This place used to be one of our favorite go-to restaurants. Service was great and the food, especially the award winning Stanley Cheeseburger, was often first on the list. Then they decided to remodel with a new low maintenance, impersonal self serve beer station and everything changed. The personality and local charm the place once had is completely gone and now, it's one step up from a cafeteria. And the service has gone from exceptional to mirroring the robotic and detached functionality of the beer station. The staff can often be seen standing around enjoying "social hour" while doing as little as possible to service or check in on their customers. Ultimately, we felt we would've been better off being handed an i-pad, placing the order ourselves and grabbing our own food from the kitchen. Such a shame to see a place go downhill so quickly. There are better options with better service in Stapleton and my suggestion is not to waste your time. We won't be going there again and if things don't change and the service doesn't improve, Stanley Beer Hall won't survive. read more

The tap system has been upgraded!! It gives you detail while pouring, and you can get a detailed receipt on the way out!. Very cool. The waitress and. Checkout guy were both very helpful. I still miss that smoked brisket dish from before. read more

Great way to buy your beers/wines etc...Food is pretty decent, prices are above average we thought. Not very clean, TV's and Cable boxes, ventilation system and everything above your head caked with dust and dusty webs. This seems like a no-brainer fix to us. read more

Yes! This is our new favorite place to eat in Stapleton! Bright and modern, the food was excellent: tasty, plentiful and good quality ingredients. We had the sliced ham plate (prosciutto from Virginia), mussels and frites and fried chicken sandwich with beer and wine; All was great. Geez....where to begin. This place was mediocre at best when I was there last (before this last 'renovation'). Good heavens...what where they thinking? You have to check in at the front (because of course there isn't a bar anymore) and wait in line to give them your credit card and get a card to pour your own beer. So this is a 'beer hall' but no server to give you beer recommendations? Nope! Instead you walk back and forth reading a tiny description of the beer and use your card to pour it. Oh and god forbid it be busy and you're trying to navigate reading the descriptions above the beer in between the many others trying to do the same. I ordered a salad and my friends wanted a bite. We literally all took a bite of my salad at the same time and spit it out and in unison said, "the lettuce if frozen!" Yuck! Good luck getting your sever back, I had to hunt the server down. It was like he didn't believe me and it took my friends chiming in. He removed the plate and another came out and this server said, "yeah, it's because the plates are super cold". Um...no. It's 80+ degrees outside in the first place and lettuce doesn't freeze because you put it on a cold plate. $12 for a salad that I make better at home and trying to convince the wait staff that it's frozen? Not cool! As if you haven't basically done all the serving yourself, you have to go BACK up to the front, wait in line in order to pay your bill. This concept might at well be a cafeteria style "restaurant" ( I mean beer hall without any staff!) My friends say they have been here frequently and have never had a meal that there wasn't a major issue. The only reason why anyone comes here is so their kids can run around outside within eyesight. I used to love the Stanley Beer Hall. I had great conversations with bar tenders, learned about beer, amazing food, and lots of fun. Then everything changed. This new self service model is quite odd. After the remodel I wondered in and couldn't find the hostess/host to get seated. I walked around for about 5 minutes and didn't even find an employee. Finally someone appeared at a counter by the door and there was a mad dash and a long line. After waiting in line for 10 minutes while one person tried to help a lot of people, including angry entitled parents who demanded to cut because it was bed time (I to have kids, but don't use them to cut in line), it was my turn. I asked what was going on and they explained it's all self service now. I just give them my credit card and they give me a beer card and can get set service beer and mixed drinks. I asked if there was still food and they said same as before. So I gave it a shot. Well, it wasn't so great. Took a long time to get service due to what seemed like one wait person for the whole restaurant. The food which used to be great was awful. Frozen French fries. Over cooked dry burger (didn't they win the Denver burger battle last year?). Wait staff never once came back after my food was plopped down. It seriously took over an hour to get food. Also it cost $17 for a bad burger. I frequent Elway's steak house, their much higher quality, much better burger, costs far less. The whole self service thing also left a lot to be desired. The worst part, no more bar tenders to talk to and recommend beer. Just pour it your self. Charged by the ounce? I'm sorry, but most of your patrons are not experts in fluid dynamics. I'd rather be served a flight or a pint. So I tried a few beers. Three to be exact, about 1/3 of a glass each. My own flight! But no way to know how much that would cost. I figured a pint total, maybe $10. Well I was sure wrong. After waiting in line yet again, my tab was $40. $40 for a pint and a bad burger. No breakdown of what I was charged for either. Just a total. So I am not even sure if it was correct. I should have just gone to a fine dining restaurant. Then there is the tip. Yep, the options were 18%, 20%, 22% or More. Really? I served my self. I had to wander around and find my own ketchup. I poured my own beer. It took an hour to get served. Does the tip come as cash back to me since I basically waited on my myself? Trying not to be a social deviant I hit 20% and left feeling sick both figuratively and literally. That dry burger felt like a brick in my stomach and my wallet took quite a hit. Love it. I've been a few times already and I think this is exactly what we've been waiting for in the area. Great food, good beers & and a cool unique atmosphere. I think it's going to be even better when the weather is warm and they can open up the huge outdoor spaces they have planned. It will feel twice as big at that point. The food is amazing. We've tried a lot of the menu items at this point and we love the fact that it's not just hamburgers and hot dogs. While on vacation in Denver we met friends here on June 18th, on their recommendation. They had been there before the new serve yourself system. I would NEVER return to this place. The serve yourself system meant the actual servers spent most of their time telling us what they would NOT do. " No I can't get you water you get it yourself inside." or " I just showed you how to get a beer you need help again?" or " Sorry our system is having issue so all the beer if foaming, come back in a few minutes and try again." The tab for liquor was outrageous and priced as if we had been served not as if we getting up and doing it ourselves. The food was mediocre at best. The famous cheeseburger was two supper thin over cooked patties with standard out of the bag frozen fries. Acceptable at $5 or $6 not $14. I doubt that this place will be here next year, so save yourself the time and go eat and drink some place where the pricing is reasonable and the servers really serve you. read more

