I recently had surgery and a multi-day stay at St. Rose Hospital, and despite reading some difficult online reviews beforehand, my personal experience was largely positive. From beginning to end, many members of the staff made me feel genuinely cared for during a very stressful time. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Molina and his PA Caitlyn Reid for helping guide me through surgery and recovery. My anesthesiologist Sarah Torabi was wonderful, and admitting nurse Claudine immediately made me feel at ease. The pre-op team, especially Maricela and Claudine, were so kind, attentive, and reassuring before surgery. In recovery, Katie and Claudine stood out again for their compassion and professionalism. Chris Rosales, my surgical nurse, also provided excellent care and support throughout my stay. The physical therapy team was fantastic as well. I unfortunately didn't get everyone's names, but they were encouraging, patient, and truly helped motivate me during recovery. Overall I felt supported by many hardworking people who clearly care about their patients. Gotta give a shoutout to this hospital!! I first learned about it through Hayward Mayor, it's such a gem in the community, providing high quality care regardless of your status. I came in due to some chest pain....nothing to play with....on a holiday weekend at that. Believe the reviews. Worst medical facility in the bay area. Nurses have horrible bedside manner, unprofessional. They take the Nightingale Pledge in flippin reverse .. they CAUSE all harm here. During registration, their HIPAA standards are nonexistent, telling your business within an earshot of others.. but they will send you a bill like they actually did something for you or a loved one. This place doesn't get enough credit. I come here when I'm in need, which unfortunately in the last few months has been often. My most recent need was for stitches after I sliced my finger open with a paper cutter at work! Yikes! But unlike some other horrific times at other urgent care clinics/emergency rooms, I was greeted with kindness and exceptional service. The kind registrar, Sophie, was non-judgmental, kind and incredibly considerate of my oopsy. Then I headed back and met the kindest nurse and doctor combo! The nurse who helped me clean my wound was super nice and fortunately had a sense of humor! Same with my doctor. I was a goof ball the entire time he was doing my stitches and either he was being nice or I'm actually funny. Special thanks to the RN Jake "JB"and to Dr. Torres. This isn't a place anyone hopes to frequent, but you made it less dreadful by being kind, having a sense of humor and showing me genuine care! Had 2 stents in my heart and 100% satisfied with the surgeon. The nursing staff, very friendly but my forearm now almost completely deeply purple from bleeding under the skin. Their technique needs reviewing. Meds were prescribed for high blood pressure and high cholesterol but they didn't have those blood work numbers because I am a Kaiser patient. They insisted I take the meds even when told I would have Kaiser review them the next day and verify those meds were not needed. Of course the brilinta was needed but I question the dosage for this 86 year old. I knew my LDL cholesterol was good and I have never had high blood pressure .Nothing I said would change their mind. read more

Worst place to go to when you have health concerns during the weekend. Over charge you when they provide you a urine and blood stained bed in the hallway. They will act like they are diagnosing you but will not provide suggestions or medication to help with your issue. They first tried to charge $1500 for the following shown above then they are trying to be "considerate" by charging $1000. read more

Was admitted around 7 in the morning did not receive any care for my pain until hours later while sitting in a room full of doctors. I have a huge cut on my face and nothing was done to help except one nurse had wiped me down and used saline. The security was rude and did not know how to mind the business that pays them, one had read my report and immediately looked up to question me-as if it were their job. The pace at which they cared for patients was inadequate because the nurses sit in their office and joke between patients and their reason for being there. read more

