This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had and absolutely not what I expect from a Marriott property. On our first night, we went to the hotel's speakeasy to unwind after a long travel day. I told the bartender I only wanted water because I was dehydrated and not looking to drink. Later she started telling me about a new drink they were adding to the menu and said, "Let me make you a drink." I agreed, assuming she was offering it as a courtesy since I had already made it clear I wasn't drinking alcohol that night. When we got the bill, she had charged me $11 for a vodka. That set the tone for the rest of the stay: staff doing the very least to help while making it seem like they're providing excellent service. Then the AC in our first room failed and the room phone didn't work either. We were traveling with our older dog who has a heart condition and cannot tolerate heat. At 10pm, the only options offered were to pack up everything and move rooms or use a box fan. This was our 10‑year wedding anniversary trip and we had to be up early the next morning. There was zero urgency from anyone on staff to find a better solution. The next morning, maintenance told us the thermostats were locked and couldn't be fixed onsite without someone offsite helping. So we had to move rooms anyway. Again, no urgency, no help, no concern. We packed everything ourselves and moved rooms alone. The girl at the front desk was completely useless in this process as well and told us that issues with the AC on the 4th floor were well known but they booked us on that floor anyway to pad their occupancy rate, I assume to influence their online rates. Additionally the hotel is wildly understaffed. Every day we were there only one person was working and handling the front desk, room service and acting as host for the speakeasy. This is potentially fine when there are no issues but when things go wrong, one person cannot man an entire hotel. This is not only unfair to the guests, it's unfair to the staff. The staff was also dressed unprofessionally. One front desk associate was wearing blue plaid pants with chains and a concert tee. THAT is how a hotel is representing itself?? No one wore name tags either, presumably for lack of accountability. Then on checkout day, the hotel had a full power outage. The AC went out across the entire building, again dangerous for our dog. My husband went to another floor to get ice and got trapped in the stairwell because the doors locked during the outage. He and the elevator repair man were stuck banging on the door for several minutes with a housekeeper nearby who didn't bother to check. He only got out because the elevator man let my husband use his phone to callme and I had to go let them out. We then had to drag our luggage down three flights of stairs with no assistance. There was no notification to guests on what was going on, no alarms, and not one staff member helping guests bring their luggage down the stairs. At the front desk, instead of apologizing or acknowledging any of this, the staff member just asked for our room number so she could check us out when the power came back. When I asked if the hotel had generators, she shrugged and said, "Yeah I think we do." Maintenance even needed OUR help to access floors and unlock stairwell doors because they didn't have proper access during the outage. Not one person apologized. Not one person tried to make anything better. It was excuse after excuse, no urgency, no concern for safety and no sense of responsibility. This entire stay was a disaster and an embarrassment to the Marriott brand. We will never stay here again and unless you like wasting your money you probably shouldn't either. read more

We loved our stay at this cute boutique hotel. It is in a great location to walk to good restaurants and nightlife. The Chattanooga Choo Choo station is right across the street and the buses are free to lots of spots. The staff take a lot of pride in their jobs. The hotel is quiet at night too. We got a coupon for breakfast because we are Bonvoy members. The lattes and food are excellent. read more

I stayed for 1 night at the Kinley hotel while in Chattanooga on business. The room was large and nicely set up. It was a long room in the corner with huge windows that faced the street. Since the hotel is only a few stories high, I had to close all of the blinds for some privacy when changing, which took a minute or two. The couch and TV area was perfect for relaxing after a lovely dinner in their speakeasy in the lobby. My bed was comfortable and I liked the free cookies they offered 24/7. My only complaint was the Peloton in the gym was out of calibration and when I let the front desk know they told me nobody had complained but they'd look into it being serviced. I like to ride and left weights during my work trips and this was the first time I'd seen it that out of calibration. It was a minor hiccup given the otherwise great experience I had at the hotel. I will definitely return this year. read more

