I found him the same day he got to the shelter and convinced my partner to go meet him with me. We got there about half an hour before they closed on a Sunday and they let us stay with him in a room until half an hour after closing. We spent time with him in the yard even though it was raining, and when he was apprehensive we went inside and he came right to me. The person who was working with us offered some treats for us to give him and checked in on us every once in a while, giving us privacy to just be with him and talk together. When we left I knew he was the dog for us. I talked to my partner and convinced him, and the next day we called and placed a hold on the boy we had visited with. We showed up about an hour later and went through the adoption process. It took about half an hour and included a detailed explanation of his file, his medical records, and what the knew about him. We filled out the adoption application, they entered the information, then took my payment. Once we paid, they brought our new family member out to us. I put the collar and leash I had for him on and we took a picture together. The staff walked him out to our car and he jumped right in. I got in with him and he put his head in my lap. He's been my shadow ever since! He's gotten more comfortable in our home every day and there have been no nasty surprises yet. The facility is super nice and looks newer. There are hoses hooked up to the walls and ceiling for easy cleaning. The dog room and hallway before it do stink of dog pee, but there's nothing you can do about that when you run an indoor shelter. There's a ton of yard space and a walking track. There's a separate room that looked like a quarantine for new arrivals (or possibly small dogs, but it looked pretty empty so my guess is quarantine) and a whole other area for cats so they don't have the stress of dog noise right next to them. There's a small room in the lobby where you can meet dogs. They have a shop you can get supplies at if you are needing stuff for your first night together. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone knows the dogs and their stories and status, even the front desk folks. They clearly care about the animals that they are responsible for. The dogs seemed to be well cared-for and happy. The cat room also looked cozy, but we didn't go in so I don't know much about it. There is plenty of parking. We missed the turn the first time because our GPS told us to turn later, but looking back it should have been obvious because they had street signs pointing to the humane society. Just something to keep in mind if you go. If you're on the fence about going here to find your next family member, do it! These people are amazing and the animals are cared for and loved. Our experience was nothing short of wonderful.

Worked hard too! Absolutely loved the animals. But, unfortunately, she had to have a serious operation done. The way they treated her after she got back was ridiculous. So, folks that know her always remember that when going in to see the animals. The animals remember people and when someone is gone that they got close to makes it hard for them too. Treat all well! Steph and the manager Chris (Christine), were horribly awful to me accused me of stealing cats. I had to send a picture of the dead person (literally) to PROVE she was dead. They didn't take my word for it- then they called the cops on me because Steph got her feelings hurt. I've donated and volunteered my services at SafeHaven for years! WTF Both of them need to be fired! They wouldnt give me the boards info because they knew they messed up. Awful place. Warehouse. Animals in animals out. They try to squeeze as much money out of you as they can. It's pretty bad ya'll. If you have another option TAKE IT.

Adopted them and they were up to date on shots, seemed healthy, and were neutered. I got my first cat from here as a kitten over a year and a half ago and got my other cat about 6 months ago. Whenever I'm visited too I've had nothing but good experiences.

The kennels can get very noisy. 2) Meet and greet areas are available for you to get up close and personal with the dogs. 3) One of the keys to a successful dog adoption is finding one whose energy level matches your own. A high energy dog and medium to low energy owner is not a good match. 4) Basic obedience training is a very, very good thing. Believe me, you don't want to be the one chasing your happy-go-lucky dog down a busy street after it got loose! The recall command (come) can literally save your dog's life.

She also shows them and takes immaculate care of these wonderful dogs. At the outset we were looking for a puppy. We have experience with Shibas and were excited to add one to our home. We connected with Charlotte and Frank then traveled from Portland to meet them and put a deposit down on a puppy to be born later this year. While visiting this great family and their amazing dogs, we were lucky enough to find out that one of the 7 year old female Shibas was ready for her Forever Home. Long story short, we are completely blessed to have her in our home now as a companion dog for us. Her temperament is exceptional. She is extremely well trained, and the transition has gone really well. The care, love and attention Charlotte and Frank put into these pup's is second to none. It shows in their spirit, their thick healthy coat, their vet records, and in all interactions with Charlotte and Frank. It was tough for Charlotte to part with our Shiba, and understandably so. She made the transition very smooth, writing out all kinds of information, teaching us First Aid for dogs, providing ample information for any unexpected scenarios, and even bundling up our new pup with a blanket of familiar smells. Charlotte's level of care and professionalism, and her love for Shibas, is unparalleled. I highly recommend her for your new Best Friend -- the furry Shiba kind.

I am always greeted warmly by the volunteers, and strike up genuine conversations each trip. The shelves are abundant but still well-organized, offering everything from home decor to utilities to crafting supplies. Prices are fair and affordable, which is so refreshing amidst the overcharging of big corporations. I appreciate this especially as a college student on a budget. And every purchase I make goes toward the most precious animals! I visit them frequently, too. :) I'm so excited for the opportunities that their relocation and expansion will bring; I can't wait to swing by the animal corner at the front once it's been developed!

There's an eclectic mix of stuff. Prices can be just OK or totally super value. I always have to make sure I have a wad of cash if I go in because it's a rare day that I leave empty handed. Fun dishes, kitchen implements, groovy clothes, hats, random bits of hardware, and who even knows WHAT you'll find. Sometimes I just have to leave things I want because I already have enough stuff. But wow. Just wow. Then there's the staff. Is it OK to call them staff? They are volunteers. They do their work because they love the Humane Society. You know what? That's awesome too! Their revenue goes to the local Humane Society and provides over a quarter of the Humane Society's annual budget. That's huge. The staff is also friendly and helpful. I better get on down there; it's been a couple days!
