After more than four years as a client, I have unfortunately decided to take my business elsewhere. Over the years, I have noticed the customer service at the front desk decline significantly. After reading other reviews, it appears I am not the only patient who has experienced what I would describe as rude and unprofessional interactions. I have been seeing Dr. Thacker since 2021, and I want to acknowledge that he has always been thorough, respectful, and professional during my appointments. I sincerely hope he has the opportunity to read and consider this feedback. My primary concern is with the handling of my eyeglass frames. On two separate occasions, the lab has damaged my frames while replacing lenses. The first incident occurred several years ago, and the office took responsibility and covered the damage. Unfortunately, it happened again. Most recently, I had an appointment on May 20 and left my frames to have new prescription lenses installed. I later received a call from the front desk informing me that my frames had been broken and that the office would not cover the damage because they were my own frames. While I understand there may be policies regarding customer-owned frames, the damage occurred due to an error on the office's side, not mine. Furthermore, I was never informed at the time of drop-off that I would be responsible if the frames were damaged. Had this been clearly communicated, I could have made a more informed decision and prepared accordingly. To try to resolve the matter, I called the office again on June 8 at approximately 9:55 a.m. and asked to speak with Dr. Thacker. I was told, in what I felt was a dismissive and rude manner, that I could not speak with him directly. I then requested that he return my call when available. During that conversation, I was told that I had already signed paperwork and that the policy had been explained to me when I dropped off my frames. However, I do not recall being informed that the office would not take responsibility if my frames were damaged due to handling during the lens replacement process. This experience, combined with the ongoing customer service issues, has left me disappointed and unable to continue as a patient. As a result, I will be taking my business elsewhere, along with my family members' business. I also intend to share my experience through reviews so that other patients can make informed decisions based on the level of service they may receive. read more

The eye doctor is fine, but trying to get glasses was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. They ordered the wrong glasses TWICE and after two months and still not gotten a proper set, they told me they were going to resend it for the THIRD time (which would delay it for ANOTHER month.. it would be a 3 month wait to finally get glasses... IF they would get it right this time) They also notified me after the second mishap on their end that the charge was going to be even more than what they originally quoted me. I gave up and requested a refund. I went to Costco instead and got proper glasses with my prescription in ONE week and a fraction of the cost of what they charge at this place. read more

I have visited this place a couple of times and I enjoy the service. I enjoy that they have good fun with one another. They seem to serve people fairly quickly and people come in and out quickly and efficiently. While I have no complaints about the products I have received, I saw a few things that made me concerned. Some of the lenses and the testing areas to determine the strength of one eye to another looks like they can be cleaned. On a few of the lenses, the edges of the lenses were a little dirty. The glasses and sunglasses that are displayed for people to try on and pick from are filled with fingerprints and what looks like smudges. I imagine that this place is very busy with lots of clients but I wonder if a little more attention can be given to the displays with so many people trying things on. On two of the sunglasses that I tried on, there were smudges that ran from the top to the bottom of the inside of the sunglass lenses. It would be one thing if it was a fingerprint but this looked like someone may have run their finger down the middle of the lens. Another thing that I would mention is that after I went through the four different tests on my eyes, in a dark room, that perhaps the worker could warn me before they turn on the lights again as it hurt my eyes when the light flashed that quickly after having my eyes examined the way that they were. Perhaps a warning That the lights are going to come on or maybe asking me to close my eyes while they turn on the lights so that I can slowly readjust my vision to the bright light. This place seems to keep pretty busy and so this review is not meant to talk down on them or slow their business but simply to bring a few things to attention. read more

Paid 235 for eye exam, contact fitting and all.that in November and they refuse to allow me to buy contacts or give me my prescription because this dr hasn't finalized my prescription (that I have had for 18 YEARS) SO, now im out my office visit money, and months later, no vision either. I called my insurance company and informed them of this fraud and they said they would review their contract with thise office. Total shame. Go elsewhere read more

Took my 4yr old for an eye exam at Yuba City office. Receptionist was belittling for being 7 minutes late. Which yes I should have been on time, but one person getting a 4yr old and 2yr old ready by yourself can be a challenge at times. The eye exam equipment was for adults and to big for my daughter. After they did the best they could with exam equipment we proceeded to see the doctor who was extremely nice and recommended full time glasses for my daughter. Given the circumstances with the equipment I sought out a second opinion from a pediatric ophthalmologist before I put glasses on a 4yr old full time. Today my wife called to schedule an eye exam for herself, spoke to receptionist Helen who was extremely rude and kept lying to her about my insurance not being accepted. Eventually she came clean said it was at doctors discretion not to see my daughter anymore or anyone in my family because they could see from the insurance I was seeking a second opinion for my 4yr. Told my wife they would send my daughter's prescription to the new ophthalmologist office and we could pick it up there. Then she just hung up on my wife. read more

