If I could leave negative stars, I would. Patient services are the worst I've ever had to deal with in a hospital. I've dealt with doctors in three different departments. They were all rude. Getting a call transferred from one department to another in their own hospital seems to be too much for them to do correctly. They kept transferring me to the Albuquerque campus. Calling the numbers listed for the gastrointerology and radiology departments in Santa Fe gets you sent to God knows where. read more

CAUTION: My Experience with Dr. Bulthuis. I'm sharing my experience to encourage others to get a second opinion before any surgery with Dr. Bulthuis. I lived with a torn meniscus for over 20 years. When Dr. Bulthuis recommended meniscus trimming surgery, he said it was "my choice" and that I was a "good candidate" based on my MRI appearing younger than my actual age (mid-50s). These comments should have raised red flags. The problems that arose include: Minimal pre- and post-operative care instructions; When I experienced pain after accidentally bending down on my knee 3 weeks post-op, he blamed me and offered to operate again, without ordering a new MRI; He never discussed how my gait issues (pronation) would affect long-term outcomes; He didn't mention the higher surgical risks for women over 50; He never addressed how this surgery is often over-prescribed; He said my recovery would be 1 week to 1 year, while in reality it's been 15+ months with continuous physical therapy. Because of the surgery I can no longer ski, the main reason I agreed to surgery. I'm now learning to live with numerous permanent limitations I didn't have before. I don't know if the issues with Bulthuis were motivated by financial incentives, poor judgment on his part, or lack of communication, but I do know I wasn't treated with appropriate care or given complete information to make an informed decision. Please get a second opinion before any elective orthopedic surgery with Bulthuis. read more

Chelsea Hollander is a terrific doctor, but her Presbyterian Medical Services staff is so bad at doing things like getting a referral to occupational therapy, that even going to the office in person, and calling repeatedly and persistently, doesn't help to get a simple task done. Whomever is responsible for these tasks can't handle them and shouldn't be in a position to delay treatment that's been ordered. I have no issue with the Dr. or staff. It is with the hospital management. 1. First off the time of my texted appointment was different than than the one I was given by a nurse. The nurse was correct. 2. The 4801 Beckner address does not exist. Entrance is on Wellness way. There are NO addresses anywhere on the building. It might be nice if the 4801 was on the signage by the main entrance, and over the door. 3. Check in is downstairs. To me downstairs is the lowest level NOT the ground floor. 4. Check in tablets are a joke. Mine was sticky and slow. 5. Check in for lab work was even worse. The flat screen was on the wrong page. I had no clue what the ticket box was about. A helpful nurse walking by reset the computer and printed out the number. Is it that hard to print out instructions or label equipment? I made two laps around the building trying to find "downstairs" or 4801. Ended up parking by the lower level. I was late because of the wrong check in time, the slow check in tablets, and the hike from the parking lot on the lower level. I was a cardio patient. How about a little signage overhead with arrows. You know like the airports do, or would that interfere with the decor? read more

DO NOT SEE HEATHER JOHNSON IN THE GASTROENOLOGY DEPT. VERY UNCARING DOCTOR!! I am New to Santa Fe, NM and have been searching for a Gastroenterologist the past few months. It has been incredibly hard to find one who accepts New Patients. I finally got an Appointment with HEATHER JOHNSON. The Initial Appointment, I got a Call from her Office Canceling and Rescheduling (a few Hrs before the appointment), for a Week later. Ok... Now I am here in her Office, she walks in and immediately states that she can not help me Because I had gotten an Colonoscopy elsewhere and have worked with Previous Doctors before. I was stunned, with Tears in my eyes, I begged for her help, stating that I have been in Pain for almost a decade. I told her that I am New to NM and need a Doctor to help me. She repeadedly says if you are in pain to go to the ER. I responded that I need a Gastroenterologist to help me further (exactly what the ER has stated to me before), Her response again was to call Previous Doctors that I have worked with. WOW. My previous Doctors are in Other States and have not really been able to help me I told her. Again she said If I would have done a Colonoscopy with her, then maybe she could help. I am 40yrs old, Of course Ive seen other Doctors in my life, because of that, you won't help me??? SHE HAS ZERO CARE FOR YOU! HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN ANY DOCTOR IN YOUR PAST BECAUSE IF SO, SHE WILL NOT SEE YOU. BITTER BITTER WOMAN! ITS SAD TO SEE OUR HEALTHCARE AND DOCTORS LIKE THIS OUT IN THE FIELD. If I could give zero stars I would. Avoid Presbyterian in Santa Fe at all costs. I went in for a back pain procedure and before I went in, I phoned my insurance company multiple times confirming that I would only have a co-pay and the procedure was 100% covered. When I checked in for my procedure at Presbyterian I was again assured that I would only have a $200 co-pay. I am now looking at a hefty bill from Presbyterian because my procedure was not in network. My family and I have had multiple procedures and surgeries at Christus, and not once have we run into this problem. In addition be aware that Presbyterian does not have one of those mobile ultrasound machines to assist with difficult IV placements. At Christus, they always use this on me. When I told the nurse at Presbyterian that I have a history of blown veins and problematic IV placement, she ignored me and then proceeded to blow out my vein, ignored my pain until housekeeping was called to clean up the blood that was leaking all over the floor. I am never going back to Presbyterian. I left this review on Google as well and received an automatic reply to contact their billing department. This is is absolutely meaningless. My insurance company and I were on the phone with billing yesterday morning and the billing department could not resolve anything. They promised I would receive a phone call yesterday from a manager to resolve this issue. Never heard back from Presbyterian. read more

