    Flames emerge from lotus-shaped pods.

Union Station is a fascinating place to visit. Originally opened in 1894 as the world's largest railroad terminal, it remains one of St. Louis's most impressive historic landmarks. I was captivated by the choreographed fire show, where flames burst from eight lotus-shaped pods on the lake, creating a spectacular display. Inside Union Station is the Ropes Course, a three-story aerial obstacle course. Even if you do not participate, it is entertaining to watch others navigate the challenges high above the ground.

This review is only for the bar area of the Grand Central. We stopped by here on a Wednesday night and it was just magnificent. The open area, high ceiling and lots of seating. What a great place to meet others for drinks or a quick bite to eat or both. It's late November so the Christmas tree was up with all its glory. Amazing and beautiful. We sat around until about 10pm and saw the light show inside. It was beautiful with the running lights. I love every part of this spot and would totally recommend and come back.

It was tricky to find. We wandered around the hotel, amusement park, aquarium, and just not finding the old historic beautiful station. Finally we understood it was the old hotel. The first train pulled into Union Station in 1894, ushering in a new and exciting time. St Louis city known for being the gateway to the West suddenly became a gateway to all of America. Over the next several years, Union Station would become one of the largest and busiest passenger rail terminals in the world. Anchoring the development is the St. Louis Aquarium in the former retail space inside the station. The 120,000-square-foot attraction features tanks housing exotic fish. There was a soda fountain, Landry's seafood restaurant & a taco stand. The amusement park was on the premises with miniature golf & koi pond. We walked over train tracks @ saw a few old trains as well.

Union station is sooooo cute. My hubby and I got up early (to beat the crowd and we did). We had a full day of ropes, mirror maze, aquarium, Ferris wheel, mini golf. We had a great time. It was cute seeing the kids feed the koi fish. The young man at the ticket counter on Saturday the 15th, that morning was a hoot! I enjoyed myself here. I would like to see cleaner restrooms though.

Neat train station that was a huge thing in the days of rail passenger transportation. With the last intercity trains making their stops here in the late 1970s, the trainshed stood vacant and unused for decades until the property was rehabbed and repurposed. Today all the tracks have been removed, most of the train shed retained and repaired, half of the shed area has been enclosed and air conditioned with stores and restaurants and playgrounds for kids (think rope mazes and mirror rooms), and a huge aquarium on one side. The othet half of the shed is used for the parking lot. Outside there is an amusement park and a number of extra restaurants. All to say, there is loads to do at the old Union Train Station. Parking is close and inexpensive, so there is no excuse ... go visit.

A cool place to hang out. We went at night too much of a younger crowd for us, probably should have gone during the day to hang out. It looked really cool lots of activities and cool sights. Totally recommend . Wish we had more time to explore.

Union station is so fun. They have a the wheel, carousel, mini golf, aquarium, an ice cream shop. They may have more I'm not sure. Since it's the Christmas season. It's beautifully decorated. They have Christmas tree you can walk into for hot chocolate. An elfie station. Polar express, Mrs Claus' kitchen, and a Christmas theme bar. They have a light show which is super cute as well.

Staying here for work. Very unique hotel with lots of history. Very nice staff, good gym, and overall a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend if seeing a soccer game or have business nearby.

Such a great concepts for families. I love that there are different things such as the Ferris wheel, the carousel, soda, fountain, the polar express, there are other games inside of the facility, such as zip lining and cookie making, and so much more plus the aquarium. This is the one stop shop for all families that I absolutely love because it's all in one. You do so much with your family without having to leave the area !

When I visit a new town, I like to ask my Uber drivers for recommendations of things to do. I got mixed reviews on Union Station-one driver said it's a must-visit while another one said it was overpriced and something to skip. We opted to check it out to make our own opinion. My report is somewhere in between-I'm glad we went to see it, but it's probably not one I'll need to return to see again. The history is really cool and for that, I am glad we visited. This used to be a bustling train station that connected much of the country. In the late 1970's it sent off it's last train, and later became a family friendly spot for entertainment. You can get in for free to walk around and see the station, but any of the attractions cost money. I can't speak about parking since we rode the metro, but the parking lot did appear full and likely a pain to navigate.

This place was nice and very different but I thought there would be more selection. I went mostly for the Aquarium which was one of the most hands on aquariums I've ever been to but definitely a much smaller aquarium than what I am use to. Union Station was completely dead and a lot of things were closed but I guess that's because it was cold, not exactly sure. I think I got there around 2 or 3pm. You weren't allowed to walk in most of the building, not sure if this is new or not since I've never been there but it seems like they have a lot of spots in the building to fill. I am not sure I would come back, but it was nice place to walk around.

Stayed in a hotel near Union Station and started walking toward the Arch up Market Street. The building is beautiful and caused us to stop and inquire about it from a tile contractor doing work at a closed entrance. This when we met Anna (Sales) who was on her way into work. She was a walking encyclopedia on the sights, sounds, food and history of St. Louis. She went above and beyond in giving us recommendations for things to do while in town. Then we walked into the Grand Hall with arched ceilings, tile and marble adorning walls where she appeared again and gave us a mini tour. This iconic building was once a hub for every East/West train traveler. There is a hotel and grand bar which opens @ 4pm. Sit at the main bar or seating area to take in a daily laser light show. Walk the hallways and staircases, looking at the archways to platforms gone by. The original building is connected to a newer section which leads to a fun filled area that includes a Ferris Wheel, Aquarium, Coy Pond, Bars, Restaurants and Carnival Games. Enjoy!

