I completely understand salons have policies, and I immediately had the front desk communicate with Valerie to reschedule for the nearest available slot, offering to pay the fee toward my next appointment as a deposit. To my shock, Valerie completely refused to accommodate an established client. Not only did she insist on charging the full amount for a missed session due to an emergency, but she also had the front desk tell me she would have "no availability for the next few weeks"--a petty, punitive gesture toward a loyal customer. While businesses have rules, they also require basic human understanding and professional flexibility for returning clients. Valerie chose a one-time penalty over long-term customer loyalty. I will not be returning to this salon, and I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you value a stylist who treats clients with mutual respect and professionalism.