The registration person didn't even take a look at my insurance card and told me that my daughter needs to be seen first before they can verify my insurance. If you have the choice, take your family member or friend to another hospital, such as the Eden Medical Center, Kaiser, San Ramon Regional Medical Center, or others. To echo other reviewers, taking someone here is like bringing them to their death. ESPECIALLY if they do not speak English. The staff are rude, belligerent, and stubborn. Even at the doctor level, where one would think there would be no issues due to lack of education (Looking at you, Sidney Todd Mitchell). My grandfather was admitted for breathing issues and a fever. They initially said there was no issue, then changed their story multiple times to keep him in the hospital longer when it was not necessary at all. The hospital lacks Spanish speaking staff, and my grandfather was NEVER told what they were going to do to him or why. They also forcefully held him down (a 98 year old), used a restraint vest, and called 3 security/police officers (again, for a 98 YEAR OLD MAN). We heard it all on the phone and could hear him screaming in pain, for mercy, and to just be put out of his misery. I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. The doctor, upon us showing up to remove my grandpa, ordered his release and also prescribed 8 medicines for him, many of which were extremely unnecessary based on what we know about his history. He came home covered in large dark bruises (attached images). On the phone when we expressed our concerns about the hospital's treatment of my grandpa, the doctor was patronizing and condescending. We are extremely lucky to have my grandpa back alive from that hell hole. It makes me wonder how many others were unlucky and died here. This hospital is lucky that we (and others) don't have the resources to sue. I look forward to the day they go bankrupt AGAIN like they almost did in 2012. Tl;dr: If your family member is dying or severely ill, it is worth driving a few extra minutes to a different hospital. Or, if it is not life threatening, they would be better off not going to this hospital at all. They will torture, disrespect, and injure you more than you were before you came in. In my opinion, the SPCA has better healthcare than this hospital, and they treat animals. Good riddance! read more

If you take your family to emergency be prepared to wait 3-4 hours. The nurses inside were caring but Drs treated us with zero respect. Literally said five words and shut the door. Our overall experience to Get blood drawn, urine test and mri was an 8 hour process. At this point I could have gone to urgent care in San Leandro. Terrible. The hospital is so ehh...I guess that is the only way I can sum it up ER: long wait times and not so friendly front line staff ER nurses: (the one we got) Really nice, like they actually like their job and want to make you feel at ease while you are here Security: hit or miss, some are really nice and greet you, others are rude and snarky Covid: everyone must wear a mask and sanitize. Visiting hours are 10-2 and 4-8. One visitor at a time. No one under the age of 16 able to visit. Cleanliness: Its nice and clean. Some rooms are nicer than others but the remodeling is making it look great. They do not clean rooms daily or mop regularly so while the rooms have patients you can just imagine how the floors look, we requested the floor to be cleaned several times and it was only swept once. Observations: We told the doctors and nurse that my mother started having weakness in her right arm after she had been in the hospital for a week for leg weakness on the same side and they continued to say that it was normal and that they would monitor (basically just wait and see if it goes away or get worse) rather than actually test what was going on. Had they have done that they could have prevented the stroke that she had 7 days into her stay there. Speed and urgency: Very slow, it took them 10 minutes to bring the doctors and call code for my mother when I alerted them that something was wrong and my mother was not responding (within seconds of noticing a change). When patients buzz the nurse station they say that they are coming and come 10 minutes later after shutting off the buzzer. CNA: When it comes to bathroom needs they drag their feet. People are not wetting themselves on purpose so please help them go to the bathroom or put them on a bed pan before they have no choice but to have an accident on themselves. Nurse: It is a hit and a miss, you get some really nice ones and some that just want to rush through with you to get to the next patient. My mom was hospitalized back in May and June but I still remember Brianna, she was amazing! The sweetest nurse ever. Doctors: I do have to commend the doctors who called me bi-daily to update me on my mother and what was going on, they allowed me to ask them questions Food: A huge miss for vegitatians, makes the saying that hospital food is bad stand its ground. Same thing daily Therapist: Really nice and they want to work with you. Although they could talk you through the process of what's going on and what you can do while they are not there with you. Avoid like the plague. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They will drag your appointments out until you bleed to death. Save yourself. Get you a job that has insurance, even if it's a part time job. If Medical refers you here, ask to be referred else where. -it is always a different doctor that you are dealing with, so there is zero continuity in your health care -they do not read your previous notes and medical records, so each time you go, the doctor has zero clue on where you are in the process -they will reschedule you multiple times for the same appointment and fail to address what you are actually scheduled for and make you come back 3-5 times before they actually will address the issue, and that's if you're lucky -you may arrive at your appointment just to find out the doctor canceled last minute (which has happened 2x) read more

