Came here on Friday night to learn some new dance moves! It started at 8pm, and you do not need your own partner to come. They all rotate in circle so everyone gets to dance with everybody. If you download the app with the QR code they have in the front, it's free to get in. I believe this was 18+ up for the dance class. There was one instructor and he danced with you in the circle too. Ladies learned the dance first then it was the boys. Then we all come together and danced. It looked like we weren't the only first timers here. We've learned Poka and barn yard dance. My first experience here was on a Saturday night and I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. We brought a group of friends as two of them aren't from Texas and had never two-stepped before. The venue itself was pretty crowded as expected, but the dance floor was a lot less crowded than the areas around it. That is, until line dancing songs came on! They played a good mixture of country music, hip hop music and a random variety of line dance songs (Boot Scoot Boogie, Cupid Shuffle, The Wobble, etc). The music mix was seriously SO HOUSTON that it made the night extra fun! Also, we found out that they do FREE two-stepping lessons at 8pm on Friday nights, so we will definitely be returning with our group of friends for that. Tip: if you plan to go out on the dance floor, you're not allowed to bring your drink out there. This place was SO MUCH FUN!! I'm relatively new to Houston and I honestly haven't been to many Texas or country bars. This place was definitely the experience I needed. It's kind of like a night club with a very country feel. There was lots of partner dancing, line dancing, and over all fun. The DJ played a good mix of current rap and pop songs and old and new country. There is an upstairs with karaoke and a FREE mechanical bull off to the side. There were lots of bars around the place to order from, so we didn't have to wait very long for any of our drinks. First time here since it was renamed Sampede. Came out to celebrate a birthday and the place accommodated 10 of us. There was never a dull moment and kids didn't get board. There is also a mechanical bull. Enterance for ladies that night was free before 11pm or free if you wore Astros gear. Ages 18 and up welcomed. There is a food tent as well and cards are accepted. I visited a friend in Humble TX for a couple days and he took me to the Stampede. It is like I walked into the cinematic version of every line dancing bar movie ever made. It was fantastic. Everyone was so cool and non judgmental. I am from NY and have never experienced such a positive vibe at a "nightclub". I am very disappointed in this establishment. We were turned away due to my husband having holes in his jeans which NO skin was shown! This place wouldn't let me in for jeans that have holes in them, even though the jeans are stitched the way they are & there's no actually skin showing. "New management" is the excuse they gave me, & I watched another gentlemen get in with similar holes in his jeans, but they didn't want to let me in because my holes were "excessive" even though the website says as long as the holes are stitched that way there's no issues. Not my favorite, but disclaimer I've only been to two Western bars, Stampede and Wild West. I definitely prefer Wild West even though it's smaller, but I felt like the crowd was better and people just wanted to have fun, dancing, no expectations. At Stampede it's huge, but people were not as friendly and most were overly drunk and obnoxious. Fyi they had a constant replay of a video clip of two girls riding the bull while facing reach other and wearing skimpy bikinis... They had firemen there that night promoting their calendar, granted it was for a good cause but you could donate any amount and get them to remove their tops... Maybe I've outgrown the overly sexualized promotions or was just expecting a classier venue, but it just didn't sit well with me. We did enjoy some of the line dancing but with so many people, there wasn't much room to move. At Wild West people were overall polite, asking you to dance, even tolerating a newbie like me and my lack of country dancing skills, then thanking you for the dance. Just my preference, I like more intimate settings but if you're one for huge crowds then this is the place for you. All in all, I'm glad I got to experience it, but I don't think I'll return. read more

Very big club was great there was karaoke poker and Bull ride I didn't get on the bull ride because my hair piece wasn't secure lol.It's complementary to give the the guy a tip they help you on the bull and control the ride. It was a mixed crowed that night but mainly white a Hispanic. I would definitely there is another club beside it that they own and have the same parking lot with but it holds more of a Hispanic crowd. I think a concert was going on the night I went. Recently, I flew to Houston to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and his family (my boyfriend and his dad have birthdays close to mine). On my special day, we asked locals for a good place to have a night out and they recommended Stampede. This hall was, for a lack of a better word, the most awesomest highlight of our trip. Cover included free mechanical bull rides all night as well as billiards. Coming from California where clubs are small and cramped, this huge location was a breathe of fresh air (figuratively as they actually allowed smoking inside). It's so fun!! When I am in town I always drag my brother and sisters in laws out for two steppin and mechanical bull riding at least once. This has both. I am not even skilled at two stepping, I just love to watch the couples dance effortlessly. Now I will jump out there and line dance but other than that, I am mostly a spectator. Overall I did like the club & the music was okay. BUT I didn't like the fact that they allow people to smoke inside of the building ! The whole club smelled like cigarettes ! & im not sure what gave me more of a headache, the worker talking for the bull rides, or the cigarette smell! Stampede Houston is truly the best bar I've ever been to. Anything that could be wrong with a bar, they've thought of it and made it right. The DJ played a great mix of country and a little bit of hip hop, even some older jams like Funky Cold Medina. Bartenders are friendly and pour a strong drink. The bathrooms are huge, clean, and even have an attendant. The whole place is clean; I noticed bouncers and bussers cleaning up regularly throughout the night. We were there for a Randy Houser concert, so I'm not sure if it's different on a non-concert night. This was a great experience and we will definitely be returning. read more

DISCRIMINATED against my friend for being gay and wearing shorts!!! They stated that HE could no longer wear SHORTS to Stampede and to speak to a manger. Then the general manager told him the same thing and looked at his id and said "this says your a boy". My friend was not causing any trouble and used to love going with his friends to have fun. And he has worn shorts before and there were numerous of other people who were wearing extremely revealing clothing, but were not told anything because they were FEMALE. She told us, to go to the smaller sized bar to order our drinks because we haven't tipped all night. Mind you, we tipped every single time, but I guess what we tipped wasn't enough for her. They play like 40 minutes of couples twostepping, and then 20 minutes of linedancing and pop/hiphop. Drinks are not too expensive, cover isn't too bad. Came here with a group of friends last night. It was a huge facility. Note that it is recessed from the Eastex feeder (I passed it and had to circle around). Extremely large parking lot and also has valet service. We came here before the winter weather, and so the place was pretty empty from opening (before 8p) to 11:30 when I left. Amy was our server and she was great, very friendly and informative (only her 4th day). It was Thursday and they had $2 drinks (everything but Red Bull or Patron) all night. I am not sure what standard pricing is. Mixed drinks were a good pour. Music was okay (mostly country, some hip-hop). Like I said nobody was there so not much dancing, it may be different feel when crowded. Bouncers walk the floor and at the door, I was told by one they have fights a lot on Saturdays. They have free dance lessons, though it was cancelled last night. One person in our group is an dance instructor so he led some lessons for our group and some of the waitresses joined. Large dance floors, multiple bars, mechanical bull, pool tables, friendly staff, cute hostesses and servers and bartenders. I may come back if friends desire to go, but will be wary if it occurs on a Saturday.
