Denali Transportation Services This company was recommended…read moreto me by a Denali hotel front desk agent. Initially I called and left a message and my call was returned quickly. I was quoted a price that was acceptable to me. This area doesn't have taxi or Uber options that I was aware of so I used this companies services. I was texted a weblink to pay for the ride as cash was not accepted. The link was easy to use I just entered my credit card information. The driver called me when he arrived at my hotel so that I didn't have to stand outside in the rain to wait for him. He was a safe driver that got me to my destination in a timely manner. I'd definitely recommend this company.

I received a call the night before and was told that our group would be picked up in front of Denali Cabins at 7:40 am. Our group of 6 was waiting in front of the cabins at 7:30 waiting. I missed a call from the main number at 7:46 am. When I returned the number at 7:48, I was told that the driver had come by to pick us up and no one was out there so he left. I was talking with Hunter. He apologized and said he would come and pick us up because his driver had already moved on. Thirty minutes later Hunter pulled up in his van, surprised that there were 6 of us and explained that we would not all fit in one Jeep. Well, I had booked 2 jeeps, when the date was changed, they also changed the prepaid reservation to 1 jeep. Hunter reviewed my account realized that I was correct. They had two jeeps available. We were sent on some backroads with pretty scenery with very little direction, but at least we were on our own. We had agreed with Hunter that instead of us getting a ride back to the cabins where we stayed (a 15 min drive) that they would take us straight to the train station to save time. Once we were ready to go back to the train station we called and waited for over an hour. I called the main number again and spoke with Hunter. He said "Hmm I don't know where my driver is, I thought he had already picked you up. I will come get you". Once again, Hunter came to get us. There is a temporary building where we dropped off the car with no one inside. So, either his driver lied twice, or Hunter was covering for him. The cars themselves were so dirty that Hunter used a squeegee to try to clean the windows. The back-up cameras could not be used because of the dirt. I would not recommend this company for anything.

We were very excited for the Husky Homestead experience because the description led us to believe…read moreit would be an opportunity to interact with and learn about the dogs. Unfortunately, the experience did not match our expectations. While the staff was knowledgeable, our driver was friendly and accommodating, and it was clear that the team cares about their dogs and dog sledding, the overall experience felt misleading. The majority of the 90-minute tour consisted of a presentation about Jeff and Amanda's dog mushing career, some training methods, and racing experiences. While interesting, it felt more like a seminar than an interactive dog experience. Our entire family was given approximately two minutes total with a single puppy. Much of that time was spent positioning us for a photo, which was later offered for purchase for an additional $10. We were also told we would have opportunities to pet the adult dogs, but when the dogs were brought through the audience, they passed by our almost every group without giving us the chance to interact with them. As a result, our actual hands-on interaction with the dogs amounted to only a few minutes during the entire visit. I believe the experience would be improved by either renaming it to better reflect what it actually is--a dog sledding seminar--or restructuring the schedule to provide significantly more interaction with the dogs. For example, dedicating a larger portion of the tour to meeting, petting, and learning about the dogs firsthand would better align with what many visitors are likely expecting. The presentation itself also felt longer than necessary, with many of the same points being repeated throughout. Most of the information could have been communicated in a much shorter timeframe, allowing for more meaningful engagement with the animals. Additionally, the experience felt somewhat rushed, as if the focus was on moving groups through efficiently rather than creating a welcoming and memorable visit. The staff were knowledgeable, but interactions felt more like a lecture than a conversation, and we did not feel particularly welcomed or encouraged to engage. If you enjoy learning in-depth about competitive dog sledding and hearing stories from experienced mushers, you may find value in this tour. However, if you are looking for a hands-on experience with huskies and puppies, you may leave disappointed. Based on our experience, I would not recommend it to friends or family seeking meaningful interaction with the dogs, especially given the price point of $50 per person.

This was by far the most unique tour we had in a while. We took the 5:00 PM tour, and our driver,…read moreJoel Miner, was none other than the owner himself. There are 5 Sherp vehicles and we felt very fortunate and honor to have him as our guide. We are a family of four, including two teenagers, and he made the experience enjoyable for all of us. He even used a drone to scout the area for wildlife. As a retired state trooper who participated in rescue missions, he immediately made us feel safe and comfortable. He was fun, knowledgeable, and shared many personal stories that kept our entire family entertained throughout the tour. Toward the end of the trip, he spotted a young moose in a nearby field, which was the perfect cherry on top of an already amazing experience. One of the best parts was receiving a souvenir video package that included drone footage from our tour. It was such a thoughtful touch and a wonderful keepsake. Highly recommended! We had a fantastic experience, and it was well worth the money.

Then we came to Alaska and spent 3 days in the Fairbanks area without seeing any wildlife. I drove around Healy...beautiful mountains, but still no wildlife. To be clear, there's never a guarantee of seeing animals in the wild, Joel was very clear on this point, but Joel, Tim, and Mark did everything to increase our chances and they delivered! Between two simultaneous Sherp vehicles and multiple drones scouting ahead for wildlife, we saw 2 adult moose and a cub. We also saw a snowshoe hare. We also saw beautiful mountain ranges from a perspective you won't see from the roadway, even if you visit Denali National Park. We got to ride over frozen rivers and lakes and see a historic WW2 era cabin and hear the unique history of it, as well as Alaska in general. The guides went out of their way to make the trip fun, safe, and informative. In the end, the tour was expensive, but a fantastic value for what you get. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area.
