Took my son for an eye exam and 2 pairs for $79. Even though we had an appointment it seemed to take forever and they woman there was not particularly nice. After the exam we found 2 pair of glasses that were not $79 because all the 2 for $79 are ugly glasses. We ended up with bogo and the most expensive pair was $169. Ok, still not bad. We get to the desk to order them and will all the extra added BS it would have been over $450. I told them to kick rocks. I went home and found the exact 2 pair of glasses on Zenni.com for $49 each. I retired and got oldster insurance. I was a nobody to my previous optometrist once that happened. My new insurance company told me that Stanton Optical was an option, and I have a family member who has used them, so I thought I'd give them a try. I had my exam on the 6th of June, and I received my glasses on the 17th. That's way faster than the optometrist I used previously. The employees are friendly and helpful. Bought a pair of glasses that on my first time cleaning ended up getting scratched by the cloth they gave me to clean it off. I absolutely needed these for school, spent nearly $800 on them not even 2 months ago and I can't even wear them. They will only fix them if I pay 20% of the cost which is unfair. If they're going to charge premium prices for their products they need to stand by them. Just go to Costco. This place sucks. Don't worry about getting back to me, I don't care anymore. I'll just accept my losses. Pretty sure my Contact and glasses prescriptions are incorrect too. The remote optometrists rushes on the exams which I the result of a lot of these reviews I've noticed. I recently received a prescription for glasses. I called them to see if they have Oakley and nike frame. The guy I spoke to said yes. I set the appointment 1/15/24 @ 5:30pm. Do yourself a favor and just don't go here. I got my eyes tested, they ordered the glasses and the prescription was waaaay off like not even close in my right eye. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and did a retest with one of their "technicians". The 2nd time around the screwed my left eye prescription all up, after I told them my left eye was fine the first time around. So the 2nd pair came in and it was not correct of course and my left eye was completely wrong. I'm not sure who they have doing these eye exams, but they are obviously not qualified to be handling these exams. Do yourself a favor, go to an actual optometrist and not these two-bit, uneducated clowns, that call themselves technicians. The only redeeming part of my experience is that the lady at the desk was very polite and apologetic. It's very apparent that this system is broke and does not work efficiently. It should have been a red flag when I came in the first time around and someone in the lobby was complaining about needed a recheck on their prescription. I am a repeat customer. I had my 16 yr old son get new pair of glasses and an exam last year. So even though I get my glasses through the VA for free, they take an extremely long time to get an appointment and finally the glasses. So I needed a pair to see my computer with. I want to pass this on to everybody.... Based off my experience recently. Everyone should know based off my eye opening experience, no pun intended. About a month ago, I needed glasses right? It had been 4 years since my previous pair, and one arm was broken off the pair i was using. Was basically held on by duct tape. I don't have insurance, so I was paying out of pocket. Keep that also in mind. I also knew it would be expensive as any insurance helps cover some of the costs. However this is where i want to help people understand something. Did you know, they make commission off of you?? Any time they recommend anything to you, its considered an up charge and they make commission off the sale. In a time where money is tight, no one should be making commission off anybody. I think it is absolutely shady, and shows that they don't actually care about your eyesight. To a point yes, its their job, but they also care about how much upselling they can do off each customer. Stick with the basics if you want to make sure they aren't pulling one over on you. Make sure to ASK if this is a commission based upgrade. Make sure they do not make money off you, but are there to help you. Gloria is the Head Manager there, and when i went back to make sure she corrected things for me, i did get the commission upgrade for free. But there was still commission made off of me. I realized it when I went back home and talked to a room mate of mine who works in the glasses industry as well. After this experience, I won't be going back. Would give them a zero if that was possible. Glasses Started cracking after 1st year. I purchased extended warranty for repair. I was responsible for 20%. Of the price. Original purchase price was 300 Dollars. They quoted me that it would cost 150 dollars for replacement because they were