Came here for kidney stone pain and was told my kidney stone was only 5mm.. well I just saw my previous scans from another hospital done one week prior to this visit and it's actually 9mm. You guys need a new US tech. Also, I got nothing for the pain and was referred to a urologist in Redding, who told the ER my kidney stone can't be causing the pain since it's stationary.. well pain is subjective not objective and can still cause pain if not moving. Tried calling the urologist so they can see me and evaluate and they wouldn't even see me in office saying because I'm pregnant. Even if pregnant you can treat a stone. Now I'm laying in excruciating pain, spotting now, threw up from the pain... AND what's the point of going to see anyone if they constantly dismiss me? This place is incompetent along with urologist Dr. Fowler in Redding. read more

Outstanding service and care. My wife spent almost 2 weeks in St. E's with a lung breathing illness past 2 weeks. Excellent nursing staff. All treated her like precious family. I saw some low ratings of the hospital and the ER, and I can't understand that. I have been treated twice in the ER, broken ankle and a knife cut the length of my palm. Went into the ER for an elbow injury ..I saw two nurses in the ER room, both facing each other on their lap top computers ,I got a script and told to go home ..NO EXAM ... NO investgation.. NO xray... NO nothing ..No questions ,, I signed a ream of paper work and paid $90.00 cash ..the elbow still was painful and swollen the size of a cantelope I was livid and stewed for awhile ..went back to EW 4 days later and asked for the name of an administrator ..apparently this generated whole scale panic in the ER .l the orange and green uniforms filled up that little ER office...the girl working there could not or would not give me a name ...I asked " don't you know who you work for?" while waiting ..a policeman in full tactical gear, thumbs hooked in belt came out and stood three feet behind me ..keep in mind ,all this for asking for a name ...REALLY ? I had nothing but the worst experience at this hospital in labor and delivery. To start The nurses are extremely unhelpful and rude, one of which came back and said "oh I hope you guys didn't mind but I gave him a bath while I was doing his hearing test". Both pediatricians were completely incompetent. The male provider stated my son has a sign of down syndrome due do a different line on his hand mind you we did every genetic test while I was pregnant to which that was never the case. Later on we saw a geneticists and she stated that was completely incorrect and she looked at both of our hands and dad has the same line. My son was also born with a cleft pallet which was not properly diagnosed by the hospital and the male provider also stated "it's just a choking hazard" and they all did not know exactly what it was. They also sent me home breast feeding WITH A CLEFT PALLET. This resulted in my son dropping lots of weight by 2 days old choking on his bottle then having to get flown to UC Davis at 2 days of life and spent the next week in the PICU getting the proper care he should have received when he was born.I also never received a lactation consultant nor proper post partum care. I can honestly say that I had the worst experience with birth and becoming a first time mom due to this hospital, I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. I have also heard by there staff that they mainly have travel nurses and pediatricians in labor and delivery so I'm not sure if they just don't care since they won't be there very long or what. If you have the option to go to a different hospital I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

