This store is so bad that it would stand out in a ghetto! The workers are pleasant and the glasses are fine, but everything else is awful. The optical provider was way off, as a second opinion with a real eye doctor demonstrated. The store does not accept calls in, as these are all routed to a customer service center where they basically just take your message and kill it. The customer service people have no apparent knowledge of anything useful. Overall, anyone who uses these folks can expect the worst! read more

Went in for a exam and glasses the beginning of December, some asian lady in a far away place was doing my exam. I know this because she was on a tv screen on the wall. Picked out frames and ordered glasses with photo grey. 1st pair made my eyes cross. Went back and they gave me another exam from another asian lady in a far away place. They ordered me a new set of lenses and said 2 week on this 2nd pair. 2 hrs later phone rings and said glasses are ready. Nope, they didnt put photo grey in them, redo time. They order 3rf pair of lenses. When they showed up they werent up to their shitty standards do they refi them again. This is the 4th time. Lenses show up and they dont fit the frames. Now im really ticked off. I go in for the 4th time and they tell me to pick a different frame and they'll make lenses for them. Thats the 5th set of lenses and the 2nd set of frames since the 10th of December. Now they tell me somewhere around the first week in march to get the glasses I need to see. Stanton Optical you suck. Theres no way in hell I would recommend them to the dead voters let alone thats living. HELL NO. read more

If I could I'd give them zero stars. Very poor service. My appointment for an eye exam was for 3:45 and I didn't get in till 4:10. My wife's was for 4:15 at she didn't get in till 5:30 ! They took 3 walkins before her. I did get a full eye exam from the optometrist. At the end of the exam the optometrist said the new prescription "should" be better than my old one ? Really ! Did you not do it right ? My wife did not get a full exam but we paid the same price. The optometrist left before her exam and she was given a virtual exam with an optometrist over the computer. This place is a SCAM. On the phone I was promised that my exam was going to be performed by "an on-site optometrist "...I specifically asked if a doctor was in the store, doing my exam. On the phone I was assured that was the case. NO DOCTOR ON PREMISES. There's a "tele-consult" with someone who I was told was a doctor (of what?) but she NEVER introduced herself. She never asked what my issues were, what was I looking to achieve? This woman on a screen in the upper corner of the exam room was rushing me through tests as I looked through a machine that was improperly setup by the tech. It took 10 minutes to get the machine properly calibrated and there was an issue with the clarity of the exam...I heard the "doctor" tell me to GUESS what I was seeing. I clarified "you want me to guess?!" "Yes" she said. At the very end, when I never ever saw one set of letters that were sharp and clear, I asked about guessing the answers and she said that was NOT what she said. Did we redo the exam? NO!! I wasn't told my diagnosis. I was sent out with a plastic shoebox to "shop" for frames in the lobby, where it is DARK, DINGY, DIRTY!! Not ONE FRAME was acceptable to me, but there were only 50% inventory on the walls. Poorly marked prices. THEN I listened to the crowded sales going on around me and the average cost of 3 different clients was well over $1000. One elderly lady was picking up her completed order and the list of charges was staggering! Special safety lens at the cheapest cost was $85!!! Her glasses were over $1200 and she was shocked and said she couldn't pay that much. She CRIED. The salesperson was asking her if she could borrow the money from somebody and had zero empathy for this lady. THEY ADVERTISE GLASSES FOR $69, free EXAM!! I was told the same repeatedly on the phone when I scheduled the appt. The lobby was crowded when I walked out in disgust. NO DISTANCING AT ALL. Did I expose myself to COVID19 today for zero reason??? I'm so disgusted with this place. The employees all seem miserable and unhappy, no wonder when it's a big scam. This place should be CLOSED. She did not clean the chin or forehead areas when she tested my eyes with the air and the other little tests. Which is terrible especially with COVID going around.! He then said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours. It took 4 days to get an email back, not a call as was stated, that said my order was delayed. Normally I go to Costco optical. The customer service is much better at Stanton. I have now been there 2x, both for eye exams, and most recently for lenses in my ray bans that I purchased online. The wait time was 20 min and I paid 80.00. Well worth it. Last price I paid at Costco optical was 70.00 and the glasses