We had them clean 2 couches and 7 chairs. The only pieces that look good are the couches. Whatever they did to the chairs made them look worse than when they started. Not one of the chairs is clean, and they only cleaned the front of the chairs not the sides or backs. They knew we weren't happy, sent someone else out who said he would escalate it to the bosses because he agreed it was not a good job, but we never heard back. Please do yourself a favor and use a local company or anyone else. Had them come out to clean tile and carpet before we moved into our new place. Douglas, my first cleaner, came out and was friendly until I turned down the $1,000 grout sealer. He then told me he was unable to do my tile because it had a "special coating on it" that would ruin the tile if he cleaned it. He became angry when I told him I didn't see it and didn't understand why he couldn't do it. He did not speak to me when collecting money and walked out without saying another word to me. Called customer service and they said they would send another tech out as a "courtesy" "Free of charge" to look at the tile and do it if possible. Had my second cleaner come out, Nicholas. He did a GREAT job, really put in the extra effort and was SO impressed with him. However, I was told I owed them $400 when he finished. What? His supervisor, Evan, was non-compromising and even when it was confirmed that she did indeed tell me it would be free, offered me 20% off and said they cannot give me the service for free with no explanation whatsoever. They acknowledged the error but were not willing to do anything about it to resolve the issue besides threaten to send me to collections. Beware! When you are quoted a price for cleaning they don't inform you of extras they add on that just about doubles the price. My total was about double what I was expecting to pay. When I complained, they said the tech told me of the extras for protecting and deodorizing. That is just BS. And don't get friendly with the tech because they will just take advantage of you. Always check reviews first. No value, just price gouging. If I would have done my homework, I would have seen many more stories. I would like to update this review. After posting this review I contacted the local office responsible. They were very nice although it did take them a week to get back out. They did re-clean the carpet at no charge. And it was fine. So only three stars. It shouldn't have required a second call. And a week seems to me a bit long to respond. I I almost ended up cleaning the carpet myself but I simply didn't have the time. But I am grateful they came back and re-did the job. read more

We asked them to clean the floor in our kitchen and didn't do a great job. A lot of the grout was still dirty, some tiles have visible spots from where they cleaned but it doesn't look like they took off all the dirt. They said it was because our tiles were so poorly maintained. Even if that was the case, if they were unable to do a proper/complete job we should not have been charged the full $285. I was contacted by Customer Complaint Specialist Darrell Franklin from the corporate office on October 9, 2020 after writing my review. However, I totally missed that call but he did reach out to me again on Friday October 16. The message basically stated that he wanted to discuss my experience with Terry Tate and to work with me to make things better. Also, he mentioned that he had reached out to the local office regarding the up charge on the cushions but they had not responded to him. On Friday 16, they still had not responded to that ludicrous question because it was a bogus and out right LIE by Terry Tate! Lol and they are not going to respond because they would have had to explain and justify what their actions were towards Terry Tate for attempting to commit Fraud against me and because he is White and I am Black they did NOTHING! Franklin and I setup my next cleaning appointment for Saturday 17, and Joshua was my cleaning professional and he truly was polite and professional. Joshua, a Black man, confirmed that there is no charge for cushions which I already knew that and Franklin should have known this too--don't forget I placed my appointment through Customs Service via the post card I received in the mail, so if there was an increase of any kind, it would have been mentioned then! Joshua would call me over a few times for me to see the results of his cleaning. he addressed me as ma'am and explained what he was doing and the outcome of his work. The stain protection canister looked different from Tate's and it had a very distinct sound and fragrance when using it which Terry NEVER used! Now I was ready for Joshua, I had a plastic drop cloth underneath my sofa and a blue tarp underneath the chair to catch all of the wasted water from sitting on my hard wood floor. The clean up wasn't bad at all, just mist of water on the floor and not much water on the plastic. Although I still was expecting Joshua to bring in his mop to clean up the water from off the plastic so that my clean up would have been even easier. Therefore, I had to use bath towels to soak up the water from the plastic before picking them up. I was very pleased with my overall experience with Joshua and the outcome of the cleaning. The sofa and chair looked clean even while wet, but with Terry's performance it looked dirty while wet and after it dried! Again, Terry had very little cleaning solution or none at all! The reason for Four stars instead of Five stars is that when Joshua left and closed my front door he left my storm door propped open and because I keep both doors locked at all times, this is when I discovered it was propped open for the wind to catch it and rip it off their hinges! read more

