now retired. wish he was still practicing, since the general attitude in the office was old school, and I enjoyed that.

Very efficiently run office with many people involved in the patient experience. I will be having a tooth extraction and implant done next week and I'm much calmer about it than I was before.

I was warned it wouldn't covered by insurance and they were right. My insurance paid a small percentage of the total even though I have some coverage for implants. So be ready to pay cash, up front, for the whole process. They were forthcoming about this so it won't a surprise. I had a number of visits and everyone at the office was super nice and I never waited long. Come surgery day I opted not to be put down. Dr Pumphrey probably wishes he had as I asked a number of questions through the procedure. There was some crunching and pulling and drilling but it wasn't bad. I mean you're having a tooth broke up and yanked out. I asked if I could keep it and he put it in a bag for me. I showed it off that weekend to grossed out friends! I was so OK after the surgery I went straight to Costco to get groceries and returned to work. I never took any of the pain medication I was provided. No issues at all after that. 6 months of stowing my chewing gum in my new storage spot and I had a new tooth put in. My dentist said Dr Pumphrey did an excellent job while bolting on the new one.

I normally don't leave reviews, but I've been dealing with this issue for over two years and still…read morecan't get a resolution. I wish I could leave NO STAR! In 2022, I had a procedure done at Georgia Periodontist in Decatur, and my insurance (Delta Dental) was supposed to cover 100% of the cost except for anesthesia, which I paid upfront, $500 out of pocket. However, the office submitted the insurance claim incorrectly, which caused it to be denied. When I called Delta Dental, they clearly explained that the claim just needed to be resubmitted properly. I've told this office that same thing REPEATEDLY multiple times over the years and they still haven't corrected or resubmitted the claim. Instead, they've sent my account to two different collection agencies for a charge that should've been paid by insurance! I've done everything I can to resolve this directly and professionally, but I'm now being harassed by collectors for something that isn't even my responsibility. I've made it very clear that if this ends up on my credit report or the calls continue, I'll have no choice but to take legal action. All I'm asking is for this office to do the right thing: resubmit the claim to Delta Dental and close out this matter. Communication and accountability should matter, especially in healthcare.

They obviously don't care about patients and don't know good customer service, and Alex, dental assistant has the worst ill manners. I took my parents to this office due to referral from my general dentist. The first consult, parents got oral X-ray. My dad kept saying the bite-wings hurt him. He said that the plastic cover for X-ray device has sharp corner cut his gum, hence, it hurt him. I told Alex a couple of time that my dad said it was painful. She immediately asked me " do you do X-Ray?" . It doesn't matter who I am and if I do X-Ray or not, you are hurting my dad and he is complaining about it. My mom had the same complaint when X-Ray was done because the plastic cover was so sharp. Today, after the oral surgery, she tried to put the gauze that she placed on a dirty table to my dad's gum. I told her that , then she said " let me do my job. You put the gauze on the table" . I caught her using the dirty gauze but she said it was me and upset . The front desk are rude and unas hell. They will put you on hold then hang up. You will call back and go to voicemails. The office manager needs to do better job on hiring good staffs and then know how to train their employees well. I definitely will tell my general dentist not to refer any patients to this place. And I don't want to come back to this place.

Dr. Edelstein makes sure that I don't feel any pain during my root planing and scaling (which, by…read morethe way, is a very bloody three-hour procedure that is performed by the dental hygienist). However there is an extravagantly high price to pay for the surprisingly PAINLESS procedures here. Also, I was very dissatisfied with the high price of the consultations/ exams/ evaluations and the EXTREME BREVITY of the time that the periodontist spent with me. At Dr. Edelstein's, I received the following treatments: $155 initial periodontal evaluation and xray $2090 scaling and root planing on all four quadrants $169 simple cleaning (periodontal maintenance and exam) $155 flap surgery (osseous surgery) consultation I decided not to get the: $6180 flap surgery (osseous surgery) on all four quadrants $1000 bone grafting (@ $500 for each site needing a bone graft) $5000 implants (@ $2500 for each tooth implant) The ridiculously high costs of the flap surgery, bone grafting, and tooth implants were the deal breaker for me. I'm not an attorney yet, and this office does not provide a student discount! I wish the office could have given information to me regarding the cost of my entire proposed treatment plan up front, instead of making me wait until the next $155 examination/consultation to determine the cost of the next immediate step. It's time to find a new periodontist to complete my perio treatment. Everything is way too expensive here. The only reason why this office gets 4 stars is because of its EXCELLENT PERIODONTAL WORK. Also, the office is clean, and its lobby is rather swanky. There are complimentary granola bars and bottles of water in the lobby. And the office will validate your parking, so that you get free parking. You also receive a complimentary toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste with the periodontal maintenance (simple cleaning).

Making an appointment was easy--you can do it online and they are willing to communicate by email so there's no phone tag. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived but not too bad. The receptionist was friendly and chatted up my son. The hygienist was very quick with the cleaning and patiently explained what all the tools are. She let him sit on my lap for the cleaning and went out of her way for him--letting him pick the flavor of toothpaste, raising a lowering the chair like a ride, using some of the tools on his hand, searching through boxes to get him his favorite color toothbrush. He did have a cavity and they were able to fill it right then and there. The dentist was very kind while I was berating myself for not taking better care of my kid's teeth, assuring me that even his own kids had cavities. The cost was reasonable, under $300 for the cleaning, exam, and filling. All in all, it was a very positive experience, and I think the best thing about it is that my child isn't afraid of the dentist.
