Visited Atlanta Oral & Facial Surgery today to have a tooth extracted…read more My experience this time was just as pleasant as my first experience. Ms. Shaquita, was extremely helpful with directions and making sure we parked in the correct place. I was greeted immediately as I entered the office door. My wait time in the lobby before being called back for my procedure was no more than ten minutes. They offer very spacious waiting area, so you're not sitting on top of other patients while you wait. Steve Harvey, Family Feud marathon is on the TV offering a great distraction if you're nervous. Dr. Sruthi was great and explained the procedure as she went along making me feel comfortable. If you need Oral surgery this is the place to go. It was the amazing experience for me the 2nd time around.

I had a really bad experience here and would highly recommend not coming here. Overall it was…read moreunprofessional, and even disrespectful. It felt like they are focused on money and not on providing the best patient experience. I scheduled an appointment for a tooth extraction. I was pushed into having my consultation and procedure on the same day. On the phone prior to the appointment, I was informed I would be paying the full price out of pocket, and that the procedure would cost in the range of $600-800. This was very palatable to me. Once I got to my appointment, I met Dr. Cole for my consultation. He did not discuss the details of the tooth extraction, but only discussed two different options for an implant. I had no prior knowledge of how the extraction or the tooth implant process works, and had no idea we would be doing the implant today. He sent me back to the waiting room while they put together an estimate. When the staff pulled me back, they presented me with an estimate for over $6,000. I was understandably very shocked and didn't know what to do. The staff member did not walk me through the line items, and I had to ask questions to understand it while being in shock and trying not to cry. I felt I had no time to make an adequate decision, and that the doctor/office was pressuring me into an extremely expensive surgery. I think this could have been easily prevented by providing me an estimate of the implant prior to the appointment. Or not pushing me to have a same day consultation and surgery. I decided to go ahead with just the tooth extraction because I had an infection that I did not want to wait any longer to treat. I was taken back to the procedure room and put on laughing gas. The doctor came in and noticed I had been crying and asked why. I explained the pricing was shocking to me and the lack of communication around it had made me very flustered. He offered no reassurance or compassion. He literally said nothing. He numbed my gums and left while that set in. At this point I was alone in the room and I continued to get more panicky and stressed, as I now did not trust the doctor and I also did not know what was going on. The doctor had still not explained any details about what the extraction would be like or what the recovery would be like. I was also stressed that I wasn't getting the effect of the laughing gas becuase my nose was stuffy from crying. One of the staff came in and told me to try to calm down and offered to turn up the laughing gas. When the doctor came back in, he asked if I was numb and I said yes and then he started working on my mouth. He did not explain what he was doing and I was terrified I was going to feel more pain because of the laughing gas not getting to me. The doctor could tell I was uncomfortable, I still had tears in my eyes and was wriggling around in the chair, so he told me I shouldn't feel any pain, just movement and to raise my left hand if I felt any sharp pain. But he still didn't explain what he was doing and it all happened very quick. It felt very crass to come in there and rip my tooth out in 30 seconds without trying to calm me down. It was traumatic. Then he left abruptly without any further information. I got very little verbal after-care instructions from the staff in the room, and I felt left alone to figure out what to do despite being given four different prescriptions (including a narcotic) and two different rinse procedures. I'm also left confused if it's normal that there were no stitches done, if I'm suppose to have any kind of follow up appointment, and also what the next stage of the process looks like for me now. One thing is for sure, I won't be getting the implant done by Dr. Cole. They also charge $10 for wifi in the waiting room which gives you an idea of their priorities.

I am blessed with a plethora of dental problems, unfortunately. I blamed my British genes for many…read moreyears, but recently my dentist took time to explain to me that my teeth formed in a way that made my dental problems inevitable. I know that there is a lot of anxiety and shame around going to see someone in the dental industry. I was referred here for an emergency extraction of a tooth that had broken under a crown. The first place my current dentist referred me to offered to see me on a Thursday, with the assurance of no action, just consultation, despite the fact that I called on a Tuesday in pain and was leaving the country on a Saturday. Needless to say, I requested a second referral. They then referred me to Georgia Oral Surgery, where the kind front desk manager set me an appointment for Tuesday afternoon. Everyone here is the picture of professional: kind, friendly, and able to make you relax as much as you can in an office where you know you're going to leave behind a piece of your body. Rachel walked me through the medications they were prescribing and the process, then Dr. Muse came in. He was gentle, kind, sweet, and above all, was willing to do whatever I was most comfortable with. I was going to lose the tooth either way, unfortunately, but he thought that I could get through my trip out of the country without extracting it beforehand. However, I figured it made the most sense to just get it out and eliminate any possibility of needing emergency dental care in Mexico or Honduras. He moved around his Thursday morning appointments and made that happen for me. Day of, they prescribed me Xanax to help with my nerves and were so friendly and personable that I wasn't even sure when I actually fell asleep. Even after my appointment, they answered my questions through my sniffles (I always cry coming out of anesthesia), sent me home with written instructions, and called me later in the day to make sure I was doing okay. One day after surgery, I'm back at work with no swelling and no pain. I'm taking antibiotics and ibuprofen to head off any possible problems, but I expect to board the plane tomorrow morning and head to the Caribbean with no dental worries in sight. I plan to send them a handwritten thank you note, but wanted to leave them their very first Yelp review first. I could not have been happier with my experience with Georgia Oral Surgery.

Then one day when I was dripping something off, I saw one of the dental hygentist getting ready to leave and politely rolled down my window from car her about Blue Creek (which I never even was there). She had great things to say about her place of employment. Then I went on Yelp and low and behold....great reviews!! After a few months of waiting because they Re very busy, I went for my visit today and it was WONDERFUL! Ashley was my hygienist and she was fabulous. Dr Schaffer the dentist was lovely. I am so happy to have "stumbled" on this place. The office is beautiful and not overly fancy, which I love. Has Netflix, if you so choose to watch. And was just great service! Need one filling, so will go back soon and see how that goes, but I feel very confident about this place. Highly recommend!!

I thought I'd take a minute to review after a great appointment I had yesterday. Long is the hygienist who has cleaned my teeth all these years; he's so kind and wonderful! Yesterday, I pointed out to Dr. Schaeffer something cosmetic I didn't like about my teeth, and he took the extra time to fix it on the spot, and it made such a huge difference to me. I really appreciate these great people!

The receptionist Valencia provided a perfectly dismissive and condescending tone via phone explaining the company's policy. This is my first time requesting this option and learning this facility does not offer it. However, this is not my first mild experience with this same receptionist. During my second visit the doctor placed one additional bracket on the very last molar of each side of my top row. One bracket broke shortly after I arrived home. I called the office. Valencia answered the phone in a frustrated manner and gave me a difficult time as I explained the reason I needed to be scheduled for an emergency visit to trim the excess wire poking my jaw. The first representative of contact displaying a high lack of concern in resolving rather simple problems is concerning to someone who receives treatment here very frequently. Thankfully, additional staff members continue to display professional customer service with patient inquiries. I hope to see an improvement in the care quality from the employees who are in close contact with patients.