It's taken 3 weeks to get my trials. No apologies, no nothing. Instead, the front lady (the brunette with many chain necklaces) adamantly stated that she called and left various messages. Her coworker verified my number and it was incorrect. The brunette called someone else yet she continues to state that she called me. Hmmm... So, who's fault?! I've given them 3 calls within a 3 week period. Don't waste your time at the office, it's ridiculous how they handle their business and take care of their customers. In my 20 years of wearing contacts, this is the ONLY negative experience I've had. They're not the only eye doctors around. Take your business somewhere else. read more

Dr Takher did a thorough eye examination as usual. He explained a couple of my problems to me and answered all of my questions about what I could do or not do to minimize eye sight degeneration for the future. He was relaxed and made time to talk to me. He requires a lot from himself and runs the whole office with the same attention to detail. I rarely have to wait more than a couple of minutes and the staff is friendly. After 15 years of going there, I've never considered going anywhere else. read more

I had an exam in September, 2020, at that time I placed an order for new frames which I was advised I would receive in 2 weeks. I did not receive my glasses until mid December, 2020. I called weekly to see what the issue was. I continued to get excuses and promises they would call me with an update. I then would call again every week, more promises that they will send. I am a firefighter and I needed to have my updated glasses for upcoming fire assignments. I went for my appointment during an off time and was assured I would get my glasses. I finally got them 3 months after ordering them. I also paid over $300 in advance. I do not recommend Advanced Eyecare in Yuba City, California. The customer service was beyond bad.There was no offer of compensation or reorder. I will not return nor do I recommend. read more

Very friendly, until you have a problem. The glasses came in, I went to have them fitted, to find that the lens were too close and my eyes, my lashes kept rubbing on the lens. When I said I couldn't wear them with that happening, the lady turned from very nice to not nice. She just stared at me with a frown, like it was my fault! I was shocked and very disappointed. Doctor's are great, staff always seems confused especially when billing! I watch them pull a benefits sheet out and do some "math" then they say yeah that looks right here's your total and the mark up on contacts is ridiculous I use to pay $30 a box at prior eye doctor but Advanced eye charges $60 a box!! I recently checked a few out in the area and they charge $30 per box sooo needless to say I feel robbed leaving there and nothing is comforting about the "that looks right" response about your bill. I have asked them to explain it to me a couple times but it makes zero sense and they end up confusing themselves by the end of the conversation. Also the don't carry much in stock for contacts and with covid turn around times are long or the staff "forgets" to call you when they actually came in already. read more

Took my 4 yr old in for an appt and decided I would like to get a second opinion with a dr that specializes in children as the machines they used did not seem to fit her head. I called a week later to make an appointment for myself and was told they don't accept my insurance even though me and my daughter have the same insurance and she was just there days prior. Then after they said their system showed we were seeking a second opinion I was informed due to drs discretion they will not see me as a new patient or my daughter anymore. If you are confident in your diagnosis why would you get your feelings hurt to the point of no longer seeing a patient?? The staff was incredibly unprofessional and Helen hung up on me. They kept dancing around the subject at first saying they dont accept our insurance, not accepting new patients, before finally admitting they will no longer see us because we wanted to get a second opinion (drs discretion). I never received a copy of my current prescription after I had my eye exam. I was given a rebate, yet in order to process it you need a receipt and a copy of your prescription, which were never given to me. Amazing! I've been in need of some new glasses for awhile and decided to go and give these guys a try since my coworkers have said such nice things about them. I'm really glad I did. The women were friendly, helpful, and insanely funny/nice. I had my current prescription from my regular optometrist and I was surprised at how nice they were about everything. They weren't pushy, they didn't try to sell me anything and they didn't mind that I went to another doctor. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. No real complaints. The glasses I chose were expensive (Prada) and like millions of other people I have no insurance BUT they had plenty of specials and it fit perfectly in my budget. They also allow you to pay half when you order and the other half when you pick them up. I will definitely use them next time! read more

I want to start by saying this review is not for Dr Tacker. He actually is a good guy and very professional. This is directed at the staff that is trying to force me to buy some reading glasses that do not fit my head. I asked That Id be given my prescription so I could look elsewhere as I'm aware of the big head I was blessed with. The staff persuasively continued to sell me on a pair convincing me that they were the right size for me. This was all done after my eyes were dilated from an eye exam and my vision was shot, blurry and difficult to see properly. Today 10/7/16 I was called to pick them up. I showed up to try them on and WHOA!!! They do not fit nor feel right on my head. I tried to tell the lady attending me my concerns and that I was not happy with them. She told me I had a balance I had to pay for that there was nothing she could do. This is unacceptable this place says thrives on saying it provides great customer service!? Wrong!!! When I finally got to my appointment, I waited over an hour in the exam room only to be told my insurance couldn't be verified and it turned into an absolute fiasco. I gave them my insurance info two months ago and you're just NOW verifying it? Long story short, I really liked Dr. Takher and how he explains everything but the office staff is mediocre, lacks professionalism, and doesn't quite seem to know what they are doing. I'm still waiting to get my contacts. It's been two months. I've tried calling three times and nobody can give me a clear answer as to when I'm getting them. And they were already paid for. The doctor was patient and understanding with my child's very sensitive eyes. He took the time to talk to my child and addressed my child in any occasion that didn't need my direct input.
