This well maintained cemetery established in 1808 is a place of beauty, peace, and serenity. A quiet gathering of past generations at rest with all too many stories of life that would be inspiring to hear. Although today's visit was to remember mom on her last day, which found me alone in this beautiful location, I have always found the staff here to be superb caring people! It shows in the upkeep of the cemetery. A slow walk amongst the headstones and trees can bring a sensual spirit of peace. Amazing how in a well conceived resting place for the dead we can again find life. This two hundred year old cemetery may have its full contingent of resting souls but if you are feeling rushed in life ... you may find rest by walking in its peacefulness.

Was recently there on a frigid January afternoon and I was the only visitor on entire property to enjoy my yearly visit of reflection, prayer and solitude. Unfortunately, 3 disrespectful employees shattered an otherwise brief visit of prayer. I understand that they have jobs to do but I gave them every benefit of the doubt but that respect was not reciprocated. While in the mausoleum to have my moment of peace, 2 men and one middle aged brunette woman made extreme amounts of noise, laughing, loud banter, banging of brooms (who knew putting a broom and dust pan in a closet could make such prolonged and exaggerated noises). The final straw was at least one of them using loud speaker phone to communicate and proceed to sit in a chair and watch tik tok videos on exaggerated volume. That was when I pulled back my acceptance of "let them do their jobs". No excuse for this level of disrespect. This is not an enjoyable 15 minute visit once a year for us so let us cope in at least a space that visitor and employee coexist in respectful silence. You do your job as such and I will pay my respects and be gone in 15 minutes. Your youtube videos can wait until you get back in that truck you kept running outside the door.

You can't split up with Buddy Holly because he is deceased. However he isn't buried in this cemetary. Anyone who is, though, has a beautiful final resting place. Way up in the northern reaches of Cheektowaga, this peaceful idyllic graveyard is enormous, and very haunted. I've been in here at night, a long time ago, with a very good friend, and it's very scary. It's very close to Forest Lawn as my favourite resting place in the area. If I were to be buried in WNY it would be either here or at Forest Lawn... but honestly, probably here because it has personal memories for me, of days when I was 17 and had no idea who I was. In some ways I miss those days and in some ways I don't.

And I always like to check out new things or new-to-me things. This is an enormous cemetery next to another enormous cemetery and it seems to be quite active. The workers were accommodating for anyone to speak up, come early for private viewing and plenty of water and tissues readily available for public use. The viewing room we were in was rather small but perfect for the small family crowd we had. I appreciated having a somewhat private room across the hall for those moments where you need a minute to be alone. The parking lot was small and became a bit of an issue during peak times. Also, because it's on the corner of several main roads, it's easy to pass if you aren't familiar with the area or to get lost in the tops plaza behind it.

This cemetery is across from the Police Station in North Tonawanda. Its a smaller one, and well…read moremaintained. It started as a family plot, for the Sweeney Family. Mr Sweeney owned all the land in the area then, and it was a farm. Some of the older headstones are from 1840 or so, so they have been there a while. The town built up around the cemetery. By the 1860s, plots were being sold for other burials. North Tonawanda (the city) now owns the cemetery and they maintain it well. There is plenty of parking in the area, across the street and street parking both.

There is also a resident albino squirrel that we've been in search of but haven't seen ourselves. Father Baker is buried here so you can see his grave. There is also a beautiful little chapel on the property. You can access this from Ridge Rd on bike/foot/scooter or by South Park via car.

Paid over $6k for a service, even signed a contract and everything. leading up to my moms service…read morewe got no call back or anything. was told they would call us back...no call back. so we tried and tried contacting and still no CALL BACK. the day of my moms service no one was there. we ended up not burying her with her family :( BUT THE CHECK WAS CASHED. Finally we get a call back from "Mike" and he's drunk at a bar yelling at us for being upset. Not professional at all. This added so much more stress on top of our grief. We flew all the way from Florida to burry my mom here. She deserved so much better. Our whole family is disappointed.