Good selection of beer but the beer was foamy. The excuse from the waiter was we were using a tulip glass instead of a pint. Um...no. The service was HORRIBLE. The girl at the front was rude and our waiter acted annoyed that we wanted to eat. I ordered the "award winning" burger. If this is the best burger in Denver then I hate to eat another one made in Denver. It wasn't terrible, but definitely worth "best" award. Don't go here if you hate chaos! The seat yourself system creates a very chaotic atmosphere. Staff at check in tries to convince you to tip in advance to avoid the check out line when you are done eating. Why would I tip before my service?? The wait staff does not seem to know who is coming and going adding to excessive dirty tables and slow service. Customers have to stand in the aisle stalking out tables that may be leaving making hard to navigate to the pour your own beer wall as well as making it uncomfortable to enjoy your meal with people breathing down your neck waiting for you to leave. Food was good but overpriced. Beer selection was just okay and very overpriced. I had to go back and request a detailed receipt to see how much the beer cost us in the end. Have yet to eat here, though the food looked great. Love the ability to sample different beers/ciders/wine in whatever quantity you wish via your personal key card. Also, the ability to put food and drinks directly on your personal tab makes going with a big group a breeze (and avoids the headache of a 12 person split bill). Atmosphere is fun and lively. My only suggestion would be to add a few more wines and ciders for the non-beer folks. read more

First time here , went to the Arts Festival and decided to stop and have lunch. We sat outside and it was very enjoyable. It has good shade and the service was great. The staff seems to work together to make sure you get what you need. The industry needs more of this style of work force. We started with apps the pretzel bites and green chili tater tots. Nothing exotic but it was hot and tasty. The green chili was very good. Now to my favorite part the self pouring taps.... freaking genius from the venues view point.. why do I say that? Because people cannot pour beer to save their lives. I bet 90% of the people were walking around with 40-50% foam and the rest beer. So who's fault is that? The venue ? The consumer ? They have a great selection of beers and ciders. Many were local breweries. Four of us had apps lunch and beers and we walked out at $120 with tip. That's not too bad. I would come back again. I am reading peoples reviews ranting about having to give your ID and Credit card and they give a terrible review... what modern day bar/restaurant in their right mind would not cover their ass and make sure your of age to Drink and your credit card also matches your ID. I will take that. It is a cool building to walk around in , next time Denver Biscuit will be my stop. read more

My first time hear, and I heard they've changed their menu for the better. We ordered a chicken french dip, adult grilled cheese, and sides of tots smothered in pork green chili. This is not health food, but wowz those smothered green chili tots were amazing. The set up is a little unique - you check in at the front, give them your card, and you get cards to use for draft beer. Someone greets you where you find a spot to sit and takes your food order, and you help yourself to beer, margaritas, water, etc. Very large selection of beers and a decent food menu. This isn't gourmet but it's good and it's fun and a great place to go with a group of friends. read more

One and done. Stopped by in mid-afternoon on April 6. My first (and last) visit. A friend and I ordered burgers. Mine was a blue cheese with candied bacon. Hers was a green chili, honey goat cheese and bacon item. She asked for bacon on the side. I asked for lettuce and tomato (does not come with anything but meat, cheese and bacon normally!). I didn't get the garnish requested. She didn't get bacon on the side. My coleslaw was tasteless. Didn't even taste of raw cabbage, or anything. Almost no dressing, no zing. Didn't get the requested ketchup and had to ask again. The tables were just stocked with napkins and cutlery. No sweetener for iced tea. I guess copious beer consumption might make this place palatable but I won't give it the chance. Service was slow and the place was not busy either. read more

