This bowling alley deserves a much higher rating. Lovely staff, lanes are always nicely maintained. Definitely our top choice.

The staff and all were really nice and kind but the lanes were horrible they didn't even have any oil. When my son threw his first ball it curved right into the gutters. When I got up I touched the lane and it was dry no oil. read more

Been bowling in league here for 1 1/2 years. Place seems clean but look under the ball returns. Haven't been swept under there all year. Filthy! Then you get pieces of cork stuck to your ball when it comes back. Grease boogers on the ball. Not sure how anyone can say the place is clean. The food is excellent 5 star. But if your a bowler it lacks in many ways. Customer service is snotty at best. We you try to make them aware of an issue they give you attitude. People behind the counter always on their phones. Pisses me off! Find another job if your that bored. There is plenty to do like enty garbage cans, turn on tv's before league starts should have to ask them for that. This place could be a gold mine If only the owners knew what was going on they would not be happy. Sorry if the truth hurts but change has to happen. read more

The quality of the bowling lanes is excellent, and I used to come here all the time. Now - the price for open bowling on the weekends is absurd. I usually don't make reviews, but I couldn't pass up on this. You can't pay by the game, only per hour. They also don't stop your clock at hourly intervals, so be prepared to pay even MORE than what is advertised, even when you stop bowling before your "time" is up. By myself, I managed to bowl a little over 4 games in 59 minutes but ended up paying over 35 dollars. That's like 8 bucks a game! I've been to nice bowling alleys on Saturday and paid 13 dollars for 2 hours. St. Charles Bowl is VERY overpriced. read more

Went to order food and she was over there too and yelled at my husband that they weren't serving food to anyone for "the next 10 minutes!" Fun spot to bowl! Our group of 7 came here on a Friday about 9:30 pm and the place was pretty empty. There were a couple other groups when we got there but for the last hour we spent bowling we had the place to ourselves! The woman who got us checked in and helped with our shoes was very helpful and funny (I believe her and was Sharonda). She put up with my husband's ridiculous jokes and humored our group in general. It cost us $40 to have the bowling lane for 2 hours and that included 7 pairs of shoes. Cosmic bowling had just started when we got there which was a lot of fun. They played an awesome variety of music and had screens on the back wall playing the music videos. The shoes, balls, lanes, and score boards were well kept. We didn't have any issues while we played and in those two hours we almost completed two full games (with 7 players). Pitchers of Stella were $20 and filled 7 glasses. I so appreciated that they gave us frosted mugs! I totally expected just plastic cups for beer since this is a pretty no frills place, so that was a pleasant surprise. I'm sure we'll be back again since this is so close to my sister's house. Pro tip: check in on Yelp for $2 off pizza! read more

St. Charles Bowl is a nice, local bowling alley. They only. Have 24 lanes, so it's a smaller house, but they've recently added some upgrades to the scoring system and the technology to help with the entertainment. The lanes are decently reliable and when their mechanics are working, they can usually fix most problems quickly. The leagues there are pretty well filled up making open bowling not always an option. The cost of open bowling can be a bit high for the lane conditions at times, but if you go during non-peak times, it's really affordable. Sign up for their emails to get discounts or use planit save, from the local paper, for coupons as well. The food is good, make to order. The games at the end of the house stink, but pool seems to be popular. Regardless, without too many options to bowl any longer in the area, STC Bowl is a nice spot with nice management/customer service. read more

My friends and I are not too found of bars and we wanted to do something for New Years Eve so going bowling was the perfect plan! We paid $100 a lane for up to 6 bowlers which included shoes, all the games you could bowl, appetizers, campaign toast at midnight for those 21 and over of course and prizes. We were able to bowl from 10 pm to 1 am. The bowling alley was full of people but didn't seem too crowded because you had to book a lane in advance. My friends and I were able to get 4 and a half games in during the 3 hours we had. One friend made $8 in prize money for getting strikes at the right time when the staff was watching. The appetizers were good. How can you go wrong with make your own nachos, mini corn dogs or mini chicken nuggets?! Around midnight we watched the countdown on the tvs around the bowling alley and toasted each other as we rang in 2013. read more