I believe in praising customer service. I've never given anyone anywhere a bad review. But my heart hurts so I have to share this. My husband was transported to this hospital Friday evening after a quad riding accident. They did X-rays AND a CT Scan and said he was fine. Nothing broken. Gave him a prescription of 9 flexeril to take 3 a day for 3 days and sent him home to Sacramento in pain!!!! On both Saturday and Sunday he was in excruciating pain. It was heartbreaking. Monday morning he asked me to please call 911. He said something is wrong inside me. He was transported to Sutter Hospital. They were great and did another CT Scan which showed.... Right Posterior ribs 9-12 fractured Right lateral ribs 9-12 fractured Left rib fractured Sutter Hospital transferred him to UC Davis Hospital Trauma Unit. He was treated so great and admitted. With 5 broken ribs It was hard for him to take deep breaths. I also believe they didn't want him to get pneumonia. I don't understand and will never understand how St. Elizabeth Hospital sent him home with flexeril when he had 5 broken ribs and a hard time taking deep breathes. When he and his friend asked are you sure nothing is broken because he hurt so bad - they were both assured nothing was broken. It makes me scared and sad for others that this could happen to so I have to share this experience. We trust doctors and hospitals to take the best care of us and this was not the case with St. Elizabeth Hospital. Please be good advocates for yourselves. So I went to St. Elizabeth Hospital Emergency room in Red Bluff California because I fell and my shoulder been hurting they did an x-ray and said that there was no fracture, the doctor said I most likely have a torn tendon and that I would need an MRI and that he didn't have access to an MRI that I would have to go to see an orthopedic surgeon he said if my pain didn't go away in 2 weeks to call the orthopedic surgeon I called the other piece of surgeon after 2 weeks they tell me that they can't get a referral from the ER emergency room so now I have to wait another month to see my doctor and I've been in agony this whole time and I didn't get pain pills that's not what I wanted I needed my arm fixed it feels like it's hanging by a thread I don't get it I know St Elizabeth's Hospital has an MRI machine but yet they didn't offer it to me why why why read more

Old knee injury the hospital is very fast and staff very professional and courteous. the time I went in is about 10:45 or so. a few minutes after signing initial paperwork and I was seen. The doctor took very good care of me order X-rays and prescribed anti-inflammatorlies. i am not really in a lot of pain so no need of any pain meds besides the ibuprofen prescribed. read more

Now I'm just sitting in here waiting for them to check on me or at least get me ready to leave from here I don't get any of that. I can see why the hospital gets such wildly different rates. When my Mom went in with chest pain she got impressive care. I'm a nurse and was with her. When her doctor sent her in for very high blood pressure, she was given a pill and we sat for six hours waiting for a recheck. When she was checked again, it was actually higher. She was given a second pill and sent home. My brother, who is a rather self destructive homeless person arrived with burns was recovering from hip surgery. He fell on the surgical hip. Due to pain from the two problems he was unable to walk or care for himself, which he made clear. He was told that they were not a homeless shelter and to leave. I would give zero stars if possible this place is horrendously abusive towards patients I am immune system compromised from CLL cancer And I have allergies to medication my attending doctor while inpatient due to an infection forced me to take meds that I was allergic to I told him and the nurses I was allergic my husband called and said I was allergic I logged into my chart and showed him from three hospitals that had the allergies listed he forced the medication into my feeding tube which caused an allergic reaction they had to to administer IV Benadryl to counteract this. Horrible customer service. Rude doctors and nurses. Social services staff don't know their job role. They always have some type of excuse for not doing their job. If these staff are so upset then don't work in an ED or a hospital. You would think a rural hospital would want to provide better service to the rural area. Growing up in Corning in the 90's, St E was not the hospital choice. Coming back to this area 25 years later, St E still not the choice. While on a camping trip my 6 year old was stung or bitten by some sort of bug. Got him in the ear lobe. Reaction was instant (less than 10 seconds and his lobe had doubled in size). So we jumped in the car and headed for the nearest ER, which would be St. Elizabeth. (Also driving towards them gave me the ability to have cell phone service the whole way down the mountain in case he needed a ambulance). Upon arrival my son and I were quickly given a covid-19 protocol screening outside. They also made sure we were masked correctly, then they let us right in. Once I entered I was immediately able to start checking him in. As soon as they knew what was going on. I heard my sons name called, before the paperwork was finished. They took us back so the could examine him. Once they had determined his reaction was not life threatening, the doctor told me how they planned to treat him and that they would get his medications ready. So we headed back out to the waiting area to finish getting checked in. While other patients were being taken in for treatment in the order of who was in the worse shape, and needed treatment first (as it should be). I asked the nice person checking us in if they could have my paperwork ready, so I could make a payment before leaving. She politely told me I did not have to pay anything until after my insurance was billed. I explained I wanted to start payments on my bill, because I knew I would owe at least $300.00 for a ER visit. She said she would try to expedite it. Ronnie was called back again just 30 minutes later and given medication. His prescriptions were sent electronically to a local pharmacy. We had to wait a bit after they administered his medication, to make sure he didn't have any adverse side effects. During that time they went over how much and how often I would be continuing the meds after leaving. When it was time to leave the nice woman that had checked us in had my $100.00 payment processed and a receipt ready for me. We were actually in and out under a hour. We were treated with compassion and concern. With how busy they were. I was impressed. The staff was on top of it. P.S. all HIPAA information was given to me. And they did ask me if I had religious beliefs that would prevent certain types of treatment. read more

