I had a 12:00 appointment, changed my work schedule to make it at noon. She said oh, we are running late it will be about another 20 minutes, so 40 minutes late. I recently called this dental office hoping to set up an appointment using my VSP insurance. Unfortunately, I found out that they have a mandatory additional fee that VSP doesn't cover. It's apparently their office policy that you have to pay for this extra service out-of-pocket or they won't see you at all. In other words, if you don't pay the extra fee, they won't even let you become a patient. I think patients should be aware of this policy upfront. I made an appointment for contact lenses on Saturday, March 7th, I was waiting for over 30 minutes. When I was finally taken back waited another 10 minutes. Doctor did full eye examination and asked if I wanted new glasses. I told her you guys just did new glasses for me a few months ago and that I was just interested in contacts, she told me they don't do fittings on Saturdays I made another appointment for Mar 9, again I waited 30 minutes. Was informed Dr needs to do fitting but no one available and it would be another wait because they had like or more patients. I told her I had already waited 30 minutes and she tried to say my appointment was 20 minutes later but I assured her my appointment was at 10am and I have the text message to prove it. Basically they need to improve their scheduling system and find a way to be more efficient. I won't be returning because I can't afford to waste anymore time while they try to figure it out! If you look at my initial one star review and everything that led up to that the unprofessionalism they're getting hung up on at least 10 times within a 10 minute period and no communication and prescriptions coming out incorrect, I got a call right after I left this review on the weekend by an employee named Edgar. He apologized and allowed me to elaborate on my review and really heard everything that I was looking for and needed from a professional service, especially when it comes to Medical. He set an appointment with me and asked if I would come in to meet with him personally so he could remedy the situation. Well to my surprise Edgar diffused every issue, took care of me like I should've been taken care of the first time and earned my trust with him, and I will be back to see him as he is an amazing employee and should be commended for what he does as it took me a couple three times to get everything dialed in, but washing him work in the environment that he's in he is an absolute A1 attribute to Eye Design Optometry. This is solely a review for the optician side of the business and not so much for the optometrists. The optometrist that I saw was excellent and very knowledgeable. I felt comfortable, got a prescription quickly, and was educated on what kind of lenses I would need. I decided to purchase my glasses through Eye Design as well. The frame I picked was on backorder for three weeks per the optician helping me. No problem at all. Fast forward 6 weeks from when I paid and put my order in, and I am still waiting to receive them. I have called twice, one at 4 weeks and another at 6 weeks, to follow up and still have not received any information on shipping or ETA of my glasses. I understand that shipping delays can happen with the holiday, but no one has an update on where my glasses are. I learned my lesson and will be going to a different area for service. read more

12/31/2021: I went to Eye Designs Roseville to get new lenses for frames that we had. The gentlemen that helped coordinated benefits for my husband and I. I was recommended to get polarized and utilized my benefits to its full potential. I walked out without paying out of pocket. 1/14/2022: I got a call that things were calculated wrong and that I owe $125. I was told that when I was there, the benefits were calculated based on new frames instead of the frames that we had. I told them that I will let my husband know. 1/19/2022: I called to let them know that I will be picking the glasses up. Before I do, I wanted to know if the $125 was for me only and if my husband had to pay out of pocket. I was advised that a manager will call me back to better explain my benefits. A manager called back and explained that the $125 was for me and my husband only had to pay $8.00. I asked why my husband was cheaper. It was because I had them polarized, etc. (added on things, see above, tried utilizing my benefits). I asked the manager to take away all of the add ons from my sunglasses and from there, how much would I owe? She said $68. I asked why is it still more than my husband? She said that she will check to see if we have the same benefits. I said that we do because we both work for the same employer. She came back and said that they made a mistake for my husband. Instead of $8.00, he will now have to pay $78 (around there). My husband spoke to the manager about all of this. Yes, mistakes happen. The experience just left us in shock. Maybe this could've have been prevented on 12/31 or the first phone call. In the past, things were so smooth and done. It was not going back and forth. We will pick the glasses up and not get new lenses. However, we have to wait because my husband's glasses were already sent away. The manager did say sorry and suggested that we can take the lenses elsewhere to get them done. I have been going to Eye Designs for 5-6 years and will not come back. read more

