The providers are good. The front desk staff, while friendly, seem to make an error with each next appointment scheduling, but this is always remedied. "Nurse visits" aren't with a nurse, but a patient care assistant. I would prefer an RN administering vaccines to my child so questions can be appropriately answered. We have been taking our two children to Arroyo Chamiso for 5 years. In that time we've seen 3 different doctors come and go, which is very distressing, especially for my kids, who like their doctors and just when they start to trust their doctors, that doc is gone. We are now with Dr. Kleiner, who was a founding member of the practice, so hopefully this won't be a problem any more. We have always liked our pediatricians at this practice, and the nursing staff is excellent. The phone triage nurses do tend to err on the side of caution, so beware. If you have any issue and you want actual advice, be prepared to bring your child in to see a clinician. My biggest issue with this practice (other than the rotating door of docs) is the reception staff. As gatekeepers, these women are impenetrable. Trying to get a sick-child appointment can take an entire day, between the reception staff and the terrible phone tree. I have noticed (and have had this confirmed with other patient families) that when a man calls, the reception staff is much more responsive. They will return my husband's phone messages, and will respond to his him waiting on hold, where when I call they will just leave me on hold until I hang up and call back. read more

Arroyo Chamiso has always served as the primary pediatrician for my two now 14 year olds. They and I have always been happy with their doctors and with the clinic as a whole. It has sometimes felt like we rarely hold on to the same doctor for more than a year or two, which can be mildly frustrating, but the clinic has high enough standards that while I and my kiddos may miss the previous pediatrician, we've never been disappointed in the care. read more

.My daughter had been seen by them since she was knee high to a grasshopper. She now needs shots to be eligible to be a medic. But the Chamiso pediatric company wants her to renew as a new patient... ? Why the lack of respect and timelessness ? My wife stated there where other companies that would like to have a new patient. The response was to kick rocks?.. I guess I will. My Dr is willing to see a new patient months before Arroyo chamiso is willing to accommodate an established patient.. I wish my business was fortunate enough to give a hoot about our fellow man or young girl trying to do right in their world. Or not me and my daughter are here to help people. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Arroyo Chamiso. Both my 6 year old daughter and soon to be 4 month old son both see Dr. Stelzer. He is great! I have never had a problem with calling for immunization records and the front desk/reception have never given me a hard time or left me on hold. I just recently needed to get a form filled out so my son can attend daycare and they handled it within 15 minutes of me just showing up without notice. I like Arroyo Chamiso. read more

This is a nice clinic. I like that there are two play areas, "sick and well." Dr. Mullin is really nice and was great with my difficult 4 yr old son. The male nurse was so nice and funny. I had a great experience and will make this my main pediatrician for both my kids. I was also able to reschedule the same day and I didn't get any fees for it. read more

This place is not completely awful but definitely not the best. If you have an appt be prepared to wait about another 2 hours since your appointment scheduled time. I love my daughters doctor. But the Receptionist are awful, they are not friendly. they seem like they dont care. Non the less I've had worse, love the doctor and the nurses. read more

This is the most incompetent office I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. We moved with our three children from out of state and unfortunately decided to go against our community's warnings and took our children to this office because they were able to get them in the quickest. The care providers they saw were fine, but then came the shot saga. They were unable to give my children their vaccinations because they didn't have their medical records. No problem! I filled out and returned the medical release forms and returned them the same day. I was told I could call back once the records were received to schedule a shot only visit. I started calling a few days later and continued to leave messages on their answering machine because I was told by the scheduling staff that they couldn't tell if records had been received. I called at MINIMUM 10 times and left messages on the machine that said my call would be returned by the end of business day. I NEVER received a returned call. Finally after insisting that the schedulers patch me through to a live person, they said to call back the next morning and someone could help me. I called the next morning, and they said they had no idea what that person was talking about because they couldn't help me. I insisted that they need to find me someone to talk to because they refuse to return my calls. They finally got me through to someone at Arroyo Chamiso who informed me that they had received my children's medical records. I explicitly asked about shot records because that's what we needed to have a shot only visit. They said they had everything and that a nurse would look through them to see which shots they needed and would call me back the next day to schedule an appointment. Surprise! They never called! So I called the scheduler and said I needed to schedule a shot only visit and that they would need to tell me which shots they needed after going through their records. She told me that wasn't a problem and scheduled my three kids together. Two months had passed at this point. Two months to schedule a shot only visit. So, we arrived at the office, and once in the room, the nurse said, "OH, we don't have their shot records so we can't give them their shots." At that point I lost it and demanded to speak with the office manager. The office manager said they had their visit records but there were over 30 pages and it would take too much time to go through and find out which shots they needed. Lady, you had two months to figure it out!!! So we sat for two hours while they got their old office to fax over a more compiled list, and they got shots. I told the nurse I needed the shot records, and she said that if I waited until the next day, she could compile their past shots and the ones from the office that day. I said I would return in a couple days. I returned as promised, and the front office lady said they didn't have their shot records ready and did I request them? I saw the nurse from the other day, and she said she would print them out. I took the records and then looked over them. My oldest daughter's records didn't have anything before the previous year. I asked about it and she said they had only sent over those shots. Then why didn't you request the others?!? I waited in the office for another hour while they said they were working on it and waiting for the old office to fax. And then I had to leave because I had another appointment scheduled because this was only supposed to take a couple minutes! Never in my life will I return and never will I recommend that ANYONE take their children to this office. Go ANYWHERE else. It's worth the wait and your sanity. read more
