It's been a year since Stanley Steamer cleaned our carpets but I felt compelled to write a review today. When we purchased our home last October we hired Stanley Steamer to clean the carpets. The carpets had a lot of stains and there was some discoloration next to the walls. Well Stanley left and the carpets seemed no better. They said they couldn't get the stains out. Well, I finally decided to get one of those home carpet cleaning machines and with a little extra care the spots are now gone. I feel a little frustrated that I paid for a professional cleaning with a professional carpet cleaning machine and the $99 Amazon carpet cleaner did a much much better job. read more

I'm a long-standing customer and have been consistently very satisfied with the quality of their work. (I book online and am assigned to the Marlboro franchise). The wall-to-wall carpeting in my in-home psychotherapy office gets a lot of foot traffic and inevitable stains. Same for upholstered chairs. As always, the carpeting and chairs turn out looking brand new, and I'm delighted! "Scamley Schemer" is rude to boot! Not only did they jack up the price when they arrived, and wore not booties to cover their shoes, but one of the servicemen was abrasive, argumentative, unprofessional, and unsafe! He pulled his mask down below his nose. I backed away and asked him to cover his face. His manner became so objectionable that I asked them to leave immediately. I think this poor excuse for a service oriented company should clean their own house first before going to anyone else's. read more

Great customer service, but not happy with the final result. After a successful Halloween party, my couch needed to be cleaned. People were out to clean the couch within hours of me calling, but the "cleaning and deodorizing" process left a disgusting, powdery chemical smell that permeated my entire apartment. I gave it a few days before calling to complain that it hadn't gone away. They were apologetic and sent people out to clean it again, same day. The smell wasn't as abrasive as the first time, but my couch is certainly not "deodorized" - it now has a permanent, gross smell that I'm stuck with. I might be forced to get a new couch sooner than expected because the smell is nauseating... read more

I made a major mistake going with Stanley Steemer. Never again. Upon arrival, I was promptly told that the online estimating tool under priced my job and that I would have to pay another $275 for 2 carpets, 2 chairs and an ottoman. The house was torn apart, so I went ahead with the work. The service reps were polite and efficient, but the quality of work on the chairs was not good. I can actually see dirt streaks on the arms of my recliner!!! There are other carpet and furniture cleaning options out there. Use anyone other than Stanley Steemer. read more

Omar was awesome (not his fault at all!) but the online estimate I received was less than HALF what it would have ultimately cost. Though I indicated that I lived on a fourth floor walk-up in my online estimate, and did not have an elevator or parking (I live in the city), this was not at all factored into my pricing. Instead, I was informed that I'd have to pay an additional $150 just for the STAIRS (these poor staff members are literally expected to count how many stairs), on top of the cost of services. Sorry, but I just couldn't stomach/hadn't budgeted for that. Two stars just because Omar was so kind and communicative. Need to dramatically rethink their online estimate/appointment request processes, as they clearly aren't accurate. read more

My first and last experience with this company I called to have two area Chinese rugs taken out and cleaned. The guys show up and basically soak me on the measurements-the difference was around 100 dollars! I had the original carpet receipt to prove it. I realized this after the fact. Of course, they charged me on the site. Now, they have finally admitted the discrepancy and denying the promise of delivery on the proposed date. When I called to set up the appointment they said that's a national ad in the local towns do everything differently and wanted to charge $90 one room. They're misleading and Should honor what their company advertises. Don't be fooled. DO NOT USE STANLEY STEEMER Boston/Holbrook. SCAM. SHAM. First technician couldn't clean chairs. I was able to clean them with my fingernail. (He didn't even try to clean half the chairs b/c he couldn't see any stains). They sent a 2nd team who also couldn't clean. Again, showed off my fingernail cleaning ability. She suggested I clean the chairs myself. Spoke to Steve Hurley, branch manager who offered 50% refund or 3rd team. He refused to provide a full refund. So he gets a review. The cleaning is a scam. Steve - your products and technicians don't clean. A 3rd team wastes more of my time and makes more mess of our house. I feel badly writing this review about a local company/franchise. Extremely unprofessional cleaners. The "cleaning" items used are filthy. Do not use this company. I used them for upholstery cleaning - when I showed the employees the stains, the immediate response was "that's from sitting, we cannot remove them". The mop used to clean the water may have been reused about 60 times and was the filthiest mop I've ever seen. I steam cleaned my floor around the couches and chairs and then had to use an antibacterial detergent to sanitize further. What a disappointing experience. read more

