They have gotten a little bit better than they have been in the past, but still have a ways to go. They are better than Goodwill at least. The biggest problem they have is the lack of new product making it out to the sales floor. When you can go weeks between visits and is mostly the same stuff, it makes you want to stop even showing up. One thing they really need to address is their insanity when it comes to furniture. I haven't had the best experiences here so far. We just moved from out of state and I was hoping for a place to go to help refurnish our home but this place is soooooo expansive. They are asking far too much for nearly everything. I do like their colored tag savings but they have so many items that have been there for months and months because they are priced too high. You should not be charging people $3 each for used dinner plates. What good does it do the community to let items such as these just sit on a shelf? All in all, I would say this is an about average thrift store. I'll share a tip that one of the employees shared with me... If you donate items, ask for the coupon so you can at least get 20% off a regularly priced item. read more

I loved this place, it was my second time here and let me tell you, I'm from out of state, this place is really nice. Definitely on the pricier side for a thrift store, but I find gems every time I come. Cute grandma pieces, adorable vintage blouses, and I even found a bathing suit from the 90s that fits me perfect!!! read more

This store is huge! Which makes the adventure of thrift store shopping that much more fun. My husband and I came in here while we were in town last week to check it out. We were both amazed at the sheer size of the store. They have a great selection of books, clothes, household items, furniture, and much more. I found a pair of Nike workout pants for $4.99, several books, and a couple shirts for my husband. We spent less than $15 for everything. Employees were all very sweet and helpful. I needed to try on jeans, and there was an employee nearby. She told me the item limit in the dressing room, as well as asking me to lock and close the door when I was done. It's a store I will definitely go back to when I am in this area because of great selections, prices, and friendly employees. read more

Hardback books are now $2.99 and inventory continues to be high quality. It is true that some very esoteric titles are priced at internet ASKING prices, not sold prices, and they sit there forever. I buy more slacks from this store than all other thrift stores put together, and my senior price is $4.49. The checkout stations are easily slammed. I'm OK with a five minute wait there, but if all associates are busy, one cannot access the change rooms. read more

Lots of stuff, but the prices for furniture are freaking INSANE. WTF? then there is this "policy" they have of not helping you lift or carry items to your car if you do splurge on the furniture. I love this store, the customer service, the good deals, and the coupon for donating. Since we've moved here we have donated A LOT. So of course once I drop off a load of stuff I have to come inside and look for any treasures. Once in awhile they will move things around and you will have to search for where they moved it to, but it keeps you on your toes. I like getting there plastic tubs for holiday decor. I purchased a lot of plastic drawers here for my bedroom and my daughters. Rain boots, clothes, tennis shoes for my daughter's growing feet, all kinds of goodies. I've seen where they have a 50% off clothing sale but not sure when it happens, if it happens once a month. Not sure where they advertise it, next time I go I'll ask. read more

St Vinnie's has the best book deals in town. The selection is totally random, and changes frequently. We always watch their road signs for the one that says book 50% off. Regular prize is childrens book .50, and paper backs 1.25. They also have tons of furniture, clothing, and appliances. The reason they don't get 5 stars is because their electronics wall, and home area are disasters. read more

This place is not worth the time it takes to drive there. It's dirty, filled with garbage and everything is priced like it's made out of gold. Inventory sits for months on end unsold and the person who is in charge of pricing does not seem to understand what they are doing. Recently this place came under new management with promises of changes to gain their customers back, but in the end it was all talk and nothing improved. These people have a skewed perspective on what things are worth, and seem to think a local thrift store with a limited customer base can get the same and higher prices than eBay and Amazon. Their display cases are filled with obsolete electronics priced like they are current high end electronics, broken and dirty old toys for obscene prices, fake autographed items, counterfeit handbags and purses, and generally garbage. Furniture is the worst of all. They constantly price things far higher than the same thing brand new at places like Biglots. $50 sofas there priced at $700 and so on. This place is a joke. read more

This is my new favorite thrift store. It is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate. The staff is friendly, greeting newbies and regular customers alike. The store has a huge variety of merchandise. Best of all...each jigsaw puzzle--so far--has been complete with NO missing pieces. I'll definitely be back when I visit. read more

This thrift store is quite large. It's well organized and has some okay deals. The store does feel quite dirty. I'm not sure they have full time employees or if they just volunteer. Also if you find an item without a price tag you may get sheer panic out of the cashier as they try to find that one person in the store who knows what to do. Overall it's a good thrift store. Ya gotta love St Vinnies. The one in LA is ENORMOUS, this one isn't that big but it's still a sizable building. I couldn't find any clothes I wanted, but it was a good selection. The book section is HUGE, I was in heaven. Lots of records to browse thru too, and I found a seminal George Carlin album for $3! They had lots of furniture and home goods too. st. vincent de paul is an okay thrift store. the furniture is good to great quality, but definitely over priced compared to other thrift stores in Albany. st. vinnie's also charges for in town delivery. i think it might be $35, but it's been a few months since i last checked. during the holiday season, they have a great selection of decorations, ornaments, and cards for cheap! i don't like the housewares section, which is usually what i come here for. most of the plates and bowls are sold in sets, and they refuse to sell them separately. as such, the shelves of their plates/bowls/cups section are overrun with crappy sets that are over priced, and not microwave or dishwasher safe. if you're willing to dig through the shelves, you may be able to find a few bowls and plates that aren't sold in a set that ARE dishwasher/microwave safe. the utensils section is also kind of crappy. i can never find a spatula or tongs. but one time i found a great metal potato masher! the used book selection, as pointed out by Arwen, is amazing and cheap! they have tons of books, including literature written in german, french, and spanish. they even have an "Oprah's Book Club" section, which i found to be a laugh riot. st. vinnie's can be hit or miss, especially if you have specific items in mind. their selections are constantly changing for furniture and housewares. they also have color tag discounts, where on specific days, all items with a green/yellow/white tag are discounted, either 25% or 50%. pretty useful! read more

Huge store, lots and lots of books. Huge women's clothing section. The men's clothing section is quite small though. Not much in "Big & Tall" either, basically anything XL or bigger is thrown in as B&T and you have to scour through hundreds of items to find the one or two true B&T items. read more