15+ year customer and this place is Not what it used to be that's for sure. Just ordered two pairs of glasses. One for me and one for my son. After about two weeks I was advised mine were in and inquired about my sons glasses. I was told that his were still at the lab. Called a week later, still at the lab. Called another well later, still no glasses. Then I get a call a few days after my last inquiry advising they don't have the frames and we would need to come in and pick new ones. This was very disappointing after waiting over a month. Frustrated, my wife and son went in and picked out new frames. I guess on a positive note the new glasses were $120 cheaper. We were told they would refund the difference when we picked up. Ok. No problem. When I arrived to pick up they advised me that the new frames were actually more expense. Not true as my wife text me the price the day she picked out the second pair. After pointing this out they did further checking only to find the price my wife text me was correct. The manager then offers me $100 back. At this point I'm exhausted by the issues and simply agreed to the $100 refund which was likely about $30 short of what it should have been after taxes. Better then dragging this out any further. $30 extra dollars well spent. I get "things happen" but it seemed I was being a nuisance by expecting good service and a refund of simply what was owed, nothing more, Not even asking for discount for my troubles. My daughter came here to pick out eyeglasses with prescription in hand. There was one person behind the counter and another standing. The person standing whom my daughter thought was a sales associate did not even greet her and friend. While looking at the eyeglasses, with no help, she asked to see some Chanel glasses and asked Edgar(who she later found out was his name). He lets out a sigh and tells her that he's off work soon and asks another person to help her. With that being said, another customer walks in, Edgar immediately greets them and asks if they need any help, how they're doing, blah, blah, blah. Wow! So Edgar can be friendly and helpful but only if he wants to?! That would make any customer feel put off. The gal that did help my daughter was very helpful and friendly. But my daughter ended up finding glasses elsewhere in the mall but Edgar was so unfriendly that she felt uncomfortable browsing through their selection. I'm sorry but if you want business, you can't pick and choose your customers. With that being said, I'm glad we didn't purchase glasses from here and wouldn't recommend them. I have been going here for years because of the great customer service and selection of frames. Unfortunately, this is not the case anymore. To start, they had trouble keeping track of my insurance information. They needed to special order my contacts, after not hearing from them for a few weeks I called and they still hadn't placed the order. When the contacts finally came in I scheduled an appointment to select frames. The man who was supposed to be helping me was not helpful at all. After having me wait he finally asked someone else to help me. Any questions I had seemed to be an inconvenience to them. Very sad, I have recommended them to so many. I scheduled an appointment for a lipiflow and specifically asked how much it would cost before I made the appointment and I was quoted $390. On the day of the treatment (lipiflow) Dr. Pham was very nice and thorough. The procedure went well. It was when you start talking to the check out staff when my price went up to $780. I was told that I needed to use a couple of products as part of regimen. When I got home I realized that the products they gave me are exactly the same products (same generic names different brands) that I've already been using for 3 years except that they also included a different eyelid wipes that I ended up being allergic to . So I ended up not using any of the products including the bruder mask since I have a couple of that at home already. I returned all the products on my follow up appointment and I was told that I was going to get an $80 refund. I asked how come that the products only cost $80 when returned? I was assuming that my treatment doubled in price because of the products since the original price quoted for the lipiflow was $390. I even mentioned that they been making me buy that bruder mask from them years ago for more than $80 which I refused then because I was able to get it for a cheaper price elsewhere. The staff said that lipiflow was $700 and the rest was the cost of the products. The lipiflow seems to be working and I can tell the difference and improvement in my eyes. Less grittiness, irritation and blurring. My eye lids don't feel heavy and tired after the treatment. It's the way they trick you in buying this overpriced products that is not right. If you've suffering from severe dry eyes and chronic stye. I would recommend the lipiflow and BhlepEx just don't agree to get any of the products. read more

The first visit I went in, they were in such a hurry that they got the prescription wrong. So when I went in after a months time to pick them up, it became apparent. They almost wouldn't believe me that I couldn't see from them. So when they tested me again, we got a big change in the values. Hmmm. Dr. Murphy is so knowledgeable and impressive with his ability to know each person's personality and to capture their eye issues. This review is for my mother's experience as she does not have a Yelp account. She went to this location in January to have an eye exam and to order glasses. Two weeks later the glasses were in, but they did not work. After several more adjustments and remakes of the glasses (all of which were blamed on my mother for not "letting her eyes adjust" or for not wearing the glasses at the "correct place" on her face, even though it was both uncomfortable and unnatural), they were still incorrect. At this point, a VSP rep had come to the office, making snide remarks about coming in on her day off to fix this problem. Another remake, another mistake. All of the members of the office were rude, rushed my mother, and shamed her into thinking that the glasses weren't working because of her, not because of a mistake on their end. Another eye exam with this doctor, and still the glasses weren't right. After two months of going around and around with this office, she finally requested a refund and went to another doctor. They got her glasses right ON THE FIRST TRY. Now this doctor has told my mother's insurance specifically not to refund the eye exam. Please read the other reviews and note that this is an ongoing issue with this office and doctor. Save yourself the time and agony and go somewhere else! read more