I've had this branch of Stanley Steemer come over multiple times after our basement-level apartment flooded (I've also used their services for carpet and upholstery cleaning). They have consistently delivered excellent results. Their cleaning professionals are very knowledgeable, fast, thorough, and polite. Our walls and carpets look brand-new; the services were at a very reasonable cost for the quality of workmanship and customer service. If you live in the Dorchester area, it's a no-brainer. I have used Stanley Steemer in the past when I lived in CT and have given the CT location 5 stars. I moved to Massachusetts and thought the company would have enough quality control that I could count on another 5 star experience...nope. I wish I could give this location 0 stars. I called the call center to book the appointment and the woman was exceptionally nice. The quote I received was in line with what I had paid in the past so I thought - perfect all is well. Well when the team arrived today they wanted to charge almost double. Mind you I have had the same rug and couch cleaned 7 times before at the rate I was quoted and I have receipts. The service team was rude and basically said this is a franchise not one business. So I said, Well you and your franchise can leave. (And they did). I have lived all over and been very happy with the business- this location however needs better customer service training. I won't be using them while I live here. Stanley Steemer ruined a high end couch of ours. Their vacuum was dirty and it left brown and green stains on the cushions. When I called to tell them they sent a "manager" out who basically admitted that this was from their vacuum and told me to call back and say that the problem couldn't be fixed. I was then elevated to Maria who was extremely unhelpful and said her technicians said they were pre-existing stains which they are not. I am so frustrated...they have charged me $400 for the service and they completely ruined my couch. Next I am dealing with their insurance company. read more

They waited till the time frame was up to call me and informed me that they wouldn't make it for another hour and a half. I have a renter coming in and wanted the place as sanitary as it could get. Stanley Steemer was fabulous. Recommended their special sanitizer which I opted for. The rugs look like brand new and I know the new tenants will feel so much better knowing the rugs have been not only cleaned but sanitized. Much appreciated right now! Booked a carpet clean for stairs and rooms. They walked all the way up to my third floor --with shoes on--and told me they couldn't do stairs. Why on earth didn't I know this when I booked, and why on earth did they wait until they walked up THREE flights of stairs to tell me this? They couldn't even do my top floor. So now my carpets are actually dirtier than they were before they came. They had done my place years ago, including the stairs, but I started using another company because they only did a so-so job. The only reason I booked them over the other company this time was because he other one's schedule was full this month. It was worth it to wait for the professionals. deceptive pricing, their technicians are apparently trained to "up-sell" and try to add high-priced additional features. I wish these options were listed on the website when I booked the service. I had assumed that the price listed on their website to clean a sofa was the price to do a good job of cleaning the sofa. Sent another technician out again a week later who was here for 5 mins, said everything came out because the carpet looked wet and the next morning spots are still there. Terrible. The cleaners's first words were that they would have to charge double because the room was more than 300 sq ft. I measured it again and it was 200. They didn't seem to care what I measured - they clearly knew. They did one pass over the entire carpet - 5 minutes. I got my Bissell out while they were still there and it filled with dirty water and foam. The cleaner told me it was from the Bissell. It was perfectly clean to start. I asked him to focus on two areas and he spent about 5 more minutes. The Bissell was still pulling up dirty water and foam. There were three small pieces of furniture to move, they only moved them a few inches forward, I had to specifically ask each time that they move the furniture completely to get under it. They also didn't put any protection under the furniture feet. Ridiculous waste of money. Get a Bissell and do the work. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT HIRE STANLEY STEEMER! If you must, take pictures of your floor before they get there somehow with date and time. They completely ruined my 4 year old hardwood floors! Scratches everywhere because they didn't pick the furniture up before moving it, instead they dragged everything across the floors. And now, and after months of ignoring us and then finally sending someone out to look at the floors, their "third party" inspector says they aren't responsible. Because a wall to wall rug was wool or part wool they tried to charge me 2 dollars a sf for it. Much more money. No other cleaning company has charged extra. No thanks. Aggravating. I booked the appt 2 days ago and also call to confirm it. They said they will come between 9-1. WE took the half day off and move all the furniture.. It's 2:00 pm now and no one call and show up. Call the management company twice and all they said it's wait. I am very disappointed with Stanley steemer right now. I did not appreciate the carpet cleaner informing me that because they were going to get my sofa wet that I needed to also purchase an upgrade of protection and deodorizing in order to avoid the growth of mildew. I had only had carpets cleaned before so then I began to worry about my almost brand new sofa. When he handed me the bill that was $100 more than my original quote I realized that I had been upsold in a very unethical manner! I called customer service and they confirmed that mildew should never be a risk because they extract 95% of the water they use to clean. He assured me I would hear back from a manager but I haven't, no surprise, I will NEVER use Stanley Steemer again!! read more

Omar & Carlos came from Stanley Steemer to clean up after my dog had a serious accident. I called SS because the company I previously called couldn't come for more than a week. These guys did a great job! I was up sold but didn't mind because more services were needed (beyond what the dog did.) I'll be using them again. This was my third and last time I will use Stanley Steemer. My first experience was awesome. I had badly stained grout color sealed and carpets cleaned and everything came out like brand new. Second time was so so. My mistake for trying again. I moved and wanted color seal for the grout in my bathrooms. They said you don't need that we will clean and just clear seal them. Well they did their work which took one hour. When I had color seal it took almost 3 hours. I asked if they sealed the grout and they said yes. I went out and came back 3 hours later and still had puddles of water on my tiles. I looked at the website and to clear seal should take almost 2 hours. I certainly was scammed on this deal. I will never trust them again. Still waiting to hear from a manager. While waiting I had to get down on the floor with towels to dry my floor before all the water damages my grout which now has cracks and missing pieces. All I wanted was to clean and color seal and these guys just didn't want to take the time to do the job right! Never again Stanley Steemer! read more

