It's no wonder that this company went out of business-my guess is they probably scammed a few people out the door-from my experience they probably took the money from a job and just went out of business-this is literally the worst business that I've ever dealt with in my entire life in any form or fashion-I've just been too busy to leave a review but last year they did what ended up being almost an $40,000 job that probably should have cost half of that- I also had to hire other people to fix what they did incorrectly-they said it would take them 10 days to do the job. It took them four months. Mike is a confrontational person. You can tell. Just read the reviews and then read his responses to all the reviews. He does nothing but make excuses. We actually caught Alexis, his wife, in a lie. Mic was on speakerphone and said that she told my wife something and my wife just happened to be there -she literally lied about what she told my wife -When she first came out to us and sold the job, they went heavy on the military story and how they're a family run business. As soon as I start having problems with them, I started looking at the reviews and if you could look anywhere.-google, yelp, Facebook-- literally everywhere you go they have 90% one star reviews and nothing but complaints-the great part is Mike either doesn't care anymore because he's out of business (which was obvious that he would be out of business), or he will read this and leave some lame ridiculous response that is a complete lie. I encourage anybody to read his response. Read all of his other responses to, and it's obvious who the common denominator is. Despite what Stanger says, we stand by our review. We are having our patio redone by another landscaper, who has done excellent work for us in the past, & who we should have hired in the first place. So much for saving $. You get what you pay for. I do also note we are not the only bad review for them; there are multiple others. Despite what Mr. Stanger says, communication w/ them was soo poor we did not want to deal w/ them anymore. This photo was taken immediately after Stranger landscaping finished laying rock and trimming plants in my front and backyard. They also attended to our quarterly yard maintenance. Mike's crew are friendly, courteous and professional. We've used Strangers landscaping for 4 years now. They designed our backyard shortly after our home was built and we couldn't be happier 4 years later. As this photo shows (my house is on the right), the workers did an excellent job of making sure all trimmings were properly disposed of. They were respectful of my neighbors yard and made sure the berm between our yards was left intact, as clearly seen in the photo. Beware!!! Stanger landscaping company is a very dishonest company. We made a big mistake signing with them. They asked for 65% down and to pay the remainder upon completion. I did not want to sign up with them at first because the wife seemed weird. She kept hounding me to sign the contract with them. I should have went with my gut feeling.She pressured me to sign up with them so they can order the material right away. I specified that i wanted the job to be completed within a month because i have children diagnosed with Autism and playing outside is good for them. She reassured me that her company can complete the job within a week(which is a lie, i later found out that they had signed contracts with other people in our neighborhood early spring which they did not start anything in their backyard).We sign the contract the first week of April. We gave them $12000. They finally placed the pavers about 4 months later after we contacted the ROC. They demanded more money after installing the pavers which needs to be corrected. They also threatened to abandon our job if we didnt give them more money.Now we have to go to court. Please be careful with this company. My neighbors have the same issue with them. They also don't want to give other customers their money back after they cancel because its been months since they signed a contract with them and they still have not started their project. i wish someone warned us about them. read more

They put in a walkway for us. Looked great at first. They do not compact ground so after 2 years one side caved in. My husband fixed it. Now three years later some pavers in middle of walkway are showing no d, by as much as 3/4". My husband will fix that too. We contracted with them in July of 2023. Our check was picked up from our builder and cashed immediately. We had to continuously make contact in order to get work scheduled. Our wall was put up by September however we still have issues with the workmanship and my husband is just fixing on his own. The driveway that was also contracted did not get finished until March of 2024. Absolutely horrendous communication with their customers. read more

Beware of these people - after the first interactions (which were fine!) suddenly we had no communication and we were accused of being the ones at fault for their lack of communication and follow through. Update & response to the Stanger's "rebuttal": What a joke. If you are, as you claim to be, so honest and ethical, your reply naturally begs the question, "So, where is my refund?" It has been almost 2 months since we terminated our agreement and never in that time, despite repeated inquiries, have you acknowledged when you plan to pay us our deposit back. That is why we had to take legal action against you, which we warned you in advance we would do if you didn't respond. And since you haven't in fact refunded our money, your reply merely communicates to the world that you are a liar and can't be trusted. There are only 2 explanations for your behavior: (1) you don't have the money (So, where did my $9K go?), or (2) you have the money and are purposefully choosing not to repay us. Neither is a good look for you nor very reassuring to prospective customers reading this. You may have been in business for 19 years, but the past is the past. You may have been a responsible business person at one point in time, but you aren't acting like one now. Do the right thing, be true to your word, pay up, and will acknowledge this in a future post. read more

This is an update. After taking advantage of me after my husband died was bad enough. In my original post it is as everyone else found out take money, do a crap job, and then communication stops. So here we are a little over a year from when they finished after taking 10 months to finish the original job. Since then the deck has had to be redone because all of their paperwork has come out, there was no silica sand anywhere, the place where the pool drains are I found out that the company that did the paver work should have replaced them plus there's huge gaps now around the pavers. They replaced the tiles around the pool and did not put in any silicone or whatever they use above the tiles. It's just concrete and the concrete is chipping out and that needs to be replaced. He got $17,000 out of me to do a horrendous job use inexperienced workers And a year later I have to pay for all the mess ups they did. It's not surprising. They have a C at the Better Business Bureau. When I spoke to an attorney and showed him what my yard look like before and the damage they did to the flagstone that they said wasn't their fault when it was, he told me I should sue for damages on the work. I've got a little while and haven't decided we're still checking to see how bad the pavers are around my pool. Stay away from these people. I hope everyone reads these reviews because he just does it again and again. Just awful.! read more

I had been wanting to do an upgrade to my back yard for quite a few years. Finally talked to a number of companies and decided to select Stangers. They listened to my ideas, offered suggestions and made my vision come to life. As a woman sometimes I get intimidiated by construction workers but the true consideration that was given was great. The workers kept the workspace clean, they did not instrude on our personal space while working and got the job done in a timely manner. I called Mike Stanger two weeks ago and he came out to give a rough estimate of work required to install a new door and vents on my built-in grill island. He said it would be a few hundred dollars and that I'd have a formal estimate in 24 hours. He said he'd send a mason over to do the work. I also reached out to him about doing my weekly landscape maintenance. What I got in return was no estimate and radio silence. If a business is too busy to do a job then it shouldn't bother coming out and should have declined the work up front. Not professional behavior and not a dependable person.
