Wine by the glass - Bordeaux
    Brian V.

I've been to this place a few times now, and by my previous review, you can tell i'm big fan of the vibe and service here. For this particular visit in early April 2025, me and a couple of friends came in for a wonderful meal from resident Chef - Paul Chuanchasit. Check their respective IG accounts for the timing and menu info etc. The chef has actually done pop-up dinner nights here previously and I wanted to go, but was unable to for whatever reason. So I was excited to make a reservation during his residency! The menu is streamlined, which is great. I would say that the menu has influences from different cultures, both eastern and western, but with the backbone of Thai cuisine. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We ordered: -Shrimp cigars -Oyster (and scallop) Cardinale -Salmon tartare -Steak frites -Pork toro panang (with some roti on the side to sop up the sauce) -Calpico ice cream (with fig jam and crispy rice) And of course plenty of delicious wine! I was also able to play some of my old French records on their record player on the later side with was fun! On a side note: also came here in the morning during a previous visit and had the biscuits and gravy, which were also very awesome. Enjoyed that meal with a nice cup of coffee while watching some sports.

Finally made it!!! The wine selection was unique in the best way. The Thai fusion food was also incredible. Ambiance great. Service great. 10/0 no notes

Lovely small wine/ beer bar. Nice helpers only 2 on a Friday night. I so wanted to like this place but there are some issues. Firstly, the chef young and energetic is able to make use on a very confined closet of a kitchen. I really believe he could do so much more with a proper kitchen!!! Burger was reimagined and actually pretty good. Overall average....

Steak, perfectly medium rare (more rare than medium rare- just how I like it)

It only took me forever to finally have a meal at Cardinale du Vin, but super happy I made the time for my latest solo date. Arrived here on a Sunday at around 5:30pm and managed to snag a seat at the coveted bar. Most of the seats were snagged and in all honesty, for a small place, the place was relatively busy (always a good sign). Vibes were super cute, cozy, and everyone seemed familiar with one another. I even managed to walk into the place while everyone was singing happy birthday to one of the bartenders which added to the cozy atmosphere. For food, I got the Arugula salad and steak with a delicious glass of wine as well. The Arugula salad was delicious! I'm a huge arugula fan and this had all the aspects I love: cheese, vinaigrette, and nuts. Not gonna lie, I wish the portion of this was a tad bigger, but that wouldn't keep me away from ordering it again. It was great (and the plates themselves are gorgeous) Steak was perfectly medium rare (more rare than medium - my favorite way to have it) . I'm cursing the GLP-1 gods which kept me from eating the entire thing, but it was superb all the same. The glass of wine I got was excellent. Fruity and delicious. Super cute dinner at Cardinale du Vin! It's definitely a place I'd love to bring friends and neighbors for a nice meal at a local spot. Great addition to the neighborhood and I'll be back for another round very soon.

Wine bar x Thai food x supporting small business owners?! Count me (and friends) in! Amazing wine selection! Amazing small business owners! Amazing chef crafting some of the most delicious bites in LA! Chill ambiance! They do unique events here too so follow them on IG to stay up to date on the latest! Sometimes you can do tasting menus, sometimes they have pop ups, sometimes you're at the wine bar making new friends -the menu is always evolving, so much fun, highly recommend!

A great little spot. Their food feels elevated, and the service is always excellent. I live nearby and it's a great spot to meet with a friend or have a date night. I'm not a wine expert but I do enjoy it, and can tell a good wine from a bad one. They have great offerings and you can trust the suggestions from employees, they will know just what you're looking for.

Cute small spot for wine night and good conversation. I got red and white wine and a appetizer of bread and tomatoes. Total was $60. Staff was friendly and there was no wait. Parking is hard and the bread and tomatoes weren't that good, but great service!

Service was wonderful from the start. Great casual yet professional experience has been met 100% There is an open kitchen which is a plus to see the chef working in action while the place is filled with guests pleased to sit at the bar. I preferred sitting at the bar because the ambiance was perfect and having to be close to the kitchen and chef was a plus for me. The food was exceptionally perfect. Almost every dish had all full flavors of sweet, savory, sour, and spicy. It hit all the spots. My favorites was the seafood platter 'fruits de mer' and the softshell donabe. All perfectly balance and was not too full and not left hungry.

I chose this restaurant randomly as it had good reviews and was perfectly in the middle between my friend and I. It was probably one of the best culinary decisions I'd ever made. Apparently, this week, the chef had wanted to focus on seafood and so there was a special menu to reflect that, after going back and forth between what we wanted we took the waitress' suggestion and "fire the menu" aka ordered everything (minus the burger). DELICIOUS! Standing ovation, Arsenio Hall style shouting! Herby limey salty fresh sweet the seafood was perfectly prepared everything was thoroughly devoured left literally no crumbs etc etc. I ended up cancelling a previous reservation just to come back in a couple weeks. Thank you Cardinale!

This is a new, very classy bistro with excellent coffee, can't comment on the food yet, haven't tried it. Service is excellent by the owner/operators and the seating, atmosphere is upscale and relaxed. This is a fine addition to the neighborhood. Recommended.

Fancy tinned fish. Delicious and unique!