charged retail price not original sales price. Total scam. First of all I came in to get my glasses adjusted and the broke the frames. Oh sorry we do t have the frame but we can replace them at 50% off. The cost to replace was $181. Second we cam back to pick up an order and they helped 3 people that came in after us and left us sitting here and bo one has helps us yet. We've done business with them before and never had issues. But the only licensed person that can adjust glasses is not here today. So they are dispensing glasses without the ability to have them adjusted to People's faces. I read and listened to their ad. Two pair of glasses with anti-scratch coating for $79 with free eye exam. I was told that didn't apply for my bifocals or progressive lenses. Their was no onsite doctor or lab. They got my prescription wrong the first time. I was told that progressive lenses are cheaper than bifocals, which was a lie. I was charged $25 dollars for the exam. I was charged $49.95 for the anti-scratch coating for both pairs of glasses. There was no one to fit the glasses to me. I had to ask Jacob to clean the glasses before giving them to me. So the two pair of glasses I received didn't cost $79, they cost $405. I think it is called 'bait and switch'. Terrible. Just terrible. I'm pretty patient and easy going, but geez louise this place is terrible. At first, I was thinking that maybe something was wrong with me, but after reading more and more reviews here, I wish I would have come here first. DO NOT GO TO STANTON OPTICAL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. My insurance company has a "concierge" service where they find local providers and set up appointments. Trust me when I tell you that I've already alerted them to remove Stanton from their recommended service provider list. I don't need to go on and on, just know that they don't have any doctors on site, the "sales associate" who was setting up the exam was also walking away to go sell frames any chance he had. Other than turning on some machines, I don't think he knew much about eye care. Nice guy (Claudio) but he's in a rough spot working there. Anyhow, after waiting for my appointment to begin (literally Claudio wasn't in the building to start the process) it was a juggling act of start and stop and wait and go. Very frustrating The virtual exam (yup, a doctor on a tv screen) glitched after 20 minutes (about the middle the Zoom froze and nobody was there to reboot the system. After waiting awhile, the doctor came by, didn't even remember he was performing my exam a bit ago, and I was told we would have to start the whole thing over. That was it. I just couldn't and honestly anybody reading this shouldn't. I've alerted my companies HR (over 650 people in the company) as to what happened and as I mentioned, am taking any and all steps towards ensuring that Standon is never referred in the future. Its not sour grapes and I'm not angry....but honestly, how terrible can one place be? The answer is.....pretty terrible and that place is Stanton Optical. read more

i've had two experiences with the same store. The first one was I did the buy one get one free deal had receipt in hand got my first pair of the same day. The second pair was supposed to come two weeks later I never received my second pair, they said I never gotten a second pair, even though I had the receipt, the second experience with this store was not as bad but took well over 3 1/2 weeks for a basic pair of frames to come in anywhere else takes under two. Called explained his insurance was told $45 for exam a pair of glasses. Went to appt. Was told his 1 eye is so bad they could write the script. They can only do for up to a certain amount of vision loss. WHAT???? are you an eye doctor or not??? Was told if he brought back a script from another doc they could still do the $45 glasses. The optometrist examines remotely and you only see them on screen. The exam was very brief and the optometrist was abrupt and unfriendly. To add insult to injury, when I received the eyeglasses 2 weeks later-- the prescription was wrong! Now I have to go back to have it corrected. Harrumph! read more

I would give negative stars if possible. When i picked up my glasses I immediately said they were not right, I couldn't see. I was talked down to and told it would take a week for my eyes to adjust. No. They had put the wrong prescription in but blamed it on my optometrist because he wrote my prescription differently than they are used to. I've returned several times to have my glasses adjusted. The woman who does this is consistently rude. While I waited she had a full conversation with a co-worker about changing her lunch break because it was her birthday. Another time she told me that my glasses fit perfectly even though I could see in the mirror that they were crooked on my face. Stay away from Stanton Optical in Yuba City. Claudio was amazing with our son. We went in last week