This place used to be great. Not so much now. They revamped the menu and got rid of the best salad. It was made with super fresh lettuce, dates, crunchy fried onions and a delicious dressing...oh and almonds. Now they have a Cobb salad. You can get a Cobb salad at any restaurant in town. Yuck! Another thing, what happened to the glass dishes? Food is now served in a plastic basket with paper.... something you would find at a fast food restaurant. Oh... and they don't have nice cloth napkins anymore either. Same old paper ones that other not so nice eating establishments have. The Stanley Beer Hall has really gone DOWN hill! I won't be back! Well. The wait was not worth it. Why did they change? Serve yourself beer Serve yourself water. Set your own silverware. Yet prices still extremely high. Food quality was marginal at best. Not sure why they had so many people working there when you basically did everything yourself. Disappointed and ripped off doesn't even begin to describe experience. Consistently dirty glasses - lip stick stains, soap scum, etc. Poor beer selection - most IPAs are an abomination anyway, infusing fruit in it should be a misdemeanor. Then when you check out they don't provide an itemization and ask for a percent tip. Why do they expect me to tip on the most expensive part of the meal that I served myself? I wanted to like this place more than I did... I honestly liked the bar better before. The pour it yourself concept is fun but a bunch of the beers we poured were all foam and I'm not really into paying for foam. I own a beer bar so I know how to pour a beer, that isnt the problem. Sometimes beers just pour foamy but here you pay for that unless you make a big deal about it. Also they had more beers on deck than on tap. We only ate apps and they were all good! I don't know where to begin. We've wanted to try this place for a while because the smell of the smoking meat was intoxicating. A beautiful Sunday night and the place was busy. The waiter tells us wait times are longer than usual because the kitchen was working with a new system. Well, an hour later we were told ours was in line to be the next meal served. Another ten minutes went by before the brisket and flank steak arrived. We assume it was probably hot when it came off the grill, but it was only room temperature when it got to our table. We didn't send it back because we didn't want to risk waiting even longer. One would think that if it was true that the kitchen was working the kinks out of a new system, they would do something to make it up to their customers who were held hostage. Maybe send the manager from table to table to apologize and explain. Maybe offer an appetizer at a reduced price. Anything would have been better than the options they chose. Will definitely not return to a place that showed such disregard for their clients. read more

Now there are things I really like about Stanley Beer Hall. They have a good selection of beers that actually taste great, they did a nice job at the warehouse/modern style decor, and they have attentive servers. The big drawback for me is the price of their food. Since they have a kitchen you can't bring food in, which is unfortunate as so many niche eateries with outstanding reputation have and are popping up in the rest of the Stanley Marketplace. I've tried their food twice, and both times I thought it was good, but too expensive for what it was, the value just wasn't there. Also almost all of their items on the app menu hover between $8-$10 so it's hard to order a good "beer snack" without feeling a little gouged. They do have a few specials throughout the week, but when you live about twenty minutes away, it's hard to justify the trip on a weekday when rush hour traffic could double or triple that drive. If they'd let me bring in food from the other restaurants I'd probably be more likely to come though, because then I could have a fantastic beer, while eating food from one of my favorite restaurants, which is what I thought the design of the Stanley Marketplace was in the first place... read more

Came to the place because it won the 'Battle Of The Burger' competition held recently and for some unearthly reason good burgers are hard to find in Denver. Place has a nice, laid back vibe. I had my two starving teenagers with me and we all ordered these so-called amazing double cheese burgers. We expected some sort of gourmet burger, with fresh meat and quality bread, but what they gave us was just a tad above a McDonald's. Had that nice, chemical taste that is hard to wash out of your mouth. Cheap buns. Cheese out of a tube. Pretty bad, and when my burger loving teenagers can't stomach the whole thing and left half, then it has to be bad. read more

