The rooms were clean, equipped with a a stove, dish washer, fridge, freezer, cups, plates, coffee maker, etc.. Each room has a pull out sofa for an extra bed. The breakfast is a bit better than other hotel hot breakfasts. They have western omelets, cheese omelets, A build your own yogurt parfait bar, oatmeal, waffles, turkey and pork sausage, Cajun home fries, cereals, muffins, and more. Please see and like the photos included. This is a dog friendly hotel. Prices start at $35 for small dogs. On Mon-Wed, there is a Happy Hour 5:30-7pm where they serve free appetizers, beer and wine. I didn't arrive in time to share that experience, but it probably is worth attending. I plan on visiting again. Tip: Call the hotel directly and ask for their price. Direpricing can be lower than calling their National reservation phone number. It never hurts to compare.

Check-in went smoothly but the front desk staff didn't really want to be bothered. This location has recently been remodeled and our room was modern, as shown in pictures. The room was incredibly dusty and the kitchen area was not clean at all. Jelly beans on floor and stuff that had previously leaked onto the dishwasher. Bathroom was also dusty with a few spiderwebs. It was nice to have a door separating the living area and sleeping area. That was a plus. The pool was very....greenish? Smelled heavily of chemicals. Breakfast was typical hot hotel breakfast foods, juices and coffees. There was an area in the lobby with board games and a table you could play at. Parking was tight. I probably wouldn't stay here again but it wasn't awful.

This location is located convenient to I-75 and was easy to find. Parking was ample and the lobby area was welcoming, clean and organized. The young lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful as well. Our room was located on the 4th floor and was quiet, clean and comfortable. We had friends who were also staying here and one of the large table and chairs in the lobby area provided a great place for us to catch up with them each evening which was an added plus. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again.

After getting our belongings and heading to our room, we were immediately disappointed by the cleanliness. There was hair and stains on the sheets and pillows, as well as hair inside the shower. We understand that this is an older hotel, but that should never be an excuse for dirty bedding or an unclean bathroom. Someone was sent to clean the room, but by that time, my wife had already spoken with someone at the front desk, and they decided to move us to another room. Unfortunately, the second room wasn't much better. The carpet had not been vacuumed and had crumbs and toenails throughout it. Two young ladies came in and changed the bedding and vacuumed the room without any hesitation, and we truly appreciated their willingness to help. At that point, we only had time to quickly check one of the beds. After being out all day, we returned to the hotel exhausted. Since we had already experienced dirty sheets earlier, we decided to put pillowcases over the pillows before going to bed. As I was putting one of the pillowcases on, I noticed a stain staring back at me through the old, thin pillowcase. When I removed it to inspect further, I was shocked to find a large blood stain on the pillow. That was the final straw for us. We had our children with us, we were exhausted, and having to deal with these issues was a huge inconvenience. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable staying in the room. The young lady at the front desk was helpful throughout the situation, and we appreciated her assistance. However, she mentioned that housekeeping had been off all day, and I don't believe the blame should be placed solely on housekeeping. This is ultimately a management and company issue. There should be proper quality checks in place to ensure rooms are thoroughly cleaned and inspected before guests arrive. Old and dirty sheets, pillows, and mattresses need to be replaced, because this level of cleanliness is simply unacceptable. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to find another nearby hotel and pay to stay somewhere else for the night. It wasn't the best situation, but at that point, we needed somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the great reviews we had read before booking. The staff member at the front desk did her best to help us, but the condition of the rooms and bedding was unacceptable and completely ruined our stay.

My room wasn't spotless, it's old and uncared for, but it wasn't filthy either. It's what is expected for the price. My issue was with the fact that I booked through Travelocity. Hotels get listed on wholesale room sites because they have an agreement, sites can't just offer any hotels. I paid in full, arrived at hotel, and was told they wouldn't honor my fully paid booking because Travelocity is a sketchy third party site and I didn't have a reservation. I had to repay for the room at a higher rate. I had printed proof my room was already paid for, and they didn't make any attempt to verify, just flat said no, they wouldn't honor the price, and they had one room left. So I paid again, called Travelocity, who then called the front desk of the hotel that supposedly didn't know who they were, and refunded my original reservation immediately. Don't come here expecting 3 star hotel, and don't book through third party.

