We called this Stanley Steemers to clean our hallway rug. While the tech was here I asked him to quickly steam a small spot on our brand new bedroom wall-to-wall carpet. The tech left it with three softball sized bleach stains in places we didn't even ask him to touch. The carpet has been ruined and this branch has refused to pay for damages. We have had to resort to seeking legal action. I would not hire this company and I do NOT recommend them. read more

I was in the market to get my couch cleaned. My current couch has a matching chair and ottoman that I bought together about 7 years ago, and over the years they have naturally aged/stained despite my efforts to upkeep them. I thought that getting them professionally cleaned would be a good idea - enter Stanley Steemer. They were the first company that came to mind as it's a name I grew up with hearing, so I decided to start there. Their website was relatively easy to navigate; I entered my address which connected me with a local office, and I then entered the types of services I needed along with logistics relating to parking and location of my apartment within the building. I was then given a quote and chose which day I wanted my service; once selecting a day, I was able to choose either an AM block or a PM block for team arrival. I received text alerts leading up to my appointment time, and the morning of my service I got a text when the team was close as well as a link to track them. They arrived right at the beginning of my block which was awesome, and after a quick intro and debrief they got to work. I chose to have my couch, chair, and ottoman cleaned and deodorized; since I live on a higher floor of my building they brought in a portable cleaner. They worked fast but were also very thorough - I want to say they took 45 minutes at most. After some after-care instructions they cleaned up and were on their way. I think they did a great job - odor was definitely neutralized and overall my furniture looks refreshed. They were also very friendly which I really appreciated. I paid to have my rugs? Couch ans dining chairs cleaned and paid extra for odor neutralizing. It smells identical to how it smelled before they got there. It does not smell fresh and clean at all, nor neutralized. There are spots still in my chairs. It is as though they sprayed water all over my house and left. The technician said "well we got some stains out of your chairs but left new stains there". This is what $700 got me. They absolutely refuse to issue arefund of any amount. Would not recommend. I was completely robbed of my payment. Extremely upset how they can take customers money. I do a better job with my personal steam cleaner. Update. Still no refund or resolution after 3 months. Turns out, our dishwasher has been dripping water at a turtle's pace the last 20 years and if it weren't for our laminate kitchen flooring buckling, we'd never noticed back in May '21. Our biggest health concern was when hubs and his buddy decided to savagely rip the laminate flooring in our galley kitchen leaving the subfloor exposed with years and years of mold. Right then and there, hubs read up on Mold Remediation service, called and gave someone at Stanley some backup information about our floor then asked and answered some questions: is the water pooling under our dishwasher or area surrounding it? No. Do you have a crawl space? Yes. When can you come? ASAP. Our guy was efficient from beginning to end and kept his mask on the entire time. He began by mounting a pole, attaching an easy-to-access zippered plastic to it so we can get from point A to point B, sealing our kitchen shut and using a professional-grade mold remover to kill all the spores. The remover he used, didn't require any elbow grease after the application. Instead, he'd used a spray-it-and-forget-it type formula that worked on its own while the heavy-duty dehumidifier and heated fan sucked up all the moisture and horrible smell from the subfloor. While the solution and machines did their work, he observed the crawlspace for any leakage. There were no visible puddles caused by our dishwasher- so that was a huge plus- but the soil was damp. At this point, I was just glad that our crawlspace was nowhere near the horror stories we've heard about them being inundated with water. The dehumidifier and fan stayed on for a full 3 days to really absorb all moisture. It was noisy and annoying but it had to be done. On that 3rd day, machinery was removed. We took our own step of purchasing floor paper and covering the now-cleaned subfloor until our kitchen is remodeled from top to bottom. I think I'm appreciative because despite the low reviews here, our guy at Stanley Steemer was professional through it all. read more

Find another company--just had our ducts cleaned. Workers went through every single room of the house without shoe coverings, debris from the vents got on bedding in two rooms, and I had to clean up after them. I've used Stanley Steemer over the years for carpet, grout, tile and duct cleaning. Over the last few years, the quality of the work has decreased, but it is the most convenient and well-known company out there. Never again--will find a local company. read more

I had a furnace and duct cleaning with dryer vent a week ago and after the service I ventured downstairs to the mechanical room to discover the old furnace filter lying near back door, so I figured since the filter was carelessly left dirty on back door that told me I should check the quality of the cleaning and sure enough the new filter that was installed I removed to fi clumps of dust and dirt, the filter was plugged mind you a new filter was already bad red flag after further inspection the furnace and lower level duct work was filled with the dust and dander from both first level and 2 nd floor. all the stuff from upper levels were just settled out in basement duct work so I had to call and request another cleaning and visit, when the next visit came it was one of the same guys from the first attemted cleaning I immediately told them no and called the company back and complained that when I called I told them not to send out the same crew so I waited a few hours and another crew arrived and perfectly cleaned the system right . these 2 guys need to train the first 2 and then it would be a perfect day. these second crew was flawless and professional definitely recommend the second crew. read more

