After fighting my case for a year and a half alone. Until the ending of my last court appearance with my public defender I realized I had made my case only worse and there was really no way I could make it right for me I was devastated, and I saw my situation for what it was, and it was Grim, and worse I felt tricked. I don't mean to sound so dramatic but after I left the court I went to my car and I cried. Then I called my parents and I told them that I was so naive and foolish to think I was actually doing well, only to find out that I was doing the exact opposite my public defender even told me I was looking at going to jail. Boy, I was in a world of hurt a little over a year ago. After getting arrested and charged with a DUI I just didn't know what to do. Thankfully, Coleen took my call on a Saturday in May. More than anything, I just felt guilty about what had happened; all I wanted to to was take the initial guilty sentence (multiple days in jail) and get it over with. I hired this lawyer this past March because I have a bench warrant for a pending stalking felony issued last April. Since I am not in the USA, I explained my situation to this lawyer on the phone; I was not an American and there was a bench warrant for me, bail amount is $150,000. After she understood my situation, she charged me $5000 and said she would first try to ask to lower my bail amount to 15,000 if possible. Later I found out there was an email the assigned attorney sent me which I didn't read because this assigned attorney had disappeared for 3 months. Then I told this lawyer what the assigned attorney sent me, she asked me to forward her the email, as well as all communications between me and the alleged victim. Then 2 months past, the lawyer told me I'd better put this matter behind me, and not go back to the USA, which the assigned attorney already told me previously. She seemed to have done with this matter. So I recently asked for how much refund I can get back. Because she charges me $5000 and nothing changed. She said she spent more than 15 hours on this matter, and no intent to refund anything, but when I asked her for the time records, she said she didn't have that, but she knew how much time she spent on it. But the funny part is I was her client, I was charged, and I didn't know how much time she spend on this matter. Shouldn't I ask for everything she did clearly stated on a sheet of paper. Shame she said that's for some crazy clients, or one who said the lawyer didn't do anything. Yes, to me, I really don't know what this lawyer has done for me to charge me $5000. Because everything remains the same. There was still a bench warrant for me, and a pending stalking felony. And my $5000 has gone. P.S. I just notice this lawyer doesn't seem to have any experience on stalking.. Maybe I should have done more research before hiring a lawyer, but I think I am totally done with any lawyer.. When I was arrested for my DUI, I was very scared and with the charges I was facing I knew I was in serious trouble. I was pulled over and booked for a DWI/DUI driving home on i5 around the shoreline area. I had been drinking earlier in the day but it had been a few hours since my last drink and I figured I was good to drive. Long story short, I was pulled over for "erratic lane manuevers" and blew above the legal limit. At the time I was confident with my roadside tests and was expecting to blow under- I ended up blowing a .137. After contacting Coleen the next day she did an excellent job listening to my case and providing 100% transparency in her advice. She didn't sugarcoat anything during the process and at first the chance for a reduction seemed bleak. After about 5-6 court dates of just pushing my trial back, we were finally ready to move forward and work with the prosecutor to have my dui lowered to a reckless driving. This particular prosecutor was willing to work with us and try to make a deal, unfortunately he was transferred to a different courthouse and we had to start over with building our case with the replacement prosecutor. Unlike the prior, this new prosecutor was not very willing to work with us to cut a deal and the scenario of having my dui lowered was looking even less likely. Unfettered with the new prosecutor's lack of cooperation, Coleen took matters into her own hand and wrote up a lengthy transcript for a high up supervisor in the courthouse. Coleen reviewed the dash cam footage prior to my stop and found inconsistencies that would be in our favor. The original stop from the officer who arrested me was very quick and suspect to say the least, and his police report was exaggerated compared to what the dash cam footage showed and what actually took place. Coleen included these inconsistencies in her write up, along with a copy of the video, and thankfully they did not fall on deaf ears. The superior of the prosecutor who was unwilling to work with us also agreed on these inconsistencies and offered a reduction of my dui to a reckless driving. Because of Coleen's determination and persistence in fighting for me, I was able to complete a few days of community service, pay a drastically lower fine, and ultimately not have a DUI on my record! I could not be more thankful for her work.