This place has felt like walking into a fever dream every time we've gone. I don't really know how to exactly explain this but it's just how it felt. I guess from the interactions with staff that always seem slightly off like theres no way that was actually the experience. The rooms and beds are nice and the valet is great. The breakfast was great! The options are kinda limited and it's nothing special but the food itself is good. Really enjoyed the avocado toast. Got it gluten free. The lady at the coffee area was nice. The bar sucks. Truly the worst cocktails I've ever had. The bartenders act like they would rather be anywhere than serving a non regular. There are no gluten free options at dinner. I won't be staying here again and it's not the standard I expect from a tribute portfolio. I would not recommend it for the experience of staying here. This would be a 5 star review if it wasn't in downtown Chattanooga. I would avoid the area at all costs. The Kinley Hotel has a lot of great qualities, but there are some aspects that are simply out of the hotel's control. One major issue is the smell that sometimes permeates downtown Chattanooga. Unfortunately, it's not something the hotel can fix, and it affects the entire area. That said, the service at the Kinley was excellent. The staff were friendly, and the valet team was particularly attentive. The rooms, while a bit on the small side, were functional and comfortable. One of the highlights of our stay was the speakeasy located in the back of the hotel. We really enjoyed the ambiance and the overall experience there. If I absolutely had to stay in a downtown Chattanooga hotel, the Kinley would be my choice. However, given the broader issues with the area, I would avoid the downtown part of the city if possible. read more

The hotel was so well designed. We loved it as soon as we walked in the door. They have a signature scent that was soooo good that we bought a bottle of the spray Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. They even had a calendar of events to let us know about. The room was a bit small, but so we'll designed it didn't really feel like it. Everything was clean. The mattress was great and so were the pillows. The location of the hotel put us within walking distance of places to eat, drink and shop. It was great. We will definitely it hesitate to stay here again. read more

I went to the speakeasy and the chatter was boring with light music, which was so low one could barely hear. We left because it was so boring. The music is supposed to be turned up, and it doesn't even have to be loud. If they want to be like Atlanta or New York, then they need to step up the atmosphere which was lacking , as we couldn't wait to out of there. The drinks were great. read more

Here's why: AMAZING service (shout out to Sadie, Monique, Arthur, Joey, Michael and Edley) seriously all amazing people Beautiful rooms. Super clean and gorgeous design (floor to ceiling windows) Great location (across from Chattanooga Choo Choo, safe area) THEY HAVE A LOBBY DOG. A friendly extremely well mannered and trained Australian Shepherd hangs in their office and sometimes greets customers. His name is Edley and I think his job is to be an Instagram model for the hotel. I loved him and he just made my already good experience even more amazing. First- this beautiful little gem of a hotel did not disappoint. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and modern and the people and service was exceptional. This review , however, is for the "hotel bar, dining space". We came down for a quick bite before hitting the road in the morning and the menus was a surprise- in the best way possible. My husband had the biscuits and gravy which was top notch and I had the flatbread with herbed cheese, pickled onions, smoked salmon and fried capers. It was absolutely delicious and I would come by this " hotel bar" again and again if I lived local. In a city with many options, this was a delightful surprise. Well done to the chef. read more

Modern and very clean hotel and rooms . Everyone is so friendly and helpful here. Rooms aren't large at all but apparently larger than the Moxys rooms. Definitely recommend but be mindful of the room options . Either a king bed or bunk beds. I may ask what kind of mattress and pillows they use because probably the most comfortable 2 nights of sleep ever. Contemporary new boutique hotel near the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. Walking distance to shopping and local eats. There's a coffee shop downstairs where you can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner - or some cocktails. If you're lucky enough you may find the speakeasy. The staff are so friendly and accommodating the moment you walk in. Valet parking is available. The Kinley is also a dog friendly hotel. We got to bring our small pup along with us for our business trip, but while we were there we also saw a giant Bernese Mountain Dog there for his stay, so pups of all sizes are welcome. The only negative I could complain about would be the bed's firmness and outside traffic noises. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and we would choose this hotel as an option upon our next visit to Chattanooga. read more

A new boutique hotel in what was once a not so great part of town but now is a very hip up and coming hot spot. This property was recently opened SP 2021, the decor was for sure for the younger set in mind and very post Bauhaus and pretty much the entire place was decorated in shades of black, white and gray. The rooms are not especially spacious but just big enough, I missed having an actual desk to put on laptop on but I guess the stand up counter is what the kids are all doing now. The staff was really great and right on it, everyone seems to have an iPad at the ready and pretty much everything can be done on line. I think the valet is very much worth it and of course, the place was neat as a pin. Highly recommended. read more

