I finally was able to play this course. My friend's spouse works for Stanford and he invited us to play as guests. This is not a public course and I noticed that players are either alumni, Stanford employees, or members. I'm grateful to my golf buddy for inviting us. I want to rate this course on the conditions of the golf course and the challenges any golfers face on each hole. Depending on your handicaps, it can be hard as well as rewarding. My group played on the white tees and we had a lot of par 4 covering more than 400 yards. Par 5s are more than 500 yards and Par 3s are 120-160 yards. The fairway is well-maintained and manicured. If you can see your ball on the fairway, it will be easy to take your 2nd or 3rd shot to the green. However, if you go inside the green side bunker, taking out takes a lot of skill as the majority are very deep. The greens are very fast and I had a lot of 3 putts. Watch out for your chips as the ball can run past the hole and you'll see yourself putting another 10-20 ft. We enjoyed the course and had a lot of fun playing. We paid $160 including the cart. The pace of the play was good. We're done within 4 hours. The golf cart also has a GPS that tells you the yardage and the hole layout. I will come back here again if I get invited again.

Stunning course. Conditions were great. Greens are quick but run true. Never seen tee boxes so pure in my life. If you can get in and play do it!

This review is for the driving range. Very nicely maintained driving range (with actual grass) and friendly staffs. There is a small putting area, water filling station, and clubs cleaning box. $14 for 100 balls (callaway or taylor made range balls) for the most part, no wait for a bay. It gets hot when the weather is warm - bring a hat.

I've been coming out on this course with my dad (a Stanford alum) since I was a little girl, so it has a special place in my heart. Not only is it a place filled with great memories, but it's also one of the best courses I've ever had the privilege of playing. Stanford Golf Course is surrounded by beautiful, natural landscape and although it's near busy roads and neighborhoods, it is relatively quiet. Playing this course this past Sunday was such a special experience, given that Tiger had just won the Masters! This course was recently redone at about the same time as the Stanford driving range if I'm not mistaken. Some of the bunkers and traps have been moved and resized, but for the most part it is the same course I've always known. The ratings have changed, as has par for the course: Cardinal: 73.6 / 138 Par 70 Black: 71.1 / 128 Par 70 White: 69.2 / 122 Par 70 White: 74.0 / 132 Par 71 Blue: 71.5 / 129 Par 71 The greens were a bit dry (in mid-April), but that's pretty normal; they get greener as the season progresses. All trees on the fairways are immaculately trimmed and cared for, the fairways are beautiful and clear of debris, and the views are tough to beat. As an added bonus, during the month of April, guests are 1/2 off! If you know someone who is a member, I would highly recommend playing at Stanford. It's a beautiful, well-designed, meticulously cared for golf course in a great location.

Amazing time here for our annual golf tournament raising funds for a great cause. The staff here is top notch. The course is gorgeous. The food and the wine are excellent. We had an amazing time here every year.

I have on a mission to explore, learn, and try new things. So far so good! One of the things I wanted to do was learn to golf. I have never hit a golf ball in my life and my friend from Menlo Park took me to this golf driving range to practice. Apparently this is the old practice grounds for Tiger Woods. My friend grew up in an affluent city and is very familiar with this sport that targets towards those who, for the lack of better words, are rich. So he knows a thing or two about golfing. Unfortunately, it has been quite a while since he has been at a golf driving range. When we entered, the man was very curt with his answers. His demeanor wasn't too friendly and seemed a bit irate. However, regardless of his tone with us, we were cordial with him. So his attitude changed to a more relaxed one and at the very end was helpful. The prices seemed reasonable, although I lack any sources for comparison. $12 for 100 balls seemed very reasonable to me, as it provided more than an hour's worth of entertainment. Also, since I didn't have any clubs of my own and couldn't borrow my friend's (he's 6'1 ... it's not going to work), they had clubs for me to borrow for no additional charge! Note - you don't have to pay at the register, you can just go to the ball dispensing machine to pay. This is probably standard at many golfing ranges but then again, I wouldn't know. I'm a newbie. So finally, we ended up at the driving course and my first hit was very successful. The consequential hits, not so much. However, I was being taught by a great teacher and ended up having some nice drives. Overall, the course provided what I needed. A clean, well-organized, reasonably priced place to hit a few golf balls and bust some balls.

Having played this golf course more than 50 times in the past 20 years, I feel convicted in offering my highest rating for this golf course. This isn't about the amenities, or the food or anything but the golf course itself. The reason this course is so great is the layout of the holes. Truly, not another course I'm familiar with requires a player to have a complete all-around game, from tee to green. There are some great driving holes, while other holes require placement and good course management. The greens are fair yet challenging. The course has elevation change, but nothing extreme. Several of the holes require a carry over the creek that winds it's way though the course, which creates risk/reward decisions. It's a fun, fair, and very beautiful course. Challenging too. Michelle Wie won't be disappointed.