Had a very bad experience today and will not use this service again. I've used this service a few years ago at the same location. I called to schedule service, the rep gave me a quote over the phone and said they had an opening and could come out today for "service" between 12-5p. I re-arranged my entire day just for a guy to show up for a walk thru quote!! Even worse, they added almost $1000 to the quote I had over the phone for the same service and the final bill was more expensive than the previous time they came even though I eliminated 2 expensive services. Even worse, I called in to complain, this rep was very nonchalant after I explained my experience. Basically told me they should have never quoted me over the phone, and I told her I just want to cancel based on the increase and me losing a day for nothing. No apology for the confusion, no apology for my funky experience, no offer to work with me on price or schedule, just "sorry about that, have a good day". Really?!! I've used Stanley at 2 office locations where I spent thousands to have floors done based on my satisfaction from the original experience. After today, I will NEVER use them again. I just had them at my house. I should have read the reviews. Never again. I have never had such an experience. 1) They cleaned around everything in the bedroom, not moving night stands or bed. Ok they state they don't move the beds so I did it myself and asked them to clean the areas under the bed and night stand. 2) They didn't do the edges because their machine doesn't reach them. Well I have had cleaners use a brush to clean the edges. No such luck here. 3) They emptied the dirty water on my driveway. 4) They asked if I was satisficed with the stairs. Again, no scrubbing involved, just the machine. I wasn't thrilled so the technician was annoyed and became combative for the rest of the visit. 5) They didn't put my couches on foam or move the items back into the rooms. Its better off that way. I wanted them out of the house. 6) They literally told me I should have just gotten new carpet on the stairs vs cleaning. I told him that it was a odd statement for a carpet cleaner to make considering cleaning is their bread and butter. He told me he makes 100k a year and could care less. WOW 7) He told me to google dirty carpet cleaning for all the the spots he couldn't get up. That I should have my ducts cleaned. WHAT??? Well in my opinion they should scrub by the base boards and clean what they can clean. Not give excuses for what they cant clean. I have no dogs, just kids and was just trying to get old carpet cleaned. My expectations weren't that high in the first place with the carpet. We maintain our house and it isn't dirty. I contacted Stanley Steemer (Bollingbrook, IL area) for a furnace duct cleaning estimate on my 2700 sq. foot two story home October 2022. The tech provided an estimate for 30 returns and registers at 800. minus a 75. "discount". The estimator opened an access panel immediately at the furnace and there was a slight layer of dust on the bottom of the main return duct that that he brushed up with a finger swipe. He said it was dirty. Another home I purchased in the past had two inches of dirt on the bottom of the return trunk line. To me that was dirty! My wife & are clean, we vacuum all rooms two to three times a week. We also keep windows closed. I also remove and wash the return grills once a year. I made an appointment for three days later. On the second day I called the Bollingbrook, IL facility again to speak with someone different for another opinion. I asked if I could just get the return lines cleaned as the supply didn't look that bad to me. I could still see the duct metal on the bottom. She said "she just takes appointments but it's best to do them all to avoid cross contamination". I was then told by the appointment taker that "it would be 2-4 days to get a response". Appointment day comes around and I never received a call. I briefed the crew on some flexible ductwork ahead of time and which upstairs returns were studs and drywall returns to avoid potential damage to the drywall. The process started. My wife was watching the upstairs process and informed me that they were only cleaning around and behind the grills, not the ducts leading down to the basement. I went upstairs, the crew was in another another room and they were again working on the grills and just behind with a blow gun at low pressure. I questioned why they weren't blowing out the return passages behind the walls all the way to the basement? The tech showed me a "before picture and he said they were clean". Thinking to myself, regardless if they were clean, I did pay for the entire home to have the ducts cleaned. Plus what about that "cross contamination" thing I was told about? The other reason I know the upstairs ducts weren't cleaned is they