A great selection of wine and an elevated menu that offers a refreshing twist on French classics. We tried a fair amount of drinks and food and every item was a home run. We highly recommend the oysters, fancy tinned fish, escargot, Cardinale dog (made of wagyu!) and all of their dessert items. The owners are food & wine connoisseurs and great at making recommendations and making you feel right at home. You gotta check this place out!

    Wine and charcuterie board!

Love this place! My friends and I just wanted a chill place to grab a drink and light food on a Saturday evening, and this place was perfect. The wine was excellent, the charcuterie was excellent, the service was excellent! Everyone was so nice and helpful with picking out wines, as well. The outside might look a little basic, but the inside is so cute and loungey. They have a bar, small tables, and then a larger table if you have a bigger group. This is definitely going to be a new go-to spot in the neighborhood.

Of course! Not everything has fish sauce

Is this a good place to stop in and do some work? What are the laptop policies if there are any?

Hey Sarah, it’s a great place to have coffee, lunch and work. We have public wifi for you to use as well.

Do they have any kosher wine options or other kosher options?

We are currently working on adding a couple kosher wines to our menu. If there are winemakers that you’ve had before that you like we’ll look into getting some in, let us know.

The location has a spacious area filled with a variety of wine options. I picked a Bourgogne Chardonnay from France ($36). We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Because of this experience, I rate this place a 4/5, however, everything else was great!

We'll definitely be back.

We originally…read morewanted to try another restaurant, but it was completely booked, so we looked for somewhere new to explore. Met Him At A Bar seemed like a good option, and one of my girlfriends made a reservation for four. Our reservation was at 7:00 PM. I street-parked and walked to the restaurant, where one of my friends was waiting outside. I asked why she wasn't sitting at our table, and she told me that our table was right by the entrance. She didn't like that spot and thought the tables farther inside looked much more comfortable and cozy. Since people were sitting at one of those tables, she wanted to wait until they left. Personally, I thought the table by the entrance was perfectly fine, but I was also STARVING! Another friend arrived and also disliked the table, so we decided to wait. After a while, I was getting way too hungry, so we sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and drinks while waiting. I first ordered the Garlic Shrimp and asked if it was spicy. I was told it was, so I asked if they could make it without the spice because I can't eat spicy food. He said he would check with the kitchen, but since I was starving and it sounded like it might take too long, I changed my order to Garlic Bread. One of my girlfriends ordered a glass of wine, and since she had made the reservation and gone through the trouble of arranging everything, I treated her to the wine and garlic bread. Then, of course, our friend who is ALWAYS late arrived about 30 minutes late! By then, the rest of us had already decided what to order from the Dine LA menu. We wanted to try as many dishes as possible, so we ordered different items and shared everything. When our late friend arrived, we ordered his dishes separately. For the first course, we had Caesar Salad, Bruschetta, and Meatballs. For the second course, we ordered Rigatoni Vodka, Cacio e Pepe, and Margherita Pizza. For dessert, everyone ordered Tiramisu. Overall, I thought the food was good. My favorites were the Bruschetta, Meatballs, Rigatoni Vodka, and Tiramisu. The Cacio e Pepe was not my favorite because I thought they used way too much black pepper, and my other friends agreed. Our group had mixed reactions overall. Except for one person, the other two felt the food didn't quite live up to their expectations and were somewhat disappointed. But everyone's taste is different, so I completely understand. Considering how expensive everything has become these days, I thought the Dine LA price was pretty reasonable. It was $45 per person, and with tax and tip, it came to $60 each. For that price, I thought the amount of food and the overall experience were pretty good. I also really appreciated how friendly and attentive all the staff members were. I usually don't drink alcohol, and especially when I'm driving, I NEVER drink--not even a sip. That has been my personal rule for decades. So I just ordered water, and I loved how the staff kept coming by and refilling my glass whenever it got low. I drink a LOT of water, so I really appreciated their attentiveness. Now, about parking: valet parking is $17. I decided to street-park instead. One of my friends also street-parked, but unfortunately she got a parking ticket and was VERY upset. I had originally found a spot where a sign said a parking permit was required, so I decided not to take the risk and moved my car. Before leaving, I asked a man walking his dog if it was okay to park there. He said he had seen many cars parked there and they had been fine, but I still didn't trust it because the sign clearly said permits were required. I told him, "I don't think that's allowed." He was very nice and suggested going about three blocks farther, where there was plenty of street parking without a permit. I followed his advice and parked there. Unfortunately, my friend who stayed in the permit-only spot ended up getting a ticket. Another friend parked in the parking structure across the street and said it cost $18. Since I had parked farther away and didn't want to walk alone at night, I asked him to drop me off at my car after dinner, and he kindly did. So my parking recommendation is to use the $17 valet or street-park about three blocks away where no permit is required. I definitely would NOT recommend parking in the permit-only spaces unless you want to risk getting a ticket. One of the funniest things about this neighborhood is the restaurant names. The restaurant we went to is called "Met Him At A Bar," and literally right across the street is "Met Her At A Bar." There's also another restaurant called "The Night We Met." I have to say, the names are pretty creative and definitely make this neighborhood more fun! Overall, we had a fun evening together, and for $60 per person including tax and tip, I thought it was a pretty decent Dine LA experience.
