Its just days before school, and I need a pair of glasses for my daughter... why did I wait until last minute... What is a girl to do... I came across Stanton Optical when looking for something I could get in an instant. There was a phone number, so I called right away. The person that picked up was quick to help me any way I needed. They made my daughter an appointment to get in within half an hour. When we arrived at Stanton Optical, the look inside was crisp, clean... prestige looking. There were samples of glasses neatly organized along the wall. A woman named Cassidy greeted us and showed us around the wall of glasses, to where we do an eye exam. The cost of the eye exam is free, with the purchase of glasses...so you do pay the $45 fee for the exam. When you purchase the glasses within so many days, the cost of the eye exam is credited to the glasses you purchase. Kelsey did the eye exam. She was very professional, not too talkative unless she was giving directions. She did great. Then it was off to another room to find the right prescription lenses for Angelina. Dr. John Jordan brought us into another room, first, he had Angelina try to read what was lit up on the wall. Then he put the mechanical mask over her and switched up the lenses until she was reading the letters 200% better! Success!!!! We paid for the exam and were then taken to the wall with the different kinds of frames. We were also told that there was a deal going on... BUY ONE FRAME, AND GET ONE FREE!! The frames we were looking at ranged from $99-$129...Cassidy came back and introduced herself again. She's the girl I pay for the frames. When we picked out our 2 choices, she went over cost, and protection. She was very wonderful and patient with us.... All together- $395 later, we walked out with a 1 pair of frames with the correct lenses... the technician accidentally broke the other frames we picked out and they just happened to be the last ones. He said, if he could find the same frame at his store, he would bring them and I could pick them up in a few days. He did call the same day with good news! He said they should be ready for pick up in 3 days! I ended up waiting a week before I went in again(I checked on Monday, 8/29/16), and they were the wrong frames. Stanton Optical actually had no idea about the frame the technician had broken and they thought I was exchanging for another pair. So I had to explain to them I was still waiting for the orginal frame we had chosen. Cassify said they are going to have to order them and will call me when they are ready... So far, it's been a pretty good experience. Although I do not have her 2nd pair of frames yet, I am blessed that my daughter has her sight back, and don't mind waiting for her second pair.. Had a really GREAT experience here. The staff was knowledgeable, and very friendly. There were alot of frames to choose from. Michael was professional and was really experienced in getting my prescription just right. I couldn't have asked for a BETTER Experience. I took my mom for an eye exam today on 10/12 @ 3:15 (just in case the manager or store owner would like to research and confirm who was working at that time to handle the disrespectful employee). We were the only customer at the time and Kalyia (the name she provided me assisted us. I tried to engage & be friendly with her as I was having a good day & wanted to spread me energy. She was very cold & impersonal. We did our exam, got our prescription & picked out frames. It came time to finalize the transaction & she asked me if I wanted bifocals or progressive. I told her we just wanted regular glasses, whatever the Dr prescribed (since we weren't told anything). My mom showed her the current glasses she has & Kaylyh said those are bifocals, again very impersonal & cold, acting like I was dumb for not knowing...I don't work in the vision field so I don't know and would hope that the professional would tell me what I needed. I said ok, what's the cost on bifocals...nothing said until 5 minutes, she says $498. I said ok, can I get the prescription printed so I can do so research...she said yeah, you can go up front to pay for the exam. I went up front with my mom, paid for the exam & got the prescription. I wasn't overly upset but I just wanted to give some feedback so I told her I managed a dental office and maybe she should have a little bit more interactive positive customer service to enhance business and she flat out told me "Maybe you should have a better attitude". I am floored!! I had no attitude at all until she told me that...no matter what's customer tells you, as an employee, that is never something to tell a customer. SO SO SO DISAPPOINTED Went in on April 23 for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses as well as getting my older pair of glasses switched out with the new prescription. My appointment was for 11am and I wasn't seen until 11:45. They weren't apologetic about the wait. But I knew my prescription was old so I waited. Skip to me sitting down paying and I get told it will be $379. Mind you I had not been asked about insurance this whole process so I bring it up. The woman helping me says, "I don't know if that'll help the price". I ask her again if she could run it with insurance. She does but with a deep sigh. "Huh, it took a little off." At this point I'm so frustrated I pay, get a receipt, and leave. When I get home I notice a few things on my