didn't have seventeen feet of air hose up there to go directly down to the basement trunk line. I observed the basement process and questioned if the back area was finished and I was informed yes. So I looked where the estimator said there should be holes in two elbows by the previous service because there was no way those two ducts could be properly cleaned otherwise. Well, no access holes were present. I asked how they cleaned those two ducts without holes and I was told "from the to first floor registers". Scratching my head there. There was also a couple of open holes in the trunk line that were done so I did a finger swipe test in the holes and there was still the layer of fine dust present. Neglible yes but I also felt most areas were negligible to begin with, hence the requested phone call to discuss it and maybe put this job off a couple of more years. After they left I tapped on an accessible flex duct and I heard debris rattling inside. My issues are as follows: First I think the estimator should have said that the ducts were in better shape than not. It wouldn't take much convincing for me to agree. I would have thought more of the process if he said to me they really didn't need a cleaning. I mean, the tech told me that the upstairs ducts were "clean". Second I never received a phone call to go over the prior inspection photos and discuss them with me. The price was higher than expected, especially since the second story supply and return lines weren't at least blown out down to the basement as I paid for. If they didn't "need it" then cut the price down. In fact, when the guys were leaving I asked what the charges were. He said 425. I said wow, they reduced it. He didn't understand. I reiterated the estimate was higher. He said "my mistake, it's 725." I got a new check to write the higher amount. Overall I think the process was way overpriced and after thinking about it overnight, it was inferior as all of the ducts from the upstairs weren't cleaned. Oh, and a week later from my phone call, I still didn't hear from a manager (even though one of them was on vacation) that should be plenty of time for a call back. The photos is of a basement supply duct with a light layer of dust on the bottom and a trunk line after cleaning. I have been in my home 47 years, carpets gave been cleaned many times, but this was a first using Stanley Steemer, and definitely the LAST TIME. I was shocked to learn the Stanley Steemer does not use any steam to clean your carpets, that's wht their name is STEEMER and not STEAMER. They show up and start to set up, I see a discharge hose on my lawn, I asked that that was for, they said the dirty water, I said, you are going discharge the dirty water on to my lawn outside my front door, he said yes, I said NO! So they ran the dirty water into my first floor toilet. Stanley Steemer has no recovery tank or water supply on their trucks, they hook up to your garden hose and discharge on your lawn. They use barely hot water and no chemicals. My carpet looked better before they started, my stairs were awful, young guy was trying to tell me the stairs were worn, it's just my wife and I no kids. Asked if he had a brush and some type of spray to clean the stairs, he said no, it wont help. I got a brush and some spray, I scrubbed them gently and told him to recen the stairs, they looked brand new, he didnt know what to say other than "IM GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE A NOTE ON MY INVOICE THAT SAYS YOU SPRAYED SOME CHEMICAL ON THE STAIRS AND LET THE OFFICE KNOW" !!! Unbelievable experience with the Bolingbrook Stanley Steemer. 1st time I used my credit card to pay for cleaning of a vacant property. I went there shortly thereafter and it was untouched but Stanley Steemer had been there. I had the same traffic areas with no sign of any machine imprint. I contacted Stanley Steemer and they apologized and said that the workers would be contacted and reprimanded so cleaning was rescheduled. Bottom line, after 3 scheduled appointments, 1 with a supervisor's assurance that they would do themselves, carpet was never cleaned. Finally, a refund was provided a few days ago. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with service people. Since I am not near this rental property, I left a friend to handle opening the door. They insisted that without deodorizer and protectant, I would not be happy with the job. A job that was quoted at $199 ended at $461, more than double the original quote. Be careful when dealing with cash with this company. My wife and I hired Stanley Steemer to do cleaning in Orland Park and when the bill was due the employee asked my wife for payment. Our bill was for $216 dollars. My wife asked for clarity and asked "Did you say $216 or $260?". The cleaner replied $260 so my wife tendered $260 cash to the employee. Now with their new system they no longer print receipts on site; they email them. Well of course I had set the appoinment up with my email which does not go to my wife. When I got home I asked for the receipt and my wife said they emailed the receipt to me. The only email I had was the intial email with the listed price of $216. I asked if it was $216 or was it additional since I didn't measure a hallway and she told me he collected $260. I called up and asked