Hosted a two-day leadership retreat at this charming B&B tucked in a quiet spot in the middle of the city. Owners Wallace and Nancy spared no effort in providing a comfortable meeting space and excellent tech support for the presenter. Meals were gourmet-level including, among other items, homemade guacamole, freshly baked cookies and their own scrumptious version of an egg McMuffin. If you have a group of twelve or less, this is the locale for hard work in a relaxing and psychologically refreshing setting. Thanks Wallace and Nancy! St. Francis Cottage is an absolutely delightful and restful place to stay. You can see that so much care and thought has gone into the preparation of every room. Wallace and Nancy Braud are the perfect inn keepers! I recently facilitated a workshop there and the meeting space and catering were perfect. Yummy meals and snacks and the meeting room had all the 'tech' we needed. The guest rooms are spacious and perfectly appointed. A walk through the gardens is serene and renewing. But vouchers were provided for Rembrandts, which is about 150 yards away. We enjoyed sitting outdoors at Rembrandt's under the trellis (trying not to feed the finches that beg). Take a lovely little walk through alleyways, catch a glimpse of bakers doing pastry magic. Admire outdoor sculptures sprinkled throughout. Go towards the Bocce court and find more sculptures there as you admire the river view. Great location. Walk to Hunter Museum. Walk to the Walnut pedestrian bridge and watch the sunset. On our first night, we went to the hotel's speakeasy to unwind after a long travel day. I told the bartender I only wanted water because I was dehydrated and not looking to drink. Later she started telling me about a new drink they were adding to the menu and said, "Let me make you a drink." I agreed, assuming she was offering it as a courtesy since I had already made it clear I wasn't drinking alcohol that night. When we got the bill, she had charged me $11 for a vodka. That set the tone for the rest of the stay: staff doing the very least to help while making it seem like they're providing excellent service. Then the AC in our first room failed and the room phone didn't work either. We were traveling with our older dog who has a heart condition and cannot tolerate heat. At 10pm, the only options offered were to pack up everything and move rooms or use a box fan. This was our 10‑year wedding anniversary trip and we had to be up early the next morning. There was zero urgency from anyone on staff to find a better solution. The next morning, maintenance told us the thermostats were locked and couldn't be fixed onsite without someone offsite helping. So we had to move rooms anyway. Again, no urgency, no help, no concern. We packed everything ourselves and moved rooms alone. The girl at the front desk was completely useless in this process as well and told us that issues with the AC on the 4th floor were well known but they booked us on that floor anyway to pad their occupancy rate, I assume to influence their online rates. Additionally the hotel is wildly understaffed. Every day we were there only one person was working and handling the front desk, room service and acting as host for the speakeasy. This is potentially fine when there are no issues but when things go wrong, one person cannot man an entire hotel. This is not only unfair to the guests, it's unfair to the staff. The staff was also dressed unprofessionally. One front desk associate was wearing blue plaid pants with chains and a concert tee. THAT is how a hotel is representing itself?? No one wore name tags either, presumably for lack of accountability. Then on checkout day, the hotel had a full power outage. The AC went out across the entire building, again dangerous for our dog. My husband went to another floor to get ice and got trapped in the stairwell because the doors locked during the outage. He and the elevator repair man were stuck banging on the door for several minutes with a housekeeper nearby who didn't bother to check. He only got out because the elevator man let my husband use his phone to callme and I had to go let them out. We then had to drag our luggage down three flights of stairs with no assistance. There was no notification to guests on what was going on, no alarms, and not one staff member helping guests bring their luggage down the stairs. At the front desk, instead of apologizing or acknowledging any of this, the staff member just asked for our room number so she could check us out when the power came back. When I asked if the hotel had generators, she shrugged and said, "Yeah I think we do." Maintenance even needed OUR help to access floors and unlock stairwell doors because they didn't have proper access during the outage. Not one person apologized. Not one person tried to make anything better. It was excuse after excuse, no urgency, no concern for safety and no sense of responsibility. This entire stay was a disaster and an embarrassment to the Marriott brand. We will never stay here again and unless you like wasting your money you probably shouldn't either.

Three nights of quiet, a perfectly renovated room, and a real sense of being somewhere intentional rather than just somewhere to sleep. He picked well. I stayed in the Flower Power room and it's exactly what the name promises without tipping into kitsch. The owners clearly cared about the details: the vintage pieces are the real thing, the bathroom is genuinely beautiful, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and everything you actually need is there (Keurig, smart TV with Netflix, fast wifi). Even the mini fridge looks vintage, and I appreciated that it had a separate little freezer. It's a 1959 motel that's been brought back with restraint and taste, which is rare. A few things that made it worth every dollar (and the price is more than reasonable for what you get): Your reservation includes a Cloudland Canyon State Park pass, which is a lovely touch. The park is about 10 minutes away and I spent a slow afternoon doing the overlook walks and having a picnic at one of the rim spots. The outdoor courtyard back at the motel was its own little perk in the evening, with a fire going and a great spot to sit with a drink. Trenton is an easy 90 minutes from Huntsville and only about 25 minutes from Chattanooga, so it works as a true getaway without being a haul. For dinner, Lookout Mountain Pizza Company in Rising Fawn is a short drive up the mountain and well worth it. Quiet, clean, charming, and run by people who clearly love what they've built. I'll be back.