Hotel is great. New, small, quiet, all the things we were looking for a good night's sleep. Love the blackout shade to really darken the room. Tip - the 'nightlight' on the bathroom light switch toggles between brightness settings and off if you press on it. Everything about our room, valet, and the service in the lobby was great. The only downside, we went to Sunday brunch at the Exchange. To start, the floors, tables, and even the windowsills were dirty with misc food bits everywhere. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered pancakes. When our order arrived, it looked like the pancakes were plated about the same time my burger went on the grill. They were cold, and the strawberry sauce had soaked in and taken on a matte finish that made it look like the plate had been sitting for quite a while before being brought out. Additionally the waiter asked if we wanted drink refills, then never brought them. There were only 2 other tables seated, so we were pretty bummed about the meal overall. For $20/per there are a lot of better choices within walking distance. read more

I am very disappointed in this place. We went for the Valentines dinner they had. This was our first time ever going there. I ordered the amaretto sour the waitress took my order my husband needed another minute to look at the drink menu so she went to get mine. while she was gone my husband said babe your drink is non-alcoholic. I was like well dang. she came back to our table with my drink and I said I didn't realize I was ordering a nonalcoholic beverage, & she proceeded to tell me it does have alcohol in it. I said the menu says nonalcoholic zero proof. (interesting) We order our meal it was sub par to say the least. I ordered another drink the same one it was fine I didn't have any alcohol since I needed to drive home. we finished up got our check and headed home. I kept thinking about how the check seemed to be more than I anticipated. When we got home I looked at my receipt and seen that she charged me $15 for my drink. On the menu it's $9. So she charged me $6 more than what it should have been & I had 2. So $12 dollars more than I should have paid. I called the next day and asked them if someone orders the amaretto sour is it nonalcoholic? They said yes you have to request a liquor to be added. I told them well I didn't request any type of liquor & when I asked the waitress she told me it had liquor in it already. The bar manager stated it is not made that way unless the customer asks. So I told them about the charges and how much more they were then what was on their menu. He proceeded to say well if you asked her if there was alcohol in it and she thought you wanted alcohol she probably would've told them you to add alcohol. And I said no because when I ordered it the first time I didn't even know it didn't have any alcohol in it. I realize that after I ordered the nonalcoholic beverage. When she came back to the table, I said to her oh this is not alcoholic I didn't realize that. So she charged me $15 for a non-alcoholic beverage that's on the menu for nine dollars. I said I know for a fact that the second one also didn't have any alcohol in it because I never requested a certain type of alcohol. She never asked me. And I didn't taste anything no alcohol in either drink. And instead of being like, I'm sorry when you come in the next time we give you one free drink. No, they just said oh what a mistake. We'll talk to her. That's bullshit. I will never go back. That is not the way you should handle things. Make sure you look at your checks when you leave this place or before you leave because they definitely overcharge you. By the way, the waitress name is Chandler. Wow. Just, WOW. I'm a Platinum elite with Marriott and chose this property for my partners birthday. It's a beautiful and small boutique hotel with probably under 50 rooms. The rooms are stunning in an industrial chic styling with plenty of white and natural light. Every person we came in contact with were just so nice and hospitable. I know, I know, service folks are paid to be nice. This was the most refreshing stay I've had in at least a year where EVERYONE was fantastic and they took care of any and all concerns brought up. They have a little coffee bar/cafe in the lobby where they serve their own blend/roast of coffee. It was some seriously delicious coffee. They were extremely smart in making their bar into a speakeasy. Therefore making it more desirable due to the lack of space and reservations only. It's a must for a nightcap. Happy to see The Kinley being a mini brand with a few locations open. I'll definintely be coming back! read more

Is extremely noisy especially the rooms facing the front with the large windows The windows are so thin you can hear everything outside. 7 Fire engine trucks went by in 1 day I counted it . All hours of the day . This hotel should investing in better windows . If you request house keeping no one shows up . Clean for the most part, except the drain in the shower stopped up and continued to do so even through they came and "fixed it." The rooms were a bit noise - walls and floors thin. And the beds (ours were a weird combo of queen sized bunk beds in a tiny space) creeked each time one of us moved during the night. Probably wouldn't stay again.