for an emailed receipt and that's when I realized we had been taken advantage of. My wife is from Colombia and English is not her primary language. So of course she got confused. I called up to talk to management and got the runaround from their staff. The manager is out in the field routine and he will call you back. He "Owen" finally called back after my persistence and of course he had to talk to his employees and get their side of the story which they both denied taking anything over the quoted amount. It came down to our word against their word and at the end of the situation we were out the difference. between $216 and $260. Let me tell you I would not was my time trying to scam SS out of $45 for a future discount. I made several calls and I am now posting this review and I know it will get me nowhere. Oh and my offer for the "inconveince" was a gift cert for $25. Mind you I used Stanley Steemer for about 20 cleanings over 6 years and never made a fuss but one time when guys didn't move couches--again when I was not home to oversee their job. If I could give zero stars I would. They came into my house last weekend to clean all of my carpets to get my house ready to show. There were multiple areas not done they didn't vacuum some of the areas they told me they would they left liquid ant traps from the corner of one of my bedrooms on my sheets and comforter on my bed and they spilled out all over, ruining my sheets and comforter. They left the dirty garbage cans and floor mats rolled up on my beds. When I called to get refunded for overcharging me and charging me for things I did not agree to, also ruining my property, they said they never refunded they only fix the mistakes. It was a holiday weekend and there was no time to fix the mistakes. My house was hitting the market. So I had to clean everything up and go buy a new comforter and sheets. When the lady from corporate called me back she was very kind but still no refund issued only wanted to fix the mistakes. I never wanted these people back in my house again anyway, but I kept telling her there is no way to fix the mistakes because I already did that. Also they did not refund any of the property damage they agreed with all of their technicians opinions and not one of mine at all. Bottom line is they can overcharge you they can come in not do the job that they promised they can damage your property and they hold no responsibility whatsoever and will not refund you ever!!!!!!! We had our vents cleaned by Stanley steamer as our house was previously owned by heavy smokers. First, booking the consultation/estimate was easy and quick! He wore shoe covers in the house which we appreciated. We scheduled for 4 days later when 2 men cleaned our vents with some truck that uses negative pressure I think they said. Anyways they also wore shoe covers. They did a great job. They weren't unpleasant but not overly friendly either which is fine they were there to work and got it done. Absolutely a waste of $280. Had it done on June 28th. They literally took 15-20mins to do a 20x25' room, hallway and staircase. When they got the vac out I asked if they were going to pre-treat the stains and the rep said that the pre-treatment sprays out as they clean it. Weird. After they were done I asked about the stains and the fact that the carpet didn't look clean and the rep said my carpet was old and it was wear and tear. It's a Berber carpet and handles wear very well. If his answer was true, it wouldn't have looked better after we had to shell out another $100 to get a Rug Doctor. Shockingly it did. Stains they said they scrubbed and couldn't get up came up with a single pass of the Rug Doctor. I mean seriously, how clean could they get it in 20 minutes. Got to my door at 2pm, were in there truck and on there way by 2:38pm. I filled out the survey, asked for a call... never received one. The survey asks if I wanted to be entered into a drawing to win $250 of SS services. Ha! I said NO! I not only do NOT recommend using Stanley Steemer, I feel completely scammed by this company. After all was said and done $380 shelled out and my carpet only looks as good as our do it yourself job. I was really looking forward to this service and couldn't be more disappointed. I spent a good deal of money to have my carpets steam cleaned. The high traffic area appeared pretty dark after the cleaning and the technician said it was normal. After the carpet dried completely, the area looked EXACTLY the same as before. When I contacted them I was told the that carpet fibers in high traffic areas wear and the discoloration was not dirt but excessive wear. That's fine but it would have been nice to tell me that BEFORE they charged me. Fast forward...I purchased a high power vacuum cleaner which sucks dirt from under the carpet and padding. It turns out that its the dirt (which turns to mud from the steam) which caused the discoloration. Stanley Steemer NEVER vacuumed the rug so the steam actually makes more of a mess. I have used SS many, many times and always have been pleased with the results. However, today's crew was exceptional and should be recognized. As always, they were professional and polite. Humayun and Patrick spent extra time working on stains and problem areas. They moved everything and replaced everything with the