went off for 5 days. My wife ended up getting an coupon for us to get our eyes checked and a discount on glasses. After having read the reviews I was hesitant about what kind of service we were going to get. So we show up at 10 am for our 10:15 and 10:30 appointments. This was a Saturday am. I expected to be delayed and to my surprise we were seen on time. Even though the place was busy. My wife went first and was out in no time. She then wandered off to look at glasses. I was called in one patient after my wife. The Eye dr was great and explained what he was doing. When I came out my wife was finishing up her selection and being rung up. I went and looked at the selection and when I made my choices was seen right away. We discussed my options. I made my selections and picked up my glasses a few hours later. Over all the experience was pleasant. I would recommend this location. I wish I could tell you how they were. I ended up walking out...for the second time. The first time I went in I was told at the optometrist was only seeing patients once a week and they were doing everything through Tele-doc because of covid. Well, because of the condition of my eyes, I need to be dilated and examined. So I scheduled an appointment for today at 1:05pm, I showed up at 12:50 and the waiting room was packed, (I thought there were distancing measures due to Covid?). I signed in and stood around... after seeing only one person get called in, at 1:20 I inquired about how delayed my appointment would be. I was told by the receptionist that there were currently five people ahead of me and it might take up to two hours! Two hours for a 1:05 appointment. I canceled my appointment and walked out. First of all you should not be seeing so many people a day during a pandemic and second, you should not schedule so many people that you cannot see the people who have appointments in a timely manner. It is obvious they want to stack as many into a day as to make a profit. I made an appointment with another optometrist, and was told they only see one patient at a time. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience here. To start off, the wait time is horrible even when having a scheduled appointment. They are also very rude to customers (including myself) and have poor customer service skills. I had ordered $200 glasses and when they came in the frame was damaged due to the heat for fitting, so I asked for a reorder (because they offer 30 day return or exchange) and they said they would do it. So today I called in to see when my new glasses were supposed to come in since it has been a long time with no communication and they said they never ordered it and that I only had three days of my thirty to get it ordered. Ok, so I had an alright experience here once, the second week they were open. I got my glasses in a timely manner, even though my frames broke within weeks. I've never had that happen to me as a 20 years glasses wearer. The bad experience comes from when I brought my daughter for frames. They advertise quick service which is why I chose this place. I took my daughter out of school for an appointment that I made online and we showed up in time. After an hour of waiting, I realized that there wasn't even an optometrist on the premises. I asked the receptionist if we would be seen soon and and received sarcastic and rude responses. I then pointed out that I haven't seen a doctor on site and that there were at least 15 other people waiting to be seen. I just wanted a realistic time frame in which to be seen so that I could take my daughter back to school. The receptionist was completely rude, stating that she had no idea what was going on and it wasn't her fault that we had to wait. I can't believe I actually waited around after speaking to her but my daughter needed glasses and we were desperate. Eventually, she offered to reschedule because of "technical difficulties" but I could clearly see that there wasn't a doctor in and she flat out lied to me even when I asked her a series of simple questions. Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable optometrist in Santa Fe. This place is awful. Horrible staff makes the experience terrible. I would give this place no stars if I could. read more

