I had tuna sashimi, mushroom veggie burger and truffle popcorn. All of it tasted great but my favorite was the tuna drizzled with soy sauce, sesame seeds, and some hard crusted tempura like crackers. So yummy! The rest of the space is filled with wall and live art with people painted in body art posing and being a part of the art themselves. Very unique and not your normal art event. There is a lot of nudity in the art and per the name of this event, you should leave your kids at home! Everything is tasteful which was great. Since parking there is limited, there is additional parking next door at the Dania Beach Casino. Put on by the Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency the festival melds food, art, and entertainment. Entertainment included live musicians performing on the stage and sand sculpting. There were food tents and trucks set up selling all kinds of seafood but also fair food. The art side of the festival featured artists selling works in drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, acrylic, oil, watercolor, and photography. There were also arts and crafts, artisan food, and plant vendors. Local community groups and businesses also had booths passing out information, swag, and samples. I won a free hat from the casino! Many people brought chairs and set up for the day on the field or under the shade of the trees. On the last night of the festival there was a concert featuring a Queen cover band. Held over the entire weekend there was more than enough to keep you occupied for several hours. This is a great family and dog friendly event.

Which is a shame for such a rich culinary culture. The loop than puts you to small playgrounds and the King Fu theatre and over to a dinosaur ride section that has nothing to do with the Chinese Lantern Festival. For the…read moresecond year in a row, we enjoyed walking around and taking pictures of this delightfully decorated home. Over 170,000 lights framed the house and the decorations all over the yard. Many of them were mobile decorations, my favorite being the Christmas gift conveyor out of the Santa's workshop hut. Just ingenious and delightful. The family is very patient and very good with all people on their property. Some want to touch the moving train, the displays, the lights, and they politely say, please do not touch the displays. A great place to get into the Christmas spirit ! It's tough to find parking since this is a private residential neighborhood, but if you are willing to walk a few blocks, you should be able to find a parking space.

I was actually about to leave anyway for the day and return later in the evening for the "Hot Hits" band and fireworks show from Zambelli which is always amazing. They situated the tent to eat food and sit down towards the back so not in the middle of everything which was much better. I also noticed a fenced off area from the main stage which seemed weird since it was separated from each side so not many were dancing as it was in the years past and the rain in between put a little damper on it too. Something new this year was a cooking demonstration from the Chef and owner of the restaurant Setto Mezza showing how to make fresh mozzarella. There was a $5 admission for that tent which also included a sample too which was delicious The shuttle bus from casino was available as usual, if not you had to park in the neighborhood because closer parking is for vendors and officials . A perfect alternative to the over crowded and priced coconut grove arts festival that has become more corporate and less small town creative over the years. The only negatives (why I'm giving it 4 stars, not 5) about the Weston festival, is that parking was tough, and many of the tables closed down early. Some around 4 after running out of food or products. Still a beautiful outing for a first experience.

The Could-be-Better - if I am paying for a 2-6pm event, I would hope that the booths are equipped to serve until about 6:00pm. Some of the booths that were serving foodstuffs were already down by about 4:00pm, which left me wondering what they had to offer. If it would have been just one booth, it would have been okay, but it was about 4-6 of them, so I feel like I missed out. Also, we were wearing wristbands that identified us as customers and one of the ladies still did not want to serve us the wine sample because it was not in the cup that was given to us in the front, even though we had our wristbands and at least two viable cups. They had picnic tables throughout. There was a BBQ pit; I saw them grilling up ribs. I wouldn't eat there because I saw a couple of chickens pecking at the ribs in the grill when the attendant stepped away. I saw many birthday parties there; a great spot to book a birthday party for the little ones. They also have tractor rides for a fee; they drove us by the cows and we were able to feed and pet them. Pony rides are available for a fee too. They hosts a ton of events; just check their website. We went during Halloween and Christmas. Depending on the season, you can pick fruits and sunflowers. Overall, a fun place to take your little ones.

I love farms and farm to table so I stopped in to check out Family Farm when I was in the area. Family Farms offers an ala carte menu that includes hay rides, pony rides, and bunny encounters. You can purchase animal feed for $5. When in season you can pick strawberries, tomatoes, and flowers. You can book a private party. There were several birthday parties going on during my visit, They also offer Mommy and Me classes, camp, Bonfire Saturday Nights with BBQ and marshmallow toasting, live music, and photography mini sessions. Halloween at the Farm is held every October. In the picnic area chickens and goats were roaming free. Several round swings hung from the trees and were occupied by children swirling around. They had a face painting tent and another one selling accessories. Davie has its roots as an agricultural farming community. It's nice that there is still a place where you can experience that.

The event was advertised as having 100 vendors. I don't think there were quite that many but they had a lot. Admission and parking were free. The tents filled the rodeo arena and outside it as well. People were selling plants, floral arrangements, zombie soup mix, jewelry, lights in alcohol bottles, soap, dream catchers, a tiny fairy garden, woodwork, stained glass, baked goods, clothes, bags, and a myriad of other hand made goods. They also had food and drink vendors and bounce houses and kids corner activities for children . The grounds were perfect for the craft show. There were plenty of clean bathrooms. The weather was gorgeous, the vendors were varied, and with the upcoming holidays it was the perfect time to shop. It is good to support the local arts community. This is a nice hometown event perfect for kids and adults.