Been here many times, sat at both the bar and in the dining room. I always feel like the service in the dining room is lacking and that was definitely the case during my last visit. Food always takes way too long and drinks take forever. The quality of the food seems alright most of the time but the service on the floor is certainly lacking. Went here the 1st week they opened, but left after reading menu. $39 for a duck for 2 dinner... peace! Finally rolled into today after all local breweries packed. Food was good, but over-priced for a brew hall. High gravity beers were tasty (Oh My Quad) and priced right. However, most all other beers were priced around high grav beers. I don't mind paying a lot for a beer that's brewed internationally, but c'mon... $10 for a draft! Seriously, you gonna charge around that for a Station 26 beer?? That brewery is literally 2 miles down the road!!! On average, beers overpriced. Note to owners: go visit Lowry and take notes on their prices. Match them. This is Stapleton. We make less than them & will never be able to afford you as a local watering hole. Service was awful. Only save was the chef who came out to chat when our food arrived. Some Irish guy that was pretty cool. Our server ignored us pretty much the whole time. I told a busser we wanted another beer. He said he'd grab someone (we're sitting at the bar with 5 people around). 15 minutes later, I tell him we're still waiting, plus the guy next to me sat 20 minutes ago and no one has even recognized him. Shorty thereafter, someone came to ask what we want and I said get him first, pointing to the guy yet to be acknowledged. I haven't felt so unwelcomed in a bar in my life. Sorry to bother you, but I thought you wanted to earn so money. Basically, I like the selection, but too expensive. You could win people over with great service, but currently you are far from good. I came to Stanley Hall on Sunday as it was close to Station 26 where I was at enjoying their Bluegrass Brunch. Stanley Beer Hall was pretty empty when we arrived. We were seated quickly at a table outside (at our request). We were promptly greeted by our server and got some recommendations. One of the things he suggested was the VIP Poutine. We ordered that along with beers. One thing that was very quirky and in my opinion unnecessary was that they bring the silverware in a tool box. It was cumbersome and felt really out of place. It was also at this time that the umbrella at our outside table started spinning due to the high wind. A busser stopped by and tried to tighten it down...more on that later. Once the Poutine came out we were bummed to see a lack of gravy as well as sparse meat. Honestly it looked like french fries with about 3oz of meat haphazardly thrown in a bowl. We were disenchanted to say the least. We then ordered our food. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich at the recommendation of our server. Once it came out the chicken sandwich was barely breaded and forgettable. At that point the manager came out and we chatted about our displeasure about the poutine. He mentioned that it was a common issue that has been brought up by various tables. There was no mention of fixing the issue. After a while the manager left and we continued with our food. It was at that time that a high gust of wind caused the neighboring empty table's umbrella to fly off and hit one of the servers walking by with a plate of food and almost hitting on of the members of my table and my child sitting next to me. Needless to say we were freaked out but were brought inside to finish our lunch. No one was hurt but we were really turned off by this. The manager came by and apologized. I mentioned that seeing as how bad the poutine was and that we were almost impaled by an umbrella maybe he should comp the poutine. He did at my request. The fact I had to say something was a bit odd. All in all the entire experience was lackluster and uninspired. You could tell that this place has some issues to work through. I'd give it a 3.5 with qualifications. This is an odd concept that is difficult to execute. Their unique feature is they offer the customer the option to pour their own beer,wine, cider and cocktails from a tap system. This is fine. Maybe attractive during happy hour if you want to reduce waiting for a drink. Issue 1 is it is they start a running tab and provide you with a card that you use to authorize each tap before you pour. Explaining the concept verbally (no signage) takes some time at the hostess stand. They'd like you to preauthorize with a predetermined tip so you may just return your beer card on the way out without knowing the total you spent. There is an option to wait in line, again, to verify your total and apply a tip. If you don't pay attention, you will end up paying a gratuity on the beer you served yourself! Food is served and pretty quick. My friend had a French dip that was more bountiful than flavorful. I had an unusual meal of fish and chips made with Scottish salmon. I'd never seen salmon fish and chips. It was very good and served with remoulade. Both meals came with enough tater tots for three people. So...only a partial review. I might go back for the fish and chips. read more

So the greatly anticipated Stanley Beer Hall is finally here. Stapleton residents have been waiting for this establishment for what seems like forever. The idea of a slightly upscale beer hall seems appealing enough, but I have to say that after visiting I find myself conflicted. Bottom line, you don't get much for what you pay for. My wife, daughter and I got 4 beers, the poutine, wings, Brussels sprouts, chicken sandwich and dessert and we paid over $100.00 with tip. The 3 appetizers were so insubstantial that we needed to get the sandwich. The food was tasty, but the slightly upscale typical bar fare in small portions is not really worth the price. As someone who lives less than a 10 minute walk from the Stanley marketplace, I will not be able to afford to make this place my local watering hole. read more

Convenience and the outdoor areas are the best things about this place. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed in the outdoor area, which is a deterrent in dog-friendly Stapleton. The food is pretty good pub grub but overpriced and the beer taps often don't pour correctly, which mean you get stuck paying for a lot of foam or spillage--or you have to wait for your foam to settle into a half pint. :/ On the bright side, the staff is pretty friendly and there are healthy eating options that are solid. The kale and the beet salads are both good. Outdoor space is nice and like the rest of Stanley, this place is kid friendly. The biggest negative (which I probably am not weighing enough) is that you have to check in and out at the front. This creates a lengthy bottleneck at high traffic times, which is a HUGE deterrent in going. They could stand to fix this, and they'd have a solid 4-5 stars from me! read more