receipt don't make sense. There's multiple add on I didn't ask for and on top of that, the actual pricing versus savings doesn't add up correctly. At this point is when I saw all of the online lawsuits and reviews of this company. I decided to go back to the store and try to figure out the discrepancies. Javier was extremely unhelpful. He pretty much told me it is what it is. After this incident, I will not longer patron here. My frames broke only after having them for a couple months. I called and it's so hard to just get through to someone! When I finally did the guy said he was busy and would call me back. NEVER got a call back.So finally after over a week of waiting I went into to store myself and was ignored for over 10 minutes until she finally thought to ask if I've been helped.. anyway then I told her what the man over the phone told me, which was they could take my lenses out of the broken frames and put them in a new pair of frames. She told me to go look and see if my frames were on the floor...(isn't that her job?!) and she was just NOT helpful or considerate. I have the warranty and was not told at the time of purchase I would still have to pay 20%! Which is just ridiculous. You're product is cheap and your customer service is awful. **Update: The store manager reached out to me and replaced my glasses free of charge. I went in a couple of weeks ago because I was interested in a fast turn around for some glasses. I was told because of my age I was eligiblefor the tele exam and would have to see the Doctor for an on site exam. I schdeuled the exam for the next available on site exam. Apparently this only every other Monday. My appontment was on 2/19/24 for 11:15 exam. I was 10 minuites early. After waiting for 20 minuites past my 11:15 appointment I asked how many people were ahead of me. I was told 2 people which meant I would be would see the Doctor around which would be about 12:40. While checking in to be seen by the Optometrist, the young receptionist who was calling to get my insurance approved, dropped an F BOMB as I stood at the counter. I asked her if she cursed, and of course she initially denied it, but then changed it to being placed on hold. I retrieved my insurance card and I discontinued my transaction. I told the Manager, nice lady, about her employee dropping F Bombs in front of customers. This must be an appointment way way in advance place. I called first, phone ring forever. No answer. Then I drive there. Several staff people in the lab and a few patrons at fitting tables. I stand at reception counter/desk with my ID and insurance cards in hand. I waited waited waited making eye contact with everyone. After 10 minutes I started to feel uncomfortable like I must be in the wrong place. This must be a member only joint and I was able to slide in the door or something. I went in and got new glasses and contacts. Got a new pair that same day and wore them for like a day and was feeling pretty gross wearing them went back and had another prescription taken and it was the opposite of the previous one. So the first one they said my left eye was bad and the other was normal then the next prescription they said my right eye was bad. So 2 contradicting prescriptions and they took my astigmatism out of my prescription cause of me feeling gross from my first pair. Those 2 test were with some dude that's not an optometrist dr. which was surprising. Then they had one from a remote doctor which was also surprising that did a vision test on me. After a few times going there then they let me see the actual doctor. He got it decent but they're still not as good as my old glasses and the contacts were a waste cause they took the astigmatism out. So I spent $500+ for glasses that are alright. One pair I ordered black frames and they gave me the brown ones. Another pair had like little scratches on the bottom of the lenses from the manufacturer or something. Felt like I got robbed my time and money. Never going back. read more

Even better - my boyfriend stopped in with me to pick them up and the patient coordinator Kalyia was so welcoming that he decided to get an exam and look at frames after more than 8 years since his last eye doctor visit! I have never spent over $700 on A pair of glasses- and received this disposable plastic container as a "case" before? Also, never have I purchased glasses and NOT been given A cloth to clean lenses? Called to ask if they sell Maui Jim's in prescription format.....very simple "Yes/No"...right? It wasn't, I got the scripted "We sell many different styles, you should come into the store and look around" Me: Thats not what I asked...repeated the question and said you didn't answer the question. Me: Young man, you just repeated yourself, why would I drive there if you don't specifically have what I'm calling about....its a simple question...yes or no....again, same script. Me: Hang up. I'm giving one star because everyone there is nice but... they got my glasses wrong with the materials I wanted along with the prescription. Never received text messages saying my glasses were ready. Also you can't call the store directly because they NEVER answer the phone. I called multiple times on multiple days. I actually have never seen a phone nor anyone on one in the 8+ times I've been there. All you reach is customer service who would tell me my glasses were ready to pick up which in fact they were not after going to the store. I don't appreciate driving 20 minutes just for a question that could have been easily answered if anyone ever answered the phone. The worst thing though is they did not tell me I had cataracts. I told them my vision problems and the doctor said the staff that helped me order glasses would help with the problems. The only help they had was to buy the best glare protection offered. There is no way the cataracts wouldn't have shown up. I have to have surgery which I would've had to have anyway but I could've had it months ago instead of buying 3 more pairs of glasses thinking it would help. I don't know if just this location is inept or it's Stanton in general but I will never go to any of them again. read more

