Do not use the Physicians Medical Center. Lots of misinformation and they can't get their scheduling straight

Christi's St. Vincents Infusion Center is wonderful. The nurses are so efficient and kind. I highly recommend it.

When I got to Urgent Care it was 10 minutes before closing and upon my arrival they were waiting for me outside to help me in the building. Other urgent care locations are outperforming Railyard, so I'd highly recommend going elsewhere.

I lived with a torn meniscus for over 20 years. When Dr. Bulthuis recommended meniscus trimming surgery, he said it was "my choice" and that I was a "good candidate" based on my MRI appearing younger than my actual age (mid-50s). These comments should have raised red flags. The problems that arose include: Minimal pre- and post-operative care instructions; When I experienced pain after accidentally bending down on my knee 3 weeks post-op, he blamed me and offered to operate again, without ordering a new MRI; He never discussed how my gait issues (pronation) would affect long-term outcomes; He didn't mention the higher surgical risks for women over 50; He never addressed how this surgery is often over-prescribed; He said my recovery would be 1 week to 1 year, while in reality it's been 15+ months with continuous physical therapy. Because of the surgery I can no longer ski, the main reason I agreed to surgery. I'm now learning to live with numerous permanent limitations I didn't have before. I don't know if the issues with Bulthuis were motivated by financial incentives, poor judgment on his part, or lack of communication, but I do know I wasn't treated with appropriate care or given complete information to make an informed decision. Please get a second opinion before any elective orthopedic surgery with Bulthuis.

As tribes used their funding allotments closer to their reservations, SFIHS began shutting down portions of service. Now even registered American Indigenous peoples must have supplemental insurance to receive care. Mostly RNs and Physician's Assistants, the care is substandard. I was not encouraged to come back, to go back to my service unit on the reservation. Well, what happens when I don't lived there because there are no suitable jobs for my field of study. It's only ok for urgent care and there is no longer a good ER. There is no cardiologist to consult. Emergencies, like cardiac arrests and broken bones are sent to CSV ER. And that was a roll of the dice. If I need urgent care or ER, I'll try Presbyterian.

OK. there's a few things that you need to know if you come here... First off, ever since the…read moreFederal Government pulled the plug on the finances when it comes to the indigenous population of the USA, services have been cut, and you're kind of lucky to get any sort of treatment aside from aspirin for for being sick or anything. There's a semi-functional emergency room, but semi-functional is about it. HOWEVER, if you wait long enough and play the game right, you will get a referral to a functioning, or semi-functioning healthcare facility.... And if you, like me, are Native American, this will defray thousands upon thousands of costs down the road... Now to the review... Since this is pretty much a government operation in Santa Fe, expect all the locals who work here to be really nice because they are all about community... Many of these employees have worked here for decades, and know everyone who shows up on their steps like family. You will drive up to what is essentially razed earth, devoid of trees, or buildings to an asphalt parking lot that is devoid of humanity except for other people shuffling in in a desperate attempt to get health care... SOMETIME in the past year, the last waiting areas have been blocked off and are now unuseable due to some nebulous promise of some sort of upgrade in patient services. It hasn't happened... It looks terrible, totally run down... And it looks filthy. Instead of the neat designated arrows, there is now pink flyers telling all the sick people to wander around the building so that they can check in at what equates to a nebulous check in area. Pink paper flyers? Really? When you finally find the outpatient check in area (formerly the maternity ward), you check in and are then directed to the "new" waiting area... Welcome to the NEW waiting area, next to the old waiting area, except there isn't any lighting and you're forced to watch game shows on the two TV monitors... If you're lucky, as I was, you'll run into old friends from decades past or use the light from the single window to read or do homework... Eventually the staff (who were totally wonderful and understanding to me) will call your number, register you, and then you can expect to wait one to three hours to see a doctor. (I was totally annoyed and went down the street to get some food). When I got back, roughly 45 minutes later, my number was called... Yes, I know how things work... My doctor was great, and after all the waiting, I got everything I needed done for my medical issue... So i'm not complaining, although I am dinging this medical facility a star for not having WiFi... I expected a 3 hour wait, and that was pretty much true. I blame the federal government for not providing proper funding to some of this countrie's more impoverished peoples... OBAMA, WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?! NO MORE EMPTY PROMISES PLEASE!

The nurse on shift seemed like he was in training but he was very kind and accommodating as were the front desk staff. The experience would have likely been positive given the circumstances but Dr. Eric Ketchman's technique and bedside manner are borderline appalling. As a microbial scientist I understand the importance of aseptic technique but Dr. Ketchman clearly didn't. I watched uncomfortably as he used tools ungloved and touched the wounded area also ungloved. I do want to say that sometimes he had gloves on but that doesn't do much good when you had your bare hands touching stuff earlier. To top it off he had his mask below his nose and was inches away from the patient. At this point in the pandemic I can say with confidence that if you're a doctor who refuses to properly wear a mask and believe in medical science, then you need to find an alternative career. Putting aside his lack of sanitary technique, he was also bad at talking the patient through every step of treatment which in this case was especially important as the patient had never been to a hospital before and was shaking from nerves. Finally, he did not numb the wound before digging around which was agony to the patient. I finally interrupted to ask if the patient was okay and then he realized how much pain he was putting them in. So I'd like to ask Dr. Ketchman to please give any person with an open wound a numbing agent before rummaging around in it. I think that's just common sense.

I was scared out of my mind, and she did nothing but make me feel worse after each appointment. I decided to seek out an alternative, which led me to CSV Cancer Center. I was lucky enough to get Dr. Ali as my new medical oncologist. He is absolutely amazing. Brilliant, kind, warm, he treats you like a fellow human being, not like just another name to check off on the chart. He listens and answers all of my questions with patience, knowledge, and even some humor. All of this is so appreciated when you're facing such a scary diagnosis. His nurse Deena is a gem!!!! My surgeon was Dr. Jambhekar, I also found her to be amazing. (CSV fired her for some reason, and was very lax about informing her patients. I am unimpressed with that!!) All of the nurses I have encountered have been amazing, from the chemo suite, to radiation, to surgery and medical oncology. The women who work at the front checking us all in are also wonderful. Despite having a two hour round trip every time I go to the Cancer center, I find it well worth it. I'm coming up on my two year diagnosis anniversary, I wouldn't want to have care anywhere else. Thank you to all the amazing people who work here!!

That hospital told me on day 5 of 11 that they would take care of scheduling everything once I told them where I wanted my cancer treatment to be done. By day eleven that had done absolutely nothing, including giving me my records or forwarding them to CSV. CHRISTUS really went out of their way to get my diagnosis from the hospital, and the other hospital was incredibly stubborn in their ability to ignore repeated requests but the ladies at CSV proved more effective. That was just the start of their above and beyond treatment. Doctors and Nurse practitioners regularly walk patients back out to the scheduler to make sure the next few appointments get made, they walk new patients over to their next destination in the center, they take time to ask questions, answer questions and reassure. The nurses are always hustling, always concerned and accommodating. Each patient receives a main nurse during chemo infusions, but they work together for the comfort of the patient. Their CNA's are awesome (looking at you Angelica). Their reception group is terrific and really has been pushing extra hard recently. Support staff are kind and efficient. Volunteers are epic! With the arrival of so many Nexus patients it's been a little busy, but they are pushing extra hard to make each patient a priority during their appointment, and hiring more staff as well. I'm not thrilled to have cancer, but I have found a lot of people to be thankful for during the last few months with CSV.