Hired Stanley Steamer Port Chester to clean couch, area rug and grout in 2 bathrooms. They did a terrible job on the grout and damaged a white tile floor in my bathroom leaving scratches on the tiles. The rep that did the job said nothing and left when the damage was brought to his attention and shown that the work was insufficient. After we report the damage and poor work to management a rep named Donald comes to investigate and agrees with the fact they damaged floor and did not do a proper job on the grout and then proceeded to tell my wife it's an older floor when trying to offer a resolution. Hiring them was a big mistake, the aggravation and time dealing with them has been time consuming and frustrating at best. read more

Horrible cleaning service. Price was ok, they scratched my walls in 2 places and tried covering it up. They bent the fan on my air-conditioning unit. They left three ducks covered with plastic so I had to climb up on the ladder to remove. They left two vents closed preventing airflow. On top of those issues they unplugged my air-conditioning unit and left a plug-in upside down in an outside unit and it took two days to figure out why the air condition wasn't working. Made an appointment, was given a time-frame of 12-6... didn't hear anything all day. Called the office at 3pm to make sure they had my correct phone number and address... was confirmed. Was told they would both call and text when they were on their way...6 pm passes, I call again and was told the order was cancelled because I wasn't home, which is a lie. My office window literally faces the front of the house AND we have a camera on the front door. I was never called or texted. No one ever came. We moved all of our furniture for nothing. Possibly the worst experience with a service provider. I was home with my infant daughter. The technician told me the cleaning solution, and protectant had no smell. The carpet being cleaned was in my infant's bedroom. After the technician left, the carpet was REEKED of chemicals. I had to open all of the windows and doors in my home and take the rug outside. Days later and I'm still waiting for them to follow-up. Called them to remove a soiled spot on my mom's carpet. They said they couldn't do it because they couldn't get the equipment in the room to clean it which was a lie. The building was built in 2010 the building has regulation width doorways. Then they went and told the front desk and HOA about the soiled spot. When they arrived I was told that the $99 was just to come to the house and that I would need to pay $250 -- a classic bait and switch. I've had good experiences with them before, but this is a classic way to try and force folks into paying WAY more than quoted and than I would ever pay to steam clean a car. I booked this in advance. When the salesman arrived, he pulled his mask down underneath his moth and nose - in my house-without asking if it was ok to do so =which it was not. Then, he tried to upsell me on much more expensive services right from the get go. I told him I wasn't interested. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING. I had always heard that SS was the state of the art in rug cleaning. I drove from Hartsdale to their office to map out my location, the geography of the property and my apartment's positioning. I was told that as long as my apartment was no more than 200 feet from the parking lot, it'd be OK. I had guests coming in two days. The SS crew arrives, goes up my steps and tells me the job can't be done, not with the "portable" or with the truck because of the location. All the time I put into moving furniture to allow proper cleaning, the time I spent actually driving to their office to explain the job, and in five minutes they're in and out. So I'm screwed, my rug still isn't clean, I have TWO DAYS to rearrange something and Stanley Steemer is a scam. read more

We had to have a large (12'x14') area rug steam cleaned after having it treated for moths. Because we live in a walk up, I ordered the pick up and delivery service. They came and took the carpet, no problem. But when it came time to return it, it was a terrible experience. They did not show on the morning we had scheduled, and my wife had to arrive later for work. For their screw-up, the only thing the manager offered was $100 off the next cleaning. (As if I'd give them my business again. They should have at least waived the $60 pickup and delivery fee.) We rescheduled for the next day, promised that they'd be there between 7-7:15 and they were STILL late. What made it worse was that the two delivery guys had major difficulties trying to set the carpet evenly over the non-slip mats. It seemed to take forever, with one guy knocking over a few picture frames, the mats getting all bunched up underneath. Everything uneven. I couldn't believe it -- two guys who work for a carpet company couldn't even get the carpet on straight. It was like these guys never did this before. When we first got the carpet, I put it down MYSELF -- it was a pain, but I managed to do it right. At this point I was close to just kicking them out, I was so fed up. My wife and I eventually had rearrange the carpet ourselves. I have to assume the carpet was expertly cleaned. It's very dark, so it's not like there were noticeable stains or something. But overall, it was terrible service made worse by a lame attempt by management to make it right. I thought about contacting their corporate offices, but since I don't plan on choosing Stanley Steemer ever again, I highly doubt they'll do anything for us. read more