Dr Mercedes Petite and the nursing staff there were very attentive, caring, communicative and informative. My 7 year old daughter cut her finger crafting at home, so we rushed to the Er. We were seen promptly and explained everything clearly, which was awesome considering our history with this ER has not been ideal. My daughter was very scared and in a lot of pain, and her anxiety was through the roof. So as we started the procedure, I was to the right of her holding her face to keep her from looking because I knew had she looked it wouldn't have been fun... so as they are cleaning the cut and getting ready to numb it, she was screaming obviously not ideal for staff but for a 7 year old made sense. I won't dismiss the fact that her scream was jareing and loud. The Tech to my right started to say very rudely "ok thats enough, that's ridiculous." So the mother in me as calm and firm as possible said,"Are you serious?" The tech (taylor, shift 1/13 around 7pm) then attempted to justify her response, and i stopped her and said,"dont do it. You can leave! Shes a child who is scared!" All of this occuring while my child is being treated with 5 stitches! Im not sure how or why this woman felt her input was necessary, but i will not allow anyone who is put there to treat and comfort a child to dismiss her pain, anxiety, and overall fear. She was NOT combative or even moving.. she was merely screaming. It's sad that 1 person can ruin an entire visit, but it occurred. Im sickened that she thought what she was saying was warranted when the dr doing the procedure was continuing just fine to stitch her up even with the scream. I explained to the dr and the woman who reviewed discharge with me that if she can't handle screaming from a CHILD, then she should not be involved in pediatric procedures. read more

I went in for the flu. I thought. They called in Dr Kay Stevens to do her botched work. St Elizabeth knew I was a diabetic and didn't tell me. I learned from Uc Davis after 3 1/2 years of them fixing things my quality of life has diminished by having hernias every 1/2 inch to gastro prethesis, to Cameron ulcers. Now osteoporosis due to the lack of care from unprofessional people at St Elizabeth hospital. Don't trust them. Go elsewhere for a second opinion read more

If I could leave a negative number review I would. This Hospital killed my husband. His PCP gave him a very strong pain killer and those pills completely screwed him up. He was already underweight but the pills made him loopy and sleepy and he ate even less. When I finally got him to the Hospital, he was diagnosed with Malnutrition and Dehydration. He was seen by a nurse Practioner by the name of Aminata Aw. She had him admitted for Observation. He was withdrawing off the pain meds and had diarrhea and was vomiting and not being able to hold much down. I was there with him and he wasn't eating but a few small bites of the food they brought him. On Saturday, March, 12 he texted me that he was up all night with diarrhea and puking yet they released him. He told them he felt he needed to stay but they made us take him home anyway. 11:30 that night, I woke up to find him dead on the bathroom floor. If they had just admitted him and put him on a feeding tube and kept him on the IV's to get more fluids in him, he might be here today. He WASN'T a drug addict or Junkie but they treated him like one. He was not used to Those damned pain killers and between those painkillers and the hospital's uncaring attitude towards him, not recognizing the signs of Opiate withdrawal and sending a man who was already grossly malnourished and dehydrated who had been puking and had the runs all night home He died. He survived 2 bouts of Lung Cancer to die of negligence. Do NOT go to this Hospital. Go to Enloe. You will stand a better Chance of survival. Trust me. read more