My sister and I brought my mom to St. Rose this past weekend. We took her to the ER because she could barely move and was having trouble breathing. When we got there the security guard told us that only one family member was allowed to join my mom in the waiting room. It seemed odd that they were only allowing one of us to go with my mom because the waiting room was sort of empty, except for maybe 3-4 other people already inside. After maybe 2 hours, I guess the security guard grew a heart and felt some compassion and said that I can join my mom and sister in the waiting room. After about 3 hours of waiting we approached the nurse at the front to ask how long it would be until my mom would be able to get a bed and be treated. The nurse was rude AF, he told my sister that "she'll get a bed when she gets a bed." The nurse was a middle-aged bald white man (only sharing this as a descriptor because I never got his name). If anyone knows his name please put him on blast here. In general, I'm a pretty patient and understanding person. This is a high-stress environment so I figured maybe he was having a bad day and was giving everyone an attitude. NOT THE CASE! We saw 3-4 other get treated after us and he was super polite to them. After about 4 hours a bed opened up and they were finally going to treat my mom. Now my mom doesn't speak English so we asked if we could go with her to translate. That same nurse who was rude earlier was still rude. He just said, "no, she goes by herself." Because she was finally getting treated, I didn't want to cause a scene and my mom had her cell phone with her so we could communicate with each other. After about an hour, my mom called us and said that she needed to use the restroom but no nurse had come by to check up on her. And she doesn't speak English so we worried that she might go by herself, fall and injure herself. My sister and I go to the window at the ER waiting room and try to get the nurse's attention but they were completely ignoring us. The ER waiting room was empty at this point, it was just us and the grandmother of another family whose grandson had come in due to some breathing issues. There really was no reason to ignore us. So I'm finally able to get the nurse's attention, the same white male nurse who has been rude all night and told him my mom needs to use the restroom. All he said was "okay." After that, he just sat in his chair for about 10 minutes chit-chatting with the nurse next to him. That was the breaking point. I'm so upset now. I approach the window and pull out my phone and pretend to take pictures of that nurse to agitate him and try to get someone to help my mom so she could use the restroom. Immediately he comes into the waiting room and threatens to call security. At this point, I start going off and telling him to do his job and that my mom needs help and that he's not doing anything but just sitting there. He tells us that he already did something but he's lying because my mom is still calling my sister to use the restroom. My sister tells them that she's going to file a complaint (which she is doing today). And shortly after that the security guard comes in and kicks me out. After causing a scene they finally allow my sister to go in to be with my mom to advocate for her and translate. We find out that after getting a bed no one had come to check up on my mom for over an hour! No nurse, no doctor- just my sister and I calling her on the phone to make sure she's okay. Initially I thought that our experience was possibly the result of a bad night for everyone all around. But after reading all these reviews it's more than that, there's a pattern and practice of mistreatment at this place. We need to hold these people accountable because this is just unacceptable. read more

Our father was in a nearby rehabilitation center and rushed to St Rose. Believe the reviews. If you have a choice, I would look elsewhere. The first call I received about my father was from a doctor urging me to consider a DNR. They had no history on him and were immediately ready to throw in the towel. They disregarded his test results and brought up the DNR several times. It took them several days to get his medical history from his previous hospital. I received an apology however I still waited another 2.5 hours. When I asked questions the nurse smirked in humor as she proceeded to walk away from me. And no I wasn't finish. I had other questions. This is the best emergency room I've been to in my life. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews . The registration clerk, nurses and doctors are so compassionate. I've never gone to a hospital where I felt so well taken care of. I came here this morning and the lobby was absolutely empty. Everyone was so nice and treated me so well. There was a zero minute wait time. Walked in, saw the trusty nurse and proceeded to registering then went straight to the back. Super quick and efficient. had a severe ear infection and was there from 12 - 4 in the er. took an hour to check me in and then i spent 3 hours just sitting there while everyone else got helped. finally got helped for them to see me for less than a minute, waited 10 minutes to sign paperwork, then another few minutes to get sent back to finally be discharged. i know that there were more important patients but 4 hours is insane. read more

Came to the ER because I have major earwax in my left ear and the at home remedies have not worked for 3 days. The nurse tried to flush my ear with little progress and the doctor Kyle came back to look and said it's too close to my eardrum for him to feel comfortable. He then said you may have to follow up with EMT's because they have the nice equipment and we don't have the tools. I am a female minor who has been suffering from the worst stomach pain of my life for the past almost week now. Do not go here. The staff do not care or prioritize patients, they'll let you suffer. I was scared for my life while in the waiting room, screaming, thrashing, vomiting begging God or anyone to help me and all I got was stares and neglect. Once I was finally taken back to a bed, they look me dead in my face and tell me the only reason I feel this way is high anxiety. Yes I have diagnosed anxiety but this is not normal. And my parents also got sick before and my father was hallucinating and delirious from the illness. They didn't take a single word seriously and just stuck an I.V. in my arm and prescribed me shitty nausea pills that I couldn't even keep down. I had to return to a separate E.R., Eden which I recommend a thousand times more. Having to extend my recovery time and treatment for this excruciating illness Is genuinely disgraceful and wrong. Something needs to be done about this emergency department because I'm reading reviews of people nearly dying because of patient neglect. Very unprofessional and life threatening. read more