Had to file a grievance. If I could leave less then one star I would. I was assaulted by a nurse who left bruises on me while in status epilectus and then, when it had stopped: I told the doctor, while crying, and he said "This isn't a jail, you can leave." I filed a grievance and risk management had to report both of them to the department of health. Only thing that was good was the women who helped with the grievance process. Be careful, getting care isn't always "care". No more Presbyterian hospital for me, I'll be sent across town to Christeous. read more

Utter Incompetence I tried to schedule a pelvic ultrasound and spoke with Darlene in Radiology. She told me they had no appointments, not now and not in a year (I asked). She said I needed to go to their St. Michael's office to schedule it. I called them and they told me they haven't done that type of ultrasound in many years and Darlene knows that. So they called her and she called me back saying her computer was down and that's why she couldn't book the appointment. Why didn't she just tell me this instead of lying and sending me on a wild goose chase? So I show up for the appointment and Darlene tells me that "he" will be with me shortly. I told her I don't want a male tech for an invasive pelvic procedure. She says they won't have any female techs for another month. She then says whoever booked the appointment should have told me. That would be you Darlene! Really frustrating. Ugh! read more

Customer service is horrible. Your told the day before surgery when you are scheduled. I was told my surgery was at 11:15. Then I was told it was moved to 9:45 so I I arrived at 8:30. When I checked in I was told my surgery was still at 9:45. So at 9:15 I asked and Customer service told me my surgery was at 11:15. When I asked why I was told the different time they said they have new staff. It's important to get accurate information. I needed to ass that information to my wife to schedule my pick up. read more

Just discharged from this hospital and I'm glad I'm alive! NEVER GO HERE! I will be switching to Cristus. I can't even list all the problems but the standouts were a rude dr who told me he didn't know he was required to give me updates (when I asked him 2 questions after only seeing him one time 4 hours prior for about 3 minutes); waited four hours for pain med even though I was crying and holding the wall because I thought my head was exploding, which I told them); NPO order that no one told me so I drank liquids w/o knowing I wasn't supposed to; finally admitted to an exam room after approx an hour and even after triage ER nurse told me my bp was too high but she had to get a room cleaned - yet at least 3 patients went into rooms before me and were seen and at least 6 patients exited the ER (husband was counting) - I sat in waiting room crying, holding my head and spitting into waste basket because walking to bathroom was too hard. I will be writing lots of complaint letters to hospital admin and state regulatory board(s). Absolutely negligent, criminal care! I would give no stars if I could. read more

Sitting in the waiting area, a person who hd just left returned. They tell the nurse they had a fall. The nurse questions 1) if they fell right then 2) if they hd an appointment there still 3) if they fell outside or in the lobby. No injury related questions, admission only after. They even found time to converse with a colleague who witnessd the fall on filling out a report prior to admission. Disconcerting. Falls are the second leading cause of unintentional injury deaths worldwide. Here, libaility concerns are more pressing. read more

They've rescheduled my appointments at least four times since I've been going during my pregnancy. They keep getting my name wrong, and they keep rescheduling my appointments! They send me another letter saying the wrong date for one, and that they need to reschedule! They're saying that I need to go every other week since it's getting close to my due date, yet they keep rescheduling my appointments! It's getting annoying at this point because it's when I need to have my appointments the most! I've had a miscarriage before so I'm obviously very careful about my pregnancy! How can I feel safe if they keep moving my appointments? I'm beyond upset! I changed my number and I gave them the new information and they still didn't update it! So if your having a baby anytime soon I suggest you go to St. Vincent! Don't go here they don't have there shit together yet! read more