I visited this hospital several times in January, for two of my relatives. The waiting time at the ER was more than 45 minutes, just to see the triage nurse. My significant other was in excruciating abdominal pain, writhing on the chair, and no one was in a hurry to do anything. It took 90 minutes after arrival to administer pain meds. read more

I don't leave reviews, but St. Elizabeth's ER deserves one! We went for a broken wrist and were able to make an appointment to go in which was a fantastic first step, but when they heard how it happened, they escalated the visit to a possible trauma. They told us that a lot of things were about to happen very quickly and explained what to expect. The level of care and attention that was flooded on us was far past impressive. We were in and out within 2 hours which is in my opinion very good for a busy ER. All of the staff were super friendly and professional. I hope you never have to go to an ER but if you do, I can recommend St. Elizabeth's! read more

I was just notified that my brother suddenly died here and am out of State. I am the only remaining family member and they just told me they cannot give me any information over the phone. They cannot tell me if he died, how he died, nothing. Their only advice was maybe I could call around to mortuaries in town....egregious. She was dispassionate in the way she handled it. I remember going here as a kid. Always hated it. Cold, uncaring. Glad I moved away from this place. Now I am on my own I guess in trying to figure out what happened. Horrible people. read more

Held off going to the hospital as long as my body could. Finally went in at 11:30 pm, in the middle of the night when the traffic is minimal. Waited in my car, they came and got me for check in. I completed the initial check in routine, and was told to go back to my car. Someone came out 30 minutes later to take my temperature and give me a COVID test. TWO HOURS go by sitting in my car and we finally go ask what is going on. We were told 1) They are understaffed, 2) There are no rooms available and 3) They can't move forward without my lab results anyways and the lab is backed up. Okay.... So my husband and I just need to go home at this point, because we've both got fevers and being in bed is at least better than sitting in my car for almost 3 hours. Now, my husband had checked himself in immediately after me, and he was able to get a steroid in pill form to help with his symptoms. I was told they could not do that for me without my positive result. Okay. So I call today, and sure enough they have my positive test, HOWEVER they cannot issue me an rx even now without coming BACK IN to see the doctor. You mean the same doctor who looked at me for about 2 minutes in the middle of the night and was promptly never heard from again? Oh okay. No thanks, I don't think I need to spend any more money for a visit to your park and ride. And I swear to god if I get some sort of crazy $2000 bill for a COVID test and an anti nausea pill I'm going to come unglued. Worst. Service. Ever. read more

Extremely disappointed!! Brought my baby in there he was diagnosed with Rsv. His father and I thought there was something else wrong we brought him back 2 separate times after that to get reevaluated. They said he just had Rsv not to worry. We did a follow up with his pediatrician to find out he had to go back to the Emergency room we ended up going to enloe. He had a very bad case of Pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital. I understand that the drs wouldn't be able to prevent that. I just wish they drs actually Evaluated him when we expressed how worried we were about him and something else might be going on. Personally if i could give a zero i would. i was gaslight by the doctor who didn't do the ultrasound correctly, neither did the actual ultrasound technician. i told them i knew i had a cyst on my ovary and they told me i didn't and got mad when i insisted i wanted more testing done. they then send me to a ct scan which i knew wasn't going to be as effective as a mri, but the doctor clearly doesn't care about what he's doing. I then told them i still knew i had a cyst after both test and that i would go to a different doctor who would treat me accurately. All they said was that my pain, vomiting and nausea wasn't a emergency and sent me home with no proper treatment. When i saw a different doctor who ran another ultrasound a week later they told me i had a cyst just like i knew i would. these doctors don't care about patients. read more