for an exam and glasses. Our son wanted to try contacts too. The gal helping with the exam helped with learning to put contacts in but my son was struggling. We went back today and Claudio was there and he spent almost 2 hours with my son working on getting the contacts in and it worked. He is very professional and explained everything in depth about contacts. While waiting for my son I asked the gal in the exam area about when I am eligible for an exam and she looked everything up with our insurance. I did not catch her name but she was very helpful. I will NEVER do business with this location again! Be careful and beware and make sure to check your order that nothing was added on without your consent and if you don't understand the promotions and what you are getting charged for, don't allow the associate to rush thru the charges like she did with us. The associate that assisted us was Ashley. Our appt time was 915 and 930. We arrived to the store at 9am and walked in at the same time this couple walked in. They were assisted first and it was clear the lady did not have an appt. We heard Ashley telling the lady she has two appts ahead of her blah blah. The next thing i know, the walk in was filling out docs on a tablet, she hands me one and says my husband can fill out his info once the other lady is done. The lady who was a walk in went first got her eye exams done, i got called in at 930am and my husband at 10am. Then the whole ordeal with the purchase of our glasses. Next day i called customer service, He patches me back to the store to speak to the person in charge and it was HER!! Ashley the associate that helped us! She went back n forth with me on the phone and then she hung up on me!! At that point, I was pissed off and calling customer service to give me a full refund and my phone rang and it was Amy, the store mgr of Modesto location who was overseeing the Yuba location while the mgr was on leave. Thank you Amy for stepping in and making things right. The Modesto location is actually the store I have gone to in the past and never had issues there but i recently moved to yuba county and that's how i ended up visiting this location in yuba city. I decided to try Stanton Optical because of there ads saying two pair for $79. What a gimmick. I came in with a Groupon which they told me it was cheaper not to use it. So I didn't. Only to find out that after my insurance coverage I still ended up with out of pocket $185 for one pair. I'm the glasses are horrible and extremely disappointed. Not only in the service provided but also quality of what I received. So back to my optometrist as Stanton did not save me one bit. Also hate virtual eye exam. Won't use them again. EVER. read more

If there were a 0-star option, I'd select that. My experience was beyond terrible! Firstly, I was told my appointment would be 20 minutes and they could accept VSP insurance but I was there for an hour and 40 minutes and there was no transfer of information from my scheduler about my insurance so they initially charged me 10x my actual cost of copay before I corrected them. That is unacceptable. Secondly, there is no in-house doctor at the Yuba City store because management has not listened to its own employees to provide one. To get the prescription, you're left in a room with a certified refractionist, a webcam with speakers and the testing equipment to REMOTELY test the different lens' strengths. It's nifty someone can change the lens remotely but there's no one in the room with you the entire time - it's extremely impersonal. According to the manager of the store, the refractionists are the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to optometry salaries, and my experience matched this. My refractionist clearly hated her job of asking "Which is better, 1... or 2...?"and was very openly irritated with me for asking her to compare the two options more than once. She was rolling her eyes, giving me death glares, taking long pauses before very sarcastically saying "Sure! 1... (overexaggerated pause) or 2...?" giving huffs of frustration, and being completely unprofessional. Her entire attitude and "service" was one of I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR MY JOB. Thirdly, when the prescription was generated, it was wrong. While waiting for my inaccurate prescription to be printed, 5 other people arrived. One lady had returned because her glasses prescription was wrong and when this was looked into, the one she was given and the one that was prescribed did not match! Another guy arrived and this was his third time coming back because they had already messed up his prescription 2 other times in the past week! One little girl was so excited to get her cute, purple glasses, but there's only one lady in the entire staff who can adjust glasses and she had already left for the day. The rest of the people were waiting and ended up waiting a long time with no one to help them because the one salesperson on the floor disappeared in the back for at least 15 minutes. Needless to say, this place is in terrible shape. It was like being serviced under a communist regime (because I've experienced this myself) - you only have 1 option and no choice in the quality of care or what you get. Sure, it's free, but IT SUCKS. Thank God for capitalism and our free market economy! Thank God that we have a choice of service and the bad businesses who don't understand customer service go out of business! This was my first and final visit to Stanton Optical. read more

