I come here as often as I can and it's always a wonderful, special experience, even more so when Elyssa (sp?) is the server! The charcuterie boards here are perfection, do not sleep on it and be sure to savor the onion jam. That said, one of my favorite things to get is the roasted root vegetable plate, that combo with the yogurt and honey is some fine dining action, though you should absolutely skip adding the sausage. Getting a flight is usually the way I go, but then I often end up getting a full glass of my favorite from there. Such a gem in DTC and I hope it stays forever! read more

This is a great place for after work happy hour in a casual ambiance. I came here for birthday drinks with my family before we headed to dinner nearby. The location has a spacious area filled with a variety of wine options. I picked a Bourgogne Chardonnay from France ($36). We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Stanley's Wet Goods is a great wine bar where locals can peruse the aisles of their extraordinarily large selection of wine, check out beer options in the fridge, purchase some niche cheeses, chocolates, crackers and other items for your charcuteries. High bar shared seating inside but tables outside. They also have a riddle of the day posted above the bar which is fun to solve when you're a little buzzed. Everyone is nice, knowledgeable and non pretentious. The staff has encouraged me to try so many different wines I wouldn't normally do for fear of looking like a noob. I've enjoyed a wide range of wines from an orange one day, a pinot next, a buttery Chardonnay or a spicy Syrah. Every time I'm there it's a fun experiment. :) If you're a lightweight like me, I'd suggest eating a meal beforehand because the menu is pretty light. Street parking or structure in downtown culver is available. You can try the local neighborhoods for free parking, just don't park by my place! lol read more

Stopped by Stanley's Wet Goods for the first time and was really impressed! The place has such a cool, relaxed vibe -- definitely not your average wine shop. The staff was super friendly and helped me pick out a bottle after I admitted I had no idea what I was looking for . They've got a great selection of wines (lots of natural options and smaller producers) and even let you taste a few things before deciding, which was awesome. Prices were reasonable too -- I walked out with something unique without spending a ton. This place is always full and I know why. Their food is severely underestimated. It is that good. Perhaps not to the usual wine bar flavoring where they tend to be on the saltier side to promote the wine drinking. I love the chefs palette on their food. Plus their proportions are much more than other high end restaurants. But with the same quality. They have great selections of wine and bottles for takeout. The service is also great. The tables are communal so that might be a turn off for some. It's first come first serve which I like. I think they should expand their sit down/bar area to the other sections. This place is a good place to grab some happy hour wine with friends. Three of us came here as walk-ins around 5pm and initially were unsure if we should seat ourselves or wait for someone. There ended up being some space at a long (shared) table indoors. The ambience is definitely cute, but not super intimate if that's what you're looking for. The charcuterie board was excellent & I had the red blend wine which was also delish from the happy hour menu. We didn't see any real food on the menu besides sandwhiches which nobody was in the mood for. But luckily being centrally located in Culver City, there were plenty of other restaurants we could choose from for something substantial. We wanted a natural wine that was dry and had a watery aftertaste and he totally understood our mission. I was craving Stellar pretzels and they happened to sell the exact flavor I was craving! They have an extensive variety of wines to choose from, reasonable prices, and an inviting & electric vibe full of happy people in deep conversations. I've come here twice to pick up bottles of natural wine but it was also a pleasant experience sitting down and enjoying the quick wine tasting flight on the menu. I really love this wine bar! I think we need more of them in LA. It's both a cute wine shop as well as a bar. They have cute bites/plates to share and a good wine menu. You can do it by the bottle or buy wine flight. They also do have beers if that's what you want. The ambience is cute in that they have both indoor and outdoor seating, but it does fill up. The service is good, but the staff do get busy with all the different parties sharing communal tables. This rating is specific to the NYE experience here and I would give 3.5 if I could. The good - the woman who handled our reservation and helped when we arrived was so lovely! She was warm and friendly and apologetic when our table wasn't ready and gave us complimentary champagne to make up for the inconvenience. The food was delicious with the standout being the bread pudding! We also purchased a bottle from the shop side and the woman who helped us with the wine was great, listened to our palette and gave some good recommendations. The vibe was fun too, they had balloons and a step & repeat with NYE props. The bad - it took awhile to get service and the server seemed like he didn't want to be there. As we approached midnight, we got asked by a different server about ordering champagne and asked what the complimentary one was we had earlier. Our server said oh we're not doing a complimentary toast for midnight this year. So we ordered 2 glasses of the one he quoted that we had earlier. Turns out they did pass around complimentary glasses at midnight and then after when we got the bill, the 2 glasses were $50. That felt so sneaky, I highly doubt the complimentary ones earlier were a $25/glass price tag since a) they were complimentary and b) all the sparkling options on their menu are $14-$16. SERVICE:Amy did an amazing job with our group of 9 and I hope that she's our server every time we return. She did an amazing job at checking in on everyone at multiple points, making sure we always had enough drinks by checking in as we were getting low, refilling water, and everything we ordered came out correctly and deliciously. ATMOSPHERE: I love that they have a wine bar on one side and a wine shop on the other. The vibe is upscale casual, with seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. They have an outdoor area with regular tables and the indoor section has both a bar and two large communal tables. I absolutely love the vibe and have for the past few years. WINE: They have a great wine selection with a wide array of options. We did the Wednesday Night Special flight for $21 (my favorite number) which included 3 tastings of drastically different Pinot Noirs from around the world that all come out at once so you can do a true side-by-side comparison. FOOD: They have a menu with curated items that are meant to be shared, and the top three I recommend are the meatballs ($18), baby beets ($16), and smashed potatoes ($14). As a goat cheese connoisseur, I recommend everyone get the sweet Baby Beets, with marinated red baby beets, aged Cabernet Sauvignon vinegar, whipped honey goat cheese + mascarpone, candied pecans, and micro arugula greens. We decided to sit inside since it was cold that evening. Their kitchen opens at 5, but you can still get cold plates prior to the kitchen opening. Their happy hour is 1-7PM M-F. Happy hour includes $10 glasses of wine and 1 meat + 1 cheese charcuterie for $16. We ordered both and also got meatballs to share. The wine was tasty and the food was good! Their portions seemed pretty big overall - meatballs came with 5 meatballs and 4 pieces of bread. They also offer flights for $21 (3 drinks) which I'll have to try next time.