Seriously, this is legal?? Hospitals buy outpatient facilities and then they can gouge the charges . My husband had an outpatient test during his lunch break one day and he was charged 6,313 $. We found out the same test done in an office would have been 565$ ..!! We were told these are professional s fees but I doubt the technician that performed the test makes thousands of dollars a day. I'd give it zero stars if that was an option. I spent 3.5 hours in the ER yesterday without bring seen. when I asked the front desk about it they said they were very busy. I watch 30+ people come in after me and leave after being seen by a doctor. I left and drove to enloe in chico, ca to be seen by the ER. I spent less than 30 minutes at the ER in enloe, was seen and out in that time. This place sucks. I came by ambulance 01/14/22 with 2 suppurating boils on my body, sick as a dog. I was triaged and stuck in a side room for 2.5 hours before seeing a doctor or receiving a pain med. Past 3 hours now and no further to treatment or diagnosis of the root cause of my being sick (with a history of staph and MRSA contracted in ANOTHER Dignity Health facility). I'm disgusted. I'll travel to Redding next time I become ill. read more

We were there for a cardiac stress test only. As out-patients, it went very well. We were told to arrive at 6:30 AM @ the ER, which we did. We were one of two parties checking in. It only took 15 minutes and we were sent to radiology, I believe. It opened at 7 so we had a 15 minute wait there in a comfortable waiting area. The testing took about a half hour total and we were out and on the road. Everyone seemed friendly and proficient. The facility was attractive on the outside and clean on the inside. read more

I went to Saint Elizabeth Hospital. I was having a severe gall bladder attack lasting several hours. I have previously experienced attacks and have been diagnosed with gall stones. I had seen my doctor a week previous and was waiting for ultrasound results and a surgical referral. The advice nurse through my insurance advised that I go to the Emergency Room. The nurse came in with a release form for a hospital I have never been to before (Woodland Memorial- Dignity system like St. Elizabeth).I told the nurse the recent ultrasound for my gall bladder was performed at Glenn Medical Center. The nurse never returned with the release and lied to me and told me they had received the ultrasound results. How? How convenient that support persons are not allowed into the hospital (called visitors due to COVID 19). When you are sick, in pain and dealing with bullies, how do you advocate for yourself? I returned home vomited all night and the next day. My doctor told me it was indeed my gall bladder. QUACKS at St. Elizabeth's diagnosed me as needing to have my diaphragm released by a message therapist or physical therapist! This hospital is stealing from insurance companies and patients. The nurse in my doctor's office stated, in the hospital's defense, that the health care system is broken, because of COVID-19. There was not a single COVID patient in this hospital. Elective surgeries have been permitted since last month. It's an excuse to steal money and is unethical. (And, I do have excellent insurance through my public teaching position). I now owe my deductible for no treatment and the Emergency room basically provided less than adequate care and sent me home very sick and in pain! Julie R. As a nurse and a frequent inpatient due to a chronic disease, I know this hospital! In the past 25 years I've seen it go from wonderful to good, now it's making the grade. All the long time staff are dedicated and hard working. You can see they are doing the best they can with what resources they have left. This hospital was recently bought out from Dignity Healthcare. This is where the cookie crumbled. That and all the other changes from Obamacare. Nursing, housekeeping, dietary all had their hours cut. Total patient care by one RN with 6 patients is not uncommon. Neither is one aid to cover the entire hospital. There used to be a great cafeteria that could be accessed all hours of the day. The recess free coffee for anyone who wanted it. Meals were served so that at least 2 times of the day there was fresh, good food. Now the cafeteria opens at 6am to 8 am. Again, for a few hours at lunch and it's closed for everyone the rest of the day. No more free coffee, unless your an I'm patient. Dietary as a whole is the biggest let down as a patient. It's all you to look forward to during your long days. There used to be a standard meal or you could get a " special" menu and choose what you want. Since I'm on a high protein diet, I requested such. Never received it. Even after speaking to the dietician. All in all, this hospital is still the best you'll find. ALL private rooms make it much nicer. The hospital is clean and they strive for cleanliness. Yeah, food isn't so great. May have to wait to have your bell answered but when your ill, this is the place I trust. The Doctors, nurses, and ancillary staff could not be more attentive. It needs some work but with the government calling the shots, won't happen. Take a chance here, you won't be disappointed. read more