The incompetence and arrogance of their administrative staff is unbelievable. After my third visit, they say I owe $500, but they never sent me a bill or estimate at any time over the past three months. They never advised of fees before I visited despite my asking several times. They screwed up an appointment that was supposed to be assistance doing medicare paperwork, instead they gave me to a doctor and billed me. $500 for no help whatsoever. They didn't even counsel me on where to get affordable medication. For a non-profit FQHC, they bill like an insurance company or regular doctor and don't address the financial needs of their patients. They screwed up, and the main office admitted it, but they still charged me and excessive amount of money for nothing. Great way to treat your disabled seniors on a limited income. And the young girl at the front desk with long straight black hair should not be in a customer service position. Not only is she rude, but claimed I had no DNR on file when it was completed at that facility by their doctor. Horrible. I filed a grievance but I have no expectation that they care one iota. They have no idea what they are doing, but even worse, they're arrogant and simply should not be in a service position. Rude. Incompetent. Maybe they're just trying to make money to pay for the new building. read more

My husband was transported by ambulance today to the Emergency facility at Presbyterian Hospital in Santa Fe. I found out two hours later that he had been taken after he became dehydrated while walking. An 80 year old man with cognitive issues, the dehydration was severe and confusion was extreme. I called and asked them to reassure him I was on my way; they did. I arrived and was asked information quickly to allow me to get my husband's room in a hurry. The care was thorough; the individuals were kind; the tests administered were interpreted quickly. The attending physician was compassionate, asked the right questions, and made us feel that our issues were critical even though my husband's medical needs were far from the worst they were dealing with tonight. We were released after 6 hours and able to come home by midnight. I did not choose Presbyterian, but I am grateful that the ambulance took him there. This is where you want to be in an emergency. read more

I went to Presbyterian ER at 7am 1/24/22, for elevated heart rate (hypertension). The receptionist was awesome, she asks a few questions and said have a seat. In 5 seconds (literally), an RN took me to a room and hooked me up to a BP machine. He was so personable and professional, he quelled my fears. Another RN took me to a room and again monitored my BP. (also very professionable and friendly) Another RN did an EKG and a blood test and continued to monitor me. Dr Anchors came with the results of the blood test and explained my condition (which fortunately wasn't severe) and gave me several options to consider. The doctor and team were extraordinary. Considering the C-19 craziness, I was treated like I was the only patient in the hospital. The staff acted quickly, but I never felt rushed. My God, these people are Saints!! I felt guilty to have added to their burden, but I never experienced hypertension before and read the dangers of delaying seeing a doctor. Thank you Presbyterian for being in Santa Fe and having such wonderful, caring, professional people. read more

Less than 1 star. Not to be trusted. Nurses and staff lie regarding treatment plans. Malpractice. Presbyterian Medical Services in Santa Fe, New Mexico has the worst ER staff that I have experienced in my 60 years. The night shift intake ER administrator on 9.30.2020 brags about being incharge, but clearly does not have the skillset to manage staff, patients or their families. She is rude and scattered. The front desk clerks play the scilent treatment, they will not give their names, the names of the nurses, or attending doctors. My child was brought into the ER by EMS and needed an emergency psychiatric evaluation. The hospital ER staff were all unskilled in handling the emergency. They physically abuse my child. My family was give a treatment plan by the night head nurse, and when the shift changed the 10.1. 2020 morning head nurse discarged my child without an evaluation. When our family members got to the hospital and we found out my child was discarged onto the street. When asked if the psychiatrist had done the evaluation, and who did the discharged they said they would send the discharge nurse. They lied and sent the security guard out. The security guard violated patient privacy by speaking about his view on the discharge. The head nurse refused to talk to us. When the head nurse saw that I was recording them on my phone the security guard threatened us so we left. My child has not come home and at best is lost wondering around on the street not knowing who they are or where they live. I reccomend never trusting this hospital, untill they fire all of those involved in this malpractice. read more

I was losing weight and wanted to have a women's health exam to make sure there are no issues contributing to my weight loss. I made an appointment months ago, and it was for several weeks later. The day came, and they cancelled the appointment. They set up another for weeks later. Then on the day of the appointment they cancelled it. They set up another for more weeks later, and that time I actually went down to Presbyterian, a very long drive from where I live, and then the cancelled it. They offered me another appointment a month later. I declined as months had gone by and I had absolutely no reason to believe they would keep any appointment they made. It seems like the office visits are just carried out if the doctors aren't busy with surgery or baby delivery. It seems like a throw away if they happen to have time. When I talked to them about it, they seemed very robotic and not genuinely concerned about my health. I give up. Really made me feel like my health just does not matter. read more