This is the location where my husband is in a league, and he loves it! The alley has many nice features- bar, pool tables, pinball machines, decent food, etc. The prices are pretty average, and I've found the service to be quite good. I would definitely recommend calling ahead if you want to be there for open bowl as they run various leagues throughout the year, and open bowl times can change a bit. The location is in decent shape, just like most bowling alleys it could probably use some updating, but it is just fine as it is. My husband will certainly continue to enjoy his league times, and I enjoy bowling for fun every once in awhile. read more

We came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was a pretty good size crowd here, but we were able to get a lane fairly quickly. At that time of day, it is cheaper to come here than it is to go to Brunswick and I like supporting a local business. The facility was clean, but I only saw a one-person bathroom near the front of the place. I am wondering when it gets busy if there is a line to use it. They have probably around 20-25 lanes and a good variety of balls to use. There is a bar and snack bar that has a good variety. All I had was a root beer float and It was a-ok with me. read more

St Charles bowl has been outstanding, I've been going almost every week. There's never a day that I'm disappointed in their service. All the employees are so nice! The food is great and comes quickly after you order, and we get lanes pretty fast when there is a wait. They also added these comfortable couches that you can sit in while you're bowling! A friend and I run a yearly bowling for charity fundraiser benefiting the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The bowling alley we've been hosting our event at for the last 4 years closed in December. Thankfully I was recently introduced to Toni at St Charles Bowl and called her as soon as I found out about the other bowling alley closing. Toni and her group were awesome from the first day I called through our bowling event on Sunday March 4th. They were organized, helpful, prepared and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! They even put our event on their Facebook page to help spread the word. Our 5th Annual Bowling for Veterans fundraiser was a huge success, raising over $12,000 for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans! The most i can tell you is that the lanes suck at life... i mean seriously been in a league for 3 years and the lanes on 23 and 24 will make you hate life. Don't get me started about the evening staff behind the bar, they know about lane 23 and 24 so they want to match how much they will make you hate life. We did our son's Michael Jackson themed birthday party here, and we had a great time. Toni the manager was exceptional, from day 1 I contacted her about my party, she was excellent, I had a lot of requests and she granted all of it. From Michael Jackson songs , videos and how I wanted to decorate the party she delivered. Our hosts Emma and another gentleman ( sorry I forgot the name) were great. We did the cosmic party and it was a blast! We were at the lounge area and it was perfect for my big party. It's a cool and fun place with exceptional service. I recently had my son's 7th birthday and was very pleased with the entire experience. The staff was very helpful. Incredibly customer focused. When they felt that they took to long to get the food out (10 hungry boys were waiting!), they reduced the party price (without me complaining or asking- I thought they were fine) and even threw in the french fries that my three year old insisted on having. Decor is somewhat dated but it's a bowling alley and really what could I have expected. So bottom line is this (for a bday party)- Staff: Great. Food: Meh (bowling alleys shouldn't be known for great food anyway, right?). Price: Incredibly reasonable! You really do get alot for the price of the party. My friends and I came here on Saturday afternoon. It was very busy but we got a lane right away. They have an automated scoring system, which was easy to use. The videos and music were fun, but a bit loud. Lot's of families, and some Birthday parties going on that day. Their beer prices are great. We had pizza that was pretty good. I had the chicken wrap, it was surprisingly good, for being bowling alley food. The staff was very helpful and brought our food to the lanes. We had a good time for a few hours and the place was much cleaner than it was on our last visit a couple of years ago. We will definitely go back again. read more

This place has all of the classic charm of a traditional bowling alley while still keeping with the times! I really enjoy the large projection screens on every lane and you can even request songs via social media! The pizza is delicious and the staff is attentive and friendly! There has literally been only two times in my life where I've felt this disrespected. This is not only the worst bowling alley I've been to-- but also the worst public establishment. I am in a league at the Alley, the by far best part is when hungery or thirsty going to the bar with Jack Gibson is there! Always greeted with a smile, best server BY FAR, super attentive and seems to actually care about each person waiting!! I now go there for a quick drink without bowling & bring my friends & ony to see him! I just found out his hours have been cut.... bad idea i won't go unless he is there!!