Stayed in the 2-bed Hippie room; fun decor, soft bedding, comfortable mattress, and thoughtful and nice amenities. The renovation is quality, not a slap-dash flip. It made me so happy to see an investment to this small town that I've visited over 60 years. Definitely will recommend to my family.

So, with that in mind, my review is contrasted against that intention. (As Kurt Russell's Wyatt Earp says, "you called down the thunder..."). But it's three stars, so it's not bad, there's definitely room for improvement. I recommend staying here, it is a comfortable good value, just not "nex-level." The good - The rooms are nice, we had a good seating area in the Cumberland Suite and the bathroom was spacious. Everything was clean, we had triple sheeted bedding, with comfortable beds. Being on the third floor, we thought hot water might take a while to reach our shower, but it arrived quickly. The front porch is an excellent place to enjoy reading, visiting, a glass of wine and relaxing. The library is also comfortable and complimentary soft drinks and water are provided in a refrigerator easily accessed near the kitchen. The mansion is truly a grand old dame with high ceilings and detailed ornate woodwork (some mismatching though), a nice large dining area and an even larger annex for their dinner cruises. The coffee is very good. The constructive criticism: With some attention to detail and tweaks, the experience could improve substantially. The check in process was strange. We had been contacted the morning of arrival to determine our arrival time, which was approximately 4PM and we were punctual. The door was locked and no one was in sight, so we called and we were soon let into the side door. The front door area off the big main porch would have set the first impression much higher. The overall area is safe but sketchy, especially later in the evening. We didn't interact with the same staff person at any time during in our stay. I found that to be unusual, since hospitality is personal. The first impression is an office area is in the main foyer, which takes away from the overall first impression of the manor. The staff did wear a uniform, but they were basic monogramed scrubs. The four course gourmet breakfast was far from our expectations or as advertised, but the service was prompt. For example, he first breakfast course both days was vanilla yogurt with one solitary blueberry in the middle. It was a lonely blueberry that begged for some company of granola or other berries or even a drizzle of honey or a sauce. It's not gourmet, it's a scoop of vanilla yogurt and one blueberry. The main courseielbasa medallions were fried almost to a crisp, but they were fancifully arranged in a semi-circle of a smiley face below two egg muffins and two slices of raw squash? We really did want breakfast to shine based on their marketing, but while good, it was ordinary. I could go on, but Yelp limits to 5000 words. I hoped to provide some constructive feedback as I think this is a worthy property and could improve a lot with some attention to detail. One example being the coffee from a local roaster was very good, so serve it as a highlight with real cream instead of artificial creamer. Sounds nit-picky, but a lot of small details would add up if someone had a passion or vision for the manor. FYI, there is no elevator, so third floor guests are hoofing it, which is great if you are in shape, we were fine with it, but be advised. They are very upfront about this during the reservation process. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Inn, its just that sometimes when you are close to something, you sometimes become blind as to how to make improvements. Small details.

The food that Susan & Earl fixed was done to perfection and the historic home was very well kept and orderly. These two are really make you feel like you are at home. We hope to go back and visit there soon.

There are several great hikes close by. We did Signal Point to Edwards Point hike which has a swing bridge, waterfall view, and great valley views. Cottage has refrigerator and microwave so it is easy to bring snacks and breakfast. It's not far to restaurants. Looks like a great location for a wedding.

Everything is very storybook and feels like an entirely different world that is enchanted with wonder and mystery. Everything here is very relaxing and away from everything, but still close to everything. They are well worth checking out for a memorable and magical experience.

Views over the lake are stunning and cozy sofas to daydream on. My host could not have been more gracious and welcoming. I can honestly say they were glad to see me and I them. Granola, fruit, quiche and a special cinnamon- peach bake that was amazing!! We saw deer, bald eagles, and hand fed a groundhog! Wow just wow.... We took the pontoon out and spent quality time! Y'all must check this place out the owners are beyond amazing!!!! Met us every time we arrived with wine and other drinks.... Had all kinds of snacks. We will be back....

I've always judged listings by price, thinking "you get what you pay for." After staying here, I'm happily eating my words! I only booked one night, but I immediately wished I'd stayed a week. Cyndi's directions were spot-on (and hilarious--she even warned me how to avoid accidentally pulling up to the "Grinch's house" next door ). This place is criminally underrated. It's the most charming little farmhouse tucked into peaceful countryside, complete with the sweetest farm animals roaming around. The resident Great Pyrenees (official goat bodyguard and clear boss of the property) stole my heart--he's the spitting image of my brother's dog back in California. Inside, the cabin is surprisingly spacious, cozy, and spotless. The beds are comfy, the shower is fantastic, and everything just feels like a warm hug. I've already added it to my favorites and can't wait to come back for a longer stay. If you're looking for a perfect country escape, book this gem--you'll thank yourself!