All of the doors on our floor were adorned with a train line name-and who the agent was.

This is a beautiful hotel! The intricacies and detail are astounding. Friendly and accommodating staff. Room was clean, quiet and perfect for a weekend getaway! There are several dining options on the property. The Grille serves a full buffet with excellent choices. Also within 1000 feet of the hotel is Landry's Seafood House and Leonardo's Trattoria. The huge Ferris wheel is a must do! Highly recommend!!

We wrapped up our informal wander through the fabulous Delmar Loop and drifted up here for a final drink, a skyline check and that signature rotating oversized Moon glowing over the building. By pure luck, it was a full moon over Saint Louis too which felt a little on the nose in the best possible way. The rooftop is solid, a clear arc of the city that makes you slow down to appreciate the view. The space itself is exactly what you want at the end of the night. Open, relaxed and elevated enough to feel like a finale without trying too hard. The music was much louder than I'd prefer and not an artist I'd ever queue up for a mellow nightcap and it did sort of get in the way of the vibe. The kitchen had already closed, which killed the idea of a final nibble with our round of drinks. The bartender did offer the workaround of having DoorDash delivered to the bar but we weren't going to hang around that long. The Old Fashioned he put together was excellent, balanced and smooth. Just what I needed as my Fitbit clocked over 10k steps. As a final stop on a Loop night, the Moonrise works beautifully. You get the view of downtown Saint Louis in the distance, the atmosphere, the giant Moon doing its thing and a comfortable landing spot before calling it a night. I even got to watch my Royals (that's right STL, my ROYALS) win game 6 of the World Series in resounding fashion up on the rooftop here. Good times. A dozen or so years later, feeling nostalgic, and having struck out on some downtown STL hotels, I opted to come back here. Unlike my Royals, this place has still got it. Friendly staff upon check-in, and they let me know they don't have valet which I was honestly relieved about. When I'm traveling solo, I sort of just want access to my car, not to have to wait 15 minutes to go to the trouble of retrieving a phone charger out of my console. There is a little lot in the back that they'll check if you're a guest before allowing you in during busy periods. The room was nice, and the elevators are quick. The shower pressure is WAY better than I remember, at least it was on the third floor. The bed was insanely comfortable, and really, no complaints. The one issue was the little room couch was filthy in my room, with visible stains and grossness.. I just avoided it during my stay. The rest of the room was clean. No hotel gym that I noticed, but not far from Forest Park if you want to jog or walk (beware the insane STL drivers). I also took my takeout dinner to the rooftop which was nice, but not yet open for the season. I still appreciate them letting me up there for some fresh air and views. Lastly, the Delmar Loop has quite a bit! This area offers good coffee shops, a store, tons of quality restaurants, and all within walking distance. Nice place overall, and definitely in my consideration every time I come to STL.

I will say that I was unaware of the fee for parking (I just happened to hear someone at the front desk telling a guest about it). I always check-in through the app, so I often don't come in contact with the front desk staff. Once I overheard that conversation, I called the front desk from my room and the parking fee was confirmed. I had to give them a description of my vehicle and I the state of registration. Makes me wonder if I would have been ticketed or towed if I didn't learn of the parking situation. There should be signs or a note in the app notifying guests about your parking. That is my only complaint. Rooms were fine, the free breakfast was standard for a Hampton Inn. Worth noting: there was no closet in my room. I found this to be very odd. Thanks also to Josh Garrett, who answered our questions about the area; Jay, who took care of the laundry and made sure all the common areas were fresh and tidy; and all the ladies in the breakfast room! They started our morning out on a high note with the sunshine they carried with them. The breakfasts were always tasty and filling every morning, and we really appreciate breakfast on-site that was included in our stay! It was so convenient to have our first meal there before we ventured out into the city each day. Having hot items as well as the usual fruits, pastries, waffles and cereal was very nice. We also appreciated having the coffee and tea bar open 24 hours a day. The rooms are fairly well-insulated. We heard minimal noise in the hallways and none from outside the hotel, despite the proximity of I-64 (just one block away). The location of the Hampton is ideal for those visiting Forest Park and its environs. The Park is just 5 minutes away by car, and the Science Center is just down the street. St Louis Community College is across the street, so the area is generally quiet. There are restaurants and gas stations about a half-mile away, and grocery stores are 10 minutes away by car. Downtown is 10 -15 minutes away, depending on traffic. The few less-than-stellar items we encountered were the mattresses, which were somewhat lumpy; the bed and bath linens, which were somewhat worn; and our room wall thermostat, which seemed incapable of keeping a steady temperature. These would be fairly easy issues to address and bring the hotel's rating to a solid 5 stars for me. Overall, many thanks to the Hampton Inn at Forest Park for a lovely stay in Saint Louis!

Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here.
