Street parking nearby this college was all taken up so I had to park a bit further which wasn't too bad actually. It still took me about 10 mins to walk in. This time around I took a short cut by walking through the campus than walking around the campus like last time to get to the amphitheater where the graduation took place. By doing so, I got a chance to see a bit more of the campus. It's quite serene and quiet. This college was built on a hill for sure. Lots of uphill. If there's uphill, then there is downhill. It all balances out. I don't know if I'll be returning to this college any time soon since both my younger brother's kids have graduated from high school. Nevertheless, I was able to capture some new photos from my recent visit. Enjoy them! I am very proud of my niece for her accomplishments. I wish her all the very best in her next chapters in life. Go have more fun adventures!

These are recent photographs I took to show the magnificent architecture and brilliant landscaping of the Pasadena institution that, like few others, speaks to the importance and the majesty of the sciences. We don't need to pay for expensive trips to parks anywhere else, if we live in the Los Angeles area. Pasadena itself is the crown of Southern California and CalTech is its diadem. My husband and I used to say, "I know if she can just get in, she will find her place there". This is her first year, and I can't say enough good things about this school. Besides having top notch education in mechanical engineering (her major) and research, the campus does an amazing job of keeping families involved, and also making the students feel at home. My daughter was so excited to go back to campus after winter break. She loves living on campus, and knows her professors. She has already hinted she may want to stay over for research opportunities during summer. And what is a plus is that she is just as excited to tell me about their social events. Lastly, I also love that they invited the families on campus the first week of school. We get caught up with monthly emails and video meetings. What an amazing institute all around.

One of my biggest pieces of advice to current students and new grads: USE CAREER SERVICES! The new grad job search is not easy, and after rejection after rejection, there were definitely times when finding a position started to feel almost impossible. My career advisor was there throughout the entire process. Christina helped me improve my resume, gave me advice during my job search, and when I finally started getting interviews, she sent me interview prep materials and resources to help me prepare. Having someone in my corner made me feel so much more supported during such an uncertain time. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything!! Once you graduate, pass the NCLEX, and the routine of nursing school is gone, navigating new grad life can feel overwhelming. Take advantage of the resources WCU provides because you don't have to figure everything out completely on your own. I'm so grateful for my experience at West Coast, the friendships I made, and the support I received even after graduating. All of those applications and rejections eventually paid off, and I'm so excited for this next chapter as a peds RN! (Exactly where I hoped to be)

It is all fairly warned and the staff all do their best to ensure you are well supported. This review is going out to anyone who is curious about what happens after you pass both Exit Exam and NXLEX and the support given by the career advisor. During the last term I was paired with Alla Kostanyan, right away she reached out to make an effort to meet me and get to know what my goals were post WCU. She also kept it real and helped me see the many routes a new grad nurse can possibly take. Right away she began to make sure my resume looked good and was ready. I received several emails with all sorts of job openings ahead of time so that I may plan to apply accordingly. In my case particularly, before starting west coast I decided to apply at my local hospital as a patient safety aide, just to see if this is a place I would like to work at after graduation. Well, I loved it there and that gave me a shoe in as I navigated a job there during my time in school. I also stayed proactive and during my first term at WCU I signed up to volunteer at Cedars Sinai (another place I wanted to potentially work at). So you see in my case I did myself a favor beforehand. Which worked out greatly since I was able to build good rapport with both locations for the almost 3 years of school. I put in my work to achieve getting hired at my local hospital and I was able to receive a job offer. Overall , Alla made sure that I place my eggs in several baskets and made the application process easy. It's tough out there as a new grad and it can feel discouraging at times but don't give up because unlike me there are so many successful students whom don't think of a job until after graduation and eventually get hired do to the collective effort one's career advisor provides and the work the student puts in.