My second time buying frames at Eye Designs. First time at this location. To make a long story short. I lost/misplaced my current pair of glasses and needed glasses, ASAP. Driving and seeing during this period was an adventure, needless to say. When I arrived at this location, I was greeted immediately and they started the paperwork right away, as I perused their selection. Great selection of frames. They primarily specialize in the higher end designer frames. After I had picked out about 10-12 different frames (yes, I'm that woman) I sat down with Carol, an associate at Eye Designs, to get her assistance on which frame looks best. Carol was extremely patient and a pleasure to work with. I finally ended up settling on a pair of frames that I like to think of as: goofy, yet sophisticated. I explained to Carol the urgency of my glasses and she put in my order immediately and said she would TRY to expedite the order, but there were no guarantees. I received my order within 7 business days (which is better than the 14 that it normally is) and I was a happy camper, once again : ) I LOVE my glasses!! My wife and I were torn on how to rate Eye Designs. While we absolutely love Edgar (he fitted 3 family members), other aspects of Eye Designs are somewhat lacking. First, the positive-Edgar is patient, professional, knowledgeable, and very concerned about your well being. We always ask for Edgar whenever we need any service or follow-up. However, it took an extremely long time to receive our glasses. Since my prescription needed to be update, I had to re-order them and that took another 4-5 weeks. Additionally, they also permanently lost a pr of our glasses. These issues might be due to Covid, but there wasn't much communication regarding any of these issues. While Edgar's customer services is five stars, the current situation of other items at Eye Design do not reach the same level. read more

I can't attest to anything but a phone call and initial experience as I walked into this office. The receptionist was rude, sullen, and clearly hated her job and possibly life itself. Unhelpful, dismissive, inattentive. After I got off the phone with the receptionist I had a feeling she hated her job and did not want me to come in because it would mean more work for her. During my encounter in person with her she picked up the phone in the midst of our conversation and shouted to another worker while I was still speaking that her sister was indeed on the phone. The range of what people want from this place cannot be huge. Ultimately, people want glasses. So when I come in and explain I want a new pair of glasses, don't stare at me like I'm a fool. Maybe smile. Or a greeting of some sort. Perhaps "Hello." Glasses selection was fair. I would rather duct tape my glasses than give this place my business. read more

On 4/30/18 - we came in for myself and my husband who had an appointment. I checked in for the both of us. They called me in, had my exam for my glands in which training was happening so it took 20 minutes just for the tech to get a "good" picture of my glands. I was being patient and didn't say one word. Once I saw the optometrist, I get outside to get some glasses fitted, the receptionist then realizes they didn't check in my husband when I clearly stated, it's for myself and Matthew. They finally call him in for his exam - Meanwhile, I am trying on glasses with my son in my lap. The rep who was helping me try on glasses was helpful, don't get me wrong and was friendly with my son, who had patience as well. Where it gets terribly wrong is when I had requested for them to call me so that I can make my payment with my FSA card because I left it at home, I was advised that they will reach out to me once they have gotten the orders through the system. I never got a call and didn't dawn on me to make a follow up because we had other appointments that day. As well as taking in consideration that someone would actually call me. On 5/11/18, my husband wanted to check how long it would take for our glasses to come in, he was advised that the order was not placed because it is their policy for payment to be made in order to send the request for the glasses. I was upset because, well you can imagine my vision has changed and no one advised me of that. So there was a lack of communication on their part and nowhere in the representative I was speaking was sympathetic. So I paid so that I can have my glasses ordered. On 5/17/18, we call to make sure the order has been placed, was advised again that the order was not submitted until 5/15/18 - how in the world does that make sense? We made the payment in full over the phone, mind you they should not be taking credit card numbers over the phone. And two, what is it that is prolonging for you to place my order when I have already paid? We asked if they can expedite the request because this is their error, they said there is no way of doing that. Once I get my glasses, I will no longer return to this office and will be going else where. I would not recommend this place because they lack of customer service, communication and organization. Everytime I came here to order more contacts I was always completely scammed into buying WAY more contacts than I needed, which resulted in me spending way more money than I was informed. My last time I had a basic eye exam and needed to order more contacts I even looked the dude dead in the eye and said, "the last 3 times I've come here you've falsely informed me about how much money I'd be spending." Then proceeded to lie to me once again and ordered way more than I had asked for and of course I spent over my budget and totally screwed me up for the next few months. Avoid this place at all costs.