The single star is for Michael who did everything in his power to help me. That being said, I'd never visited a Stanton optical before but I decided to try somewhere a bit closer than my regular optometrist. Beware- the appointment is a ZOOM CALL. I REPEAT, you will not see an actual in person doctor. Apparently the on site doctor only works every other Monday. Tough life. Long story short, my zoom call optical appointment went about as well as you'd expect. I was told I had to be seen by a specialist for drusen (which scared the hell out of me), the prescription given didn't feel right, I was prescribed contacts with astigmatism, and as the cherry on top the rep told me the new prescription in my powers were out of stock. I had to go back in after my initial appointment and spent about an hour trying on multiple pairs of lenses-including multiple with astigmatism that I wanted to gouge out my eyes. Fast forward about a month, I go to my regular optometrist for a second opinion. Lo and behold, the prescription Stanton provided was completely off, I did not have, nor had any signs of drusen whatsoever, and finally I absolutely did not need a prescription with astigmatism. This review isn't about this location as much as the horrendous experience Stanton (epically) failed at. Not sure why everything was so screwy but I definitely learned my lesson and will avoid Stanton Optical at all costs. read more

Employees at Stanton in ROSEVILLE ca , have no clue how to engage with customers. Exam was good as a mature fill in doctor was entertaining and engaging. I was told my transition glasses will be ready in 2 week .. I came after 3 weeks to pick my glasses .. got em but they said they called I guess only once and never left a message . I came and was told to put my name on a list but no one acknowledged me while I was standing and they kept on helping customers that were walking in . I finally had to go up abruptly to the counter and said I am hear to pick up .. a gentleman helped me don't know his name as they don't by name badges. Gave me the glasses did not even clean them before giving it to me . I had to ask for a case . If I could give zero stars, I would. I came in to get my daughter a pair of glasses. We went to another doctor for her exam and brought the prescription with us. She picked out frames, but we couldn't get anything because they didn't know what to charge me. They were unable to look up what my ex-husband's insurance covered and told me to come back with a printed copy. We did not discuss lenses at all because we didn't have insurance information. We came back a few weeks later with a picture of what the insurance covered. When discussing lenses, I explicitly said I did not want to add anything that was not covered by the insurance. The insurance covers lenses and up to $250 for frames. I should have paid nothing. Yet I was told the bill was $76. They upgraded the lenses and added anti-glare. They said it is what I asked for during my first visit. I explained that we did not discuss lenses during my first visit. The manager, Anthony, told me repeatedly that I was mistaken and that I did tell them I wanted these upgrades on our first visit. I don't think he was even there for the first visit. Misunderstandings happen. But then, when the associate, Kalyia, gave me my receipt, she told me she didn't want me to get confused by the receipt so she highlighted what I was paying for. I can't sing their praises enough. I live in the Hague, but am in California for the summer. I ran out of contacts and never thought places like 1800 contacts wouldn't accept my Dutch prescription. I came here to see what I could do. Not only did they assure me they didn't need to redo an exam, they ordered me some contacts, gave me a discount, and some trial sets to get my through until my contacts arrived. The last place anyone should ever go for glasses/lenses. This review is regarding multiple experiences I've had dealing with this organization. These guys will not be upfront and honest regarding wait times. Instead of telling people hey you may be waiting for 30-60 minutes in store, you get the "will be with you in a moment". Employees take extreme measures not to make eye contact. Every phone call I've ever made to the roseville location required a minimum15 minutes hold just to ask a question. The whole operation suffers from a lack of team work between different departments. Regarding their product, In my experience the lenses are of poor and inferior quality. The only reason I came back to this store was to replace the terrible original lenses they sold me. That's a whole other story. I will never do business with or recommend Stanton Optical. read more