If I was able to give no stars, I would. Initially visited them back in July of this year (2014), still waiting for them to fix and get correct our lens. My wife has a special prescription, they "promised" they could deliver, still waiting for them to honor that commitment. One of my pair was never sent out after the initial purchase, and when I went to pick up the two pair of glasses, only one was available. They lost not only the frames I picked out, but the lenses were never sent out for the coating and other processes. Finally got that all worked out, and they took almost two months to get them to me. Then the coating on the other pair started coming off, they tried to blame me for using a t-shirt to clean them. Showed them the cleaner and solution they gave me and how much was left in the bottle, they got the old "deer in the headlights" look. Had an appointment at 5:25, was running a bit late due to traffic. Arrived no later than 5:35. Called their phone number to let them know I was going to be late. The call center representative moved my appointment to 5:45 just in case, that was fine with me. When I got there, the older woman at the front was hardly approachable. Proceeded to ask us if we needed glasses today to which we replied if possible yes. Then she tells us "well the technician is leaving for the day so that's not gonna happen" then why ask?! Mind you, they're open till 7. Went to the back and the older lady continued to seem perturbed that she even had to help. Then a younger girl with bright colored hair (I'm guessing the technician) came out and started to get really rude and snippy with us about how it's so late and they needed to reschedule us. I told them that we called and they did reschedule us for 5:45. Her response "well that's the call center, not us, if it were up to us we would've rescheduled for another day" again, we were not even 10 minutes late and they're open till 7. They gave us the iPads to check in, the older lady rudely handed them to us. Meanwhile while we were sitting there the younger girl and the older lady were complaining and seemed so inconvenienced to do their job. We decided to just leave, their attitudes were ridiculous. When we were walking out the younger girl let out the loudest most annoyed sound one could make. When I spoke to it, her reply was "I was just taking a deep breath" yeah right! Of course, my lenses are under warranty..BUT i have to pay 20% to get new lenses? I cant even see out of these darn things and they tell me there's nothing that can be done. "It happens" i paid over 600$ for 2 pair of glasses. One frame broke almost immediately..i can buy a new frame..gee thanks. My son and I went there to get glasses not only did the do the prescription wrong, when I asked for a refund my miney they only gave me 19 dollars back for my reading glasses .and 70 for my son's. I told I can go to the dollar store and buy 2 for 2 dollars. I was so mad that they have u see someone one the tv instead of a doctor. When I was there 2 other women came in with same complain. This is a tough one... I enjoyed how nice they were there and super fast to get our glasses done. We went in and it took about 45 mins to choose frames and get paperwork done. But the price was very expensive. I only went there because at NM Eye Associates, it was going to take about 2 weeks for my son's glasses in and he needed them a lot sooner than that. So luckily, Stanton did get them done about 30 minutes after we chose the frames. So that was awesome but did end up paying A LOT more than we would have at NM Eye. Oh well it is what it is. This is the worst experience i have ever had with eye exams and eye wear. I know we are all under alot of stress, however they have 0 (zero) customer service. Women at front desk I believe was the manager. Greeted me with such poor customer service. Two people in front of you. I procced to explain i was there for a refund, thinking while she was waiting she could help me and get me out of the way. instead she looked over at me and said, like I said 2 people in front of you. one was looking at frames the other was sitting waiting. rep could have been a little more courteous. instead she picked up here phone and her conversation obviously to an employee, was heard by all in the store." well Iam here alone with a store full of customers as soon as you can get here" and hung up. We as customers didn't need to hear her conversation to her employee. Really!! she could have helped one of the other customers, instead she just waited like 20 mins for the first customer to pick out his frames. then she procced to indulge in a full length conversation about where he was from, what school he went to, who he knew. went on and on all the time ignoring the other customers, By this time other customers had walked in. several customers including the ones, in front of me had walked out. when the other employee came in, she pointed at me and said she's next. The other employee was upset, that was obvious I suspected it was because of the way she was talked to on the phone. who knows maybe it wasn't even her. Maybe they are all just moody. I'll skip the details of how Stanton's advertising is misleading, or how promises like a free exam with the purchase of frames does not apply if you use insurance, or that the "buy one get one free" is discouraged by the employees, or how your time isn't valued because they don't keep appointments, and simply focus my review on the following: Stanton gave me the wrong pair of glasses--and they refuse to refund my purchase. The following discussion just took place--I am not exaggerating: Me "There must be some mistake--this is not my prescription." Assistant: "I'm sure it's correct--you will get used to it" Me: "I'm seeing double" Assistant: "I don't see how you could be having double vision" Me: "I'm sorry, but I am indeed seeing double, and wearing these make me feel dizzy. There has been a mistake." Assistant: "your prescription is very strong. Have you worn glasses before?" Me: "Yes, I wear glasses, and am familiar with the sensation of a new prescription. This is very different, and something is very wrong. By the way, my prescription is actually very mild". Assistant: (adjusts the frames to fit better over my ears) "here--try this" Me: "I'm not sure you're hearing me: I am seeing double. This is not the right prescription." Assistant: "your brain needs a chance to adjust. You will get used to it after a couple days" Me: (sigh) "Please just return my money" Assistant: "I can't do that." ...so, I left. I don't know what happened--admittedly my script is a bit new and slightly stronger than before, but, well, imagine wearing someone else's glasses--someone with a severe correction, and the salesperson insisting that's what you need. Yeah...no. Perhaps there was an error in the prescription, or maybe there was a transcribing error, or perhaps the lens cutter chose the wrong plastic--I don't know. All I know is that these glasses were made for someone else, and that Stanton is refusing to investigate further--and is also refusing to refund my purchase. Save yourself the headache. read more

I want to take the time to share my experience with Stanton Optical. I have used their services for over three years. I do this because when ever I have a problem they address it. Wether it be an adjustment or I am just not comfortable with a new pair of frames. Everyone goes above and beyond to assure I am happy. I have never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision. This is the worst place you can go, staff is so unorganized and no help whatsoever. This was my first time and I had an appointment at 12 on Sunday, got there and on the window where they have the hours, nowhere does it say Sundays hours so I assumed they're closed, go online to check and it says they open at 12, I'm maybe 15 minutes early because usually eye places open early so you can sign in and fill out paperwork so I try to go in and the doors are locked. If people show up early, they have to wait outside for them to open right at 12. It says free eye exam and 2/$69 on glasses yet there's a $49 fee for getting the exam, and they have maybe 10 glasses to choose from, in the 2/$69 section. These aren't even glasses most people would wear, they were just bizarre glasses. Went in for my exam, guy was quick but he shines a light at your eyes for a good while. Asked receptionist if I could just get my prescription so I could go cause I didn't want any glasses and she told me she'd go over and get it for me, instead decides to help somebody else, who wasn't even waiting for help, and when I walked up to the counter, she walks away. 45 minutes completely wasted read more

Never again will I spend my money at this shady business. They no longer have actual Optometrists on site, but instead when you schedule an 'eye exam' you just sit in a room with someone talking to you on an overhead TV from some other location. (after an hour wait)This person didn't introduce themselves, no idea if they are a tech or just a random person who knows how to click through a checklist to check your prescription. At no point was I offered or given an actual eye exam and yes, I marked on the form that I had history and medical conditions. Although they state on their website than annual optometrists doing 'complete eye exams' is essential for eye health...no location in Albuquerque has an employed Optometrist on site. This would have been good to know before I wasted 90 minutes and my money. Don't be fooled by their claim to want customer satisfaction either cuz they sure don't. Don't understand why only the bad reviews are the recommended ones... My wife and I went in together and we were both very happy with the experience. We were promptly greeted upon entering the store and were immediately seen by the optometrist for our exams. The general manager herself took the time to help both of us pick out frames (we were both pretty indecisive on what we wanted so this took quite a while) she never made us feel rushed, or tried to get someone else to help us, and she gave us an honest opinion of how they looked. After going over price points it was actually cheaper for us to take advantage of their by one get one free deal than it would have been if we used our insurance. I was able to get a pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses for each of us as well as replace the lenses in a pair of my wife's old frames (to be used while at work on the computer) for less than what I had budgeted for the two of us to