This place needs NEGATIVE ZERO STARS!! Wasted an hour here. First, I called to see if they accept my insurance. Instead of giving me an answer they were forceful in scheduling an appointment. The person over the phone was rude. Then upon arrival I asked if they accept my insurance they said "yes we do" but they didn't clarify that I would have to cough up money for the exam. I went into Stanton on Saturday, to make an appt. They actually took me in right away. Cool. The girl was really sweet. I waited a few minutes and then was taken into the exam room, where by my surprise I was greeted by a computer monitor with a Dr. from Florida on it. He did the whole exam via computer. I had a little trouble understanding him and his accent. Then I was told my glasses should be ready in about an hour. Great, I'll go run some errands and come back. An hour later I came back and they had just finished my glasses. I ordered one pair of driving glasses and one pair of readers. When I put on the driving glasses I immediately told the clerk, these are wrong. I can't see anything. I can't see acrossed the parking lot. It's all blurry. I need these to drive. She said, that was the right prescription, and to wear the glasses and I would get used to them, my eyes would adjust. I said No way, I can not wear these, they are not right. Then I put on the readers, and talk about going blind. I couldn't read anything with them. I couldn't even see the numbers on the box. I said these are also wrong. I need these for computer work, and I can't even see the screen... It's all blurry. Again, the response was, that's the presription that the Dr. gave from your exam. Those are your numbers. Uh.... No, they are wrong. These glasses are wrong. I was told again, by the clerk, Well, wear them for a few days, your eyes will adjust to them. And she basically just walked off. I'm like what the H.... Then the next day, I'm looking at the script, and notice that the Dr. had put down for Progressive glasses. I don't wear progressive glasses, and even still more, the glasses that I was given were not progressives. I've tried them before, and can not wear them. I mean, I thought it was nice, I was able to get in and get out in about an hour and for $61.00 total. But for bad non useable glasses with the wrong script. Not acceptable. I'm going to go back on Monday, and demand three things, a new exam, new glasses, or my money back. Maybe just get my money back. read more

After having a horrible interaction the first few times I went to Stanton's, I went in a third time, yesterday because the glasses I received from Stanton got caught between the seat of my car and the arm of the glasses became bent. The assistant manager, (i think her name was Rachel or Raquel,) was amazing. First, she was the only person working in a busy store and every client seemed happy, due to the fact that she was so talented at multitasking. Raquel fixed my glasses while helping other people and I didn't have to wait. Additionally, I found another pair of glasses I liked and was so Impressed with Raquel that I bought the glasses. And...she gave me a great deal! I'm changing my stars from 1 to 4 just because of her. She worked Sunday morning March 10. If I were you I'd ask for her, because shes a rockstar. Initial review. Don't believe the free eye exam with the purchase of two pairs of glasses for $79. Complete fraud! It's all bait and switch. The eye exam was performed by some guy over the internet. The assistants were rude. Then when I received my glasses I didn't like a particular pair, (I ordered two pairs) and took them back as per the 100% satisfaction guaranteed agreement. The lady I met at the front counter was visibly upset when I tried to return the glasses and said she "needed" management approval. I laughed and said OK I'll wait. The only saving grace was the manager, I forget his name. He is a good guy who I generally think cares for his patients... (or I should say clients?) He was very decent. I received a pair of glasses that I can't see out of. During pickup I was told to keep them on so I could get use to them, I don't want to get use to them as they are driving glasses that I can't see out of plus they caused me to develop a headache. I was told to go see a ophthalmologist, if I need to see a specialist why wasn't that recommended before I had my eye exam and made an expensive purchase.