guard protection under all legs. They cleaned up any dirt that came in with their equipment and even dragged everything back upstairs to reclean an area visited by our dog's muddy feet after they had finished cleaning. Wow, I should've read the reviews first. Guys were nice and professional. However, the capets were soaking squishy wet when they left and although I raised a level of concern and dissatisfaction I was told that was the way it is supposed to be and SS has the strongest suckers on the market. My service window was noon to 5pm for 3 bedrooms, a living room, and a hallway. I got cleaning and deodorizing for $344. A family member fell down the stairs because his bare feet were so wet - even though we knew to be careful. They told me on the way out it would be 12 - 24 hours to dry. Whaaaat? To make matters super worst, in one bedroom the carpet has buckled so badly afterwards that I tripped over it. It was not buckled prior to cleaning. I had another carpet stretched in the house the day before so if it was buckled I would've taken care of that also...and I'm sure they would've said something about it. I had the supervisor come out today to inspect and they said there's nothing they can do about it. That's it! If it's an older carpet it could happen. Yet none of the other rooms buckled so what happened here. Now I have to pay another carpet stretcher to come back for another $250 to fix their mistake. I know things happen. But forget customer service, I guess. I get my carpets cleaned at least every other year and never had this happen. I would not use this company. My elderly parents used Stanley Steemer to clean the carpets in their home twice before hiring them for a third time last month. This time they also purchased duct cleaning, which went very well. The day after the duct cleaning, the same service provider returned to clean the carpets. Before he started the cleaning process, he offered to add carpet deodorizer for free. However, he ultimately charged my parents for the deodorization. After multiple phone calls to their service department, Stanley Steemer would not provide a refund, offering 10% off the deodorization charge that my parents never requested. It's surprising and brutally disappointing that an employee of Stanley Steemer would deceitfully take advantage of the elderly and the company itself would allow this to happen. read more

There is no way I would allow Stanley Steamer back in my home. You use the cold tap water from my powder room to clean the carpets?? That's ridiculous - I don't need to clean up my bathroom and remove excess water from my carpets again after you guys "clean" the carpeting. We had a high traffic area in our family room that needed cleaning. After the technician finished, the area looked as if it wasn't cleaned at all. He told me that when it dries, it would look much better. That did not happen and I immediately contacted customer service. They stated that carpet fibers in high traffic areas are most likely damaged and there's nothing they could do. If that was the case, they should have alerted me be beforehand. If I could rate Stanley Steemer -0 stars I would. I am a young home owner and GOT TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. They came to my townhouse and FORCED us to get our floors "sealed" since they weren't (but they were sealed) and said we had to get it or they would not clean our floors. So we were pressured into paying and extra $500 for that service. They then DID NOT clean all of our floors that we paid for, meaning they did not put that "seal" on our floors. They left streaks EVERYWHERE and our floors looked worst than before. I called the next day, and they said it was not a "seal" they put on, but a gloss coat. The team that was out did not say it was a gloss top, they LIED to us and took advantage of us and gave a horrible service thinking they can get in and out. The guys that came out to fix them were in aw with how bad the previous team left the floors. I called about a refund on the "seal" that they put on our floors since they LIED and didn't even put it all over our floors and it's been 3 days and still haven't called me back! HORRIBLE! Would not recommend! Customer service keeps saying that the manager "Mike" will call and still nothing! Will NEVER use them again. I expected more from a company that has been in this business for so long. I had my large bedroom wall unit taken apart before they came. Had a long strip 3 inch wide of dirty carpet. Stanley's barely made a dent in the dirty strip. With elbow grease and spot cleaner, I was able to. It's as if they did not want to try. Do not use Stanley Steemer! I paid extra for their "protectant" and it caused my carpeting to get very dirty in a month and a half!!!! They claim it is supposed to work that way, but the dirt would not vacuum up. They would not even come over to see the dirt spots. They wanted to charge me $35.00 to redo the small carpeted area. They are a ripoff! Had to resteam clean my carpet to remove the damage they caused! read more

I have Stanley Steemer come out at least twice a year for my carpets. The two guys I had come out last week were awesome. They asked me if I wanted additional services but did not push them when I declined them! Carpets look great as usual! read more