just get glasses. I was very pleased to find out that all of our new frames and lenses are covered under warranty so if we damage any of them in any way they will replace them, it was just kind of the cherry on top for me. I almost forgot to mention that we got there late and ended up keeping them there after the store closed and not once did anyone act annoyed or make us feel rushed. This was the worst example of customer care I have ever seen. The doctor was fine but the actual grinding of the glasses was terrible. I took the glasses back four times, they kept telling me I had astigmatism and it would take a few days for me to adjust. Funny I never had to adjust any other glasses. I have since gone to another optometrist and they say that they've had five people complain about Stanton optical just that day. Don't waste your time or your money with this scam! In my opinion i was treated by the boy-guide like a cog or slab of meat. He meant well. But the woman who seemed to be in charge treated me like I was a piece of crap. This operation was heavily machine-laden, and the optometrist came in on live TV, and I still have no idea who or what she was. I sat through about 4 machine tests and I still have no idea how my retinas looked, or what the machines showed, etc. The one female tech who actually measured me for glasses was a friendly, cheerful contrast to the lady-apparent-manager I mentioned above who in my opinion had a totally contemptuous and loathing opinion of me as a Senior. (HEY STANTON! WISE UP! ALL I SAW WAS ABOUT 10 SENIORS THERE!) She actually apparently thought I could not see her contempt. She actually seemed to think I had no way to perceive her utter contempt and irritation. I mean---all, like, Millennial, vs Senior, and stuff, "I no right?" Well, guess what? I was a licensed private detective for 35 years. In my opinion, I saw it all right. I will wait to learn how my glasses turned out, but I'll tell you now, I would not go back to this joint on a bet. I ran my own business for 35 years, with up to 125 employees. I was an employment interviewer at another detective agency before that. I screened, tested, and interviewed them in-person. This was the most unprofessional visit I've ever had to date. I've used competitors in the past , so I knew what to expect as far as hidden charges. The unfriendly unhelpful staff did not make a friendly environment to visit at all. Maybe because it was close to end of shift. I was not shown any options I asked about the fee of the exam being discounted but I was cut off and told oh I gave you a much better deal. I was not explained pricing I was told how much my daughter's glasses would be and then moved on to my two pairs. I spent a significant amount by the time we left. It was the unprofessional visit that bothered me. My daughter and I are rocking our cool trendy new glasses. I chose very noticeable frames and work at a very busy salon, where I come into contact with a large amount of the community. As a hairstylist I try to stay trendy, so of course I get compliments on my frames. Sadly I do not recommend this business location. The staff were friendly and helpful. That was the only positive. Unfortunately, the so-called deal is a bit of a bait and switch. They offer a free eye exam and two pairs of frames for $69.00. The problem is that the lenses are NOT included in the deal. You get to pick from about 6 or so frames, and then they ask what features you want on your lenses (transitions, scratch-resistant, sunglass tint, etc.), which add to the cost of the lenses. My wife and I spent nearly $800 on four pairs of glasses (granted, one pair was sunglasses). My glasses got something on them I couldn't remove with a cloth, and they got scratched when I tried to remove it, and I was charged $30 to have them repaired, plus one week for the service. If a business is going to overcharge me for their product, they should repair or replace them for free. I will not be doing any more business with Stanton Optical. read more

Thanks to Erica and the rest of the staff, I have no intentions of fulfilling my eyeglass needs with any company other than Stanton Optical! I had originally slept through my alarm, which caused me to miss my initial appointment. When I called to reschedule, I was anticipating an irritated tone- but was pleasantly surprised to find that they were very understanding. I was seen for my appointment on time and the doctor was thorough and patient when answering questions. The employee that greeted me and handled my pretests was also very pleasant, I was impressed by the their eyeglass promotion- I didn't feel like I was robbed! Erica was very patient and helpful, as I changed my mind at the last minute. I could especially tell that the employees enjoy their job and have a positive attitude towards one another. This type of customer service and atmosphere seems to be difficult to find. Great experience! read more
