get to the driver's side after my threading session) and shlepped over to this hidden gem. Ranjana was my threader, and she was quite sweet about the process. She called threading "teamwork" -- which it totally is -- and made me feel very comfortable while asking what I wanted in terms of brow shape. Then, the little aloe massage at the end? Pssst, that's probably my favorite part of any eyebrow threading I get done. No wonder they've been in business for 10+ years -- they know how to treat their clientele right! Indeed, she was extremely personable and gave me her business card when I was done, and even gave me a new client discount. But I have to dock a star for the same reason as was previously stated by another Yelper: the prices are a bit raised brow-worthy (pun semi-intended), especially for Arlington. Expect to be set back almost $20 (with tip) for a brow threading. Based on all the reviews, I wouldn't mind coming back to see if she's as good with the hair on top of my head, but I will definitely be saving my dollars for that day. read more

I come here every few months to get my eyebrows threaded and my legs waxed. The woman, Ranjana, who does the threading and waxing is great. She's quick, gentle, and pleasant. My eyebrows look great every time (and don't get thinner and thinner as sometimes happens with eyebrow threading or waxing). She's also quick and gentle with the leg waxing, never had any irritation or hairs left. She has also never tried to upsell me on anything which is a huge plus...I hate it when aestheticians do stuff like that (as in, "ohhh in doing your eyebrows I see your skin is dry...buy this amazing lotion...oh did I mention it costs $60?) But none of that from Ranjana, just fast and painless hair removal. They just finished a huge renovation which made the threading/waxing room much more private and pleasant. It's really nice. I have never gotten my hair cut here so I can't comment on that. read more

Just got my eyebrows threaded here tonight and I seriously can't stop looking at them and mentioning about how good they look (my eyebrow lady moved back to India and I haven't had the chance to find anyone like her until tonight so I'm just excited!!) I'm accompanying my husband here on his business trip and we're leaving in three days and it makes me sad that I won't be able to come back :( I had such a great experience and Mina is SUCH a sweetheart. Make sure you ask for her for eyebrow threading. She's gentle and not once did I feel the pain I usually feel when I get my eyebrows threaded. If I lived in Mass this would be my regular eyebrow threading place! My only gripe is that the price is a little steep: $17. In California it's about $12, but honestly with how satisfied I am with my eyebrows--it was worth the price difference :) read more

Today I had a Photoshoot for RedBook magazine and I got my make up done there by Bodhi. Talented girl, patient with me as it was my first time getting make up done and I had probably needed a bit more attention than others. I'm very happy. I've been coming here since July of 2004 for hair cuts, color and threading. I LOVE this place!!! I see Kiran for cut and color, and either Ranjana or Mina for threading. I never feel like they're being pushy with product or suggestions for extra money to be spent. Kiran is a genius with color. I've never had a bad experience with her. In fact, I've sent friends to get their hair color corrected by her. She's amazing. She does great cuts too, as trendy or as classic as you want. Ranjana and Mina to great threading as well. I hated what waxing did to my skin, but I've had no issues with threading. My skin is never inflammed or irritated, and the hair takes awhile to grow back. LOVE the massage after the threading!!! Bonus: scalp massages during shampoos and conditioning!!! Have to love that! Very reasonable prices and experienced staff...what more do you want???? read more

OUCH!!!! I went here a few times for eyebrow threading. Mina was great, very gentle and patient. I didn't love the whole threading thing, but my eyebrows looked great so I kept doing it. However, the last time I went in, I had a different girl. HUGE mistake. She was rough and in a hurry. She also scolded me for "waiting too long" and said if I hadn't waited so long, it wouldn't hurt. Ummmm, no, I'm in pain because you're hurting me, woman. Seriously, y'all, tears of pain were rolling down my cheeks. NEVER AGAIN. Nothing is worth that much pain. I'm back to waxing my eyebrows, thankyouverymuch. Now, let's talk about my hair experience- again, Mina.... oh, Mina, so sweet, yet sooooo slow. Molasses fall faster than she does hair. I wasn't asking for much- just a cut and single process color. 2 hours, tops. Oh, no, not here. I was there, no lying, for 3 hours. She first had to consult with 2 people about what color to use, then she painstakingly put the color on, strand by strand. By this point, I was ready to run out, but I had already invested so much time, I figured I'd see it through.... So, the cut.... you ever tried cutting your hair when you were a kid and you'd cut one side, then the other, then back to the first side until it was even? Yeah.... imagine that, but in slow-mo. My hair was waaaay shorter than I asked for and still uneven. Too bad I won't be going back- they were really nice people, but I just don't have 3 hours to waste. read more

I go every 7 to 8 weeks and have the full service - haircut for my thick curly hair (I love the head massage they give when washing your hair. Comes with some sweet little snapping sound too); hair dye (they convinced me to do this as a grey coverage technique. I actually love it. Get it done every time now. Lots of compliments on it "wow, that's a really expensive highlight, right?". Actually, no. Its just the color fading out, and its pretty reasonable as things like this go); and eyebrow threading, which both Ranjana and the other young woman do beautifully. I always feel like walking around with one eyebrow fashionably raised for the next few days. I feel very put together when I leave.
