Clean and organized bookshelves in the kids section
    Steven G.

This review is for the children's section and, boy, they have a Great children's section! Lots of tables and books for everyone; clean aisles and organized bookshelves; They also have a computer section with several computers for kids to use learning programs. Employees are courteous and very helpful. We have 4 kids (ages 2-6) and they all love it here. We'll be back!

Just want to say how nice it was to visit the library on Friday. I've been a frequent visitor all my life and plan to continue as one!

Ask the Community - Stanislaus County Library

Just moved to Modesto, does the library have self-service copying and printing services?

They do have a copy machine, but I would just go to Kinkos or FedEx.

Does anyone know which book drop to use? There's 2 in the front by the entrance but they are both locked!!!! The slot says pull but it won't open. I know they are closed now but shouldn't there be a book drop at every library?!

The book drop is at the curb. It can be a little tricky to reach the deposit door thing from inside a small car but you should just be able to drive up and drop off your books there. It's a big brick thing right next to the bus stop on the left side…

They have used and brand new books, but buying used that are still in in mint condition and low price is amazing. We were told that they accept used books of any kind and will get a lifetime credit that never expires. Once you get a credit and buys a used book, the price will be less 50% from the written price. This is an awesome deal. We will surely come back here.

They just don't have too many bookstores left like this one. As the name suggests, you can bring your gently used books in and they will keep a record of them, and you will receive a discount of roughly half off of whatever you decide to buy in exchange for bringing in your old books. This turns out to be a great value considering the good condition and broad variety of the books that they carry. We can always find something good to read, and the price is definitely always easy on the pocketbook. The lovely people who work here are very well informed. I was looking for a classic by Pearl S Buck, and she knew exactly where it was located in the store. I have confidence in these guys, and I know that I can check with them before I go look elsewhere. A must see for any avid reader or bibliophile.

Who doesn't love libraries?!…read more This library is our favorite! It is kept clean, organized, and have a wide variety of children's books to choose from. Staff and volunteers are always helpful. As other libraries, this branch also offer self-checkouts and easy drop offs. They they also offer automatic extension for borrowed items and you can also put books on hold if you are waiting on a specific one. I also had a privilege of using one of the conference rooms with other mom friends to help our kids with their homework. Parking is ample and is located in downtown Brentwood, so you can also shop, eat, play and walk around after. If you also want to support the library, one way is to check out their second hand books on the second floor or donate books as well.

Not only is it location in a very busy area that would make it tough to visit if you aren't able to walk or use public transportation (parking on the street is metered & in high demand and the parking lot is beyond small), but the location itself is quite small. It feels almost like a satellite branch than an actual library. I guess it would be good for just working, but that's about it. It didn't look like it had much of a selection. Finally, I want to believe it was a one off, but the librarian who helped me was the first in over a dozen library visits who wasn't beyond friendly and helpful. She just seemed to not want to be there that day. It just capped off a disappointing trip.