I scheduled an appointment and told them that we would be home all day. I was told 11 am-1 pm arrival. I received a text notification that they were running behind and eta was delayed. No big deal. My husband waited on the porch for them to arrive. I then see I have a missed call and immediately call back the number 3 times. I then get a message that the serviceman is ringing my bell and that they will 10 minutes. My husband is still on the porch so obviously they went to the wrong house. I try calling the number again and then call the official number and explain that no one is here. They then claim his car has been outside my house and he is still knocking. I explain he is at the wrong place. They then tell me I missed my appointment. So the serviceman goes to the wrong address, doesn't answer the phone he just called me on, and I am on the phone with the official number, but we are the ones that "missed the appointment." Absolutely a horrible experience. The technicians failed to clean the bathroom floor grout and damaged (gash and scratches) my bathroom door. The technicians failed to acknowledge the damage or attempted to address the poor job with respect to cleaning the grout. After the technicians left my residence I discovered that they stole my spray nozzle to my garden hose and it was observed approximately 400 feet from my residence (crushed) in the road. I spoke to the manger, Michael Petrello, who initially assured me that he would address this serious issue. Mr. Petrello then refused to answer any of my repeated emails or phone messages. I have used them twice in the past with no problem. This time i ordered two rooms cleaned for the $99 special. I was not home at the time of the cleaning so my husband signed the bill. He was asked 2 questions: do we want the sofa cleaned (no) are there any problem areas (1 spot). I came home and saw that we had a $240 charge rather than a $100 charge because my carpets were protected and deoderized when they were cleaned. I did not request these services since we plan on changing our carpets soon and just wanted a simple cleaning because we had dusty work done on the house. I called to speak with someone and was told that i could be refunded and would get a call back. I was not called. I called back again and left a message. The person I spoke with gave the following excuses: - the workers wouldnt provide services that arent asked for - they were on our account for previous orders #1 - they did provide services we didnt ask for and then charged us for them - what type of business is this?! #2 - if i order steak two times at a restaurant it doesnt mean my next order will also be steak so what do our previous orders have to do with this one? He even saw my email confirmation of the CLEANING for $99 that I did order. He refused to issue me a refund since the services were provided and offered a gift certificate which would expire in a year. I threatened to stop the charge since i would need a NEW carpet cleaned when it is installed in a few months. He then said the gift certificate would be dated for 2015 instead. So I'm pretty sure I just got tricked into spending $300 more than I had to... When I called to make my cleaning appointment for my tile kitchen floors, I spoke with a lovely lady over the phone at (what I believe was) the central call station. She was very nice and thorough and explained all of my options along with pricing. We made an appointment for a few weeks out and I was very excited. The day of the cleaning arrived and I moved all of the furniture out of the kitchen with the exception of the large kitchen table. The two technicians arrived and asked me a few questions about the age of the floor, and then one of them asked if there was a wax seal over the tile... I had no idea whether there was wax on them or not, we had only moved in about a year and a half ago. I was told if there was any wax on the floor they would not be able to do a cleaning, they would only be able to strip the floors and then clean after they removed all of the wax. He tested an area to show me that there was wax... I couldn't really see a difference but they are supposed to be the professionals, right? He roughly measured the space and gave me the cost for the stripping: an additional $316... my original cleaning quote was $304. I agreed to the pricing because I wanted to get the floors cleaned and I was under the impression this was the only option. The technicians immediately started working spraying this "very strong" stripping agent all over my kitchen floor. I paused for a moment because my kitchen table was still in the kitchen... And I saw some of the solution getting onto my hardwood floors in my hallway... I should have asked them then what exactly it was they were spraying on the floor. But again, I assumed they were professionals and would protect the table and do whatever needed to be done to make sure the hardwood floors weren't ruined. I watched as they wiped up the "strong solution" with a towel on the hardwood floors and that was it... And I watched the solution go directly onto my painted kitchen table legs and there seemed to be no concern. They finished the cleaning and the grout does look better. There are some spots that they were not able to get cleaned (corners, edges, one spot it looks like they forgot about under the table), but overall I am happy with the grout that was cleaned. As for this "wax" they said they removed, I see absolutely no difference. I also have a hard time believing this $300 solution was as strong as they said. I watched it go right the kitchen table legs and they are absolutely fine, as is the hardwood floor. If the solution really was strong enough to remove a wax coating on a floor, wouldn't it have removed the top coat on the table legs and the hardwood floor? I probably should have read reviews before making my appointment, but the woman at the call center was so nice and explained everything so clearly that I had confidence I was working with professionals. And to be fair, both of the technicians were also very nice, I just feel like I didn't need to have the floor "stripped". Just a fair warning to anyone looking to get their tiles/grout cleaned and you have a semi shiny tile. read more

Had to give at least one star because they did come on time. I needed my bathroom grout cleaned because I'm moving in to a new place and wanted the bathroom professionally cleaned. Honestly I could've cleaned it better myself. The corners were left undone, the grout looks spotty, clean in some spots , still dirty in others. Maybe it was laziness on the technicians part, but he seemed to be annoyed when I asked him to do the corners. How can you clean a bathroom and not do the perimeter of room, and where tile meets the vanity. I will not be recommending them ever to anyone.