This is one of my favorite golf courses I've ever played at. It is located on Stanford University's campus, on the west side. It is one of the best deals of students ($25) ever, although it is a little more expensive ($100+) for alumni and Stanford affiliates. Highlight holes: 1) Par 5 - nice straight hole over a ridge (fun start) 5) Par 4 - really fun dogleg right (great for fades) 6) Par 4 - hardest hole of them all. Has a little creek you have hit over so you either need a strong drive or really great 2nd shot. 8) Par 3 - basically hitting from the top of a mountain down onto the green 11) Par 4 - shortest par 4 on the course (birdie opportunity?!) 14) Par 3 - tricky par 3 (over the valley with a big hill in the background) 18) Par 4 - make sure you look out for the golden gate in the background on a clear day! Total: Par 70 (5,4,3,3,4,4,5,3,4,4,4,4,4,3,4,5,3,4) Getting a tee time isn't too tough - for students just call 3 days ahead and you should have no problem.

Have to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I asked about using the hitting bays to demo clubs, and a nice young lady got me set up and even said she would build clubs with shafts to my specs to try! Wasn't expecting that level of service. Unfortunately, she had to excuse herself and another gentleman took over who wasn't as accommodating in offering to build to my specs. Got to demo three of the hottest new drivers and 3 woods with no sales pressure in their state of the art golf simulators. Although, I didn't buy, I was impressed with the service and selection. Then I began walking around the store and saw they have a Trackman practice area that people can sign up for as regulars and a good amount of clothing and accessories with many popular retail brands (Nike, Adidas, etc) and lesser known but quality looking apparel on sale for reasonable ($50 and under, not $100-150 on sale) prices. As a regular shopper at the Golf Mart Superstore in South City/San Bruno, I would day this store is nicer but doesn't have as many used clubs, esp. from top brands like Taylormade, Callaway, Ping, etc., to choose from. As an avid golfer interested in improving my game, I will be back soon to try out more of the latest equipment or perhaps take advantage of their practice program or free fitting service, too!!

I've bought a putter from them before, and their putter selection is massive. A lot of brand new, demo, and pre-owned options for all budgets. Pricing is typically set by the manufacturers so it's comparable to other stores and online. However, they have so many hitting bays to try out clubs before you buy, and they even offer lessons which I think is cool. What I love about this store is that the clothing and shoe selection is probably one of the biggest in the Peninsula. They carry all the major brands and have plenty of racks with sales, just takes some browsing around to find a hidden gem. The only drawback to this store was that the selection of pre-owned irons and clubs left a bit too be desired. Also the pricing on the pre-owned clubs they have a really high, so not much value. I've seen videos online of people finding hidden gems, so I tried my luck but failed. Either way, as a golfer, this is a great place to browse and try out golf clubs and grab gear. Plenty of parking as well.

I chose Palo Alto Fit because of its location and one-on-one training rather than a group class at, let's say, 24H Fitness. Before coming here, I didn't know how to use any of the machines, how to target certain muscle groups, or how to set reasonable goals while keeping track of my progress. However, through each session, I've learned how to use these machines and set goals for the week (especially regarding diet and lifestyle choices) so when I go about my day to day or do workouts on my own, I know how to determine an appropriate goal, workout weight, or set up a machine properly for myself. I knew I needed someone to help me one-on-one to understand my areas of improvement, and when receiving help and support, I strongly value consistency in my mentor/coach/tutor, which it seems PAF also values. I've been able to reschedule sessions (even last minute) while keeping my same coach, which is another point of appreciation! PAF starts you off with a free fitness assessment where they take your in-body scan and you talk about your goals. Every 4 weeks, you do another scan, and it's been great seeing and physically feeling the results!! It's been about 6 months now, and I only go once a week due to finances and scheduling, but it's worth every penny and I genuinely look forward to my workouts with my coach. My coach, Coach Joshua Villagomez, is well-versed in physiology and genuinely listens to me during the workouts and when I say I want to focus on a specific thing for my body. He pushes me to grow stronger and beyond the limits of what I could have ever imagined myself doing, and seeing the progress in the results has been seriously worth it. I've completed physical therapy much quicker than anticipated, and I'm now able to do more than before in terms of shoulder mobility and usage. I'm extremely grateful to him! I know everyone says their coach is the best, but he's seriously THE BEST. One thing that really helped me personally for financing this fitness journey was the flexibility for packages. They asked for the payment for the 12-week package (chose this package based on my goals and schedule) upfront. I genuinely can't afford that, but Nina (the owner) was kind enough to make a custom package that was realistically payable for me. She didn't want to turn me away because at the end of the day, health is wealth, and she helped me make that a priority. I'm not quite a gym rat yet, maybe just gym gerbil, but I'm excited to continue my health journey with my coach and PAF! -- Other things to note: - lockers, showers, small microfiber towels provided - I've even borrowed workout gloves when I felt like my hands were hurting from lifting the bar (an unfamiliar thing for me) - everything is kept extremely clean; it even smells clean all the time - water fountain inside - very well temperature-controlled (it could be 10° or 100° outside, but the inside is a good room temp) and good air flow - high ceilings - natural light - parking is easy (lot behind the building, street parking, and city garage across the street)