I was so impressed watching how meticulous, hard-working, professional and thorough they were, I asked if they could do our tiled kitchen and bath floors and an area rug another time. They happily said they could and could do today while here. The sofa, floors and rug look BRAND NEW! I had never used any steam cleaning service before and will absolutely use them again! i was tagged in a fb post by my bf and because i have allergies and recently my daughter has been doing a lot of coughing i figured giving it a shot at their hvac cleaning! when i asked the lady how much she told it would be a flat rate of $249 but because i was the 2nd commenter to her post that it would be $199 and she told what the service included. she asked my sqft of the house, if i had ac in the house and my zip code! i booked my appt.. they sent a reminder that day before like they said. the day of, they told me last sec a tech would be out after 5pm not the 11-1pm i was looking for( no biggie i was home). i said "that's fine"! they called and texted and sent fb messenger 50 million times for the same thing when they were no where near me( annoying). when he arrived at 545 he was unprofessional! he opened the vents, counted how many i had and took out the air filter, turned off the heating system( which i didn't know he did) after he gave me a price of $559. ummm, i was like i was already given a price. i so unprepared for that total so i told him it was ok not to do anything. he left and didn't put everything back. i was cold and realize he turned off my heat, thank god i found the switch to that but don't know how to put the filter back in he left out( gonna try to you tube that) stepped on a screw he took off something now i gotta try to find out what and he didn't put the registers on all the way. all this could've been avoided by being up front with the customer( me) online! i am quite pissed! absolutely horrible! read more

I called because I wanted my bathroom grout cleaned, and they advertise for this service. It's also written in big letters on the side of their truck. I added in the bedroom carpet to get up to their minimum service charge, but the carpet wasn't really dirty. After the guys arrived and spent quite a bit of time setting up, they let me know they couldn't do the bathroom because the tile is natural marble. I had them do the bedroom anyway since I'd taken the morning off work and they were all set up. But why wouldn't they say in any ads or in person or in the confirming email or confirming phone call that they only do ceramic tile, and not stone tile? Waste of my time and money. read more

I have used Stanley Steemer for a few years. Each fall before the holidays I have tile, carpet and upholstery cleaned, my bill is over $500. I booked my appointment this week and later received an emailed $25 coupon. When I called to ask to use the coupon on the scheduled services, the operator (Amelia) at the call center was not able to confirm the offer code for the coupon and said that I could try to use the coupon but that it would be up to the crew whether they honored it or not. It's just not a good business practice to send out coupons and then have services performed and wait to see if the coupons can be honored. I was told that the crew that comes to my house may not be accepting coupons. Stanley Steemer just lost a repeat customer over the inability to explain why a $25 coupon they issued cannot he used on Stanley Steemer services performed. read more

Surprised to see bad reviews on here considering what a great experience we had with them. In and out quickly, very polite and courteous, nice guys to chat to, and most importantly they did an excellent job, getting a lot of difficult stains out of our carpets. My neighbor hired Stanley Steemer to provide services to their townhouse. The workers hooked up the water connection to my outdoor spigot rather than the customer's. I'm sure this was an innocent mistake on them workers part. Nonetheless the water needed for the service was from a neighboring unit. The unit is 3 levels and was probably considerable work . When I called Stanley Steemer, April, the woman who took my call was professional, courteous and had a problem solving mentality. She told me I would receive a return call the next day, which I did. This call came from the Regional Manager, Maria. Here is the problem..... the solution was..... "sorry, you are out of luck, we don't issue checks. The amount of water used is very small and probably not even $5.00 worth". "When I've calculated the cost before for customers it isn't much". My biggest problem with the entire issue was that there was no resolution. No, we will give you a discount on services if you should decide to use us or we will issue you a check for $5.00, or we will send you a gift card to Dunkin Donuts for the inconvenience. I'm not worried about the $$... the resolution and offer of a solution is the important part. When I suggested the issue be escalated to higher management - Maria told me she was as high as it goes. Hired SS for 2 hardwood floors and two couches...bill was $735, which was quite a bit more than we were quoted. The floor was wet as the technicians were leaving, so I was told to wait until they dried. When I went back in the room, I discovered that there was a HOLE in my wall! Furthermore, the couches were still COVERED in dog hair but they were supposedly "clean." We immediately called to talk to a customer service rep. A new cleaning crew was sent out the next day to address the dog hair. The cleaning techs exact words were "they left it like this?" In addition to spending over $700, I had to rearrange my schedule to be home two days in a row and move furniture around. NOTHING was offered for the inconvenience. Additionally, when we spoke to a manager about the hole in our wall, we were told "it's just a scratch," and to patch it. After going back and forth with customer service, I am getting a $100 back for a terrible cleaning job and still have to repair a hole in my wall. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

This was our first time using Stanley Steamer and I would definitely use them again. My family room carpet had stains from a puppy and from being a high traffic area. They did a fantastic job!