Thursday night may 09 ,2024 , the worst service ever , my son had a nose bleeding , we went to the emergency department st 10:00 pm , we were very sorry about my don ,, i completed the patient registration and we waited for around half hour just to have been called from the front disk .anyway we intered 10:00 pm and after a lot of waiting for no reason finally the doctor called my don name to check him , we were very happy , we ll leave soon . then she said we are done just I ll print out the paper work for them you can leave , and she said we should go out to wait her out side . we did .. we kept waiting for one hour and 10 minutes waiting her to give us the paper work , then we can go home . she didn't show up , I asked some of nurses there why we should wait more than one hour just waiting to hand us the case paper work ? we got answers more worse , l looked around to find some one to help us , but no way most of them were helpless . i m wondering , is that normal to wait more than an hour just to print out the paper work? we spent more than 3 hours and half just to checking a child has a nose bleeding .. when they heard us asking for our osier work to leave some one if the team work United to them snd I think he told them to hand us the paper work then we can leave . my experience with this department is very bad , and the staff there not responsible and very weak and very slow they are wasting the time of patients , many people were with us in the waiting area had the same feeling and they received the worse quality of service , we love this hospital but the staff over there need to fix there attitude and there performance , manager of the department should do something to did this bad service .. worst experience ever , read more

One of the things I learned a few years ago is that you never really know how much you love someone until something happens to them. A few years ago, I remember getting a text from my brother at 3am that my Dad was in the ER at Kaiser and was going to the cardiac cath lab at St Rose. At that time, I lived in Socal so I picked up my sister and together we drove up to this hospital. For the seven hours of driving, I was cold, full of fear, on autopilot, and I couldn't stop shaking. As we entered ICU, we were greeted by such compassionate staff. My Dad's RN was comforting and reassured us all that he was going to be ok. The Cardiologist said he was fortunate because if he had waited longer to be seen he would have died. I appreciated their kindness and tolerance. Even when my Dad tried to convince the doctor that he needed to get discharged since he had to get sworn for his citizenship, the doctor told him kindly but firmly that he needed to stay. After a few days, my Dad got discharged but all of our lives changed that day. Towards the end of the year, my uncle was having chest pains. He got transferred to St. Rose where the team from cath lab was waiting for him. The staff kept us in the loop and the Doctor I spoke with was very thorough in discussing my Uncle's plan of care and how he would have to be transferred to another facility. I can only speak from my experience with the staff that they have been professional, compassionate, and informative. I appreciated how they updated family members with the plan of care especially during trying and stressful times. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED AT A HOSPITAL. I was scheduled here for a physical/ drug test at 2:00 PM for a new job I landed. I arrived on time and was asked to sign into a clip board, so I did just that. It took 35 mins for me to have my name called just to "officially sign me in", by this time it's now 2:35, and I'm just getting my information down even though I've been here for 35 mins!!! Another 10 mins go by and I decide to go up to the counter and ask what's going on, as it now 2:45, and I have yet to be seen. The medical assistant (Latina woman) gives me the weirdest look in the world and tells me it doesn't matter what time my appointment is at, and if I don't like it I can simply reschedule the appt. She was rude, hostile, and completely disregarded my original appointment time. If you guys aren't going to adhere to your original appt times, why even bother giving them out?!! As a medical provider, you should never give a customer the death stare and then proceed to tell them they can reschedule the appointment if they're upset about the fact that they're not being seen at their original appt time... The sad part was that it wasn't even a busy day, and there were multiple medical assistants on sight who could've provided me with the necessary attention so that I could could get seen on time. I didn't get seen until 4:00! All in all, my original 2:00 o'clock appointment ended up taking an extra two hours. I didn't walk out of that place until 4:10 PM! I will NEVER come back here and be sure to tell all of my friends and relatives to never come here. Terribly ran business! The workers here aren't nice, punctual, or helpful!
