This place is so scummy. Another shop in SLC quoted me $350 to replace my rear differential axle seal and I had to bring it to St George to get it done before I leave the country for the summer. So I called St George Auto and said they could do it for about the same price as the first shop. I drop off my car and get a call saying it's now $730! I paid for the $90 diagnostic and left. A third and final mechanic quoted me $370 total. I obviously complained to St George Auto Repair, they said "it's a lot of work to take off the suspension"... yeah not $400 of labor... Plus, it was a manager who was arguing with me and defending the $730 in the shop and on the phone right after I left. I get a call back later saying they made an "error", if I brought my car back the new total price would be about $450- still higher than what I was quoted the day before bringing it in plus the $90 I already paid. This new guy said, "My assistant entered the wrong thing into the computer, it's not actually the output shaft seal we need to do". Yeah right, output shaft seal and the rear axle seal are two different names for the same thing... which is what my car needs! Also, the next mechanic looked at this quote and said the labor was ridiculous and I was indeed getting scammed. Thanks for wasting my $90. I've replaced an alternator in a parking lot with a small tool kit. I've done my own oil, spark plugs, brakes/rotors... I may be blonde, but I'm not a dumb blonde. Edit in response to their reply: it was the dealer who quoted me $370. They're also buying the expensive OEM parts you're talking about. I'm not sure why the third price I was quoted was still much more than theirs and $100 more than I was quoted on the phone in the first place. I've also replaced wheel bearings at home and I wouldn't say it's the end of the world. You don't need to remove the suspension to replace a wheel bearing. read more

Do a quality job but way too expensive. I called around to other places in the area and I found a guy to fix what I needed for half of what they wanted. I brought my car in to find out what was wrong with it. While there, they offered to replace a small part for only eight dollars. I agreed, but saw that the end bill was $126. It turns out that there was a $50 installation fee and a $50 fee just for finding out what was wrong with my car. I would recommend going somewhere else‍ read more

WARNING BEWARE WARNING DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE NAME I Had my mothers truck towed to St. George Auto on Bluff. HUGE MISTAKE They had my mother's vehicle for 6 days. We knew what was wrong with it when it arrived Because we have an honest tow truck driver from LADDS TOWING LLC who told us what was wrong and what to expect even with the CRAZY TIMES $$ we are having in our country we expected a lil price hiking. The actual part cost would be anywhere between 7 to $10 we knew that would be marked up St. George Auto wanted it for 125 plus dollars we expect it around $100 labor fee had no problem with that St. George auto wanted $475. My mother is 75 years old. I called on my lunch break of 30 minutes to check on her she told me of the charges and said that she told them OK!! OHHH HECK NO!! I called inquiring about the charges. He immediately became irate that I even asked I told him WE KNEW what was wrong with the truck when we dropped it off we know it only takes a few minutes to fix it he became even more IRATE!! I told him he was a liar a thief and a shyster and we would be having the truck picked up and towed to another auto mechanic here in town. We chose Doug's Master auto care in Santa Clara. He called with the estimate just as the tow truck driver said. ACTUALLY Doug's master auto is so HONEST he told us the part just needed to be adjusted and tightened only charged us for the labor. That is HONESTY that is COMMUNITY not screwing one another over ESPECIALLY in these tough economic times!! We as Americans should be able to trust our service providers in every industry and ST GEORGE AUTO IS AN UNTRUSTWORTHY BUSINESS!! I was in town for Memorial Day weekend when my 2012 honda had an emissions control warning light come on. With the Honda dealership closed, I went to St. George Auto Repair. They quickly diagnosed the issue and told me that it was under warranty so I should just take it the dealer to be fixed. I went in for AC repair and Eric made sure I was taken care of quick work done in just a few hours with a new condenser and AC work. I had a little concern the next day with the repair because the temperature was fluctuating. I called and they had me come in 1/2 hr before they closed to adjust the Freon level because they wanted to take care of me. We started with just buying new tires from here because we had a coupon for a free alignment and oil change with the purchase of new tires. While they were changing the tires they said there was an issue with the power steering and there would need to be lots of replacements including the hose. It was a big bill but we were happy to have the things fixed. When we gave them the coupon they said it was misprinted and it was a feee alignment inspection but we still needed to pay for the alignment. So that was a bummer. Well the day after we got it out of the shop it was leaking a ton of oil. So then we went and took it back and they said everything was under warranty so it should be good. But apparently since it was all fixed and was running at a normal pressure, the pump broke. So we take it in to get fixed but that wasn't under warranty so we had to pay for that. And then while it's in the shop they tell us we need a new hose even though they had just replaced it. And then they tell us that they didn't charge us for the hose last time just the labor, but luckily we kept the bill and clear as day it says they charged us for both the parts of hose and the labor. So pretty much our truck has been in the shop for far longer than we were planning and the bill keeps on growing. Hopefully the quality of the work gets better. read more

Don't trust them. They make things up to try and up sale you. I took my truck into them for my air conditioning and they said I had 5 other big things wrong with my truck that needed to be fixed. They called me two different times trying to pressure me to spend more money with them. None of it was true. One of the items they said was loss was my tie rods. I had my tie rods replaced two days before I took my truck to them by another company. I told them they had just been replaced and then the manager started telling me that they must have installed them wrong and he still wanted to do the work on my truck. When I went down to pick up my truck I questioned them again about all the extra up charges and the manager blamed it on their tech say he was confused. read more

We moved here a year and a half ago or so. Having an old Lexus with 200,000 miles on it, I needed to find a good auto shop and mechanic I could trust. Not always an easy task. A neighbor recommended St. George auto repair. I took my car in for a tune up. My initial "trust" test is based on a couple things. I asked if they ever worked for the IRS (if the answer is no), then I go to step 2 and check their shop. If the shop is kept clean, and the mechanic takes care of his tools, then I'm good to go. The tune up was done. My old car has run great ever since. Have had a couple other things done (alignment, tire balancing, front end work), all at a fair cost and with good results. I cannot express how awesome these guys were. Our check engine light came on during a road trip from California to Denver. Needless to say, getting stuck in St. George 450 miles from home with broken transmission was stressful. We dropped off the car and (by some miracle) got the last rental car in all of St. George and continued on to Denver. The St. George Auto Repair guys did their assessment, dealt with our extended warranty company, including an onsite inspection of our car, ordered the new transmission right after the holiday and got it replaced in less than 24 hours. We picked it up and made it home back to California with no issues. I have condensed a very long and stressful week into one paragraph. Bottom line is, these guys were helpful, professional, honest and efficient. We found this shop and they were great to us. They took the time to drive the car around and figure out what was going on. It ended up that it was just way too hot and causing vapor-lock. Seems we were like many of the other reviewers, because we had a problem with our car while driving cross-country and had just happened to stop in St. George's to visit nearby Zion. That was over a weekend, so first thing Monday morning and before continuing on to California, I took the car and was there when we opened. The new brakes had been vibrating every time we used them, and something was clearly wrong. They took me right away with the caveat that I might have to wait a bit while they finished already promised work left over from the weekend. Nevertheless, they were able to get to me pretty quickly, found that the rotors had become warped somehow, ?possibly defective, and replaced them in no time. Moreover, they boxed up my new, now old rotors, so that I could take them back to our mechanic back home who had recently put these on (he gave us full credit and returned them to manufacturer). St. George Auto Repair also gives a nationwide warranty that will be honored if anything goes wrong after you're no longer in St. George's UT. Car drove perfectly with excellent braking the rest of the trip to LA, and it continue to work just as fine now two months later. What a lucky find for us on this trip. read more
